InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Destiny's Ploy ❯ lying for help ( Chapter 4 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Inuyasha finally arrived to the house Naraku had instructed; it was almost midnight and everything was quiet, just the way he liked it. He pulled out a cigarette and lighted it up while he looked the place; it was a complete mess as trash was decorating the garden. `I thought rich people liked to keep their places cleaned…' he thought with disgust as he walked through the front yard, he tried not to step over the vomit, cigarette rests, pieces of rotten food, beer cans along with more garbage. He threw his cigarette to the ground and stepped on it, knowing that no one will notice if there was another stick on the floor. Inuyasha pulled out his useful penknife to try to open the door, he carefully moved it around the look as he waited for it to click, letting him know that it's open. A voice behind him scared him.

“You should try the back door.” Kagome suggested, he jumped a bit startled and dropped the knife.

“Fuck bitch! Go away and stop bothering me.” Inuyasha said as picked up the knife.

“I'm not letting you rob my best friend's house.” he rolled his eyes and walked over to her, he showed her his knife.

“Listen wench, I can kill you right now and I bet no one will miss you… so just go back to your house and sleep because you're getting on my nerve.” Kagome gulped nervously but remained there without even shaking, she was very scared but she wasn't going to let him continue with that.

“No, I can't let you do that…” Inuyasha moved the knife closer to her throat but she still wasn't moving, Inuyasha let out an annoyed sigh and pulled his knife away.

“You said you would finally leave me alone.” he reminded her as he walked away; Kagome followed him from not far behind.

“I lied; I knew you were planning something… so are you know going back to your house?” she asked and he shook his head.

“I have some business to do so stop bothering me.” Inuyasha pulled out another cigarette.

“Those things kill you…” Kagome said as he lighted it up and threw some of the smoke over to Kagome, she coughed a few times.

“Great, they would do me a favor…” he looked at her and she stared at him curiously.

“Are you trying to kill yourself?”

“Did you suddenly become my personal psychologist?”

“Do you always have to answer with a question?”

“Are you always this annoying?” Kagome sighed, she closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them she noticed Inuyasha was walking away from her once again, she kept on following him. “I thought I was done with you…”

“Listen, you can't keep this going… you should just work on the mechanic, why steal? You don't get anything positive from that.” Kagome explained; Inuyasha could actually feel some concern in her voice; did she really care about him?

“Oh, thank you so much wench! Your words have made me change my mind and now I'm gonna work honestly and I'll never steal again! Thanks!” he said sarcastically and she frowned. “I'm not gonna repeat this, go away and don't bother me.”

“Inuyasha, right?” she called before he left.

“What is it?” he asked as he turned to look at her.

“If you tell me why you need the money… I… will give it to you but don't harm Sango.”

Inuyasha looked at her surprised, he never knew that people as kind as her existed. `What kind of person sacrifices her sake for her friend? Who is this girl and why the heck she is so nice?' he thought annoyed; it bothered him deeply the fact that she didn't even think about it twice. Inuyasha could be a rapist for all she knew and yet she was offering him her help. He had never met someone like her, it made his heart beat softly.

“What do you say?” Kagome woke him from his thoughts, Inuyasha sighed.

“I need the money to pay this guy; I owe him a lot of money… I don't think your 100 dollars will do it.” she giggled.

“Follow me, I'll take you to my house but you have to promise to be quiet and that you won't get near Sango again.” Inuyasha scoffed and nodded. “I'm waiting…”

“Fine, I promise wench.” she smiled pleased and got inside her car.

“You seriously need to repair this junk.” Kagome smiled embarrassed and he laughed at the car. “What the hell happened? You crash to a tree while you were trying to get out of your porch?”

“My little brother was so excited about his first driving lesson that he crashed the car against the garage… now let's go, it's almost midnight and I bet my grandpa hasn't noticed I'm not home yet.” he hopped on the other seat and Kagome drove over to her house.

Kagome drove quietly to her house; Inuyasha stared out the window as he noticed how the houses were becoming more humble. She finally stopped at a white small house, it was nice enough for him though; it reminded him of something but he couldn't clearly see it in his mind, he shook his head as he dispersed those confusing thoughts. Once they were finally there, she opened the door slowly avoiding making any sound. She walked quietly up to her room, followed by Inuyasha. He was marveled with her house, it looked as if it came out from a movie, blue walls with portraits of the family hanging on each one of them surrounding the place, prizes of many contests won by Kagome, paintings of fruit bowls and everything inside smelled like lavender. Finally, when they arrived to her room, Inuyasha was surprised when a different scent from lavender hit his nose. He wasn't sure of what kind of smell it was but the pleasure it sent through his body burned his nose in delight. Inuyasha vaguely saw her walls, after pushing away the intoxicating delicious scent; he was able to recognize that her walls were filled with diplomas and ribbons of awards and contests the girl had won. Inuyasha saw a shelf with very heavy and large books, her desk nicely arranged with three books out and her pink bed perfectly set with small white flowers printed on it.

