InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Destiny's Ploy ❯ we meet again ( Chapter 2 )

“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” he cursed himself as he walked back into his apartment.

Inuyasha slammed the door so hard that he thought his place would fall apart. He couldn't help it, he was too mad at himself for being human; for letting his emotions rule over him instead of his brain. Inuyasha closed his eyes and clenched his fists furiously as he tried to calm down, when he snapped them open he found his boss sitting on chair waiting for him. Inuyasha was even angrier at himself now that he had shown his boss a very emotional side of himself.

“So, how much did you get tonight Inuyasha?” he asked, counting slowly a stash of money he was holding.

“There, 25 dollars… I only got 100.” he answered as he threw some bills towards him, his boss sighed and he shook his head.

“Inuyasha, you're loosing your touch… what happened to the man that used to bring me 3000 dollars, not to mention how much money you could have robbed…” he reminded him and Inuyasha went to his fridge to grab a beer.

“Those days are gone Naraku, police is almost on my ass and I'll consider myself lucky to get to steal two girls a night… things are getting though.” Inuyasha sighed before taking a sip from his bottle of beer.

The door opened and a girl with dark hair came in; she sat on Naraku's lap and kissed him lightly. Inuyasha looked at them jealously, that could have been him if only he had played his cards correctly. `I wish time machines existed… it could be me the one with Kikyo, kissing her tender neck softly instead of watching that bastard with her.' he thought as he swallowed his whole beer. He was constantly reminded that she had betrayed him but his heart still belonged to her, she was the reason he was working for that bastard.

“Are we leaving already?” she purred as she nibbled Naraku's ear.

“In a second sweetie, you go wait for me outside… I'm almost done.” she nodded and gave Inuyasha a cold look on her way out.

“You better shape up Inuyasha, you could find another place easily… after all, you are very skilled.” he sighed annoyed.

“I would if our territory wasn't that closed…” Naraku chuckled.

“Nice answer, if you can beat the Band of Seven you can even take care of my territory…”

Inuyasha growled furiously, the Band of Seven was almost as powerful as Naraku's gang. They had a very big turf which was mainly sustained by the drug traffic they had going, cops were easily bribed and any suspicious event going on in their side of the city was easily paid off. Naraku was hungry with power and since he got granted the other side of the city he had been searching for a way to steal theirs. Inuyasha looked at him with despise and Naraku grinned pleased.

“Till then, I suggest you to find another way of stealing or change your place.” Naraku said and got out.

Inuyasha sighed as he heard the door closing; he could have avoided these problems by taking that girl's necklace. Why couldn't he? Why didn't he just take it and sell it for a lot of money? Something inside him make him throw it back to her, was it the girl? `Stupid bitch… and her stupid necklace, why did she had to show up?' he sighed again and cursed himself for being so weak. `She was very pretty though…' he thought and lay on his bed. Things weren't that good for him, no parents and his brother wasn't exactly very nice to him; he was the one who had started a search to bring him behind the bars. Inuyasha wasn't a baby anymore, at 19 he should be studying in college not working in a mechanic and stealing at night but his bad moves during his life had made him pick that lifestyle.

“Stupid girl…” he mumbled, it was impossible for him to stop thinking about her. “Damn… I need to get some rest.”

He turned around to face his wall; his old apartment was falling apart. His wallpaper was falling down, his door was merely sustained by three pieces of wood, his fridge had only a few months of life left now that it no longer could freeze food only refrigerate it, there were no wall except for the ones closing his place and there was a small light bulb on the room to give him some light. Inuyasha closed his eyes and tried to sleep but the only the thought of that girl kept on wandering in his mind.

The morning had been a bit weird for Kagome, Sango woke up asking her why she left her and then started bragging about how cool was the party. They had breakfast as they discussed some of her homework. After Sango left, she immediately got her school bag and started studying. The test she had on Monday was tormenting her and she wanted to do her best during it so that she would get the best grade of her class. Kagome had always had a sick interest in being the best, second place wasn't good enough for her. She pulled out her books and got on her reading glasses before she started with her hard study. Kagome was reading it silently but she couldn't help to think about the silver haired guy who had taken away her money. In an effort to concentrate, she started to read out loud.

“The theory of relativity…” she sighed, realizing it was useless. “I wonder what his name is…”

Kagome shook her head and slapped her cheeks softly a few times, she took a deep breath and focused her sight to her book.

“Concentrate Kagome, you have only two days to learn this by heart…” she reminded herself and started reading again. “The theory of relativity refers to…”

`Why would he give me my necklace back? Any other thief would have just took it and ran away but he… he gave it back without a second thought… could it be that he isn't as…?' she stopped her thoughts and slapped herself like before, Kagome wanted to remember the information in her book for tomorrow but she also felt the need of thinking about him.

