Kagome felt her heart fill with joy as she woke up the next morning; she knew he wasn't joking when he mentioned being part of gang, such a dangerous organization as that wasn't a matter of fun. Her cheeks flushed when she remembered his attempt of a kiss that had being interrupted by her mother, Kagome smiled blissful. `Don't flatter yourself… what if he was thinking about something else? Like arranging your hair or… taking out an eyelash from my cheek… but the thought of his lips on top of mine is delightful.' she thought as she let a dreamily sigh slip her lips. Kagome brushed her hair as she looking intensively at her reflection in the mirror; she liked how good her hair appeared to be today and smiled wider when she realized that she would go to pick up the car, meaning that she would see Inuyasha again.
“Kagome! Hurry! I need to use the bathroom!” her brother yelled, Kagome shook her head as she snapped out of her thoughts.
“Coming!” she replied as she brushed her hair one last time.
As soon as Kagome was out of there Souta ran in and slammed the door. Kagome stared at the door confused but soon walked towards her room to search for something to wear. She decided it would be better for pick her clothes for tonight and wear them already; Kagome didn't want to come back home and change just because at night she had a date with Kouga. She pulled out a strapless turquoise shirt from her drawer along with Capri jeans; she placed her long beaded black necklace and her father's necklace before she put on black earrings. Kagome got on her shoes before running downstairs and jumping the last two staircases, she went towards the kitchen and her happiness glowing was caught by everyone inside the room.
“Good morning darling… a wonderful day, isn't it?” her grandfather asked as he read the newspaper.
“Yeah, it is a great day.” she smiled pleased and heard the phone ring, she picked it up. “Hello? Higurashi residence.”
“You're going out with Kouga?” she heard her best friend ask loudly and she sighed. “Why didn't you say something?”
“It's not a big deal… he just asked me out and you've been too busy with Miroku.” she said, Kagome didn't dare to tell Sango what happened at the bar; she was too embarrassed that her friend would pick him over her.
“Right… sorry about that, well… Ayame is gonna freak out when she hears this!” Sango squealed. “Alright, so you're going out with him tonight… right? What are you going to wear?”
“Um… tonight, I'm gonna wear jeans and…”
“Don't tell me you plan to dress as usual for a date with the hottest guy of the hottest, are you?” Sango interrupted and Kagome shrugged her shoulders.
“I thought I…”
“No, I would not let you do that! I'm going to your house before your date and help you pick out the perfect outfit… be there at 6!” she hung up and Kagome giggled, her friend was acting like the same crazy her she used to be and that made her happy.
Kagome grabbed a Gatorade from the fridge and drank it cheerfully as she saw her mother coming in the kitchen, she kissed her grandfather and walked towards her daughter to hug her tightly for a few seconds.
“You woke up early today…” her mother noticed.
“I got some stuff to do… what time is it?” Kagome asked and her mother looked at her watch.
“It's almost 10.” Her mother answered as she placed the remains of her Gatorade back to the fridge.
“I better get going, I'm going to the library and then I'll pick up your car.” she explained as she grabbed her keys and her mother's car keys.
“And I was beginning to think that this day will never come.” she giggled and Kagome kissed her cheek.
“I'll be back after lunch… bye mom, bye grandpa.” Kagome waved at them as she walked out the house from the kitchen door.

Inuyasha was trying to remember the events that occurred last night, taking her out for dinner, talking to her, walking her home, letting her know secrets he thought he would never tell anybody. `What's in her that made me trust in her? I think it's the fact that she's very honest with me and that she wanted to help me… I feel very safe around her but that isn't an excuse to forgive my behavior last night. I was about to kiss her, what the fuck was I thinking?' he asked himself loudly inside his head, he cleaned his tools with an old dirty red bandana as he tried to figure out why was he going to ruin her life by letting himself kiss her.
“Inuyasha, are you okay?” Bankotsu, his coworker, asked.
