Chapter Eight. "Go to Sleep Little Kit"
"Kagome.." Shippou breathed, "I can't..." tears spilled out of his closed eyes.
"I'm here, I'm here Shippou...don't worry." she held his tiny hands, they were growing cold.
"Sh..shippou-chan......wake up...." Kagome's eyes were blurred with tears, "No......don't leave me...." she placed a hand just above his mouth, no air was hitting against her palm. An intense sting with up to her nose, a tears dropped on his face, she wipped them away, "Shippou...I love you..be happy when you are free from this world...with Inu Yasha......tell him.....I'll be there.....someday......wait for me."
Jaken came inside to check up on her, and found that she was crying, like a statue with never ending tears flowing down her face, "...umm.....me lady?" Jaken came closer, then he stopped, although he wasn't a dog youkai, he could still smell poison, leaking from the little kit's body.*What...what is this...it's so strong...the little one his been poisoned! did she?...no! it can't be her! she would never do such a thing..I must tell the lord!* just then Sesshomaru came in when Jaken was about to go out, "Sesshomaru-sama."
"Hm..I could smell the poison running through the little fox's body,"he is..." Sesshomaru walked up to Kagome, then looked at the kitsune, *dead...it's too late....the poison has already taken over his body, his is too young to handle such a strong fluid...Kagome is practically oblivious to everything, she doesn't even realize I'm here...she's hurt...* he frowned, cursing himself inside his head that he let Naraku take away his Tenseiga. So this was his plan, he knew Shippou would die soon so he took away Tenseiga so Sesshomaru couldn't revive him, with would cause more pain and hate for Kagome.
Sesshomaru slowly took Shippou away from her arms, she didn't notice that either, *If she goes on like this she will die from agony..*
"Me lord....what do you wish for me to do?" Jaken asked quietly.
"Prepare a bed for the fox, he will live....soon enough." he narrowed his eyes darkening his voice.
It was time...time to face the most infernal hour. Kagome stood by Sesshomaru's side with Shippou in her arms all the way to the northern lands' battle field, there, they met another demon. He was just as Sesshomaru, if it weren't for their looks then they would've passed as brothers personality-wise.
"And who might that human be..." he said as cold, plain, and emtionless as possible.
"Do not harm her..." Sesshomaru defended.
"I have no intention..." he responded. Sesshomaru explained that he was the lord of he Northeren plains, his lands were also invaded by Naraku in search for his jewel shards. He was tall, didn't look like a Inu youkai, but more like a wolf. deep black hair tied back with little bangs brushed to the side. Masculine figure, a gray side-ways 'U' marked on his right cheek, he had ice blue eyes, making him seem more threatening than Sesshomaru.
"And so it begins..." Sesshomaru whispered.
Kagome looked at the outfield, it was a like a black sea of slow molasses pouring onto the ground. Kagome was too angry to be frightened, all she could think of was Kikyo, she couldn't smell, taste, touch, or hear anything at the moment.
"You." Kagome simply turned to the caller like a possessed china doll, "human...dispose of the kit, the dead do not belong in my land." he demanded.
Kagome stared at him, he stared back.
"That's enough." sesshomaru said with an angry tone in his voice, "let her be...she has gone through enough as it is...."
A servant nearby took the fox carefuly from Kagome's arms, and took him away.
"I used to envy your father and you....what made you turn the other way like him..? you have seen the end of him before correct?" the northen lord said.
Sesshomaru kept glaring at the opposing side, "Hai." was all he said.
The north lord, Oneika, gave up asking him questions, and pointed to the outlands, "Let us charge."
As soon as his hand rose, thousands of demons rushed towards the darkness, Oneika grunted and disappeared at the spot. Sesshomaru watched Kagome, "Kagome...I will be back. Stay here." He took strands of hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear. With his last action, Sesshomaru disappeared as well.