“Stop it Kagome… if you don't study you will get an A- and you know how bad that is for your grades.” she reminded herself again and sighed. “The theory of relativity refers to two theories which are…”

“Sweetie! We're home!” her mother yelled and sighed defeated, it was obvious that today she wouldn't be able to study. She quickly closed her book and went downstairs, Kagome greeted her mother with a kiss on the cheek.

“Hi mom, how was your trip?” Kagome asked as she pulled away from her mother's grasp.

“Well, grandpa sold his property and now his coming to live with us… I just hope you don't mind it dear.” Kagome smiled.

“Of course not and where is he? Where's my brother?” Kagome asked as she looked out the window, soon she saw her brother with three boxes on his hands.

“Right there, go help him and grandpa as they bring his belongings.” Her mother said, she nodded and ran to the car.

“Hey grandpa… hey Souta.” she said as she kissed her grandfather's cheek.

“Sis… help… please” she grabbed two of the boxes and rubbed her brother's hair. “I liked it better when you kissed my cheek.”

“How big is your garage Kagome?” her grandfather asked and she thought about it for a second.

“Not that big, why?” she asked curiously.

“I brought some things from the shrine and I want them in a safe and large place.” her grandfather explained.

“In that case I guess we could use our basement, mom says is a waste of space since we only have three boxes down there but we could place them in a corner and the rest is yours.” he smiled gladly.

“Thank you sweetheart, would you mind showing me where it is?” she smiled nodding and showed him the way to the basement.

After a long afternoon of moving things in the house and taking boxes up to what would be her new grandfather's room, Kagome decided to go out with Sango to get into more details. Sango had merely explained to her how great the time she had with all the music was but Kagome was eager to know more. She went out with her friend, mostly Kagome wanted to know how things with Miroku were. On the other hand, Sango wanted to know what happened when Kagome was alone with Kouga. They met at their favorite ice cream parlor and ordered their usual flavors, vanilla and chocolate for each of them.

“Miroku was such a gentleman, we danced like the whole night and I was a little worried when I saw Kouga coming out of his room without you… where were you?” her friend asked worried and Kagome took another spoon of her ice cream.

“Kouga was a little drunk so I just went out and came back home.” she explained and Sango shook her head.

“No, you're hiding something from me… I can feel it, did you meet someone else?” the thought of the man with silver hair crossed her mind but Kagome immediately shook her head disapprovingly.

“Of course not, you know I'm not the kind of girl who just sees a random guy and immediately she gives him her phone number…” Kagome said and her friend rolled her eyes.

“Aren't you tired of it?” Sango asked and Kagome got confused.

“Tired of what?”

“You know, being the good girl… following the rules, studying all night for tests, that kind of stuff. Doesn't it bother you sometimes?” Kagome shook her head.

“Well, yeah… but what am I supposed to do? It's not like I'm gonna change my whole life just because yesterday I went to real party… what's so special about those things, anyways? You dance, get drunk, smoke, the next day you wake up in someone's bed and a few months later you discover that you're your pregnant or that you have AIDS… I don't see the fun in that.” Sango sighed defeated knowing that she wouldn't be able to change her friend's mind, she looked at her watch.

“You should learn how to have more fun Kags, life's short you know? I'm out… I have a date with Miroku.” she kissed her friend's cheek and left, Kagome sighed frustrated.

`There's nothing fun in getting HVI and cancer! Why did Sango start liking that kind of stuff? Just because now that guy is interested in her it doesn't mean she has to be someone different… Miroku likes her, so what? Kouga told me last night that he liked me and I'm not becoming someone new already…' Kagome frowned and let out a small grunt; she rolled her eyes and grabbed a full spoon of her chocolate ice cream. `I'm I the only person that cares about personalities? That thinks that we shouldn't change to make someone else like us?'

Kagome finished her ice cream as she kept thinking about last night, every time she had nothing to think about the thief stole her thoughts and kept her focused about why he returned her the necklace. Kagome took a deep breath and looked towards out the window, her day was becoming darker and she was amazed by how fast time had gone by. She looked at her watch and noticed that it was almost dinner time. Kagome was a bit worried that she still hadn't studied so she hurried back home. Her books would be waiting for her and her test was now just a day away.

Kagome, being the nerd she was, was so worried about her test that she studied all night; the next day she woke up with her head over her notebook and drooling over her book. She wasn't ready to wake up so she decided to get some good sleep on her bed; she closed her eyes and lay on her bed trying to get back to dreamland. The sound of her alarm clock ringing on her ear made her react and lazily opened her eyes. Kagome yawned as the thought of sleeping again hit her mind but a loud crash and the sound of steam made her finally open her eyes widely. She gazed out her window to find her mother's car against the garage with the front part ruined and a large amount of steam coming from the motor. Kagome got on her shoes and ran downstairs to check what had just happened, she could hear her mother yelling at her brother.

“Souta! How could you think about something like this?” her mother asked paranoid as she looked at her car.

“You said you would teach me how to drive today!” he yelled in his defense.

