Chapter Two; New Beginnings......AGAIN!!! Part II

'Oh...my...fucking....g osh!' Kagome thought in time with the bumps that were rocking the Uhaul as it drove down the highway. Kagome opened her eyes, blinking a few times before registering the sight that was outside the window. A slight correction is needed. They were no longer on the highway, but on a busy multilane highway that was so busy it seemed that they were in the middle of a raging sea of cars. The seatbelt buckle that Souta had neglected to use was poking her in her side and was starting become quite painful.

"Ow..." she whispered as she straighetened her form in the seat. "Where are we?" Kagome asked sleepily, the usual sting that was usually in her voice when she talked to her mom was gone. "We, are currently on the outskirts of New York! About 20 or so more miles we'll be in our new home." her mom chirped, forcing somewhat of a smile on her tired face. "Great." Kagome snorted, rolling her eyes. 'Home...I bet we won't stay here more for a year this time.' she thought as she yawned, rubbing her eyes.

"Thank you, thank you.....I possibly couldn't have done this without my piano instructor...." she heard her little brother mumble in his sleep as he adjusted himself to be comefortable. "He always has those piano concert dreams most. He really does love the piano." Kagome whispered as she brushed a few strands out of his face lovingly, speaking more of to herself than to her mom.

'Once again a new city and new landscapes. I'm the new girl, again. Damn! Just when I was starting fit in back in Compton.' she thought to herself with a sigh as she unzipped her jacket a bit, it was somehow a little warmer in here. "So, this private school. Is it full of snooty rich kids?" Kagome asked crossing her arms behind her head as she leaned back. "No actually. It has students who are from strong and sensible families who simply want the best for their kids." her mom said lightly, although Kagome could hear the slight attitude hidden in her tone.

"Riiiight. We don't have to wear uniforms do we?" Kagome asked in a slightly exasperated voice, her eye brows wrinkled at the thought of wearing one. "I hope they do. I'm getting tired of seeing you in those tight shirts and baggy jeans. The combination is horrid." her mom said as she looked down at the map in her lap then turned onto an exit ramp, Kagome only sighing and rolling her eyes in response. "Whatever. So what if I don't like to dress like a prep, is that a crime?" Kagome muttered as Souta began to stir as the sounds of traffic around them only seemed to increase.

"Mom! Is this New York?" Souta asked as he sat up and looked out the window. "Yes, we're home baby." Kagome's mom sighed as she stopped at a stoplight at a busy intersection. 'Oh my god...so awesome!' Kagome thought as she looked out of the window and saw a group of people at a fountain, at what looked like a town sqaure, and were break dancing. She rolled down the window to hear the music, not even noticing the disapproving look that her mother gave the boys then Kagome. "Oh my god! I love that song! Did you see that flare?! He caught a rag in midair, sick!" Kagome gushed as she watched them dance. She'd wanted to learn to breakdance too but couldn't find the right person to teach her yet. And she had no idea of how to learn on her own.

They were doing coin drops and all kinds of things, making the small crowd of spectators clap and gasp in amazement. 'New York is so awesome!' Kagome thought as the light changed and they drove away. They turned onto the street and Kagome continue to watch them as they passed. She stuck her head out of the window, nearly squishing Souta to death as she yelled "Get it boys!" at the top her lungs. She laughed when they looked her way and gave her the peace sign yelling, "Hey shorty!" then went back to wowing the crowd.

"Kagome!" her mom scolded, sounding as if she'd just found out that Kagome had gotten pregnant out of wedlock. "What? I can't give good dancers their props?" Kagome said defensivley as she rolled the window back up. "Yes you can. But there are a few select people I don't want you associating with. New York can chew a girl like you up and spit you out." her mom said in a serious tone as they drove down a less busy street.

"Who? Every guy or girl that wears a doo rag and a tattoo on their arm? Or the so called 'gangsters' that I dance with?" Kagome said, making quotation marks with her hands. "I'm a big girl mama, you don't have to worry about me." she added then began to sulk, glaring out of the window. "I'm hungry mom." Souta piped up, breaking the tense silence that had set over them. "When we get to the apartment I'll order takeout. Does that sounds good?" her mom asked. "Yeah, but can it be pizza instead?" Souta asked and her mom nodded.

30 MINUTES LATER...

"This is it! Shikon Heights, the best apartments in New York!" her mom told them as they stopped at a large black gate. It shone in the high noon sun, sop bright that Kagome had to sheild her eyes as her mom drove throught them. "Are you sure we're not in the wrong place. It looks more like a resort of some kind." Kagome questioned as they drove down the super long road that lead up to the housing bulding which looked to be a good mile away.

What Kagome saw was a tennis court where a couple of kids were playing also a volleyball net, equipped woth sand and basketball court. There were a lot of people out and had happy smiled on their faces, as if they didn't have a care in the world. There were slighly older people jogging on the sidewalk path that lead into what looked like a forest but Kagome suspected was a nature setting just for the joggers.

They drove for only a few more minutes then pulled into an empty praking space waaaaaay at the back of the apartment complex. "There's also a pool and spa here too. I'm sure you guys will enjoy staying here." her mom spoke as they exited the Uhaul and set straight to work: moving all their furniture into their apartment. Which just happened to be on the third floor!

'I swear mom chose this on purpose to punish me....I can just see her evil smirk...' Kagome thought as they moved the last of their stuff inside, she had her TV in her arms. Her feet fell heavily on the stairs as she ascended them at a snails pace. "Move your legs Kagome! For a dancer you sure are out of shape!" her mom called down from the third story, only holding two small boxes that could easily fit in each arm.

"Speak for yourself! Your not carrying a 50 pound television!" Kagome screeched at the top of her lungs, she was still on the second floor, her frustration showing through when the large television began to slip from her grip and she had to balance it against the railing to keep it from hitting the ground. 'I swear when i get to this private school....I will find the worst kids there and stick with them. If only to see the look on mom's face.' she thought angrily as she let out a long breath and leaned her head down on the TV.

