"Because," Inuyasha concluded. "The real Sesshoumaru would have easily dodged an attack like that."

Back at the cottage, the girl was beginning to stir. Kagome waited patiently until she heard Inuyasha approach. She also heard someone else was with him.

"Well, sweetie, did you find out why the--oh my god!" Kagome startled when Inuyasha walked through the entrance with a man who had a striking resemblance to his older brother Sesshoumaru. "Inuyasha, is that--!"

"Settle down, Kagome, it isn't him," Inuyasha set him down in the corner of the room. "I don't know who he is, but it's not Sesshoumaru."

"If you'll give me a freaking second, I'll tell you who I am!" Sesshou shouted, clearly fed up. The two looked at him expectantly. "Thank you. Anyway, my name is Sesshou; not Sesshou-maru! I really don't where I am. You see, I live in a rundown apartment complex near my University. Recently I've been going through some…changes. As in these markings on my face, the color of my eyes, and more physical alterations. Not only that, I've aquired these, uh, abilities. Actually very destructive abilities. I…I don't know what is happening to me. I've actually hurt people…killed people. My whole life is plunging down the drain. This all happened when I met a girl named Rin. I fell in love with her and ended up following her to a shrine where I saw the two of you. We went down the same well thing as you guys and I can't find her and…well, here I am."

"Rin?" Kagome said thoughtfully. "I could swear that's the name of the girl that followed Sesshoumaru around. She disappeared a little before he did."

Kagome suddenly remembered the girl behind her and she looked back.

"Is this the Rin you're looking for?" Kagome moved away from the girl she was sitting in front of. Sesshou smiled and hurried over to her side.

"Yes! That's Rin!" He shook her gently. "Rin? Are you awake?"

Rin's eyes fluttered open and she smiled when she saw Sesshou's face. Wasting no time, she sat up and embraced him tightly.

"Sesshou! I'm so glad it's you!" Rin chirped. She looked over Sesshou's shoulder and saw the two other people, both of which she recognized from somewhere. "Uh, hello. Who are you guys?"

Sesshou turned around and gestured to the couple.

"This is Kagome and Inuyasha. I can't tell you much more than that," he smirked. Rin smiled courteously and waved.

"Hi, nice to meet you," she greeted. But if you wouldn't mind telling us where we are exactly?"

Kagome nodded and explained to them about the Bone Eaters Well and where it transported them. For some reason, being in the Feudal Era didn't quite startle either of them too much.

"So you two are from the modern era?" Kagome insinuated. Rin and Sesshou nodded. "Huh. Well, if your from the modern era then that must mean Sesshoumaru died somehow. You're probably his reincarnation."

"Alright, so this 'Sesshoumaru' fellow. Who is he and why does everyone seem to think I'm him?"

"I'll explain this one, Kagome," Inuyasha declared. He plopped down on the floor near Sesshou. "Sesshoumaru is a demon in this era. Technically, he was a human-hating, cold-hearted, stuck-up, egotistic--"

"Ahem, I think we get the idea," Kagome touched Inuyasha's arm.

"Oh, right," Inuyasha continued. "Sesshoumaru was also my older brother. Half-brother actually. Different mothers. Unlike my brother, I'm a half-demon and he considered me a shame to the family. He was really proud. Too proud, if you ask me. Anyway he was also a noble. Lord of the Western Lands or something. Doesn't matter to me. Not like I was ever invited to his estate for sake and a party. He had this sword, too, the Tensaiga. It was sorta like a twin to mine except mine can kill 100 demons. His could heal 100 humans. Since he wasn't much of a human lover so he really hated his sword. After come failed attempts of trying to get mine, he had some evil guy make him a powerful sword called the Toukijin. We never got along; him and I. It got to a point where we weren't trying to kill each other every time we met, but we never acted like actual brothers or anything."

"Oh," Sesshou said, not sure how to react. "Well, then how do I resemble him?"

"If it weren't for your clothes, you could be his twin," Inuyasha pointed out. "Your facial structure and markings are just like his. Your hair's the same color but his was much longer. Also, you still have you left arm. Even though I took a pretty good slash at it, not to mention that wound you already had."

"What do you mean I still have my left arm?" Sesshou inquired.

"Honestly, I chopped his left arm off when I first got the Tetsaiga. That was a real win for me," Inuyasha smiled nostalgically. "He was in dog form at the time."