“I told you I have to go to work today! Don't you listen to me?” her mother said angrily as she placed her hands on her hips to emphasize her fury.

“But Mom! You promised that when I had 13 you would teach me! You can't break your promises!” she closed her eyes and breathed in and out a few times.

“Mom, what just happened to our car?” Kagome asked when she was finally outside.

“Your brother was so excited about driving that he… where did you sleep?” her mother asked when she saw some ink on her daughter's face, Kagome blushed embarrassed and cleaned her face.

“I fell asleep as I studied… well, what's with my brother? Weren't you supposed to teach him how to drive?” Kagome reminded her, her mother nodded a sad.

“My boss just called and asked me to finish the new design of our new client… I just have to go. Would you be kind enough to do me a favor?” she asked and Kagome thought about it and shook her head.

“I'm sorry mom, I still have to study.” Her mother smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead proudly.

“Kagome, you work too hard… take the rest of the day and please do this favor for me, I'm begging you.” She sighed and nodded, her mother smiled again.

“Alright, what do you need mom?” her mother walked towards the car and took away the car keys from Souta and gave them to her daughter.

“Yeah! Kagome is gonna teach me how to drive… awesome!” her little brother yelled in excitement and her mother shot him a look.

“You are grounded, young man and you are not learning how to drive this year.” Her mother bowed, Souta stared at her horrified.

“Mom!” he pouted and she raised her hand to hush him.

“I don't want to hear it… now Kagome, please take my car to the mechanic and pay it with this.” she gave her daughter a blank check. “Go to the one down the street and buy something to eat on the way with the money I gave you last night.”

“Oh, well… about that… on Friday, Sango came and we spent the money in pizza and dessert and drinks and… before we knew it, it was gone!” she lied and added a few fake giggles before she gave her mother a fake smile, her mother sighed.

“Alright… here,” she handed her some bills. “ Make sure you come back before midday.”

“Sure mom.” Kagome nodded and got inside the car.

“Bye sweetie!”

She waved at her mom and drove to the mechanic to repair her mother's wrecked car.

“Inuyasha! Are you done with that thing already?” his manager, Myoga asked as he waited for Inuyasha to come out from looking at the brakes of the car.

“No man! Just wait a second would you?” he yelled annoyed and Myoga bent and pulled him out thanks to the wheeled board he used to slide down.

“Inuyasha, the client has been waiting for his car for the last half hour… you could have told him that the car wasn't ready yet.” he hissed and Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

“Tell that fucker to wait or he'll be rolling down the high way without brakes.” he went back in and kept on working.

Myoga went back to the client; Inuyasha was fixing one of the rich kid's cars. He was always fixing rich kid's cars, they came in after a long party with their daddy's expense broken and demanded their new toy to be fixed by the morning. `Damn kids! Thinking they rule the world just because they have a credit card…' he thought furiously as he got out taking a deep breath of clean air and cleaning the oil he had on his hands, he handed the car keys to Myoga who gave them back to it's original owner.

“Sorry to make you wait Kouga, here…” he snatched the keys from him and shot him an angry look.

“It was about damn time, tell your employees that next time I would make my father get their asses fired if the car is not ready and cleaned by the time I'm here.” Myoga gave him a nod.

“Of course, we wouldn't want to get angry the boss' son.” Kouga arched his brow with indifference before scoffing.

“Yeah, yeah… this better be the last time.” he warned, Kouga was about to get inside his car when he saw someone familiar. He half smiled and closed the door as she got out of her car. “Kagome?”

“Hey, Kouga. Sorry about leaving so early last night and sorry about you know…” he nodded and scratched the back of his head as he smiled.

“Well, I really don't remember the whole thing but don't worry… what happened to your car?” Kouga asked curiously as he saw the wreck that had become in the car.

“A little accident…” she smiled and giggled, Kouga chuckled.

“Go over there and talked to that guy under the car, he will fix your car and he'll do it for free.” he said with a smile and she blushed lightly.

“Thanks a lot Kouga but that's really not necessary, I…” he placed his finger on her lips and gave her another of his sweet smiles.

“I insist… consider it a repayment for what I did to you last night.” she nodded trying not to remember his actions and his awful smell.

“Alright… thanks, bye.” he kissed her on the cheek and walked towards management.

Kagome walked right next to the car Kouga had pointed, she stood there and thought about the perfect way to bring him out from down there. She bent and touched his leg lightly, soon she heard a low yell and some curses. Kagome wanted to apologize and leave but soon saw someone coming from down there cleaning his face. She gasped when she saw that silver hair, that extraordinary bizarre yet beautiful color that had been haunting her thoughts.

“Hi, welcome… what can I…?” Inuyasha removed the tissue that he used to clean his face and immediately stopped talking when he realized who just came to his work place, he was speechless.

“Its you.” Kagome whispered with surprise, Inuyasha felt his heart beat faster as a smile curled her lips.