Inuyasha had spent some after work time with him; they were what everybody would call friends. Although Bankotsu had met Kikyo, Naraku and many other people that were part of Inuyasha's world; he had no idea what kind of stuff Inuyasha was into but he had an idea of what he did after night. Inuyasha, however, didn't know anything about Bankotsu's life except that he worked at the mechanic and that just like Inuyasha; his parents had giving up hope on him and threw him to the streets. He decided it was better that way, if he got too involved with him Bankotsu might get in troubles and Inuyasha didn't want to drag anyone else in the hell hole he called his life.
“Fine, I'm fine.” He snapped, harshly rubbing the bandana against the metallic instrument.
“Really? `Cause this is the third time you clean the same implement.” Inuyasha shook his head and dropped it in the tool's box as Bankotsu chuckled. “I see you're really distracted this morning…”
“It's nothing… I just wasn't able to sleep last night.” he lied and passed a hand through his rough shinny hair.
“Inuyasha!” he turned around to see Kagome coming in, he smiled lightly and felt Bankotsu elbowing him.
“New girlfriend? It's a pretty girl.” he complimented.
“Relax pedophile… she's still in high school, she came to pick up her mother's car.” Inuyasha explained bitterly and Bankotsu nodded.
“Still, she's very pretty.” he mumbled as he patted Inuyasha's back, he winked at him and left when Kagome was approaching Inuyasha.
“Hey, I didn't interrupt anything… did I?” she asked and he shook his head, he looked at his watch.
“What are you doing here so late? I'm done with my shift and it's time for me to lunch.” Inuyasha said as he took out his uniform, Kagome looked at him puzzled.
“It's time for lunch already?” she looked at her watch and it was 1:30, she had spent her whole morning at the library.
“Yeah and I'm leaving,” Inuyasha threw his uniform against his tool box and walked away; Kagome sighed and followed him as usual.
“Can't you just hand it to me? It wouldn't take you more than 5 minutes and I really need it.” Kagome begged and stopped once he noticed he had as well, Inuyasha turned to look at her.
“Hm, let's see… should I go eat or should I let you get your car? I think I follow my instincts and go eat.” she sighed annoyed, Inuyasha was walking away and Kagome immediately grabbed him by the arm.
“Alright, where are we eating?” she asked and he arched his eyebrow as he tried to rewind those words on his mind.
“Excuse me, did you just say `we'?” she nodded, letting his arm go and Inuyasha chuckled amused. “Why would I want to eat with you?”
“Because if not, I'm going to follow you wherever you're going and bother you… so it's either that or having a nice lunch with me… and because we are now friends.” Kagome smiled and he rolled his eyes.
“Fine but I'm not gonna pay what you eat… and I'm don't consider you my friend.” Inuyasha said sourly, Kagome giggled which caused him to look at her irritated.
“I have money too and… I consider you my friend whether you like it or not.” he gave her a cold stare and she smiled lightly. “So where are we going?”

Inuyasha unconsciously pulled out a cigarette as he looked at the menu; he immediately lighted it and took a deep sip before letting the smoke come out of his mouth. Kagome coughed softly as she tried to push away the horrible scent his cigar was producing. After a few minutes of coughing due to the uncomfortable air, she took the cigarette out of his mouth and turned it off by pressing it against the table. Inuyasha looked at her shocked and Kagome coughed one last time.
“Why did you do that for?” he asked as he pulled out another one; Kagome quickly grabbed it and crushed it before he could even light it.
“I hate smokers,” she admitted and cleared her throat; Inuyasha rolled his eyes and tapped his fingers against the table. “Do I make you nervous?”
“Why?” he asked and Kagome grabbed his hand, stopping the tapping sound he was making with it.
“I hate tapping sounds.” she answered and he grunted with irritation.
“Isn't there something that you don't hate?” Inuyasha asked, Kagome started thinking for a few second and nodded.