"Hey, need some help there?" came an loud and unfamiliar voice. Kagome lifted her head and looked over the railing to see a tall guy, she really couldn't see what he looked like considering he was so far away. But she could see he had a basketball in his arm, and figured he must be getting back from the basketball court. "Does it look like it?" she called down with a chuckle. She thought she was doing a pretty good job.

"Acutally, it does." the guy said friendily as he began to climb the stairs. He sat the basketball down when he reached Kagome and straightened again. Amber crashed with light honey brown and Kagome felt her mind go blank for a few seconds. 'Why is this feeling so eerily familiar?' she thought to herself as she could feel her arms start to burn from the weight of the TV. Her eyes scanned over him, taking in his silver hair which was pulled into a low ponytail and hang down his back. He had on a red tank top and black basket ball shorts. But what was most striking to her were his eyes.

"Oh, let me get that for you." he said, as if he was coming out of a daze himself and he reached over and grabbed the TV. "Whew! Thanks, guess I'm not made for heavy lifiting." Kagome chuckled scratching the back of her head. She then leaned down and picked up his basketball. "Just moving in?" he asked and Kagome nodded, 'God! I must look awful.' she thought resisting the urge to run her hand over her messy bun.

She normally wore her hair that way when she danced, it was hard to watch yourself in the mirror if your hair is flying in your face. "On the third floor, unfortunately." she finished in a slightly dark tone, making him chuckle. "You don't sound too happy about that." he said seeming to smirk slightly, never breaking eye contact with her. 'What is up with this guy...' she thought as arched an eyebrow. "I'm not frankly, considering I'm being forced to go to some private school that's probably full of snooty kids." she said, deciding she'd be honest.

"Is it Shikon Hieights Academy?" the guy asked and Kagome nodded slowly, remembering a name simialr to that. "Oh, that's the school on this property. Hence the name 'Shikon Heights'." Inuyasha said, sounding somewhat amused by it. "No way! Here?" Kagome asked, sounding as if she were being placed in confinement or something. "Yeah, sucks huh. Luckily we kids know how to have fun here. Not all of us are snobby." he said tilting his head to the side as he gave her a smile, making her blush slightly. "Sorry about that. I don't have good exeperiences with private schools." Kagome chuckled, then jumped when her she had her mothers voice from above them.

"Kagome?! Who's that you're talking to. Didn't you listen to what I said in the truck?" her mother asked, referring to her conversation in the Uhaul and officially embarrassing her in front of the hot guy she just met. "What's your name anyway? You never told me." Kagome smiled brightly, deciding to make her mom a little mad. "Oh, Inuyasha. And you are?" he asked as they began to walk up the stairs. "Kagome. Nice meeting you. So what is there to do around here?" Kagome asked as they neared her door. "Meet me on the tennis court at seven 'o clock tonight and I can show you. If you want." he said as if she wouldn't want to, considering she'd just met her for the first time.

"Kagome. Say goodbye to your friend, I need to talk to you once you're inside." her mom said in a stren voice eyeing Inuyasha then turned and went inside, the flicker of disapporval not going unnoticed. Inuyasha and Kagome shared a look, Kagome's more of 'See what I have to put up with' and Inuyasha's more like 'Feh. I see. I feel for ya.' "So, seven you said?" Kagome said a slight mischevious glint in her eyes that Inuyasha happened to find cute. No doubt her mom would flip if she knew she was going out with a total stranger on a Saturday night in New York City.

"On the dot. A couple of friends will be with me, you can meet them too." he said, smiling so radiantly it made her stomach flip and her heart flutter. 'Hold it together Kagome. Just cause he has nice eyes...and very nice lips doesn't mean you go tripping all over yourself!' she scolded herself as she tried to stop her eyes from wandering to his biceps which looked very touchable to her. Although some people might say she was being a complete and total naive idiot of trusting this guy so soon, but she just had a thought...no, a feeling or a sense that she knew she could trust him. That he would never hurt her.

"Ok, see you later on tonight Inuyasha." Kagome smiled as she put his basketball down took the TV from his grip, blushing slight when their hands brushed as he set it in her arms gently. "Remember don't forget, seven 'o clock." he said with a smirk as he picked the basketball up and span it on his finger. "Kagome?!" her mom called, her voice muffled cause the door was shut. "Seven 'o clock. Damn can time go faster." she said in a joking town then turned and somehow opened the door and stepped inside. "Heh." Inuyasha breathed, shaking his head with an amused smile on his face as he descended the stairs. 'She's cute...hot acutally. And kinda familiar.' he thought as he bounced the basketball on eachstair as he made his way towards his friends house.

"Who was that?" her mom interrogated her as she and her mom unpacked dishes. Unwrapping the bubble wrap off of them and setting them in the kitchen cabinets. "I don know, some guy who wanted to helped me with the TV." Kagome sayid actiing as if she didn't know his name, keeping the attitude out of her voice. She didn't feel like getting into a spat with her mom. She was still on cloud 9 from the invitation to hang out with Inuyasha and his friends tonight. 'Maybe I won't be friendless for long. I wonder why he feels so familiar.' Kagome though hopefully as she threw the the bubble wrap in the empty box. "I'm gonna go unpack my stuff." Kagome said before her mom could ask her any more questions.

'This is just like a house...some apartment. At least I got my own personal bathroom and balcony.' Kagome thought as she walked past the large living room and dining room and down the hall, turning left into her room. She has a large room that was two times larger than her old bedroom. She smiled as she went inside her bathroom, liking the tub that had the jet bubble setting on it and the seperate shower that had about three shower heads. She ran her hand over the sterling silver water knobs, they glinted in the bright lights of the bathroom. 'Guess I better get to work...' she thought as she went back into her cream colored room. First making up her bed then going from there.

"Yes! I found it!" she gushed happily after she'd set up her stereo on her wooden chester drawer and took out her three huge CD cases. She, being the music lover she was, had about 20 cases of CDs stored away in another box but had her most important where she could find them. She unzipped it and took out a case she hadn't even opened yet, she'd bought just before she found out they were moving but never had a chance to listen to it.