“Here, I have 5000 saved… I hope this helps you.” he was so shocked he couldn't even talk, she gave him the cash and he blinked a few times before grabbing it.

“Why do you have so much money?” Inuyasha asked curiously as he counted it.

“I win contests all the time, math challenges, essay challenges, typing challenges, running challenges, chemistry challenges, jumping challenges, physics…”

“Okay! I get it, you're very smart…” Inuyasha interrupted. “And apparently athletic.”

She smiled lightly; Inuyasha felt terrible for making this to her, taking advantage of her kindness so he sighed heavily before he divided the money in half. Kagome looked at him confused as he offered the other half to her.

“Take 2500… I don't need that much money, but thanks for your help.” He said truthfully, Kagome smiled proudly.

“Any time and thanks for all this… I mean, you could have just taken the money and left but…” she giggled a little and blushed. “Forget it; I'm glad I helped you… so with this you have paid him?”

“Yeah…” he lied, he didn't want her to know why did he really steal from people and he wanted her to leave him alone… for her own sake.

“And you'll never steal again?” he rolled his eyes.

“Why are you so damn worried about what I do?” he yelled and she placed her hand on his mouth.

“I told you to be quiet… I'm worried because… I just don't want you to get hurt.” he felt his heart twitch and hid the smile that was about to come, Kagome removed her hand from his mouth. “Never mind, I'll take you outside”

They walked in silence downstairs; Kagome stopped and let Inuyasha go on his own. He opened the door and Kagome watched him leave from her staircase. He closed the door lightly behind him and while he was walking away through her front yard he heard the door opening, he turned around and looked at her. Kagome stood there, saying nothing just staring at him. Inuyasha felt the need to break the silence and after taking a deep breath he spoke.

“Take your car over to the mechanic tomorrow, I'll repair it but don't you think I'm gonna do it for free.” she laughed a little and plastered a smile on her face.

“It never crossed my mind… thanks.” he smiled, a smile of happiness after such a long time. Inuyasha was about to wave at her but he just shook his head and walked away.

Kagome woke up lazily the next morning, she shut her alarm clock and immediately went the shower; she tried to keep her eyes open as she let the warm water wash her up. Kagome went back to her room and placed her dark green uniform of Midoriko private high school. Thanks to her big brain, Kagome got a scholarship and had been able to study in there since middle school. She carefully got on her sweater and ruby tie on her neck; every morning she wanted her uniform to look perfect against her light skin. Kagome placed on her green long socks and put on her black shoes before grabbing her back pack. Kagome walked downstairs and sniffed the smell of breakfast, she smiled and walked inside the kitchen.

“Good morning Kagome… did you sleep okay? You look terrible.” her brother said as he drank some of his orange juice, Kagome hushed him and sat next to him.

“He's right sweetie, nightmares?” her mother asked concerned, Kagome nodded and her mother kissed the top of her head as she placed her toasts and eggs in front of her. “I hope they didn't keep you up very long…”

“No mom, thanks for breakfast… um, about the car…”

“Don't worry honey, I will take it to the mechanic today.” Kagome nodded but immediately tried to convince her mother, she munched her breakfast.

“I can do it for you, I know how busy you always are and I feel bad for not being able to do it yesterday and instead going to Sango's house… can you please let me do it for you?” her mother sighed and nodded, Kagome kept on eating pleased.

“If you want honey, you can do it.” she kissed her mother on the cheek, Kagome quickly finished her breakfast and grabbed her bag.

“Thanks again mom, bye I'm off to school…” she kissed her mother's cheek again and rubbed her brother's hair before going out her house.

Inuyasha had a hard night trying to sleep after finding Kagome being so nice to him, it kept him in awe how she can be so kind and not ask something in return. After a few hours, he was finally able to close his eyes and rest. When he woke up, Inuyasha found Kikyo sitting on the edge of his bed. He opened his eyes startled as she laughed and got up to bring him a cup of coffee; she got one for herself and sat next to him. Inuyasha rubbed his eyes a few times, making sure that this wasn't a nightmare. When he was able to think clearly his mind was still wondering why Kagome would give him her money, she worked so hard for it and she gave it away just like that. `She has a golden heart… she's very kind, smart, athletic and beau…'

“Naraku wants the money you stole from that house.” Kikyo interrupted his thoughts; she had already finished her cup of coffee.

