[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Her body remained motionless on the floor even though the bullet had hit her upper leg, very close to her hipbone. The other two girls looked at her blood pour out as if someone had just accidentally dropped a glass of crimson wine. Her blood was everywhere, lightly touching their feet. Outside the closet, Inuyasha looked at the doors worried. He didn't dare open them; he wouldn't let Jakotsu hurt the girls or worse, kill them. Inuyasha looked back at Jakotsu who was now enjoying the heart wrenching sight of the blood pool forming at Inuyasha's feet, Jakotsu laughed pleasurably as he loaded his weapon preparing to fire again. Inuyasha looked back at the closet that was just an inch away from him, making sure that this time he didn't let anyone get hurt.

“I would like to see your blood dispensing that way.” Jakotsu commented as Inuyasha shot him a look filled with despise.

“You picked the wrong guy to mess with.” Jakotsu eyed him recklessly and the last thing he remembered was Inuyasha's elbow over his head as he knocked him unconscious.

“Kagome.” He mumbled as he walked towards the closet.

Inuyasha opened it and saw Kagome with her shirt ripped, Kikyo's once white silk blouse was now tainted bloody red. Inuyasha heard the whimpers of Sango on the floor and saw her face; it was red and tears where surrounding her cheeks as more fled from her eyes meeting her soft skin. Kagome tightened the piece of shirt around Sango's leg to prevent more blood from coming out. Inuyasha then looked again at Kikyo, who was very frightened by the scene she just witness and with her cell phone on her hand as if she was about to call 911.

“We have to take her to a hospital.” Kagome whispered softly and her boyfriend nodded.

“I know.” He replied still looking at Kikyo, she looked back at him and nibbled her bottom lip. Kagome was aware of the situation but ignored it.

“Inuyasha, how are we going to go out with all this happening downstairs?” Kagome asked, for a moment he looked at his real girlfriend. Inuyasha sighed heavily before scratching the back of his head as he thought of a solution.

“Go to the elevator, I'll take Sango.” He said and the two raven-haired beauties nodded as they made their way there, Inuyasha gently pulled Sango up and tried to make it as painless as possible.

“Do you have a plan? Because if you don't we are screwed.” Kikyo told him, he half smiled as Kagome hit the elevators doors and pressed the button for the first floor.

“Of course I do, I won't do this if I didn't.” He said as he eyed the numbers of the floors.

At the sight of the second floor he hit the emergency button and opened the door located at the ceiling of the elevator. Inuyasha got out easily, climbing out as if he was a monkey. He then stretched his hand towards the girls and Kagome passed him Sango. He hardly had to pull her up so he could lay her gently next to him. He helped Kagome out next and then he pulled Kikyo out. Kagome gave him a confused look as she watched him open the doors of the floor.

“Get out girls, Kagome… help Sango walk, you won't be able to carry her so just help her walk around… she may have received a shot wound but she can still hop. Take the first door at the left, it will take you to the emergency stairs and they will take you to an alley. I'll meet you there in a moment.”

“Wait! Inuyasha… where are you going?” she asked terribly worried as Inuyasha helped her out, Kagome helped Kikyo and then grabbed Sango and pulled her up slowly.

“To help out Naraku.” He answered insipidly and went down the elevator again.

Inuyasha heard Kagome and Kikyo walk away along with Sango, once he heard they had made it to the emergency stairs. `Why am I doing this? Why help Naraku after everything he did to me? Kill the only person I ever cared, try to make Kagome hate me, take away Kikyo, take away what Shinta left me… so why am I going to help him?' he asked himself, Inuyasha sighed heavily before answering. `Because you care about him. Because even though he made your life a living hell he was once the only person whom you trusted.' Inuyasha opened the doors and walked out, he was very careful in case he would crash with anyone of Bankotsu's gang members. He heard the loud shots of their guns and shrieks coming from both men and women who were involved in that stupid yet horrible war. Inuyasha walked towards the entrance of the first floor, he saw many people lying dead on the ground. He walked around the first floor lightly bent down, in case someone came out and dared to kill him. Inuyasha stopped behind a pillar and breathed heavily, he heard someone reloading his gun next to his ear.