She looked at the five girls on the front of the cover, the hotted girl group in R&B and Hip Hop. She ripped the plastic off and opened it. "All right Danity Kane, let's see what ya got." Kagome sang happily as she placed their CD 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' (A/N: Great buy!!! I really reccoment it) inside and pressed play. She listened to the CD as she decorated her room, adjusting things here and there until she thought it was how she wanted it.

She had to have been at it for about two hours or so, considering the CD had repeated a number of times and she had learned the words to most of the songs. "I can be your addiction if you wanna get hooked on me. I-I can be your addiction if you wanna get hooked on me. Maybe I'm just a bad girl." Kagome sang along to their song 'Bad Girl' as she rocked her hips from side to side, tacking some posters on her wall as she continued on her quest of decorating her room. She'd set her bed against the wall and her TV on the other side so she woud have enough room to dance.

If so she had MORE than enough, her room was so huge she didn't know what to do with all the space. "Kagome! Dinner is here." she heard her little brother call from the front of the house. "Coming!" Kagome called as she set the last empty box in the bottom of her tidy closet. She had her close hung up and even had her outfit planned for the night. Although she had no idea what Inuyasha had planned for her she hopped it was fun. And included dancing.

She turned her stereo off then exited her room, shutting her door behind her and walking down the hall. Her slipper clad feet scuffing the pure white carpet as she entered the dining room. "Whoa. Someone likes pizza a lot." Kagome chuckled warmly as she ruffled her brothers hair. He was sitting at the table and had a large paper plate full of maybe 6 or 7 slices of pizza. She looked around the living room and decided it was at least starting to look a bit like 'home' considering they had a few things left to unpack and only had a couple of more boxes that were half emoty or not even opened yet. But it was only stuff for the bathrooms, kitchen, and little decorative knick knacks. "Could ya pass the pepperoni please." Kagome smiled and her brother picked up the box and handed it to her.

"Where's mom at?" Kagome asked looking around, noticing that her mom wasn't there. "Oh, she went to take the Uhaul back, then to her new office. Said she got an emergency call and won't be back until about eight or so." Souta said, sounding a little forlorn. Kagome snorted when she looked at the clock it was only an hour after noon, 'As usual. It's always some sort of emergency with her.' she thought to herself as she felt herself sadden from the look on Souta's face.

"Hey kiddo, how about after we finish eating you play the piano and I'll dance. I need to brush up on my contemporary and burn off this fat." she smiled motioning to the pizza in her hand, knowing that music could cheer Souta up from anything. She normally didn't eat a lot of fast food or junk food. Since she was a dancer she had to treat her body right and she did. But every now and then she did endulge, she had every right to do so now depending their situation. They didn't even know which boxes held the silverwear.

"Sure sis! I've been dying to play you this new peice I learned, I heard it on a movie." Souta said through a mouthful of pizza and somehow Kagome was still able to understand him(A/N: Can anyone guess what movie, if you can take up the hard challenge? I actually know cause i've seen the movie. He'll say the name of the song later, so be on your toes ^_^!!). She'd been hard at work on her ballet and contemporary, she was gifted at all dance mostly but she tend to do contemporary and ballet less. Hip hop let her show her soul more freely so she tended to dance it more often. Well, up until now. The soft and graceful dancing had been making her see a new side herself. And that she could portray deeper emotions with contemporary than hip hop, although hip hop was her soul.

"You've gotten really, really good. I've tried piano but obviously it didn't work out." Kagome laughed, remembering when she was 7 and her mom finally let her begin dancing although Kagome had showed signs of liking it more before then. She asked for a tutu when she was 5, and ballet slippers when she was 6. She was 8 when she discovered hip hop.

Souta winced and tried to play it off, which just made it more obvious, remembering when he was about 4(his first memories actually) years old, the horrifying and dreadful notes that Kagome would play when she practiced. He cried actually, it was so bad. "You weren't that bad." Souta said with a gentle smile and Kagome threw him a look, smiling with mirth in her eyes. "You don't have to lie to me. I admit, I was horrible. But that was when mom let me begin dance lessons, only about the best thing she ever did for me instead of forcing me to do something I hate." she said as Souta laughed when she said she was horrible.

"But you Souta on the otherhand, are very talented with the piano. You play it with so much love and passion, you get lost in the music," she smiled, her eyes sparkling and Souta nodded knowing exactly what she meant for he expierenced it himself and knew that she did, and always will if she contiues to dance," don't let anyone ever take that away from you." Kagome said with a loving smile then took a huge bite out of the pizza.

"Yum! It's been forever since I've had pizza!" she chirped. "Thanks sis. But Mom rarely bothers to listen to me anymore..." Souta trailed off as he slowly stopped chewing and took a big swallow. "I know it hurts Souta. I would cry after my dance recitals a few times cause mom would never be there, but tell me whenever you have a recital and I will be there. Every single time. I'll listen." Kagome smiled as she reached over and grabbed her brothers hand and he looked at her, smiling with shining eyes. "Really?" he asked as he smiled from ear to ear.

"Of course, if you want to come to my dance recitals, it's cool. I've never had anyone special to perform for." she said with a casual shrug although Souta could see the hope underneath it. "Sure, I've always wanted to see you dance when I was younger. But mom would always find some excuse not to take me." he said with a snort.

"Maybe she's scared you'll start liking dance to." Kagome said with a laugh as they joked about their mother. "Acutally I do kinda like breakdance. It's cool how they spin on their heads. Mom acutally found me trying a couple of moves in my room. She didn't look to happy about it." he said scracthing the back of his head. "Yay! Go Souta, getting his dance on." Kagome said doing a weak cabbage patch as she laughed, making Souta laugh in return.

