“I can't keep going! There must be something I can do!” Inuyasha yelled hysterical.

 

After he had dinner with Kagome and once it had stopped raining, Inuyasha walked her home. He wanted to make sure Kagome would be safe and that way he would sleep calmly that night. As Inuyasha made his way to his apartment, he crashed with Miroku on his way. Miroku told him about what happened a week ago, when his girlfriend had been kidnapped. Inuyasha told him he wasn't the only one; apparently the band of seven was more interested in hurting the members of Naraku's gang than to eliminate it. As the night passed by, they decided to have a drink. That's when Inuyasha told Miroku about everything, his two options for to escaping with Kikyo and his older brother's offer of helping him to catch Naraku. The bar they had entered was almost empty except for the drunken man at the corner of the bar and the young yet beautiful bartender waiting for the costumer's orders.

 

“You seem to be in a very hard decision, I'm just glad I'm not in a deal as big as yours.” Inuyasha sighed annoyed and made a sign to the bartender to serve him another drink.

 

“Listen kid, you're a genius… isn't there a way I can't get out of the gang without getting killed or in jail?” Miroku thought about it for a second.

 

“Kid? I remind you that you're only 2 years older than me.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes a bit annoyed.

 

“Whatever, are you gonna help me or what?” Inuyasha asked irritated.

 

“You can start by being an assiduous minion for Naraku; he might believe you are now loyal.” Inuyasha arched his brow turbidly.

 

“And why the fuck would I want that?” Inuyasha asked taking a sip of a beer the waitress had just given him.

 

“You need him to trust you, listen… this is what you'll do. Agree to Sesshomaru's and Kikyo's offer, I have a great plan but you have to be ready to sacrifice everything you own.” Inuyasha was dazed but nodded.

 

“Everything?” he echoed and swallowed hard before making the hardest question in his life. “Even… even Kagome?”

 

“If you want everything to go well between the two of you, the most important thing is that you don't tell her anything about this plan… you haven't discussed with her what your brother or Kikyo told you, right?” Inuyasha shook his head weakly. “That's great… I'm gonna help you Inuyasha, just because I know that it's the only way you and I can get out of this mess.”

 

“Alright, what's your plan?” Miroku grinned before he started.

“Such a lovely day…” he chanted to the rhythm of the popular System of a Down song. He had changed the lyrics to match his feelings towards the day. “And it's mine, the most loveliest day of my life…”

 

“Brother, I informed our members that we are going to attack when night arrives. Is it okay with you?” Renkotsu asked Bankotsu and he turned around to smile.

 

“Of course.” Renkotsu nodded and he continued as he searched for his favorite gun, his beloved revolver through his drawers. “Such a lovely day, should be allowed… it's a day that I can stand.”

 

Being the psycho he was, Bankotsu was happy about a rampage. He enjoyed watching people horrified, people sweating cold of fear and of course watching them dying slowly under his feet.

 

“Bankotsu, why are we going after Naraku? Why not Inuyasha?” Jakotsu pouted and Bankotsu chuckled.

 

“He's going to be there Jakotsu, Inuyasha will be there because it's pay day… he must pay Naraku and we will kill everyone in that building. Witnesses, guilty men and women, people that have nothing to do with it… it's gonna be a rampage, aren't you glad Jakotsu?”

 

“It's the most beautiful day of my life.” He smiled and Bankotsu shook his head.

 

“No, it's the most perfect day of my life.” He laughed and his brother walked out of his room.

 

Bankotsu kept on searching through his room as he chanted his little song happily, as he made his way through he found one of the pictures he had made one of his followers take. This picture was of Kagome going back to her house along with Inuyasha, Bankotsu smiled gladly. `Your stupid boyfriend is scum compared to me, an idiot man whose decisions affected his whole life… how can you feel something for such a weak human being?' he thought bitterly before ripping the picture, he threw away the half with Inuyasha and folded inside his pocket the piece with Kagome. Finally, he opened the last drawer and found his gun. He called banryu.

 

“Such a lovely day… and it's mine. It's the day Inuyasha will die.” He laughed wickedly before hiding his gun inside his jacket.

For the first time in days, Kagome saw Sango back at school. She got to class late so she didn't bother going to ask her why she had been missing school lately. Even though Sango had changed a lot within the last few months, Kagome knew she would still care about her final exams. After all, if she failed she would have to repeat 11th grade and Kagome didn't want to be without her only true friend when she graduated from 12th grade. Just a few more days and she would reach her seventeen birthday, she briefly remember the conversation she once had with her mother about what she wanted as a present. `Will she ever believe me if I told her I want nothing at all?' she thought lazily and sighed. `Of course not, my mother will believe the contrary… I'll ask her for something meaningless then… like a box of chocolates.' The bell brought her back to the real world and saw Sango rush out of the class, Kagome gathered her stuff quickly and followed her.

