         Demires: City Of The Damned

         Two: Kagome

I can't believe what's happening. The thought of our entire race being destroyed...

Ancient legends say that if you kill the dominant leader of a race, every creature bitten or created by that individual dies also.

In other words, Kenjin means to kill Inuyasha to deplete the entire demire race. And the only way to defeat the vampires is to kill Kenjin.

         Sounds just great.

I look over to Inuyasha who has his fists clenched. I put my hand on his shoulder in hopes to calm him. He only shrugs my touch off and continues to glare at the door Kenjin walked out of.

         "Inuyasha, please, don't -"

"No, Kagome. I'm sorry. Let's go home," he says, just loud enough for me to hear him over the blaring music.

I follow him out of the club, eager to talk to him about the situation. I know about it in brief, but the things Inuyasha are feeling...they are way beyond my understanding. He has a connection with Kenjin - a rather big one, might I add - and if I was him, I don't think I'd be able to go on. The fact that the one who created him has come back to destroy us...

Not to say that Inuyasha was literally created by Kenjin. Anything bitten by Kenjin is considered his son or daughter, and anything bitten by him is considered a creation of his.

We walk home in silence, words that need to be spoken untouched. It's clearly not the time to discuss what happened.

Once we reach our destination, I go straight to our bedroom. I'm exhausted, considering that it's almost six o'clock in the morning.

To lazy to do anything but sleep, I lay down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling and thinking about tonight's events. Kenjin hates Inuyasha and me. Inuyasha is considered a disgrace to him; even a bigger sin. But what I don't understand is why Kenjin thinks he can kill him. Demires are obviously stronger than vampires, but then again, Kenjin is the vampires' creator, making him twice as strong.

I've decided that this is going to be one hell of a dispute.

&nb sp;       I feel Inuyasha lay down and wrap his arms around me as I snuggle closer to his chest. We lay their, completely quiet, giving each other both some time to think.

"I'm going to have to kill him, Kagome," Inuyasha nearly whispers.

"I know," I whisper back, having come to the same conclusion. "But isn't there any other way you can think of?"

"No. And why not kill him? He ruined my life. He ruined yours. Why not?"

"I guess you're right," I say and sigh. "I just don't want you to get hurt, that's all."

"I won't," he says, running his fingers through my hair. He kisses my forehead. "I love you."

"I love you, too," I whisper, sleep taking over.

I awake sooner than I think, but only because Inuyasha is not next to me.

Shrugging the fact off, figuring he went out to feed, I change out of my smoke-scented clothes and into a cleaner outfit.

I walk out of the room, a strange feeling of loneliness coming over me. Inuyasha hardly ever leaves without me. He most likely did not want to wake me.

The house has been a lot quieter since Inuyasha's friend left. I'm just glad that everything turned out okay for him.

In fact, I'm glad his friend was bitten by a demire in the first place.

If Inuyasha had not needed my help to deplete the demire change of his friend a month ago, I would not be here with him. What happened - me deciding to let Inuyasha turn me - was kind of unexpected, but I'm thankful none the less.

I walk down the darkened hallway, hoping to find some sign of where Inuyasha really went. Or more information about Kenjin that might be laying around here somewhere. I finally come to one of the bookshelves at the end of the hall, and I kneel down to see what all rests there.

         Nothing about vampires.

I only wish I could be more help to Inuyasha in his problem with Kenjin. I really don't know a lot of Inuyasha's story. I guess I'll find out when the time is right.

I hear the front door open, signaling Inuyasha's home, and jump at the sound. I run to the door to greet him, almost excited that he's back.

When I reach him, I don't even have to ask why he ran home. I don't even have to ask why he locked the door. I don't even have to ask about the expression on his face.

I just look at him in awe. My voice is almost a whisper. "He's really done it, hasn't he?"