"Bit it figures. I wonder what she has against dancing....." Kagome pondered, trailing off as she watched Souta shovel down the rest of his food. 'How does he always eat like that?' she thought to herself. "I don't know. Maybe she can't dance and doesn't like it or something. C'mon, let's go I wanna play this song." Souta said eagerly as he stood and threw his paper plate in the trash and Kagome followed suit. "Ok, lets get to it." Kagome smiled. They went into the sitting room which was fairly large where the black grand piano stood, shining in the sunlight that shone in through the window.

Souta sat down and played a few short songs as if to warm up as Kagome did her warm up stretches. When she was finished she motioned to Souta and he began to play.

Kagome closed her eyes and let out a slow breath, letting the music fill her head and her body, Souta had truly become phenomonal on the piano. She slowly raised her arms as she began to dance. Twirling slowly across the floor in time with the slow music, ending with her leg lifted and her arms in the 3rd postion of ballet pose, one up and the other down level to her chest. She glanced at Souta and he barely nodded at her as he began to play the song, slowly speeding up to it's intended speed. And Kagome kept right along, twirling across the floor on her toes as if she was on air as the song was in full swing now.

The song was familiar to her but she couldn't quite place it as she stopped for a second with a kind of hip hop edge, moving her hips along to the music, mixing it along with the contempory as the turned again, kicking her leg high into the air, almost touching her hands as she crossed the floor on her toes, looking as graceful and as light as air. 'Wow sis....you've gotten really good too.' Souta thought as he watched dance fluidly, her movement smooth and flowing, each move looking as if it was part of the last.

She jumped into the air twice as her legs crossed back and forth, toes pointed when she landed and she walked a bit on her toes to the piano notes. She smiled, liking the way her body flowed in time with the music. When she danced everything seemed to fade away, and she was in a place where no matter how bad it was, it couldn't touch her. She kicked her leg behind her as she jumped backwards, then reached both her hands in the air, more of an urban flare as she jumped again, doing a toe touch. The music began to slow, signaling the end of the song as she did intricate arm movements, slowing and speeding up but yet in time with the music, lowering herself down to her knees gracefully and soundlessly as she reached out, as if reaching for someone she loved dearly as the last note rang in the air.

"Kagome! That was amazing, no, brilliant!" Souta said almost shocked into silence when she'd stood to her feet, her chest rising with each breath she took. "Me Brillian? The piano is what was brilliant. I can't dance if the music inspires me or moves me in some way, and little brother, you moved me." Kagome breathed as she blew out, her bangs fluttering. "Move you? Aw shucks sis!" Souta blushed as he fiddled with one of the high keys of the piano. "What song was that anyway?" Kagome asked as she sat down on the soft plush carpet, it felt as if she were laying on a bed.

'Guess the apartment is kind of nice. Too bad the city always isn't, New York City isn't all fun and games.' Kagome thought to herself. Souta seemed to blush at this but answered anyway, "Don't Leave Me Girl by Blackstreet. I only heard it once but had to learn it. It called to me." he laughed and Kagome smiled. "Yaaay! You like hip hop. At least sort of." Kagome laughed as she sat up and gave her brother a feirce hug then a nugie, making him cry out in protest. "Gosh sis, you're so crazy." Souta said when he pulled away, and rubbed his hair back into place. "Yep. Crazy for music." she said with a laugh as they both collapsed into giggles. Enjoying eachothers companies as they laughed their troubles away. At least for the day.

"Hey, wanna go to the spa with me?" Kagome asked a couple of hours later, their mom was still gone, as usual and Souta was laying on her bed in her room, surfing channels on her tv. "Naw," he yawned as he blinked sleepily, "I think I'm gonna take a nap. I really couldn't sleep well in that stupid Uhaul." Souta said as he got comfortable on her bed. She almost had the mind to tell him to get up and get in his own bed, but he fell asleep so fast and he looked so peacful she couldn't dare distub him. "Well, mom said since we live here everything here is free. So, I'll get a facial and a mud bath or something." she pondered aloud softly to herself as she went into the bathroom and changed her clothes.

She slipped on some red soffee shorts that had a white stripes down the side and a black tanktop that said, 'I am the future....be afraid, be VERY afraid.' in bold white letters. She brushed her hair into a high ponytail and looked into her reflection. 'Well, that's as good as it's gonna get for now.' she thought as she began to wonder what a spa was like anyway. She'd never been to one. She passed her brother on the bed once more, her smile eyes softenting as she placed a warm blanket over him then placed her bathing suit in her bag.

He could get a little cold when he was asleep and she didn't want him shivering. Grabbing her key off the hook by the front door and iPod in hand, she exited into the warm summer air, squinting when the sun hit her full on. She locked the door behind her and shut the door then humming the song Souta played on the piano she jogged down the stairs, loving the feel of the warm air and sun on her skin. It made her feel alive and new, if that was possible. She placed jer iPod buds in her ears and scrolled down her list of song. Choosing 'Was it Worth It' by Keyshia Cole. She loved the soulful and emotional tone of her voice, you can really tell when an artist connects with their music. At least Kagome can.

"This must be it." she whispered to herself as she came to suprisingly medium sized building with the sign 'Shikon Spa' on the front of it that sat on top of a hill. It had been suprisingly long walk here and she had already listened to three songs but the time she got there. It was quaint, and seemed to radiat positive energy. 'Just the thing I need.' she thought happily as she turned her iPod off, placing it inside her bag.

She walked inside, the cold air wrapping around her and sending a shiver down her spine, she smiled as a pleasing scent met her nose. It was soft but citrusy(A/N:SP) and suprisingly made her relax quite a bit. "Welcome to Shikon Spa, where anything is possible. How may I help you today?" came a bright and cheery voice from directly in front of her. 'That sounds suprisingly fake.' she thought as she walked forward to the counter where a girl with pericings in her ear and short flaming red spiky hair stood.

'Yep, totally fake.' she thought noticing the tattoos on her arms. 'Melanie' her name tad read, which was pinned to her blue button down shirt. "Um, i've never been to a spa before so I really don't know what to choose. Sorry." Kagome said, her voice slightly softer than usual due to her shyness around new people. "No prob', May I suggest our oatmeal facial, it cleanses the pores. Or our Apricot face scrub, it lifts dirt off of the face and gets rid of those pesky black heads and clogged pores." Melanie said, sounding a little bit more like herself.