“Well, well, well… if it isn't mister peaceful.” Inuyasha heard Naraku say, he furiously pushed away his gun and stood up.

“You fucker! I came here to help you and the only thing you think about is to scare the shit out of me!” Naraku laughed as Inuyasha looked at him closely.

Just like Inuyasha once was, Naraku was a skillful killer. Naraku had only a small gash across his cheek indicating he had fought with someone with blades, the only other thing that might have revealed an injury was the red bloody spots in his shirt but they were of the people he had killed. He had always been better with weapons than with his hands. While Inuyasha was in underground fighting, Naraku was Shinta's bodyguard but that changed when Naraku was promoted as his right hand. He was very happy in his position, he could do everything that his boss and protector did but there was something he never liked. The fact that Inuyasha was promoted at the exact same time, to the same damn position as he was.

“Where is Kagome?” Naraku asked concerned and Inuyasha crossed his arms.

“At the alley, are you finished with everyone?” Naraku ignored his question and looked at him worried.

“Where is Kagome?” he repeated and Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “Didn't I tell you not to leave her alone?”

“She's not alone… she's with Kikyo.” Naraku was surprised.

“Is she okay?” he whispered softly and Inuyasha nodded, he was angry. Naraku cared about Kikyo as much or even more as she cared about him. “Thank god…”

“How many people are left? Did you kill them all?” Naraku shook his head unsure.

“I saw lots of them going upstairs… they might be killing other families, I guess I should escape.” Inuyasha looked at him in shocked horror. He furiously pushed Naraku against the wall.

“Do you realize that all of this is your fault and you're gonna let everybody die because you're a coward?” Inuyasha asked fumingly and Naraku pushed him away from him.

“Oh, so now you're going to act like a Good Samaritan and help out everyone, huh?” Naraku mocked him and Inuyasha sighed annoyed.

“I don't want people to die.” He mumbled.

“Too bad, `cause most of them are already dead.” Bankotsu said as he pointed his revolver at Naraku. “And you're about to be likewise.”

“Think again.” Naraku said and pulled out his uzis, Bankotsu looked at them and laughed.

“Is that all you got? Two miserable pistols? I expected more… from the leader of the Shikon no Tama.” Bankotsu made a sign and a crowd came out. They had every kind of gun known.

“I got myself a group, remember that.” He said and more people came out, they had guns like them but they also carried baseball bats and blades.

“I'm glad you're not weak… `cause it would have been less fun that we would have.” Naraku half smiled.

“Are you going to fight, or all you're going to do is talk?” Bankotsu returned the smile and their groups crashed with each other.

Inuyasha heard loud shots and shrieks coming out from everywhere, he saw people getting shot on their heads and their brains, organs, and blood spilled out in the floor covering in a gory mess. It was the first time Inuyasha had felt so disgusted to see so many corpses lying around. He closed his eyes for a moment and then felt someone chocking him. Inuyasha grabbed his hands and threw him across the room, he was about to fight when he remembered Sango. Inuyasha sighed and took the sword of a dead girl on the floor. He had to kill people, to save a girls life. Inuyasha used the sword as an expert; he used it to repel the bullets and to cut their throats. Suddenly, he felt someone tapping his shoulder and when he looked back he got a punch on the face.

“I didn't want to ruin your pretty face but you made me do this!” Jakotsu replied madly as Inuyasha got up.

“I would say I'm sorry, but I enjoyed that… as much as I'll enjoy this.” Inuyasha quickly dug in his sword and saw his expression, he was shocked at first and then it hurt. He saw two trails of blood pour down from his mouth and when Inuyasha pulled out the blade he fell.

“I thought you would never kill again.” He heard someone say, Inuyasha pointed the blade at that person and saw Miroku.

“It's you kid, what are you doing here?” Miroku arched his brow.

“No, what are you doing here? You just collect the money… why are you fighting for Naraku?” Inuyasha laughed.

“I'm not fighting for him… I'm fighting for my life. Listen, something happened and we need to get to the hospital. Cover my back while we get out.” Miroku nodded and aimed at people approaching them ready for a fight.

