Izayoi and Miroku's Stand

Yet another chapter. I must say that it is amazing that I've made it this far. I really hope
you're liking this. I do have plenty of ideas in my pretty little head. So, I guess I should get
on with the story. For those of you who don't know, Kagome is currently eighteen in this
story and is still in high school. But by the time this story ends, she will be nineteen and
about, if not already finished school. Anyway, here goes the next chapter.
This is my longest chapter so far. Well, so here we go.

-=~*::xXoOoXx::*~=-

A dream came to him in the stillness of the night. A kind of dream he hadn't had in a long
time. She was there.

He could see her beautiful, kind face. He could hear her gentle, comforting laughter. His
guardian angel, she brought him into this world, she was his mother.

He would dream of her often after she first died. That only made him miss her more.
But that didn't change the fact that she was gone and she would never be back.
"InuYasha," she said as she sat under the flower bed under the tree by the lake. "Come
here, my son."
InuYasha did as he was told and joined her under the shade of the tree. Izayoi held out her
hand for him to take and he did so. He savored the all too familiar warmth of her hand, the
welcoming, sweet scent of her. This only made him miss her more. He looked at his hand in
hers. It was so small. He then realized that he was a kid again, the same age and size he
was when she first died. He was exactly the way he was the last time she saw him.
"InuYasha. Are you lonely without me?" Izayoi asked as she put her arm around his
shoulders.
InuYasha thought about this for a bit.
"At first I was mother. I was all alone in the world. Humans didn't want me. Demons didn't
want me. My own brother didn't want me. I was lonely. But then, I got friends, human and
demon. And...I'm not lonely anymore," he said in his now child like sounding voice.
"She's a great girl, that she is."
InuYasha looked at her.
"Who?"
"This friend of yours, the one who began to rid you of your lonliness. She's a great girl with a
kind heart, set on making things right. Take care of her, my little boy."
"You know mother, I'm not a little boy anymore."
Just then, he returned to his normal age and size.
She smiled sadly at him.
"No. I don't suppose you aren't. But you will always be my little boy....always."
He smiled, too.
"Why don't you come visit me here sometime, InuYasha? I get...lonely sometimes."
"I guess I'll do that mother."
"And bring her, too, when the time is right."
"Okay."
His mother slowly faded into the darkness and InuYasha woke up from his dream. It all
seemed so real to him. But as he began to think about it, it was real. He was there, in that
place, with her, his mother.

Ichimori wandered across the Western Lands, the Inu no Taisho's former domain. She now
knew it to be passed on to his son, Sesshomaru. If Kurosuke was truly back, Sesshomaru
would need to know.
The radiant demoness reached the castle, gaining winks and glances from the male demons
guarding the castle.
"State your business woman," one of them said as he looked her up and down.
"I am here to see Lord Sesshomaru. Won't you please let me in?"
"Is he expecting you?"
She smoothed down her hair. "What do you think?" she asked as she lowered
her voice to nothing but a soft, silky whisper.
They laughed. "Let's let her in. It's about time Sesshomaru got..."
"Excuse me?" Ichimori interuppted.
They let her in.
"I heard that somebody was here to see Lord Sesshomaru. Who are you woman and what
do you want?" Jaken demanded in his usual annoying seemingly inferior tone.
"I am Ichimori. I was a friend of Lord Sesshomaru's father and I come with important
news."
Jaken directed Ichimori to Sesshomaru's library, grouching and complaining the whole time.
"Lord Sesshomaru. This woman is here to see you."
Sesshomaru had been watching Rin play in the courtyard from the window. He didn't turn
around.
"Leave us Jaken."
"As you wish, my Lord."
Jaken left them alone.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Ichimori. I was a friend of your father's."
"And what business do you have with this Sesshomaru?"
"I thought I might give you some vital information, Lord Sesshomaru."