Whoever she may be. Kagome shrugged as she thought about it, Melanie just looked bored and yet amused at the same time as she seemd to observed Kagome, trying to see if she was likeable or not. "I'd personally go with the Apricot Scrub. It gives the skin a nice glow not to mention it smells nice. How about a sauna setting too." Melanie suggested more friendly after she'd read Kagome's shirt, a slight smirkish smile on her face and Kagome nodded, figuring that sounded good.

"Oh, and don't let 'Them' get to you. They're bitchy to everyone." Melanie said as she bent down under the counter and pulled out a fluffy white robe, towel, and slippers. She obviously figured Kagome was worth talking to considering she was warning her. "'Them'? Damn, that doesn't sound good." Kagome snorted with a slight smirk as Melanie nodded.

"Yeah, but their leader's the one you have to watch out for. She's the brains behind the operation. She's really too sneaky for her own good." she replied as she lead Kagome through the spa. She put her things in a locker then headed off for her facial. But before she could ask more questions about 'Them' they walked into a cream and brown walled room where there was a spanish lady with a bun high on the top of her head. The room was made to have relaxing colors, and it was kinda working.

"Good day, facial for you?" she asked in a thick spanish accent, but yet fully confident. "This is Maria. Although she doesn't speak much english, luckily I speak spanish, so pretty much everything works out here. She is very gentle and VERY good at what she does, I acutally let her do a facial for me every week." Melanie smiled as she put an arm around Maria's shoulder and Maria smiled brightly, making Kagome smile in reply.

They seemed to be friends. "Is that how your skin is so flawless?" she asked as she noticed Melanie's blemish free face. "Percisely. Now, let your troubles melt away as you enjoy your day at Shikon Spa. Obviously you know I have to say that cause it's in the workers manual." she said sarcasticly as she exited the room. "You change, while i go get the stuff ready." Maria smiled through her thick accent as she left the room and left Kagome to change into her robe and fuzzy slippers. Luckily Kagome had brought her two peice, kind of anticipating her relaxing sit in the sauna.

It had taken Maria a short amount of time to get whatever 'stuff' she had to get ready cause she was just tying the belt on her robe when she entered the room again. Kagome sat down in the chair and Maria leaned the chair back. "You have good skin. Yes. Very luminous already." Maria said smiling down at her. "Thanks." Kagome said as she blushed slightly. Sure people told her she was beautiful all the time.

That doesn't mean she was used to it, considering she'd gone through the whole 'Ugly Duckling' phase. But had over all come out on top and grown into a beautiful young lady. She had gorgeous wide doe like brown/hazel eyes that seemed to change between honey brown (almost amber) or golden yellow, depending on her emotions. Framed by long lucious lashes that caressed her cheek when her eyes were open. Nice cheek bones and an evenly symetrical face. Bascially a picture perfect paired with her midnight black ebony locks that cascaded down her her back and full lips that were as pink and soft as rose petals.

Kagome closed her eyes as she felt the cleaner applied to her face. 'Wow...smells almost edible.' she thought as Maria began her work. She could feel the muscles in her face begin to relax, which in itself made her whole body relax. Slowly her thoughts faded away as the soothing music coming over the speakers washed over her. Her thoughts soon wandered to her life. And what it was and if she was happy with it.

'Sure, I guess I'm pretty happy. I can dance, which is an incredible gift to me. I have Souta and he has found something that he has loved dearly. But Mom....hm...I don't know what to do. For some odd reason she does not like the fact that I dance. At first when I was younger she thought of it more as a hobbie and wasn't so hard on the subject than she is now, and acutally asked about my lessons. But when I was about thirteen she figured I was serious about my dreams of being a dancer. She then started bugging me about academic, and Harvard and such....' she thought, going off in a rant so long in her head she didn't even notice Maria telling her that her facial was over.

"Oh, uh, thanks. I fell so much better." Kagome said smiling genuinely as Melanie conviently entered the room. "No problem. Anytime." Maria smiled in reply, noticing the honesty in Kagome's eyes. She then turned to Melanie and spoke in spanish, so Kagome had no idea what she was saying. They actually had a short conversation so Kagome was left to wonder what they were talking about. She kind of felt that she was on a foreign planet for a few minutes. "Facial was great wasn't it?" Melanie smiled, gratefully switching back to english as she smiled at Kagome. She nodded in return and stood, nodding at Maria in thanks again.

Melanie led her out of the room and down the hall. "Uh, if you don't mind me asking what was, uh, that, about back there?" Kagome asked hesitantly as their footsteps filled the hall. "Maria just says that your diffrent than most girls that come here. Honest and kind." Melanie said with a smile as she glanced over at Kagome. "Really, Maria said that?" Kagome said blushing a bright red, making her glowing face glow even more. "I asked her she got all that from one facial and she said your eyes say it all. Says you're a gifted girl. I don't know what she goes on about, some spanish folk thing." Melanie waving her hand as if shooing a fly away. "Wow..." Kagome whispered, suprised someone would ever think that about her. And after only meeting her once.

"And this is the sauna. There're hooks inside so you can hand your robe up in there. Uh, you aren't nude are you cause then we'd have to switch you the private ones." Melanie asked, arching an eyebrow as a slightly weirded out tone creeped into her tone. "Nope, bathing suit. I can't even picture being naked outside of my own bathroom." Kagome laughed, not even noticing the relived smile on her face. "Oh but be be on your toes, 'Them' are also in there." Melanie said with a dark tone. She obviously didn't like 'Them' whoever they were.

"Who are they?" Kagome asked as her hand was on the handle of the door, pausing before entering. "Only the most 'popular' girls of Shikon Heights Academy. Of course the sluts." Melanie said and Kagome's mouth formed a small 'o' as she nodded. "Don't worry, I've dealt with them before." Kagome said with a shrug, and they often hated her for some reason. "Ok, but Sango is in there too so at least you'll have someone cool is actually here." Melanie chuckled then turned and walked away, probably off to collect dirty towels and ship them to the washers in back or something like that.

