Back at Inuyasha's hut, the brunt demon was gone. In it's place were a set of long deep indentations on the ground (the Wound of the Wind a.k.a Wind Scar markings). Inuyasha stood at the foot of them looking rather satisfied with himself. He sheathed his sword just as Sesshou returned, clearly melancholy.
"I…I couldn't get Rin in time," he choked. "The demon disappeared with her. Its scent is gone too. I failed her."
"Don't give up so easily. I know that the original Sesshoumaru wouldn't," Inuyasha said. "Besides, there's more than one way to catch a demon."
Just then, a girl stumbled out from the hut, yawning. Inuyasha naturally presumed it was his wife Kagome.
"Wow, you're one heavy sleeper, Kago--" Inuyasha whiffed the air and was startled when the scent of the girl walking out from the hut was not Kagome. "Huh?"
The girl rubbed her eyes then raised her head. Inuyasha gasped as he got a good look at her face. The woman was Rin; who they had thought was the one who had been abducted.
"Hey boys," she yawned. "Have you seen Kagome? She wasn't in the hut."
"Rin! I can't believe it," Sesshou hurried over and kissed her deeply. She pulled away, baffled.
"Why wouldn't I be here?" she pondered with a tilt of her head. Inuyasha's eyes grew wide and he looked out into the forest. How couldn't he have realized that it was Kagome they were taking? His chest grew heavy and he furrowed his brow.
"How could've I been so stupid?!" Inuyasha made a fist. "We had mistaken you, Rin, for Kagome when those demons lugged one of you out of the hut!"
"What?! Kagome been taken? Where?" Rin asked startled.
"We don't know," Sesshou sighed. "So, Inuyasha. How are we going to find her?"
"Since Kagome had some miko power in her, Kaede should be able to pin point her location," he stomped off into the village. "Follow me."

-Jarogajin's Palace-
Lady Jarogajin waited anxiously at the balcony of her castle. She searched for any sign of the demons she had sent to retrieve the human girl. Over the horizon, came the silhouette of one of her smaller demons. In his clutches was what looked like the young girl she desired. Jarogajin squealed with joy and hurried down to the entrance gate.
"Wonderful!" she cheered. "Bring her here, my dear servant."
The creature hurried to its Mistress's side and laid out the unconscious woman in front of her. Jarogajin gleefully pulled back the blanket over her face, expecting to the see Rin. Instead, it was another woman whom she did not know. Her glee turned to frustration.
"What is this?!" Jarogajin stood up, her hands clenched in fists, and her eyes pitch black. "Incompetent demon! This is not the human I desired!"
She back-slapped her demon so that it sprawled out onto the ground. It bowed low and made whining noises as it trembled.
"This one is so sorry, my Mistress," it hissed. Every 's' was lengthened considerably. "I beg of you! Please, another chance! I shall not fail this time!"
Jarogajin growled, and her black nails grew twice their length and she towered over the pathetic creature.
"Stop your worthless pleas for mercy! I shall not tolerate such failures!" she roared. "Die, worthless slave!"
She impaled its shoulders on her long, onyx claws. It let out its shrill scream before it moaned and died. Jarogajin receded her claws and her eyes became slate gray once more. She stared at her blood stained hand wonderingly. With a sigh she shook her hand so that drops of the blood splattered on the body.
"My, my, blood is so hard to wash out. Oh well," Jarogajin sighed. She looked back down at the unfamiliar girl her demon had delivered. She held the human's chin between her thumb and index finger. Humming to herself, she turned the girl's face left and right, examining her.
"I guess she is rather lovely," Jarogajin admitted. "But she doesn't have the innocent beauty of the other young girl I desire."
Jarogajin straightened up and gazed at the woman lying on the cobble stones of her walkway.
"What to do with you? I prefer younger humans for my Djinn so I will not send you to them. Hmm."
Jarogajin summoned a burly servant to her side.
"Would you kindly put this human in a cage or something. Perhaps she can work in the kitchen as a dish washer or something. I don't care. I'll figure it out later."
While the servant carried off Kagome to the dungeons, Jarogajin strolled back into her castle. She entered her Study where 'Sesshoumaru' was reclining. The room was large with an unholy black fire burning on the white stone fire place. Elegant benches lined the room with many cushions in the center of the room. Sesshoumaru's body was seated in the center, his empty face staring at the black fire. The fire's light didn't even reflect in his eyes.
"Hello, my love," Jarogajin greeted. She sat next to him and draped her arms around his neck and glanced at the fire as well.
"The moronic demons I sent brought me the wrong human. Can you believe it? Those fools."
Lady Jarogajin nuzzled his face in her husband's chest (A/N: If it's not already implied, he's not wearing his armor).
"Come with me to my reflecting pool. We shall search for the young girl together," she incited. Guided only by Jarogajin's subtle commands and subconscious, Sesshoumaru's vacant shell rose from the cushions and took Jarogajin's ghost white hand. They walked down the corridors into the room which contained Lady Jarogajin's omnipresent reflecting pool.
She touched the water with her fingers delicately. The liquid swirled and showed Jarogajin what she wanted to see. In the water was Rin riding on the back of a man who's face was out of the picture. Jarogajin willed the picture to zoom out so that she could see those who were accompanying her.
"Good gracious! Look there, my Lord," Jarogajin was pointing to Sesshou. "That man--he is amazingly similar to you. He has the same marks, the same hair color, build, complexion, et cetera. Remarkable."
She than directed her gaze to a very peeved Inuyasha running along side them.
"And that demon. He somewhat resembles you as well. Huh, strange. Yet it is that girl who I seek. See there, Sesshoumaru? Remember her? That is the young girl who used to travel with you. I believe she gave her heart to you. Of course, she did not love you as much as I do."
She looked up at him lovingly for a moment. He did not return the affectionate gaze.
"Hmm. It appears that they are actually heading straight for us. Well, that saves us much trouble. The other two men would probably make suitable man servants. Fortunate for us, correct, my love?"
The Lord of the Western Land gawked at the reflecting pool with his vacant eyes. Although Jarogajin had obtained a prodigious amount of his soul, there were a few remnants of Sesshoumaru's spirit left in his body. Looking down upon the face of Rin triggered a small reaction inside of him. He knew this girl well. At one time, he cared for the girl. He wanted to much to touch her, be with her. He fought for control over the body that was once his. But Jarogajin's spell was too strong and she had too much of his soul. Despite his longing to embrace Rin, Sesshoumaru's body just stood there…staring at the image in the pool.