 

“Sango!” she yelled as her friend ran through the school's halls. “Sango, wait!”

 

Kagome saw her best friend enter in the bathroom and once she was inside, pour out everything she had inside her. Kagome heard her vomit and felt disgusted through the bathroom door. Then, she heard the water run and entered to see Sango washing her mouth with some water from the sink. Kagome touched her back lightly and Sango sighed heavily.

 

“Are you sick or something?” Kagome asked innocently, Sango threw the water she held in her mouth before answering.

 

“No, I'm not sick… I just got dizzy.” She explained and washed her hands. “Why did you follow me?”

 

“I thought something was wrong with you, I'm just glad you're okay.” Sango smiled for a small second before going back in the toilet to throw up again.

 

“Are you sure it wasn't something you ate?” Kagome asked once again through the door. Sango came out and let out a few whimpers.

 

“I can't do this!” she sobbed on Kagome's shoulder; her best friend looked at her very surprised.

 

“What? What's wrong with you?” she whispered softly against her ear, Sango slowly pulled away from her embrace.

 

“Promise me that first, you won't make a scandal and second, you won't tell anyone… especially Miroku.” Kagome nodded and Sango took a deep breath. “I'm pregnant… I've been wearing big sweaters because I don't want anyone to notice.”

 

 

Sango pulled out her big sweater and revealed a small-developed tummy. It wasn't as big as Kagome expected but still she got very surprised. Sango bit her bottom lip to prevent sobs from coming out of her throat. Unfortunately, she failed and she broke down in tears. Kagome quickly ran to her side and held her tightly, after a few minutes Sango felt better and cleaned away her tears before standing up.

 

“What am I going to do Kagome? My parents will kill me if they know that I'm pregnant at the age of 17.” Sango cleaned another her tears and Kagome sighed heavily.

 

“I don't know… why don't you try telling them? Maybe they will accept it and nothing bad will happen. I know Miroku would love to be part of your baby's life… you just have to tell him what happened, he's not going to reject you.” Sango thought about it for a second before shaking her head.

 

“No, he's not like that… Miroku is such a wonderful man but I don't want him to throw away his life just because I told him we didn't need protection.” Kagome was about to talk when Sango spoke first. “I was thinking about getting rid of the baby, no one would know it.”

 

“You mean… get an abortion?” Kagome asked terrified and shocked, Sango nodded weakly.

 

“I know it's morally incorrect, but if I do have this baby… everyone will suffer, my family, my boyfriend and my child included.”

 

Kagome looked at her best friend, her look was filled with deception and Sango knew how she felt about her decision. Kagome wanted to argue with her and tell her not to do it because she didn't want her to regret it for the rest of her life. But she knew that when Sango came to a decision, no one could make her change her mind. `I wonder what Miroku would think if he knew about this.' She thought vaguely and sighed.

 

“Will you do me a favor?” Sango asked taking her out of her thoughts.

 

“That depends.” Kagome whispered softly and Sango cleaned another tear rolling down her cheek.

 

“I want you to be with me at the abortion clinic… I don't want to be alone at that moment.” Kagome took a few deep breaths. “Please tell me you'll do it.”

 

“I'll just let you know, that I'm not happy with your decision… and that if it was someone else I would leave her alone but you're my best friend Sango, it kills me to know what you're about to do… but I won't leave you alone, never.” Sango felt a wave of emotion hit her again and hugged Kagome tightly.

 

“Thank you Kagome, thank you for being my best friend.” She sobbed as Kagome patted her back lightly, making her soft touch reassuring her everything will be okay.

“I love you Inuyasha… with all my heart, I miss you and I can't wait for us to run away together… bye honey, I love you.”

 

He heard the message for the forth time but still it didn't sound convincing. Kikyo had called him exactly 4 hours after he left his apartment to work at the mechanic. Inuyasha got “home” exhausted and he just wanted to lie down at his bed and never get up. That's when he noticed in his cell phone a voice message; the first time he listened to it he felt his heart skip a beat. He replayed it a few more times and by the forth time he realized that every word that left her mouth was a complete lie. Inuyasha deleted the message before throwing the phone far away from him. It was one of those days in which he felt like doing nothing at all but then someone started knocking at his door. He lazily got up and walked towards the old door before opening it.

 

“What are you two doing here?” he asked as he saw his girlfriend and her best friend outside the door.