Kagome opened the door and stepped inside. She almost felt as if she were standing in a foreign land it was so hot and steamy inside. But the heat was welcomed considering she was very cold by the end of her facial, so cold that goosebumps were popping up on her skin. "Are you going to stand there all day or sit the fuck down?" came a loud voice from her right. She turned to the side and was suprised to see three girls sitting next to eachother through the steam. The one in the middle was frowning at her. Kagome just ignored her and took her robe off, setting it on a hook. She wasn't here to talk to some stupid bitch. She was here to relax and that was what she was going to do.

She looked towards the back of the large square room, seeing another girl in the back, but she was by herself and had an iPod in her ears. 'Damn, I bet hers is waterproof.' Kagome thought to herself wishing she had of gotten hers waterproof. "Hey." the girl smiled, suprising Kagome, she thought she was listening to music. "Hi. What's up?" Kagome asked, walking towards her but sitting a ways away from her. Somewhere in between, I'm being friendly and think you're cool to to the I don't really know you distance.

The three girls all seemed to gasp loudly as if something scandalous had happened. "Did you see that bitch?" one of the girls said in a slight nasaly voice, which irked Kagome's nerves. "She obviously don't know how things go around here. No one ignores me." the girl in the middle said rolling her neck so hard that her long black hair swayed from side to side. "Oh puh-leese." Kagome muttered as she rolled her eyes making the girl next to her giggle.

"Hey, I'm Sango." she said holding out her hand. "Wait...Sango Mogoami?" Kagome asked reaching out to shake her hand. Sango tilted her head to the side as she looked at Kagome. How did she know her name? Had they met before? Now that she thought about it, those striking brown eyes did look eerily familiar. Kagome gasped a wide smile sprading across her face. "It's me, remember, Kagome Higurashi!" Kagome excalimed and Sango's jaw dropped a smile in her eyes. "Shut.UP!" she screeched in disbelief and happiness as they both shot up and hugged eachother, bouncing up and down. It's two, almost three years since they've seen eachother. How much they've changed!

The three girls on the side just glared at them, hating the fact that they were ignoring them. As they did anyone else who ignored them. Anyone who didn't yeild to their will was basiclly a social oucast, considering they weilded the power to 'socially flush' kids in their school. "Hey, Kikyo, doesn't that name sound familiar?" the girl on the right asked, looking at her. "As a matter of fact, I think it does." Kikyo said as she looked at Kagome once more then sighed as if it was all beneath her. "Kanna, Kagura, let's go. I'm ready for my facial." she said, as if she were talking to her subjects instead of her friends. "Yes Kikyo." they both said in unison and stood, grabbing their robes and putting them on. Then sticking their noses in the air at them left the sauna.

"Well, that suprisingly didn't go as bas it could've." Sango laughed after they were gone, smiling at Kagome. "I can't believe we're seeing eachother again, after so long too! I though I would never see you again!" Kagome said as she wrapped her arms around Sango again. "I know, me too. You didn't tell us where you were moving or what your address so we could write to you. You were bascially moving to the other side of the world." Sango said as she hugged Kagome back.

"So, what are the others up to?" Kagome asked curiously, definetly that New York was definetly NOT bad. She'd been reuinited with one of her best friends, never would she have expected it. Looks like God does want her to be happy after all. "Oh, Rin is here but unfortunately Ayame is still back in Atlanta." Sango said saddening slightly when she talked about Ayame. "But she's working on getting a scholarship so she could be here any time soon." she added making Kagome smile hoepfully.

"I hope she gets in. It would rock to have the old group back together wouldn't it?" Kagome said wistfully remembering all the dancing they did together. "It really would. Still rocking the house?" Sango asked lifting an eyebrow at Kagome laughed. "You know it!" Kagome said with a laugh and Sango smiled. "Good cause me and Rin still do our thang too." Sango said drawing out the word 'thang' as she rolled her body making Kagome laugh.

"So, what are you doing here?" Kagome asked and regret it when Sango's face saddened much more. "My mom and dad died in a house fire. Only me and Kohaku survived. The academy is letting us stay here while we get our education. Once we graduate it's off to college or whatever we wanna do." Sango said waving her head, her tone lightening when she talked about the academy, as if trying to hide her sadness.

"Sango, I'm sure a lot must've happened. I'm so sorry I couldn't have been there. Some friend, huh?" Kagome said as she placed an arm around Sango's shoulder and Sango leaned against her shoulder. They used to do this all the time when they were sad whenever they were bestfriends and hung out with eachother everyday. "It's not your fault. Besides, what matters is that you're here now." Sango said with a smile, this time it truly reached her eyes as she leaned up away from Kagome. She looked up and squinted at the clock through the steam. "Oh gosh, it's an hour until seven. I have to meet Inuyasha at the tennis court!" Sango exclaimed.

Kagome's head snapped towards Sango, instantly recognizing the name. Honestly, who could forget a guy that hot? "Inuyasha? Dude with the silver hair and gorgeous eyes?" Kagome asked as she stood up with Sango, knowing that was going to be late too if she didn't hurry and get back to get changed."You know him?" Sango asked in suprise and Kagome told her of hos he invited her out tonight. "Yeah, he helped me move my TV earlier today." Kagome said with a smile. "Figures. He'd get to see you before me. Especially when he only saw once before you left." Sango pouted as they slipped on their robes and exited the sauna. "I've met him before?" Kagome asked in suprise although didn't doubt it, since he did seem kind of familiar. "Sure you have, don't you remember?" Sango asked.

FLASHBACK....