-=~*::(xXoOoXx)::*~=-

"I told you Sango. The hand has a will of it's own. I was asleep, you were alseep, but my
hand wasn't!"
"Yeah. Whatever Miroku. And I'm a purple raccoon," InuYasha said sarcastically.
"Well, you said it, not me," Shippo cut in.
"Hey! Just what is that supposed to mean?"
Shippo began to smile and took off running when InuYasha made his move.
"Get back here you little pest!" InuYasha said as he chased after the kitsune.
Miroku was sitting down at the foot of the hill as InuYasha chased Shippo across the field,
trying to give him a good thumping on the head.
Kagome shook her head. "He's so quick to temper, isn't he?"
Sango nodded.
"So Kagome, I've been thinking about what you said the other night, about what will happen
after the jewel is complete. Why don't you just stay here with us?"
Kagome shook her head.
"I don't think that would work," Kagome said as she watched InuYasha chasing Shippo.
"Why not?" Sango couldn't help but ask.
Kagome sighed.
"I just couldn't stay here Sango. I mean, I have nothing here. My family and my life is in my
time. I just don't belong here. It's not my world, it's yours."
"But Kagome, don't you understand? You do belong here. And we're your friends, there
and here."
"But if I were to purify the jewel here, I'd be trapped here. But if I purified the jewel in my
time, I'll be stuck there."
"That does present a problem."
"I know."
"Just what are you two lovely ladies talking about?" Miroku asked as he came back up the
hill.
"Nothing," Kagome said as she looked at Sango.
"Look Kagome. Why don't we just not think about it now?"
"Okay."
Miroku sat down next to Sango and Shippo came running up the hill, closely followed by
InuYasha.
"Kagome!" Shippo cried as he ran straight into Kagome's arms.
Seconds later, InuYasha was right in front of Kagome, trying to get to Shippo.
"Leave him alone, InuYasha," Kagome said as she wrapped her arms tighter around
Shippo to protect him.
"Move aside, wench. I'm gonna get the little kit."
"Leave him alone."
"No wen..."
"If you say that, I'll say 'it.'
"Wench."
"Sit!"
InuYasha's face got reaquainted with the ground.

"So you say that a vicious spider youkai has been attacking your livestock and your village?"
Sango asked as she crossed her arms.
"Yes miss. It really would be great if you would help us. We'll pay you and even offer you a
banquet and lodging for the night."
"You don't have to do that."
"No. It'd be our honor. As headman of this village, I hope you'll help us."
"Well, I am a youkai exterminator. It's my job. Now when does this spider youkai normally
attack?"
"Around mid afternoon."
After getting a bit more information on the youkai, Sango asked the headman if there was
anyplace she could change into her youkai exterminator clothing, she went off to change.
Kagome and InuYasha were sitting outside Sango's changing room on the porch while
Miroku sat on the steps with Shippo.

"Chill out monk. You're not completely useless."

"I know InuYasha. It's just that I haven't really fought a youkai since we defeated Naraku.
Sure. There was that bear youkai not too long ago, but you slashed it to bits with
Tetsusaiga before I even moved an inch!"

"Look Miroku. Just because you don 't have the Wind Tunnel anymore doesn't mean you
can't still help us. You're a monk for kami's sake. You have spiritual powers and your
ofuda's to back you up."

"Yeah. Look at Kagome. She helps out. Sure. She doesn't have the best aim in the
world, but she hits youkai with her arrows every once in a while."

"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Kagome asked as she glared at InuYasha.

Miroku decided to intervene before things got out of hand.

"Hey. Weren't we just talking about me a minute ago?"

"Don't worry Miroku," Sango said as she came out of the room in her youkai exterminator
attire. "We've got you covered. You'll be just fine."

Sango's words made him feel a bit better and he finally began to relax.

Around three o'clock, Kilala jumped up and began to growl and run off toward a field.

Everybody began to chase after her.

"The youkai's here!" They all said in union before they reached the field. They could all
sense the youkai's abundant power.

"I sense Sacred Jewel shards!" Kagome said as they reached the field.

The spider youkai was huge! They didn't doubt her. That monstrisity had to be drawing on
the power of a sacred jewel shard.

"Kagome. Just how many shards do you see?" InuYasha asked as he took Tetsusaiga out
of it's sheath.