As Miroku shot everyone behind Inuyasha, Inuyasha dug his sword in every person he found in his way. He killed them even if they were part of Naraku's gang; Miroku on the other hand just selected the guys from the opposite side. Finally they had reached a door, Inuyasha ran out as fast as he could and Miroku took his time before going out. As he made his way to the alley, he found Kagome near a corner; he softly threw the sword on the floor and ran to her. Kagome hugged him; Inuyasha recognized what she was feeling at the moment. Kagome cried silently in his arms and kissed his lips lightly before hearing a loud scream.

“Sango!” Miroku yelled and walked towards her, he noticed her leg and the pain in her eyes. He looked back at Inuyasha and aimed his gun at him. “Why didn't you tell me she was the emergency? Why didn't you tell me she was hurt? Why did you let it happen?”

“Calm down Miroku, I did it because I didn't want you to worry and that bastard of Jakotsu shot at her.” Miroku pulled away his gun and threw it violently against the wall of the building; he picked up Sango gently and threw his car keys at Inuyasha.

“You drive.” Miroku said insipidly and Inuyasha sighed, Kagome followed Miroku and Sango to the car while Inuyasha looked for Kikyo.

“Is he okay?” she asked and Inuyasha nodded as Kikyo cleaned a tear.

“Come with me, I don't want you getting him in any trouble.” She nodded and grabbed his hand as they walked to the car.

Once Inuyasha stopped the car, Miroku ran out with Sango in his arms where she was immediately taken by the staff nurses. The walls where painted with an ivory color, in a weak attempt to keep the people inside calmed but Miroku could only think about his girlfriend that was slowly pouring out blood and with it her life. Miroku wanted to go in but they told him only family was allowed to go in. He sat worriedly near the gift shop; Kagome was next to him and hugged him tightly. Miroku finally let out a few sobs, letting Kagome know how scared he was and how much he wanted Sango to be okay. Kagome tried not to cry since she knew that it would only make things worse. He pulled away from her embrace and she gently cleaned away his tears.

“She will be fine, Sango's tough.” She reminded him and he nodded softly.

“I know… I just… I wish I was with her before, instead of leaving her alone I should have been with her.” Miroku tightened his fists, Kagome patted his back softly.

“But what if you got shot? Do you think Sango would have known what to do in that situation? She could have even got killed… I always thought things happen for a reason and I believe that this isn't any different.” Miroku nodded and sighed heavily, he looked at the hour; it was almost midnight.

“Her parents are going to kill me once they come here.” Kagome shook her head.

“I heard Sango saying something about staying at home alone; her parents had to go to a conference in Australia and took Kohaku with them.” Miroku nodded, somehow relieved. He closed his eyes for a moment and let out a heavy breath.

“You should call your mom.” Kagome nodded. .

“I'll make a call from the phone both.” Miroku sighed and watched Kagome walk out.

She was about to make her call when she saw her boyfriend smoking a cigarette, she smiled sadly because even though she hated when he smoked, the simple image of watching him there was joyful to her. Kagome was about to go with him when she saw Kikyo next to him, smoking a cigarette as well. She stopped in her tracks and closely gazed upon them behind a wall.

“I think I should go in.” Inuyasha said and threw the cigarette on the floor, he stepped on it but Kikyo grabbed him by his arm.

“Stay a few more minutes, I think we should talk.” Kikyo said and he crossed his arms.

“About what?” She smiled and threw her cigarette away.

“Our escape, listen honey we should hurry… things are becoming more complicated and as much as I care about him, you are the one I love and if we are going to run away, we should do it now.” Inuyasha arched his brow while Kagome listened to everything silently from a safe distance.

“Now?” he echoed and Kikyo nodded. “There are a few things I need to take care of.”

“If it's that girl Kagome you shouldn't even bother, darling if you are going to run away with me, it was because you love me… now do you love me?” Kikyo asked and Kagome covered her mouth to stop herself from saying anything.

“I do.” Inuyasha lied, and unbeknownst to him, Kagome felt someone hit her heart as a punching bag.

