Chapter 4

Kagome frowned and pulled back slightly from him. “What do you mean you did see Kikyou earlier tonight?” Inuyasha looked away from her in guilt. “After I talked to that youkai woman, I saw Kikyou’s soul collectors and found her sitting on the lip of the bone eaters well.” Kagome bit her bottom lip and looked down the carpeted floor. “So... you just talked to her right? I mean did she say anything about the jewel and what about your promise to her? You never answered my question.”

“I talked to her about all of that. About the jewel and the promise. She told me she no longer wanted to take me to hell nor die for that matter. She decided she would wonder the lands and help villages in need and that I could go on with my life.” Kagome arched an eyebrow and grabbed his chin turning him so she could look in his eyes.

“Is that all?”she asked gazing deeply into their amber depths, looking for any trace of deception. For a second she thought she saw something flicker in his them, but as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared so she couldn’t be certain. ‘Should I tell her?’ he thought to himself. ‘No. If she knew what Kikyou and I had done she would want nothing more to do with me. Hell, I wouldn’t want anything to do with me.’ Inuyasha frowned somewhat. “Keh! If there was more don’t you think I would fuckin tell you?” Kagome laughed sarcastically. “Hmm...no.”

Inuyasha pushed her off his lap as she started laughing and Kagome gracefully landed on her feet moving back behind him to finish his hair. Her expression turned serious as she contemplated everything he had just told her. ‘If Inuyasha becomes a full demon, I wonder if he’ll be able to control it. I hope he will.’ Once all the tangles were gone, she brushed his hair now just to soothe him. He still appeared tensed she placed her hand upon his head and scratched behind his right ear.

He leaned into her hand and closed his eyes as something like a purr erupted from deep within his chest cavity. Kagome giggled and used her other hand to scratch his other ear. Inuyasha leaned his head back against her chest, his purring becoming louder. Kagome blushed somewhat as his head laid against her breast, but continued to scratch his ears. Soon he was relaxed, and ministrations were causing something unwanted to tense up so Inuyasha moved his head away from her hands and stood up to stretch.

Kagome watched him quietly as he ran his hand through his hair to make sure she had gotten all the tangles out, then turned to her. “Kagome,” he trailed off as if he was at a loss of words, but then he grabbed her and brought her to him in an embrace. “Kagome, I was serious about before. I want you to come with me tomorrow and live with me when I become a full youkai.”

Could she? Could she leave behind her friends and family forever to go with the hanyou she loved back to the feudal era and never return. ‘Well I can return...I mean the well isn’t going to close because he’s not using the jewel, but still.’ Placing her index finger in her mouth, she nibbled on it thoughtfully as Inuyasha pushed her back gently and watched her.

Finally after some time, Kagome reverted from her trance and looked up at him; she smiled. “Yes Inu-chan. I would love to live with you in the feudal era.” Inuyasha smirked and lifted her into his arms, twirling her around before setting her back on her feet. He brought the back of his hand up to her cheek and brushed across it; his eyes looking from her lips and back up to her radiant orbs. “Thank you Kagome-chan,” he murmured. Kagome nodded and looked at his lips too, then back up into his amber pools.

Her eyes widened as she felt the softness of his lips against hers in a soft kiss. ‘Oh Kami! Inuyasha’s kissing me!!’ she thought as a blush spread across her cheeks. Inuyasha moved his other hand up and cupped her other cheek. Kagome was completely tensed up, but as the kiss began to take effect on her senses, she closed her eyes and pressed her hands against his chest, leaning further into the kiss.

As he felt her finally responding, Inuyasha moved his hands to her hips and pulled her against his body. Her hands moved from his chest up to his shoulders as the kiss began to intensify. His tongue brushed against her bottom lip, begging for entrance, so Kagome obliged and shyly ran her tongue against his.

After a few minutes, they both pulled away panting for air with their foreheads pressed against the others staring into the windows of their souls. “Kagome,” he whispered. Kagome smiled then pulled away from him. “I’m going to get dressed for bed and I expect you to still be here,” she warned with a grin. “And where the hell do you think I’m goin’ to go with these on?” he asked, pointing at the boxers. “Good point.” Kagome quickly made her way to her drawer and grabbed a pair of pajama pants and a tank top before going into the bathroom and closing the door.

When she emerged a short time later, she found Inuyasha laying on her bed, facing the wall under the covers, asleep. She smiled and made her way towards the bed and climbed in next to Inuyasha. She clicked off the lamp on her bedside table and settled down to sleep, when a pair of arms wrapped around her waist. Sighing, she closed her eyes and settled back against his chest both falling into a dreamless slumber.