 

“We don't know that well the city so we wanted you to take us to this address.” Inuyasha looked suspiciously at the paper Kagome handed him.

 

“What are you going to do there?” he asked as he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, Kagome immediately took it way from him. “What?”

 

“You know I hate it when you smoke.” She said in a very serious voice tone. “There are a few things we need to take care of.”

 

“Right now?” he asked as he let out a heavy sigh, Kagome nodded. “Fine, I'll get my coat.”

 

Inuyasha quickly went inside and grabbed his black jacket along with his cell phone. Inuyasha slammed the door of his apartment behind him and grabbed Kagome's hand as he walked down followed closely by Sango. Inuyasha looked up the dark night sky, the clouds had gathered together once again and they had a gray appearance, he knew for sure that tonight was going to rain. He sighed heavily as he remembered what Miroku had told him.

 

“Even… even Kagome?”

 

“If you want everything to go well between the two of you, it's the most important thing that you should not tell her anything about this plan…”

 

“Hey, stranger...” Kagome pulled him out of his thoughts and he immediately placed his eyes on her. “Your phone is ringing.”

 

“Thanks.” He said quickly before answering his phone. “Hello?”

 

“It's already 20 and you haven't given me my money, where the fuck are you?” Naraku yelled hysterically and Inuyasha sighed before stopping.

 

“I lost track of time, I'll be there in about 10 minutes… got that?” he heard Naraku let out an annoyed sigh.

 

“Better make it 5.” Then he hung up, Inuyasha took the phone away from his ear and put it back to his pocket.

 

“You ladies mind if we make a small stop at my boss's office? It'll take only a minute.” Kagome nodded and Sango shrugged her shoulders. “Great, taxi!” he yelled and waited for the vehicle to stop so they could hop in.

“I said 5 minutes not 10, now where's my money?” Naraku asked bitterly, Inuyasha sat on his office while Kagome and Sango waited for him outside.

 

“I was a bit far from here.” He answered as he threw over the table a large envelope. “Inside there is more than 2000 dollars, don't ask how I got it.”

 

“Good… I'm glad to see how good you are working lately. Keep that spirit Inuyasha.” He laughed maliciously as he opened the wrapper that covered his money.

 

Since Miroku's plan involved being such a good and loyal minion to Naraku, he thought that it would include giving him more money that requested. For Naraku, the minimum amount of cash Inuyasha could give him was 1000 dollars. Inuyasha begged Miroku for the other thousand and after promising he would pay him back, he gave him more money. It was an awfully quiet night; usually around that hour Inuyasha would hear traffic outside Naraku's window and see cars trying to park at the club right in front of the building. Tonight, it was different. Not a single soul was out there and he didn't even hear the honk of a car outside.

 

“You can leave now,” he said as he kept the count of his money. “Unless, of course, you want to tell me why you are here with Miroku's bitch.”

 

“That's none of your business.” Inuyasha hissed bitterly and Naraku chuckled amused.

 

“Yes, right… I bet it would be Miroku's business.” He laughed once again, just like last time.

 

“She's a friend of Kagome's, now leave me alone.”

 

It was then when they both panicked, a loud gunshot was heard at the bottom of the building followed by louder scream and more shots. Naraku and Inuyasha immediately ran towards the window and saw downstairs to see Bankotsu; along with his gang. They were outside, trying to make their way into the building. They heard him laugh maliciously before he looked up at both of them.

 

“Bonsoir mon amies, a beautiful night… isn't it?” he yelled loud enough for them to hear it, the two of them remained silent. “I'll be right up so we can have a nice chat.”

 

“The cops will be on your ass after this!” Naraku warned but he only got another laugh as a response.

 

“I paid the cops… why else do you think I could be here killing everyone here? Do you think I'm stupid like you?” he asked, somehow Naraku felt he was grinning as he said it.

 

Naraku closed the window and walked outside to his apartment. His nervousness was interrupting his thinking, Naraku was trying to open the door but he was too scared to enter the key and unlock his own door. Finally, he took a deep breath and opened it quickly. Inuyasha followed closely behind him as he made his way through his apartment, Naraku stopped at a metal door. He inserted a code number and the door opened with a click, inside there were all types of weapons from shotguns to Uzis. Naraku grabbed two of the special weapons and left the room.

 

“Grab whatever you feel like, don't you dare leave Kagome alone.” He warned and went towards the elevator as Inuyasha followed him. Naraku quickly pulled out his cell phone. “Kagura, bring everyone here… we're under attack.”

 

“Where are you going?” he asked, not concerned but amazed. Naraku hung up the phone and looked back at Inuyasha as he entered the elevator.

