Chapter 10: Off Days

Rin left the medical room after sleeping in bed for almost a day. She couldn't stand being in bed and unable to work for too long. For an energetic person since she was a child Rin couldn't stay put for long not to say asking her to stay in bed for a week. It would be like a death punishment to her.

Only wearing a sheer white gown she padded down the deserted hallway to the shooting room. Peeping into the room to make sure the coast was clear before she stepped inside with a smile on her face by her success.

Sesshoumaru cursed inwardly when he found the medical room empty when he went to visit her. Following Rin's smell closely he made his way to where she had headed. He stopped outside the room when he heard shots even though it was very soft. He did remember Miroku mentioned before about sound proof rooms. So he gathered that she must be in one of those rooms for the sounds she was making inside the room were so soft he was sure that no human ears will be able to hear them.

Pushing his card into the machine the door slid opened. He stepped inside to see Rin in a white gown, headphones over her ears and both her arms raised holding onto a gun steadily as she shot aiming for the red dot in the middle of the board.

Feeling someone had entered the room, Rin stopped and turned to see who it was. She smiled slightly when she saw Sesshoumaru standing by the door watching her. She took off her headphones and placed the gun down on the stand and spoke.

"Sesshoumaru, I didn't expect to see you. I thought Dr. Suikotsu had come to usher me back to bed."

"You should be in bed."

"If you make me stay in bed for another minute, I can tell you that I will get sick!!!" Rin protested agitated.

Sesshoumaru saw Rin frowning at him and inclined his head slightly. He had never seen anyone as lively as Rin. Even in her weak condition she still had the strength to move about not say come to practice on her shooting.

"Please don't make me go back to bed!!!!" Rin pleaded when Sesshoumaru remained silent.

However, both of them stiffened when they heard voices coming their way.

"Oh no!!!!" Rin whispered.

Quickly she went up to Sesshoumaru and grabbed his hand into hers pulling him with her as she move swiftly to a shadowy corner in the room. Gently pushing Sesshoumaru into that narrow shadowy corner, she stepped in with their faces facing each other. They waited and saw Sango and Kagome walking into the room.

"I thought I heard her voice in here." Kagome said looking around.

"Well, I think she left after she heard us coming." Sango said as she picked up the gun Rin had left behind.

"Well, better go look for her and make sure she gets back to bed."

"Why have she got to be so disobedient."

Sango and Kagome sighed and left the room.

Rin started to giggle softly seeing both her friends failing to look for her.

Sesshoumaru watched Rin through expressionless face though their faces were so close together just another inch he could have stolen a kiss. Rin had no idea that she was standing so close to him, lean forward as her forehead touched Sesshoumaru's chin softly.

With a slight gasp Rin looked up into the cold expressionless golden orbs which stared back at her. She blushed slightly.

"Sorry…" She mumbled, looking away and quickly stepping out from the cram corner but Sesshoumaru grabbed her back.

Slightly taken aback Rin turned back to look at him. He was watching her intently as he slowly lowered his head to hers. Rin jerked back backwards quickly but was greeted with the wall behind her back in process knocking her head lightly on the wall.

"How long are you still going to resist me?" Sesshoumaru asked softly.

"As long as it takes!!!!" Rin squeaked.

"You know you want me, as much as I want you Rin. Why try to deny it."

"You are a demon and I'm human. They won't let us be together!!!!"

"Anyone who tries to stop me, will die!!!"

"You can't oppose them Sesshoumaru."

"Who are you talking about?"

"The Empire of the Sun!" Rin said sadly. "I had been in hiding from them since I was born because of my differences. They rule the human galaxy and have the fascination to take rare specimen or leaving things to experiment. Kaede-sama is always afraid that they will one day take me in and cut me open or something like that."

Sesshoumaru frowned at the thought those human beings trying to hurt Rin he tighten his hold around her.

"I won't let anything happen to you." He said as his beautiful eyes bored into hers.

Rin smiled softly.

