InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demons in Disguise ❯ Beautiful Dreamers ( Chapter 12 )
A few moments later they pulled away, still trapped in each other's gaze. Sesshou ran his finger along her bottom lip and she smiled. She twirled her index finger around a lock of his silken white hair and watched as the hair danced around her finger.
"I think you've forgotten, Sesshou, that I could legally go out on my own when I was sixteen; two years ago," Rin informed him.
"Huh, you're eighteen then? I'm nineteen. I just realized that you had never told me your age before," Sesshou pointed out with a grin. "But I guess it wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway. Yet, if you were so miserable with the foster homes then why didn't you leave when you were sixteen?"
"I never had anywhere to go," she looked back up, a smile on her face. "Until now."
"Of course," Sesshou said. He stroked her cheek lovingly. "Would you like to sleep in my bed with me tonight? It's not much better than this cushion, but better nonetheless."
Rin let Sesshou's words soak in then hesitated. She could tell by the look in his eyes what he really meant. That if she did go to bed with him they wouldn't be sleeping at all.
"Well, I just don't think I'm ready, Sesshou. I love you and I do trust you completely, but I'm just not ready yet," she told him. Sesshou hummed thoughtfully and nodded.
"I understand, Rin," he smiled. "And I respect your decision. I can wait for as long as you wish, and when you are ready I'll be right here."
"I know you will. Thanks," Rin said.
"You know, Rin, my bed is still better then the cushion. If you wanted to just sleep in my bed with me, you may. Like you said, you can trust me," Sesshou offered.
"I'd like that," Rin beamed at him.
"Come on then, my dear," Sesshou stood and helped Rin up as well. They walked together into his bedroom with their arms around each other's shoulder. Sesshou allowed Rin to use the bathroom to change into a sweatshirt and sweatpants for pajamas while he changed into a sweater and snow jeans. The comforters weren't nearly enough to keep them heated through the night. The heat in the building had long been on the fritz, and even if it was working Sesshou wouldn't have enough money to pay the heat bill.
"I can still feel the cold even with these heavy clothes," Rin shivered as she sat on the futon with Sesshou next to her. He unplugged the small green lamp that had been lighting the room. At Rin's words, he bent over and rubbed her shoulders for her while she watched him. Rin looked to his forehead and could just barely make out the shape of a crescent on his brow. Before she had a chance to inspect the shape closer Sesshou spoke.
"We'll have to keep each other warm then," he cooed. Rin responded with a nod and a yawn. Both of them pulled the covers close to their chins. Rin turned on her side with her back to Sesshou. She pressed her back as close to Sesshou as she could while he wrapped his arms around her. Sesshou whiffed her fragrant black thick hair when a few strands fell in front of his face. He leaned his mouth close to her ear so that Rin could feel his tepid breath graze her earlobe and cheek.
"Sleep well, my sweet," Sesshou whispered tenderly. Rin closed her eyes and practically melted as Sesshou's body heat warmed her to the bones even though the air around them was practically frozen. They each fell asleep with the warmth of love radiating throughout their bodies. Strangely, while sleeping in such close proximity, they shared the same dream.
The dark sky was blanketed with spongy white clouds, hiding the moon and stars from the sleeping world. Save for two special people. One was a young Flower Maiden who spun and twirled on the soft white clouds. The maiden had hair thick and black like dense smoke, skin the hue of fresh peaches, hazel eyes like chestnuts, and a smile that could soften the hardest hearts. She wore an elegant kimono made from pearly satin fabric. Fine flowers were sewn into the fabric with pastel colors like tangerine, lilac, sage, and rosy pink. Draped across her shoulders were lavender feather-light silks and she wore a sash of the same fabric and texture. In her hair she wore a garland of white lilies and fresh lotuses. A full moon shined on her, much larger than she had ever before witnessed.
An Ivory Prince appeared out of the moonlight, and the Flower Maiden paused as he approached her. His golden eyes were fixed in her sight as he neared. He grasped her palm in his pallid hand and brought it to his lips for a soft kiss. Without a pause, the Prince twirled the Flower Maiden and dipped her low to the clouds they stood upon. He lifted her straight and his silver hair flowed with her black tresses creating a lovely mixture of platinum and obsidian. He clasped his right hand around hers, and placed his left one in the arch of her back. She placed her left hand on his shoulder and looked up at his handsome face. The cordial couple began to spin and waltz atop the wispy clouds. Perfectly in tune with each other.
The Flower Maiden's body seemed to give off a light of its own; pink like a rosebud. The Ivory Prince's body glowed with a similar luminescence, only the light he gave off was cerulean like the day sky. Together, they danced a beautiful dance to the music of the twinkling stars. The stars sung a slow but spirited song of love lost and love found. The fairytale story of the Ivory Prince and the Flower Maiden who danced below them. The rosy and azure lights shining off their bodies glowed together like two ribbons of light flowing through space. The vapors of the clouds lifted and churned beneath their feet as they glided across the soft surface.
True to nature, the Flower Maiden's smile softened both her own heart and the once cold iron heart of the Ivory Prince. The love and devotion between them was more powerful then the bond between the sun and the moon. The affection they felt for each other linked their hearts and strengthened their souls'. The Flower Maiden and the Ivory Prince continued to dance throughout the night while the stars sang their glorious serenade and the moon's glow fell upon their flesh.