"Two...In it's forhead!"

"I'm on it!" InuYasha called behind him after he took off in the direction of the youkai. Right
when he reached the spider, it's closest leg reached out and hit him, throwing him into a
tree trunk.

"Kilala!" Sango called as she ran towards the neko. Kilala transformed and Sango jumped
without stopping even for a second.

She hoisted her weapon above her head as Kilala took off into the air. "Hiraikotsu!" she
called as she launched the boomerang. It made contact with one of the youkai's legs and
earned her a shriek from the spider as her reward.

InuYasha opened his eyes. How could he be caught off guard so easily? He jumped back
and saw Sango throwing Hirakotsu at one of the spiders legs.

It shrieked in response and tried to hit her with the exact same leg. Shippo was using his
fox fire on another leg.

He watched as Kagome knocked back an arrow and let it soar through the air in a blinding
flash of pink light. It caught the spider off and infuriated it at the same time as the arrow
easily tore off the appendage.

The spider reached out it's leg to strike Kagome. InuYasha wasn't going to let that happen.
He reached her just in time, picking her up and soaring through the air with her.

He sat her down right next to Miroku, who he noticed, was the only one who hadn't
attempted to fight the youkai yet. He hadn't even tried to help Kagome.

"What the hell do you think you're doing monk?" InuYasha asked as he made sure Kagome
was okay. "Why aren't you helping? Sango and Kilala are out there fighting, Kagome's
trying to do her part, even Shippo is attempting to do something. So why aren't you
helping?"

Miroku held his right hand up to his face and laughed. He threw back his head and laughed
before he retrieved his staff from the ground next to him and took off toward the spider.

How could he be such a coward? He knew that he was strong, with or without that cursed
Wind Tunnel. Now was the time for him to overcome his fears, his doubts.

Now was the time for Miroku to make his stand.

"Sango!" Miroku called to the youkai exterminator. She understood and swooped down,
grabbing him by the arm and slinging him towards the spider.

Miroku landed on the youkai's head and gave Sango a thumbs up just before he slapped an
ofuda on the spider youkai's head and it was instantly paralyzed.

"Do it now InuYasha!" Miroku called as Sango came back and he hopped onto Kilala right
behind Sango.

InuYasha nodded as he took off and raised Tetsusaiga above his head, bringing it down as
he yelled, "Wind Scar!"

The Wind Scar made direct contact and hit the spider youkai, making it shriek in pain as it
dissolved into nothingness.

InuYasha placed Tetsusaiga back into it's sheath and he and Kagome watched as Sango,
Miroku, and Kilala landed.

"That was great Miroku! We told you. You're still strong without the Wind Tunnel."

"Not bad, monk. Not bad," InuYasha said as he saw Shippo running towards them.

"Kagome!" Shippo said as he tried to catch his breath. "The jewel shards are over there!"

Kagome nodded as she went to retreive the jewel shards. They all followed her and
watched as the jewel shards were instantly purified.

"That never gets old to me," Miroku said as Kagome put the jewel shards in the small bottle
that she kept the others in. "It still amazes me, how easy it is for her to do that."

The villagers came out from behind the trees where they had been hiding while watching the
fight.

The headman was the first to approach. "Thank you so much!" he said as he shook each of
their hands. "Please come back to the village with us so we can thank you properly."

"I'm afraid we must decline," Sango said.

Just then, a swarm of beautiful village girls came out from behind the trees and surrounded
Miroku.

"Oh you're just so great monk!" one of the girls said as she latched onto his arm.

"And he's a handsome one, too," another said as she fought over his other arm.

"Please stay tonight!" they said as they began to fight over him.

"Ladies, ladies. Calm down. There's enough of me to go around!"

"Oh brother," InuYasha said as Sango glared at Miroku and his new 'fan club.'

"Well," Miroku began as he made his way through the crowd of girls and to the headman. "I
guess that if these lovely young ladies want me...I mean us to stay so badly, then we
absolutely can't turn down your generosity."