Inuyasha got up lazily, throwing aside his blankets; he had never liked to wear pajamas and always slept in his boxers. He had a sun kissed skin along with a perfectly built body that made him even more irresistible for any woman that set sight on him. He searched through his jean pockets and pulled out 1000 dollars, he harshly threw it to Kikyo. She ignored it and gathered it to count it.

“How much did you get?” Kikyo asked once she was done.

“2500… tell him that I give him 1000 to make it up for the other night.” she nodded and placed the money in her purse.

“The Taija family is very rich, how the heck could you only get 2500 dollars? You're hiding something…” Kikyo assumed and Inuyasha sighed.

“A few guards were out the house that night, I couldn't risk myself for that money so I just stole from every person I found on my way…” she grinned.

“You got your touch back… I'm amazed.” she said and kissed him along the jaw.

“I never lost it… I was just having bad luck.” Inuyasha explained as he let her kisses consume him.

As Kikyo kissed him with the same fake passion she used on him, Inuyasha slightly moved his hand under her shirt, reaching for her breast but just before he could touch it Kikyo pushed him aside and arranged her shirt before getting up from his bed.

“Great, I'll let Naraku know… I guess you will keep going with your normal business, bye Inuyasha.” he sighed as she left his apartment.

He immediately got up and stretched, he got inside the shower and washed himself with cold water, he got out of there immediately without caring how his body seemed to be shivering. Inuyasha was late for his job but he never minded it, Myoga would always forgive him. Something inside Myoga had him protecting over Inuyasha, even if they were strangers that worked together. Inuyasha was very grateful for the old man's concern but he would never let him know. He got dressed immediately and left his apartment as he remembered the look on Kagome's face when he returned her some of her money. `She was very beautiful…' he let a smile slip his lips and slammed his door on his way out.

“Now, please let's put this on practice… Miss Higurashi, could you please solve the problem?” she immediately nodded and got up to solve the math problem.

Kagome did it quickly, she always had the stupid idea that she was in one of her contests and tried to do it as soon as possible. She gave the marker to her teacher as she clapped delighted with her great job.

“Wonderful Kagome, like always… there's a new math challenge coming, you should go for it.” she smiled proudly.

“Yeah, I will think about it.” she got on her glasses and started copying what she had done in her notebook.

“Okay, so what Kagome did was…” the rest of the sentence was lost in Kagome's ears as she was driven back to her thoughts.

`Inuyasha… he has such a weird name, I've never heard one like that before… he had such beautiful eyes but why is he doing that kind of stuff? I wonder what is going in his life to make him steal from other people… he's not bad, I know it… he has prove it to me twice, he didn't take my necklace and even gave me back some of the money I offered him… maybe someone forces him or maybe he does this for a living, but then why would he work at the mechanic? Inuyasha might…' her thoughts were interrupted by a pat on her shoulder by the person sitting behind her; she turned around to face her.

“Kouga sends you this.” A red haired girl said, Kagome grabbed the note she was holding and turned around to read it.

Wanna go to the movies with me tonight? Yes/No

She smiled at the sweetness of the man and sighed. She didn't know what to do, he would try to kiss her again and that was something she didn't want. There was a part of her that wanted her to be with him, it was not everyday that she got invited by the most popular and hottest guy in her school out. She was about to circle yes when the bell rang, Kagome sighed and placed the note in her back pack; she was going to answer him later. The bright side of that day was that school was finally over.

“Hey Kags!” Sango called as she walked next to her friend. “I heard Kouga asked you out.”

“Yeah, I'm not sure about it…” Kagome saw a guy coming, she immediately recognized him as the guy from the party.

“San… I've been looking for you, c'mon there are some people I want you to meet.” he said and tried to pull her away with him but she stood there firmly.

“Wait, Miroku this is my best friend Kagome. Kags this is Miroku my… boyfriend.” Sango smiled and he placed a short kiss on her lips.

“Nice to meet you.” Kagome said as she shook his hand, he smiled lightly.

“The same, let's go San…” he insisted as he pulled her away.

“Alright, bye Kagome see you tomorrow.” she kissed her cheek and left as Miroku looked at Kagome with that same light smile from before.