“I like most of things I find but I hate everything when it comes to nervous tics… like biting nails or smoking or tapping or…”
“I get it! Miss perfect can't stand any sudden occurrence…” He interrupted and Kagome rolled her eyes at her nickname, Inuyasha half smiled. “You're easily annoyed, you know that?”
“Maybe it's true but at least I don't have to worry about cancer,” he sighed annoyed and nodded, thinking that it would finally shut her up but he was wrong. “What do you like to do in your free time?”
“Why do you wanna know?” he snapped angrily, Kagome shrugged her shoulders.
They stopped their conversation for a few minutes to ask the waiter for their meals. Once they were done, Kagome repeated her question and Inuyasha did the same. She thought about it for a few seconds until she shrugged her shoulders again and looked into his bright golden eyes.
“I'm curious, you know I like to be nosy… you should know by now.” Inuyasha nodded in agreement. “So, what do you like to do?”
“I don't really have free time… I bet that you with high school and since you're Miss perfect might have lots of hobbies, you might even be a cheerleader.” she giggled as she shook her head.
“No, I'm athletic… I admit it but no, I don't like popular sports or maybe just team sports… I also love to cook, read and I listen to music sporadically.” Inuyasha stared at her confused.
“Is that why you aren't a cheerleader?” Kagome arched her brow, letting smile show up.
“What's with the interrogation? Are you trying to know me better?” Inuyasha snorted, turning his sight away from her hoping she didn't notice how he blushed.
“Don't flatter yourself. I thought that if you could know stuff about me, you could tell me something about yourself… it's supposed to be fair this way.” Kagome thought about it for a moment before nodding understandably.
“Well, cheerleading isn't exactly what I would do because it takes too much of my time… I like doing my homework, going to the practices would be too much for me and wouldn't leave me free time to read.” she sighed and he grabbed her hand, he studied it carefully. “What are you doing?”
“I just wanted to check your nails…” he looked at her fingers closely.
“Why?” Kagome asked confused by his actions.
“Because you seem like a person who gets stressed really easily and to release your stress you might like to bite your nails unconsciously.” Inuyasha turn his eyes at her and smiled, she hid the smile coming from her lips and gazed out the window.
“It's a beautiful day…” Kagome whispered, feeling how he let go her hand. Inuyasha stared at the same direction realizing how clear and bright the day was. “I love shinny days like these ones, they make me think that life is perfect just the way it is.”
“Perfect… yeah, right…” he mumbled and she let out a heavy sigh.
Like the day before, they managed to eat without crossing a word. Kagome kept her eyes gazing outside, she smiled at the sight of such a wonderful day while Inuyasha had his eyes busy gazing at the girl in front of him; Kagome wasn't aware that he was watching her which calmed him. `She has such pretty eyes and a smile to die for… I'm such a hypocrite, an hour ago I was calling Bankotsu pedophile for checking her out and I'm doing the same thing. But I can't stop looking at her; I can't stop myself from going out with her, I can't even stop thinking about her… meeting her will drive me crazy.' he thought, Kagome turned to look at him and his eyes immediately left her sight; she smiled.
“Do you want to go with me later to the library?” he arched his brow.
“Library? What for?” Inuyasha asked as he finished his drink.
“I need to pick up three books and then I'll pick up the car from the mechanic… besides, I thought that maybe you wanted to get away from that place for a while so helping me would be a good excuse.” Kagome suggested as he rolled his eyes.
“Whatever,” Inuyasha mumbled.
After they paid for their meals, Kagome and Inuyasha walked calmly downtown; they walked past his dark alley in which he got Naraku's money. The thought of his mean actions made him sigh melancholically. Kagome noticed the way his mood was affected and grabbed his hand tightly; Inuyasha blushed as he felt her warm hand envelop his. Once his shame went away, he turned to look at her and she smiled stopping.
“We are already here, let's go in.” Kagome said and pulled him with her inside the building.