< i>Suddenly she had the feeling of someone watching her and she turned around, blushing slightly when her gaze locked with the guy that knocked her down, the guy who was also an amazing dancer. "Hold on guys." Kagome interruppted their conversation and they all nodded. Kagome turned around and walked towards him, her stomach fluttering slightly when he smiled, revealing pearly whites to her. When she stood in front of him she pinned him with a slight observing look then smiled herself. "How come you didn't tell me you could dance?" she asked, not noticing the suprise that was in her voice. "You never asked. And how come you didn't tell me YOU could dance, hn?" he chuckled making her blush. "Well...you didn't ask either. And plus you made me mad." Kagome laughed, brushing a peice of hair behind her ear(a nervous habit that she hated). "I'm sorry about that. This chick was chasing me and she kinda scares me." he said, making Kagome laugh."Do girls chase you all the time?" she asked arching a brow. "How can they not? Look at me!" he exclaimed, pointing at himself as he smiled. "Whatever." Kagome rolled her eyes. 'I wonder why I'm not nervous...he is kinda cute. GAH! No, I can't do this now. I'm moving tomorrow. Get it together girl!' she yelled at herself in her head. "What grade are you in anyways?" Kagome asked, looking up at him. He was waaaay taller than her. "8th, you?" he replied. "Nu-uh!" Kagome exclaimed, no way he could be in her grade! The guy rolled his eyes, used to that reaction. A lot of people told him he looked older than what he actually was. "What's your name anyway, you stormed off before I could catch it." he said, slipping his hands into his pockets. "It won't matter, I'm moving tomorrow anyway." Kagome said waving her hand, a slight sadness in her voice now. "Who knows, what if we meet again. I'll need to know your name if we do." he chuckled, making her smile. "Kagome. Kagome Higurashi acutally." she said holding out her hand. "Inuyasha Taishio. Nice meeting you Kagome." he said shaking her hand. 'Too bad you're leaving...you're actually kinda cute. And a good dancer.' he thought as her friends called her, waving their arms at her."Well, duty calls. Nice talking to you." Kagome smiled, then on impulse did something she would never have done if it was her last day here. She stood up on her tip toes and gave him a light peck on the cheek. "That's for actually not being the jerk that I thought you were." she smiled with closed eyes then turned and ran back to her friends, ignoring their squeals as they asked her why she kissed him. 'Definetly too bad she's leaving...' he thought as he put a hand to his cheek.

END FLASH BACK

"That was him?!" Kagome exclaimed as they know walked out the sauna, fully clothed and with only 45 minutes to spare, which was short amount of time for girls like them. She'd thought about him a few days after she'd left but quickly forgot as hse moved two more times and began to get more focused on dance. "Yeah, he changed alot didn't he? Gotten even taller, and man he has muscles. Miroku isn't scronny anymore either." Sango said as they headed the same way. "Wait, where are you going?" Kagome asked in confusion as they neared her apartment yet Sango followed her. "I stay in building D." Sango said. "Me too! Yay!" Kagome said clapping her hands. "I stay on the third floor, number 1607." Kagome said. "So weird, I stay next door to you 1606." Sango said happily as they had reached their building now, and began climbing the stairs.

"Ok, meet you outside in 40 minutes." Kagome said breathily as they had walked the long distance quite fast. "Alright, dress to impress!" Sango sang out happily. "Wait, where are we going?" Kagome asked anxiously, she wouldn't know what to wear if she didn't know where they were going. "Only the hottest dance club in New York City, Paradise." Sango said happily. "There's a club called Paradise?" Kagome asked incredeously. "Anything is possible in New York girl." Sango laughed, then they slid their card keys into the locks and entered their apartment. Luckily her mom wouldn't be back until later but what was worrying her was that Souta wasn't there. Thankfully she found a long note from Souta on her bed. She read it over, her eyes scanning it quickly:

Dear Kagome, I woke up about an hour after you left and went down to the basketball court just to see the apartment.
I met a kid named Shippo and he lives on the first floor below us in apartment 1450
If you want to check on me feel free to come buy, Shippos mom is so COOL! She plays the piano too, she even teaches!
Well anyways, im off to have fun before this letter gets too long
and their phone number is.....

'Whew, I thought something had happened to him. I better call him to make sure he's ok.' Kagome thought as she sat down on her bed and pulled the phone over to her. What was good about these apartments is that they didn't have to wait for electricity or cable to come on like they usually did. After talking to her brother and Shippo's mother for a quick 15 minutes, making sure it would be ok for her brother to hang out for a few hours, she stood and opened her closet. Grabbing her hottest outfit. At least the hottest in her opinion.

She put on clean underwear then slipped on her black middrif top that ended a few centimeters above her belly button and had mesh like sleeves that came to her elbows. She grabbed her favorite blue jeans jeans that were frayed at the bottom, which helped her look, slighlty baggy but they were tight and low on her hips so it looked very cute and still showed she was working with something in a classy way. She could dance in the pants and still look sexy doing it. She didn't have to wear skin tight clothing (although she was fond of tight shirts) or short skirts just to have people look at her when she danced. Her skill alone would do it for her. She slipped on her black tennis shoes especially made for dancing and her black fingerless gloves then went into the bathroom to her makeup and hair. '20 minutes to go.' she thought as she passed the clock hanging on her wall.

Her hair was beyond straigtening from the steam of the sauna so she figured she'd play the curly look up. She parted her hair into three parts in the front in her bathroom mirror and twisted them into twisties, leaving the back down and cascading down her back. Her hair shone healthily as she sprayed Garnier hair spray on it. It gave her long curly hair the wet look although it was dry and would also keep the front in place.

She then began on her make up. Since she was going to a club she decided she would play a bit with her makeup. First she put on a sheer glittery eyeshadow on her eyelid up her eyebrow. Then she put a little black on the creases of her eyelid, making her eyes look more intense and definied as she put eyeliner and mascara on. Then brushing a little mineral blush she hummed as she observed her work. 'Hmm, what to use for my lips. Ha, I know!' she thought triumphantly as she grabbed her orchid red lip stick then her clear lip gloss. She rubbed on the orchid lip stick, her lips changing from lucious pink to ruby red, if possible making her lips looked even fuller. She blotted it to dim the color then put on the lip glow. 'It's as good as it's gonna get.' she thought as she looked in the mirror.