“Weird…” Kagome mumbled as she walked towards her locker.

She opened it lazily and placed in her books, unlike other girls that had pictures, magazines cut offs and makeup, Kagome only had her books along with one big jacket for the rainy cold days. While she placed her books in, she saw a white rose moving inside, Kagome smiled and blushed lightly. She closed her locker and found Kouga with the flower on his hand. He had his white shirt improperly suited, according to the rules of the school, and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

“So, what do you say? I'm still waiting for your answer.” Kagome smiled nervously.

“Well, you should had told me that with a notice since my mother doesn't let me go out with anyone just like that… she wants me to tell her like a day before.” she lied and he nodded.

“Then, how about this Saturday? You can give her a 6 day notice.” Kagome giggled dryly.

“I'll think about it…” he placed the white rose on her ear and pulled out a strand of her hair, he kissed her forehead.

“And I'll be waiting…” Kouga kissed her again, this time on her cheek. Kagome sighed relieved once he left.

While all the other students have left the building hurriedly, Kagome was walking calmly to the outside. She liked to stay till the end, she thought she had more time to arrange her books and look for her notebooks. She grabbed her big yellow bag and walked outside, she looked at her watch and remembered about Inuyasha's words last night; she rushed to her house to grab the car to get it to the mechanic. During her whole day her mind had been thinking about Inuyasha and thought that maybe if she got to see him, her mind would get rid of him. She left her bag at the kitchen and grabbed the keys of her mother's car. `I hope I helped him, after all, from what he told me the reason he was stealing was to pay this guy… whoever he is, he doesn't know in what kind of troubles he can get Inuyasha into…' she sighed and parked inside the mechanic.

“Inuyasha,” Kagome called, she soon spotted his beautiful silver hair under a car. She smiled and walked towards it. “Inuyasha…”

“What?” he asked infuriated, Kagome pulled him out and he rolled his eyes.

“I'm here already… remember what you told me last night?” Kagome asked, Inuyasha nodded and went back under the car.

“Fine, in 6 minutes… this client has been busy bothering me about his fucking car.” she nodded comprehensively.

Kagome smiled at him pleased and waited for him to finish with the car, she walked inside the office. She was sitting since she hated to wait standing up. A few minutes later, she heard the window tapped and looked at him calling her, she walked out. They walked together towards her car; at the sight of it, Inuyasha started laughing.

“Is it that difficult to stop laughing at my car?” she asked and he chuckled before his laugh dried.

“Every time I see your car, I picture you crashing against a tree.” Kagome sighed annoyed.

“It was my brother's fault and he crashed against the garage!” she said in her defense and he scoffed.

“Whatever… you know this will take some time.” Inuyasha said as he looked at the big wreck it had, Kagome nodded.

“I'm not dumb… how long is this going to take?” he looked at it and touched lightly the wrecked parts of the car.

“About… 2 weeks.” Inuyasha decided and Kagome smiled.

“Great, thanks a lot…” she moved closer to him and gave him a soft peck on the cheek. “I really appreciate it.”

Inuyasha watched her leave as he kept feeling the warm heat of her lips against his soft skin. Unlike Kikyo's fake kisses, the touch of her lips against his skin made his heart twitch, reminding him that he was still alive on the inside. He touched the place where her lips have been a few seconds earlier and smiled softly before going back to his work.

After she left the mechanic, Kagome got a phone call from Sango who wanted her to meet her at a bar. Kagome got concerned, what the hell was her best friend doing at a bar and how the heck did she get in? She thought she should save her questions for when she saw her. Kagome walked over there with some rush; she wasn't thinking about going in, she was going there to take her best friend out of that prohibit place. Kagome was very determinate to get Sango out of there but when she spotted him with her new boyfriend, Kouga and another girl, her bravery vanished. Kagome took a deep breath and walked towards her friend who smiled at her excitedly.

“Kags! You came! Take your shirt off, you have another one under it… right?” Sango asked and she hurriedly took Kagome's school T-shirt off. “Here's your ID now let's go in.” Sango handed her a fake driver's license that had a fake name.

“Sango…” Kagome tried to stop her but she was with on step inside the place, she sighed heavily as she felt an arm around her hip.

“Let's go babe,” Kouga half smiled, Kagome sighed as she let him drag him inside the place.

Kagome entered to a bar for the first time in her life, she saw a few jazz musicians at the bottom of it, playing their rhythm music on top of a small stage. The bartender was serving drinks and big breasty waitress serving them to the soon drunk to be people in the place. Kagome noticed Sango's famous boyfriend sitting there along with the red haired girl that had given her Kouga's invitation for a date earlier. Sango kissed Miroku and the red haired girl gave Kouga a big hug.