"Wait, hold on," Sesshou interrupted. " Did you say 'dog form'?"

"Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that Sesshoumaru was a dog demon," he added. "He could transform into his true form; basically a giant dog."

"Is that so?" Sesshou asked rhetorically. Apparently he had inherited the bulk of Sesshoumaru's powers. Yet the idea of transforming into a giant dog didn't quite appeal to him.

"Like a big fluffy puppy," Rin giggled.

"Oh that reminds me," Inuyasha said. "He wore thick whites clothing, unique armor, and he had a large fluffy pelt flung around his right shoulder."

"By the way, if Rin is from the modern era then that means that this era's Rin must have died too," Kagome brought up.

"I guess that'd make sense," Rin said, not really satisfied with this answer.

"That's too bad," Kagome frowned. "Poor Rin. Dying at only five years old."

Rin's head perked up as she made a revelation.

"Did you say five years old?" Rin questioned hopefully. Kagome nodded.

"Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?" Kagome wondered. All eyes were on Rin.

"I was found wondering the streets when I was five years old. I have little memory before then, but I do remember purple magic lights like the magic in the Bone Eater's Well. Every now and then I get little flashbacks from before that. Just bits and pieces. What I remembered most clearly was a man I described as my Ivory Prince. And in my dreams he looked exactly like the 'Sesshoumaru' person you described."

"That is strange," Kagome hummed. "If you were a reincarnation then I don't think you'd have memories like that. Also the amnesia and the purple lights. I suppose you could've been thrown into the Bone Eater's Well when you were five. But why?"

A strong silence fell over all of them as they thought back to thirteen years ago. The same time when both Sesshoumaru and Rin had disappeared.

"Maybe that moron Jaken knows what happened," Inuyasha suggested. "Is he still alive?"

Kagome shrugged.

"Who's Jaken?" Sesshou asked. To everyone's surprise, Rin was the one to answer.

"Jaken was Sesshoumaru's underling. He was a toad demon, I think."

"You know that? Maybe being in the Feudal Era is sparking your memory. Perhaps you really are the real Rin," Kagome remarked.

"I noticed that too," she affirmed. Rin yawned and her eyelids drooped. Sesshou tugged her with a small smile.

"I guess you're worn out. I don't blame you," he said. Rin hummed a little in agreement and rested her head against Sesshou's shoulder. Only seconds later she was in a deep sleep.

"How sweet," Kagome cooed. "She must be really tired. Let's put her back on the mat. We'll sort things out in the morning."

Sesshou nodded, tucked Rin into the mat and kissed her forehead. The sun was almost completely below the horizon. The entire land was bathed in the orange light. The sun's sister moon was hanging in the sky, waiting for her turn to shine. Sesshou sat out on the steps of the cottage kicking at a stray rock. Kagome was asleep with Rin in the cottage, and Inuyasha was just coming back from sending a message to Sango and Miroku, who were getting married soon with a Buddhist wedding. Lucky for Inuyasha that a merchant passing by here was heading the same direction as Sango and Miroku's temporary village while they repaired the exterminator village. Sango probably wouldn't be alive without Miroku. Ever since her little brother Kohaku died when they finally defeated Naraku and destroyed the Shikon Jewel, Sango was really depressed and close to taking her own life. Miroku's love saved her.

Sesshou looked up at the dog-eared half demon. He was told that the original Sesshoumaru hated Inuyasha. Sesshou only felt an explained twinge of despise toward him, otherwise he saw nothing wrong. He even smiled slightly when Inuyasha approached, and in turn Inuyasha sat next to him on the stairs.

"Hello," he greeted simply. They sat quietly for a minute admiring the sunset. Inuyasha was the one to break the silence.

"You know, besides a few basic characteristics here and there you don't really act like this era's Sesshoumaru."

"Is that a compliment?" Sesshou raised a brow. The half demon chuckled.

"I'd say so. The Sesshoumaru I knew had a heart of ice. He never laughed, absolutely NEVER cried, very direct when he spoke, and if anything ever got in his way he'd just destroy it. And like I mentioned earlier, he was furiously proud."

"I see," Sesshou dug his toe in the ground. "Sounds somewhat like me except toned down a bit. I don't cry, but I laugh every now and then. The few friends I've ever had called me the 'Ice Prince'."

"You're the reincarnation of Sesshoumaru, no doubts," Inuyasha smirked.