“Then stop seeing her from now on, from this day until we run away you will not see her and if you want to see her behind my back I will know, because I'll send someone to spy on you… okay?” he nodded silently. “I'm getting cold, I'm go back in.”

Inuyasha pulled out from his pocket another cigarette stick, he was about to light it when he heard some steps. He saw Kagome coming out from behind a wall. He was very surprised but remained calm. Kagome walked towards him and threw the stick he had on his mouth away from him.

“What was she talking about?” Kagome asked furiously, anger dripping from her words as he looked away in shame.

“Nothing, just nonsense.” He replied insipidly before he felt the sting of her hand across his cheek. Kagome turned Inuyasha's face towards hers.

“Look at me in the eyes and tell me the truth.” She begged in a hushed voice. Inuyasha could see tears forming in the corners of her eyes but instead of cleaning them he just gently got her hand away from his face. He stood there silently, not daring to look at her eyes, which were overflowing in tears of sadness and betrayal. “Please, tell me you were lying when you told her you loved her.”

“Of course I was… do you believe I would still love her after everything she did to me?” he asked as he gently wiped away her tears before hugging her sweetly.

“What was she talking about?” Kagome asked as she pulled away from his embrace.

“Nothing.” He repeated and Kagome sighed heavily.

“Why is it so important? Why can't you just say it?” Inuyasha sighed annoyed.

“Do you have to know everything about my life? I'm older than you and I have never asked you anything! Not even about that creep Kouga!” he raised his voice.

“I'm your girlfriend.” Kagome said softly.

“And I'm your boyfriend… but I don't get involved in your stuff and I would like you to do the same.” Kagome nodded and cleaned a few tears that rolled down her cheeks.

“Fine… I love you Inuyasha but you just broke my heart.” She whispered and ran inside the hospital.

“Fuck.” He mumbled and pulled out another cigarette stick.

“Is there anyone here responsible for… Sango Taija?” the doctor asked, Miroku immediately got up and walked towards him. “Who are you?”

“Um… I'm her older brother.” Miroku replied, the doctor looked at him skeptically but sighed.

“I'm afraid your sister got a severe injury on her leg caused by a bullet, it hit her bone and it made her bone break. She will have to use crutches to walk for about a month and we had to give her blood… she was almost dead when I got to operate her, but thank god I got the bullet out of her leg and now she's fine.” Miroku nodded and the doctor looked at his chart. “She could have even lost the baby due to all her blood lost.”

“Baby?” Miroku repeated amazed and the doctor nodded.

“Yes, she has a pregnancy of exactly 2.5 months… do you know the father?” Miroku nodded mechanically. “I hope they love each other enough to get married at such a young age, but why am I still talking? You might want to see her.”

“Is she awake?” the doctor nodded.

“But she is very weak; do not make her agitated or angry.” Miroku nodded once again before the doctor let him inside.

As Miroku walked inside her room he noticed her walls weren't ivory as the ones on the outside, they were a very peaceful and calming green. He watched his girl on the bed, her leg was covered with a cast. Miroku saw Sango open slowly her eyes, she smiled softly and he kissed her forehead. Miroku sat at the edge of the bed and sighed relaxed before he reached for her hand.

“My hero.” She whispered weakly and Miroku smiled.

“I'm glad you're okay Sango, I'm sorry.” He apologized.

“Why?” she asked a bit concerned.

“Because I wasn't with you when you got shot, I came at last when you were about to die.” Sango smiled lightly.

“But you have a great friend that helped me out, he is the reason I got out of there but you are what kept me alive.” Miroku kissed her again, this time on her lips.

“There's something I would like to talk with you about. Are you…?” Miroku was about to ask her what the doctor had already told him, but he remembered that Sango shouldn't be agitated so he stopped.

“What?” Sango asked curious and he shook his head.

“Nothing, let's leave this for later… okay? I'll tell Kagome to call your parents and to tell them that you will be sleeping at her house.”

“I love you Miroku.” Sango whispered before closing her eyes and sleeping.

“Me too.” He said softly and walked out of the room.