“C'mon Kags, don't be shy.” Sango said and pulled her to the table. “This is Ayame…”

“Hi, a pleasure to meet you…” Kagome said stretching her hand but the girl ignored it and pulled her in a hug before kissing her noisily in the cheek.

“No need to be formal, you're acting like if you were 40…” everyone laughed and Kagome faked a smile.

“Right, sorry.” Sango and Miroku were too busy enjoying their kisses while Ayame talked to Kouga about careless matters, one of the waitresses came over.

“Hey there, what would you like?” she asked with a high pitched voice and as she chewed her bubble gum.

“Vodka tonic.” Miroku said.

“A Cosmo…” Sango answered and Ayame gasped.

“Oh! I was about to ask for the same!” Ayame squealed and Sango giggled.

“Bring me a scotch on the rocks.” Kouga said and the waitress gave him a flirtatious smile and nodded.

“And for you hun?” the girl asked to Kagome and she gave her an uncomfortable smile.

“Um… a glass of water please.” she nodded and left.

“A glass of water? Kags, you have the chance to drink alcohol and you ask water? What's wrong with you?” Sango asked and Kagome felt horrible.

`No, what's wrong with you?' Kagome wanted to shout but she kept it to herself. `I would like to remind you that a week before you didn't even know what a freaking Cosmo was!' she wanted to yell and let out all her anger but decided it was better for her to ignore Sango's comments. A few minutes later, their liquor came and they drank it calmly as they talked and laughed about stupid stuff. Kagome felt so out of place, realizing her best friend wasn't being herself anymore. `Where's the Sango with whom I used to talk to the phone about math problems and the hot guys? Now the only thing we'll be talking about will be about the fun party she had last night and how drunk she got… I hate this replacement of my friend.' Kagome sighed, she didn't want to loose the only and true friend she ever had.

“I need to go to the bathroom…” Sango announced and immediately Ayame stood up too.

“Me too.” she said and the two left.

“I'll be right back, I'm gonna pay for the drinks.” Kouga said and Kagome was left with Miroku, he sat closer to her.

“You know, you are very beautiful…” she smiled nervously.

“Thanks… I guess you shouldn't be telling me that considering I'm your girlfriend's best friend.” she laughed dryly, Miroku did his best to show her a seductive smile.

“Sango? She wouldn't mind me giving a compliment to you… and she wouldn't mind a date between us either… what do you say, pretty?” he asked and she felt his hand going under her uniform skirt.

Kagome didn't even bother answering, since she knew that slap would make him understand her thoughts. She hurriedly walked out of the place to find out that it had started raining. Kagome wasn't worried about the rain but about her friend, what kind of guy was she dating? She ran away, hoping that by the time they went out they wouldn't bother to look for her. Kagome felt agitated so she decided to walk home, she wanted the rain to wash everything that had happened to her lately. Mean comments, horrible experiences and hurtful thoughts, she wished everything to go away with the rain. Kagome walked through the streets calmly, trying to clear what had happened between her and Miroku. `Should I tell Sango? No… judging on the way she has been acting lately she probably won't believe me… besides, how could I tell her something like that? Your boyfriend likes me… I just can't do that… I can't take away what apparently makes her very happy.' Kagome sighed, taking a turn on a dark alley hoping the rain stopped soon. She heard some noises coming from it.

“HELP!!!” she heard a loud shriek coming from a girl, she felt something bumping against her.

Although the day was ending and it was almost night time, she could clearly see his striking features under rain. A lightning struck and his golden eyes brightened, his silver hair appeared to be white and his face with regret and deception was still there looking at her terrified. He wanted her to call the police, to hit him, to yell at since the rotten silence she was keeping was killing him slowly.

“Inuyasha…” Kagome finally whispered.

Inuyasha stared at her for a few seconds, now that the silence was finally broken his chest felt heavy; Kagome felt betrayed and very disappointed as her eyes scanned the floor next to them. It was then when she noticed cash all over the place, Kagome felt the rain falling on her harder and lighting struck again. Inuyasha gulped and with one last look, he bent to take the money; running away from her and from the look of deception she had plastered on her eyes. Kagome gazed at him as he escaped; she then heard some sobs and looked at the woman on the corner of the alley.

“Help me… I just got robbed…” the woman cried helplessly, Kagome stood up and started crying as well.

She had been fooled.