It was almost as if she were seeing herself for the first time. The eye makeup made her eyes more bright as her emotions, which were VERY happy, had made her eyes change to a golden glowing brown. Her hair fell down her shoulders and back. Her stomach, taunt and toned had a belly ring in it with a light blue gem charm hanging from it. Her mom still hadn't found out about it. And she never would considering she'd wear a jacket just in case her mom was back when she came back later. 'Get ready, set, have fun!' Kagome thought happily to herself as she grabbed her black jacket and left the house.

She let her jacket stay open since her mom wasn't around and made sure the door was locked behind her. She turned around and smiled when she saw Sango. She was wearing black jeans that were wide legged and slight baggy and tight around her hips like Kagome's were tool. Except the had on a red middrif tube top with a black cropped jacket so you couldn't tell it was a tube top. She had on fingerless gloves too but they ended about hald way up her arm. "Looks like we have similar tastes." Kagome giggled as they began to walk down the stairs, the sun setting and promising a night dancing and fun.

Kagome felt the butterflies begin to set in as they neared the court. 'Why am I getting so nervous? I wasn't nervous when I talked to him earlier.' she thought as she took a deep breath to calm her nerves. "What's wrong Kagome, are you nervous. Do you like Inuyasha?" Sango asked as they walked, making Kagome blush and stutter a bit. "N-no. I'm not nervous. I just have never been to a club before. I am only 17 ya know." Kagome said as they entered the gates onto the tennis court, her eyes instantly went to the two guys who were leaning against the fence. "Good, cause you have to be 17 to get in this club." Sango smiled as they neared them.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Sango smiled as the guy with dark hair whistled. "Hello beautiful. What is your name?" he asked as he walked over and took Kagome's hand, stroking the top of it with his thumb. "Uh, Kagome. Uh, could I have my hand back?" Kagome asked when he began to start kissing her hand. "Stop it ya pervert!" Sango said, smacking upside the back of his head with her hand. "Ow! Sango my dear, why must you hurt me so?" he cried out, holding the back of his head.

'Does he always talk like that?' Kagome thought as she her eyebrows rose in amusement. "Cause you're a perv that's why. Oh Kagome, this lecher here is Miroku. You obviously have met Inuyasha." Sango said as she pushed Kagome closer to Inuyasha, making her blush a bit which only resulted in Inuyasha smirking cockily at her. 'Is that a smirk? Oh he is so full of himself....I'll have to knock him down a few knotchess tonight.' Kagome thought, her own smirk coming onto her face. She could remember what he said about how girls couldn't help BUT chase him. So obviously he was confident, if not a little cocky.

"So, Sango told you where we were going tonight right?" Inuyasha asked as they stood, the last of the sun's lights disappaearing as the sun set. "Yeah, her description was a night of dancing and fun." Kagome said. "Well, we'd be going as soon as Rin gets here, she always has to take so long." Sango sighed, as if this was an ordinary thing that she was used to.

After about 15 more minuted they heard running footsteps and Kagome turned around. She gasped when she saw a petite and slightly short girl heading their way. As she neared Kagome noticed that her hair which looked black was really a navy blue when the lighth hit it. Her make-up was done beautifully and she was dressed in a middrif white baby tee with a dark green long sleevd cropped jacket with slightly baggy but hip hugger like jeans that were similar and yet diffrent from Kagome's and Sango's.

"Kagome? Is that you?" Rin said in awe as she looked at Kagome. "Rin?! You're hair! I love it!" Kagome squealed. "Yay! The gang's almost back together!" Rin sang as she, Kagome, and Sango linked hands and began to jump in circles. "Man, who knew girls could be so...." Miroku trailed off as she tried to find a word to descrbe their behavior. "Girly?" Inuyasha ventured and Miroku nodded. "Exaclty." he said with an affirmative nod as if studying a science experiment.

"So, now can we go dance?" Kagome asked excitedly, she was totally ready to dance with her old girls again. 'If only Ayame were here...' Kagome thought wistfully as they began their walk out of the tennsi court. "How exactly are we getting there?" Kagome asked as they walked through the dark parking lot, she was walking in between Sango and Inuyahsa and for some odd reason, kept on bumping into Inuyasha as they walked.

"I'm driving!" Rin chirped happily. "No way! I remember last time. I'm driving!" Inuyasha argued, as Rin pouted. "Nope, I'm not falling for that. Last time I did i almost lost my life." Inuyashe said with a snort. "You're so mean Inu. Insulting my dirving skills. Kagome! Inuyasha's bullying me!" Rin poued, fake crying although it sounded quite real. "Inuyasha!" Kagome scolded as Inuyasha scoffed indignantly, feeling everything was unfair.

They came to up a black Cystler 300. "Wow, my dream car." Kagome said with sparkling eyes as she hugged the car. Everyone stared at her awkwardly as she happily had her 'moment' with the car. "What? I can't appreicate the beauty of the car?" she asked defensively as she crossed her arms, her belly button jewel glittering in the moonlight. "Just get in the car, weirdo." Inuyasha chuckled friendly. "You're the weirdo. Weirdo." Kagome countered making everyone laugh as they climed inside the car.

'Maybe I can live here...with my old and only true friend by my side. I can be strong. Both for myself and Souta.' she thought as the car started and the music on the radio filled the car, the bass so loud Kagome felt it in her chest. "Whooo-hoo! Club Paradise here we come!" Miroku cheered as Rin clapped her hands and cheered too. "Those too." Sango laughed as Inuyasha chuckled. Kagome smiled, it was almost as if she never left. Except they were older, could drive, and Ayame wasn't here. They pulled out of the parking lot and drove down the mile long drive way that led from the resort looking aprtment complex. 'Finally, a night just to dance and be free.' Kagome thought as she sat in the back in between Sango and Rin as they began to talk about everything that has happened over the last 2-3 years.