 

“To kill some bastards.” Naraku answered with a grin as the elevator doors closed.

 

Inuyasha ran towards the place where the guns where securely hidden. He looked everywhere, to stare at guns that were calling his name in a way in which he had never heard before. It was his thirst for blood bouncing up and down his body but he didn't want to become that monster, not anymore. He closed the door behind him to avoid temptation and went towards the place Sango and Kagome where silently waiting for him with terror.

 

“What's going on here?” Sango asked and Inuyasha simply shook his head.

 

“Nothing, we're just going to hide for a while… I'm sure you heard what happened.” Both girls nodded. “Then there's no need for questions. Get inside the closet, quickly.”

 

Kagome and Sango did as ordered and closed the door after they were in. Inuyasha stood outside, hoping Naraku would come back and tell him to walk out. `As if that would happen…that man cares more about his life than anyone else. I just wonder… where Kikyo is?' he asked himself quietly and sighed. `Why do I keep doing this? She's not reliable. I can't trust her… not after the hell she put me through. I must learn to forget her, stop caring about her.' His thoughts stopped when he heard the elevator doors open, he was about to go when he heard the sound of loud heels clacking against the marble floor, it seemed it was going rapidly towards his place. It was then when he saw Kikyo standing right in front of him panting. She looked as if she had barely escaped; her eye make up was dissipated and smeared all over her face making her look like. Kikyo's hair was very messy, her white silk blouse was partly destroyed and her black skirt was lightly ripped around her left leg.

 

“I was so scared.” She admitted as she threw herself on his arms, Inuyasha held her tightly against his chest trying to calm her down.

 

“What happened?” he asked lowly, Kikyo closed her eyes for a moment before talking.

 

“I was entering the building, when I saw them coming. I felt a cold shiver run through my whole body but I stood still, trying to remain calm and quite. Then I heard the shot of a gun and saw the guard falling down…he had a wide hole in his chest and a saw liters of blood pouring out.” Kikyo whimpered and held him tighter. “Bankotsu, held me by my hair… he told me he was going to kill me and then throw my body right in front of Naraku. Bankotsu, he… he grabbed me by my clothes and said he was going to rape me right there. But I kicked him and ran towards the elevator, luckily Naraku showed up… but I don't know what happened to him. Inuyasha, do you think he's okay?”

 

“I… can't tell.” He answered truthfully and she bit her bottom lip to prevent her sobs from coming out. “Why are you so worried about him? Do you love him?”

 

“Inu…” Kagome's voice came from the closet. Inuyasha cursed silently, he didn't curse her but himself for being so weak. “I think it's better if we all hide.”

 

“Yeah, Kikyo… get inside the closet, I'll keep you safe.” She smiled before kissing Inuyasha feverishly, he wanted to push her away but he was trapped between a rock and a hard place. Between his love for Kagome and his love for Kikyo. “I love you.”

 

“Get inside.” Inuyasha replied dryly as he shot a look at Kagome, who didn't dare look him in the eyes.

 

Inuyasha clenched his fists in fury; although he was sure he loved Kagome more than Kikyo he just couldn't stop her. There was something Inuyasha couldn't admit, Kagome was his present but Kikyo was his past. She was a part of him that could never be erased so no matter how much he said she didn't mean anything to him. He could never dyne that he loved her and that maybe he, he still did. `If I had to choose between Kagome and Kikyo… I'm sure I would pick Kagome but why? Is it only because of my promise to Shinta? Or is it because I really and truly love her? Would I dare to pick Kikyo? But… from what I just heard, she doesn't love me… she loves Naraku and as hard as it is for me, I don't want Naraku to suffer… not after everything he did in the past, when we were young.' The elevator doors opened again, Inuyasha remained still consumed in his thoughts until he heard him laugh joyfully.

 

“I thought Bankotsu lied to me, but here you are… looking as handsome as ever.” Jakotsu flirted and Inuyasha directed his eyes towards his magnum gun. “Don't worry; I won't use this… unless it's necessary.”

 

“You disgust me.” Inuyasha mumbled. Jakotsu laughed once again, this time maliciously.

 

“I hoped I didn't have to use this but you're being so mean to me Inuyasha. Oh! I can't look!” he covered his eyes with his hand before aiming his gun at Inuyasha.

 

Jakotsu pulled the trigger as he let out cruel chuckles; Inuyasha evaded his shot easily since he saw where he was aiming at but he did a terrible mistake, he let the bullet hit the closet. Inuyasha looked back at it. For that short brief moment, everything was at slow motion; he saw some blood spill out and then heard a loud sharp shriek coming from one of the girls hidden inside.