“Well, hello Kagome…” an old lady with big glasses whispered to her.
“Hi Ukyo, I'm looking for some light reading and the three books I ordered last week.” she nodded and walked away, Inuyasha pulled out a cigarette and light it up, Kagome shrieked.
“What are you doing? This is a public building! You can get arrested for this!” she hissed and taking off his cigarette and pressing it against the back of her shoe.
“There's always a second time…” he mumbled and placed his lighter back to his pant's pocket, Kagome looked him terrified.
“You have been in jail?” she asked in a frightened tone, he simply nodded. “Why?”
“None of your business,” he replied once he saw the old lady coming towards them with three big books.
“Here they are, The Odyssey, The Da Vinci code and Memories of a Geisha.” she said and Kagome squealed of joy, taking the books from Ukyo's hands.
“Oh, thank you so much Ukyo!” she pulled out her member ship card and the lady typed a few letters on the computer before giving Kagome back her card, she smiled as she walked out followed by Inuyasha.
“Did you know that perhaps there are movies of all the books you just rented?” Kagome rolled her eyes before nodding.
“Books are better than movies and TV, books will get me to college and TV will get me nowhere… besides, there are some very important things that aren't in the movies so I rather read it.” Inuyasha shrugged his shoulders.
Inuyasha and Kagome walked back to the mechanic, she stopped every 5 steps to position her books before they fell. At the third time; Inuyasha, who was tired of this, walked towards her and snatched her books. She smiled pleased and sighed, she looked at the beautiful sight she had in front of her.
“I love daylight.” Kagome mumbled unconsciously, Inuyasha arched his brow before snorting.
“Night's better…” he replied, Kagome stopped walking which made him react the same way.
“How can you enjoy night time? It's better for the day to be clear because it can't hide anything at all…” Kagome explained, Inuyasha half smiled walking towards her.
“But is mystery what keeps us intrigued and entertains us, darkness is unpredictable which becomes fun.” He said, he walked away and she followed him like always. “I see why you like day, it's `cause it's boring.”
“For your information, I enjoy daylight because it let you do fun activities… sports, reading, painting, gardening.” Inuyasha sighed.
“You know wench…”
“My name is Kagome.” she interrupted and he rolled his eyes.
“Whatever, you know? Not everything can be like you plan it, you have to be prepared for the unpredictable” Inuyasha said, handing her back her books and walking away; Kagome followed him as she balanced her books.
“I'm aware of that but…” she crashed against him, making her drop her books. Kagome curiously looked in front of him to reveal a girl waiting for them.
“Leave,” Inuyasha whispered and she shook her head. “Just leave Kagome, this doesn't concern you…”
“Don't worry, your girl can come with us.” she said with a slight jealousy on her tone.
“Kikyo, she's not my…”
“Hi, I'm Kagome and I'm not his girl… I'm his friend” she interrupted, Kagome stretched her hand in front of her; the girl stared at her hand and scoffed before turning back to Inuyasha.
“Naraku can't wait,” she reminded him, Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
“I'll visit him later…” he said, doing his best to hide the anger coming from his voice. Kikyo shook her head.
“No, he wants you at his layer now.” Inuyasha sighed, Kikyo turned to look at Kagome. “If she doesn't interrupt she can come.”
“Actually she…”
“I'd love to,” Kagome interrupted, looking at Inuyasha who had his eyes shut tightly trying to suppress the irritation that the situation caused him.
“Great, let's go Inuyasha… they came to pick us up.” Kikyo said and at that exact same moment a black car parked in front of them.
Inuyasha let Kagome get inside first, he hopped inside the car right after she was sitting; Kikyo grinned as she opened the passenger's door and sat in the front. `Whoever this girl is… she's gonna regret the day she decided to let Inuyasha in her life,' she gave the driver a sign and he started the engine. `I guess the story is about to repeat…' she sighed and looked out the window as they drove to Naraku's place.
