InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demons in Disguise ❯ The Unknown Brother ( Chapter 25 )
A/N: A quick recap; Rin jumped down the Bone Eater's well (don't ask me how, I couldn't think of a good reason >.<) and Sesshou followed her. He was transported to the Feudal Ages (he has no idea where he is though, obviously) and also he can't find Rin so he went off to search for her. Well, that about covers it so grab your popcorn and now for our feature presentation…

Back at the village, Kagome carried the girl she had found near the well back into her cottage. She laid her down on a soft mat, brushing the hair away from her face. Kagome pulled out a cloth from her back pack, dipped it in a water basin near the corner of the room, then placed it on the girl's forehead. Inuyasha walked through the door and looked down at them.
"Does she have any serious injuries?" he asked.
"Luckily, no," Kagome shook her head. "I think she just got knocked out somehow. But the strange thing is…well, look at her clothes."
Kagome pulled back the sheet so that her husband could see.
"Huh?" Inuyasha's ears twitched. "Those look like clothes from the modern era."
"Yeah," Kagome confirmed. "You don't suppose…"
Kagome was interrupted when a they heard screams outside coming from a few of the villagers. Inuyasha hastened out of the cottage and ran to the source of the shouts. He hurried until he found the two villagers running from the edge of the forest where the Bone Eater's Well was located.
"Wait, you two!" Inuyasha stopped them. "What's all the commotion about?"
"Demon!" one of the villagers warned. "His hair was silver, and the sign of the blue moon on his brow!"
The villagers broke free of his grip and ran screaming into the village. Inuyasha stood there, his eyebrows knitted together as he considered what the villager said.
"Silver hair? Blue moon?" his voice became lower. "Could it be…? Nah, he disappeared years ago. But still…"
Inuyasha's ears perked when he heard an all-too familiar voice call out from the woods.
"Hello? Anyone there?!" the voice called. Inuyasha scowled as the figure emerged from the bushes. His eyes narrowed and his voice was unpleasantly surprised.
"Sesshoumaru!"
The man looked up and seemed genuinely shocked.
"That's what Rin called me," he said, his voice too low for the man to hear. Sesshou then spoke louder. "And you're that Inuyasha guy I saw at in the courtyard! Don't I know you from somewhere?"
"Feh! Don't act stupid, Sesshoumaru," Inuyasha spat. It was then that Inuyasha noticed that the man he suspected to be his half-brother looked much different from the last time he saw Sesshoumaru. "What's your game? Why do you look so different? Is this some sort of trick?! And your clothes look…look like they come from Kagome's era."
Inuyasha was absolutely puzzled now. Sesshou was the same.
"Huh? What are you talking about? And who's this 'Sesshoumaru' guy?" Sesshou inquired. Inuyasha growled and unsheathed his Tetsaiga. At seeing the large sword, Sesshou took a step back.
"Oh, don't act like you haven't seen this before! You're not fooling anyone!" Inuyasha snarled. "I don't know what kind of trick you're pulling, but I'm not falling for it!"
Inuyasha charged and swung his sword at Sesshou. Frightened, Sesshou zoomed out of the way. Inuyasha pivoted and charged again, swinging his sword madly. With each swing Sesshou zipped away, but he was starting to tire down.
"Why aren't you fighting back?" Inuyasha panted as he swiped at his assumed brother. "And where's that Toukijin of yours, huh? This all part of your scheme? Answer me, Sesshoumaru!"
Inuyasha brought his sword down and Sesshou jumped away just in time. Becoming increasingly annoyed, Sesshou clenched his fanged teeth and rose his hand in the air.
"You idiot! I…am…not…SESSHOUMARU!!" he exclaimed. He swung his arm down releasing the green energy cord from his finger tips. Inuyasha rolled away just in time and rose his own claws in the air.
"Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!!" He announced, and brought his claws down on Sesshou's side. Taken by surprise, Sesshou's left arm took the brunt of the blow, and he was sent flying back into the tree. Panting hard, he gripped his bleeding arm to stop the flow of blood. Inuyasha stopped in his tracks and let his sword hang limp in his hand. His eyes were wide, and his face was stunned. He approached slowly and looked down at the injured demon.
"Wow," he droned. "You really aren't Sesshoumaru."
"Why do you believe me now?" Sesshou grunted.
"Because," Inuyasha concluded. "The real Sesshoumaru would have easily dodged an attack like that."

A/N: There ya go! PLEASE review! By the way, someone in the reviews asked me if the original Sesshoumaru was still alive in the Feudal Ages and the answer is yes and no. Confused? Well a quick trip back to Chapter 18 'Meanwhile…' should clear things up ^.~