"Arigatou…" She whispered. "But you cannot stop the Empire of the Sun if they have their mind settle on something. For years they had tried many experiments to revive Earth though they failed. In fact putting lots of other humans to death on this mission."

Sesshoumaru watched Rin's sad face wonderingly.

"You wish to stay on Earth?" He asked after a moment of silent.

"Let me show you something." Rin said brightening up slightly. "I always love to be there when I'm down or when I need a place to think. It is very beautiful and quiet there."

Taking Sesshoumaru's hand in hers again she led him out of the shadowy corner and out of the room. They made their way down the corridor quietly, as she kept looking at corners cautiously to make sure no one saw her.

Sesshoumaru watched Rin pulling him along with her in her white gown, her long straight hair sway behind her back gracefully as she walked barefooted down the corridor as quietly as she can. She looked like an enchanted nymph in Sesshoumaru's eyes.

Unaware at how Sesshoumaru was looking her, Rin ushered him to a lift. After taking the lift which brings that upwards the mother ship and Rin turned another few more corners, they finally reached a double metal door at the end of a corridor.

Rin placed her palm on a panel to identify her print and the doors slide opened. She pulled Sesshoumaru into the room and the door slid shut automatically.

"Here we are…" Rin whispered with a dainty smile.

Sesshoumaru looked around the room in amazement though his expression remained cold and void. The place was large with trees and flowers grew around the place. It looked very much like a beautiful reserved forest. There was even grass on the floor what looked like a fountain which resembles a waterfall from the rocks at the far end of the wall.

"Kaede-sama told me that there were places like this once on Earth long time ago." Rin spoke as Sesshoumaru drank in the view before him. "I had always dream of seeing Earth alive with living things again. Though I wonder if this dream will ever come true."

Sesshoumaru looked up and saw the clear dark star filled sky of the universe for the ceiling was made of see through bullet proof glass.

"We used to have functions here, for this is a place which everyone likes best." Rin continued when Sesshoumaru remained silent. "But recently, more trees seemed to be dying off and flowers didn't bloom as much as it used to. So this place had been shut down to reserve the greens though I still come here sometimes to relax."

"Earth was once like this before humans start killing the trees…" Sesshoumaru whispered softly and angrily.

Rin blinked turning to Sesshoumaru slightly stunned.

"Earth used to be filled with greens and the sky was clear blue." Sesshoumaru continued. "But later in years when human started with their technology as they called it. Trees were chop down, the air and rivers where polluted."

Rin's eyes filled with tears slowly, wondering what Sesshoumaru said was true.

Sesshoumaru stopped talking when he smelt saltiness from Rin. A smell which tells him tears. He turned around to face Rin and saw tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I never knew for I was born on Eternal…" Rin answered softly, looking down the ground, her voice quivering. "Why would they kill something so beautiful…?"

Sesshoumaru soften slightly watching the innocent girl before him. She may be strongest female human he had ever met and the best combatant in the galaxy but, her innocence would hurt her anytime. He raised his hand gently touching the side of her cheek rubbing his thumb on her cheek wiping the tears away in process.

Gradually Rin looked up and Sesshoumaru leaned over capturing her mouth into his and pulling her closer to him with his other hand.

Rin didn't pull away as she let Sesshoumaru kissed her. This time his kiss was gentle though firm. She could feel his hard muscled body pressing onto her soft feminine one though she didn't care and slowly raising both her hands she encircled them around Sesshoumaru's waist.

When Sesshoumaru felt Rin's embraced he deepened his kiss plunging his tongue into her mouth teasing her every corner of her mouth. Gradually he felt Rin's tongue touching his and he smiled inwardly. She had finally given in to him.

Unaware by the both of them, Eri stood outside the door watching them slightly stunned. Biting her bottom lip, she walked away pretending that she didn't see anything. Though in her heart she was afraid. If anyone finds out about this relationship between Rin and Sesshoumaru, things wouldn't be pleasant. Especially if the Empire of the Sun knows about this. It would be both Rin's and Sesshoumaru's death toll.