"Great!" the elderly headman said as he turned towards the village. "We must prepare,
then."

They ended up staying. That night, a feast was held in their honor and Miroku was clearly
enjoying himself, joking around with the swarming village girls and asking them to bear his
children.

Sango glared at him the whole time.

"Oh calm down Sango," Kagome said as she put a hand on Sango's shoulder. "It's not a
big deal. They're just thanking him."

"Oh really. Let's see how you feel about that,"Sango said as she pointed over toward
InuYasha who had been ambushed by some village girls who were rubbing his ears and
kissing his cheek and calling him cute.

"Oh I absolutely love his ears!" One girl said as she massaged the fuzzy apendages.

"That's enough. It's my turn," one of them whined as she fought for control of the rubbing.

A few were running their fingers through his long, silver hair, telling him how much they loved
it. And some were even gazing longingly into his eyes which was really starting to freak him
out.

A girl pulled on his hair the wrong way. "Ouch! Hey stop that. Get away from me!" Of
course he didn't threaten them with Tetsusaiga because they were only girls, but he did
intend to get them off of him. But right when he was about to get them away from him...

"InuYasha!" Kagome called as she glared at him. He could have sworn her eyes were
glowing red. He knew what was coming.

"Wait Kagome! I didn't want them to....."

"Sit boy!" she said angrily.

"Ugh!" InuYasha sputtered out when his face made contact with the floor.

"I told you," Sango said calmly as she sipped on her tea. "Do you still think it's not a big
deal? Oh come on Kagome. As you said before, they're just thanking him," Sango teased.

Kagome didn't comment on that one.

All was quiet. But of course it would be. It was in the dead of the night, when everybody
else was asleep that he awoke.

Creeping from door to door, he finally found hers. He opened it carefully, quietly, hoping
not to wake her.

She appeared to be sleeping. He thanked kami that Kilala had decided to sleep with
Shippo and Kagome that night.

Tip toeing across the floor, he carefully pulled the covers back and crawled under with her.
Wrapping his arms around her, he settled down and went back to sleep with a smug smile
on his face.

Morning came and the sun streaked inside the room. Sango began to stir. She felt warmer
than usual. That's when she felt arms around her.

'What the....?" Sango thought. Without opening her eyes, she reached over and felt the
arm for confirmation.

"Good morning my dear Sango," Miroku said as he looked straight at her.

Sango opened her eyes only to find herself in bed, face to face with the lecherous monk.
And that's when it happened. She screamed. "Aaahhhh!!!!!!"

Miroku was startled. "Aaahhhh!!!!!!"

Sango scuttled out of bed and backed up against the wall.

"Wha....what are you doing here, Miroku?" Sango asked as she held her hand up to her
erratically beating heart.

"I just wanted to wake up to see the face of true beauty. I must say, you don't slap me like
normal when you're asleep," he said as he looked down at his hand.

That was it. She woke up only to be startled and then find out she was violated. "MIROKU!"
She said angrily as she neared him.

InuYasha, Kagome, Shippo, and Kilala were running towards the room. They slid back the
door.

"Hey. What's wrong Sango? We heard screaming and Miroku isn't in his...." Kagome was
cut off by Sango's slapping Miroku hard in the face, leaving a very red, very noticeable, very
deserved handpring.

"Room," InuYasha finished for Kagome as they shook their heads.

"Will Miroku ever learn his lesson?" Shippo asked as he looked at Kagome and InuYasha
who looked from each other, to Shippo, and then to Sango and Miroku.

All three shook their heads, no.

"I do not share your foolish sentimentality for these humans. I do not understand your
so called 'feelings' nonsense. You bring shame to our father, dishonor to our family!"
Kurosuke proclaimed as he stood face to face with his elder brother.

"Me? Do you dare imply that I, our fathers first born and heir, have shamed him at all, let
alone more than you ? You know that inu youkai mate for life and you know that the one you
chose was already taken, claimed by the Lord of the Southern Lands! And yet you bedded
that demon and started a war. Shame! Dishonor! Nobody personifies this more than you,
not I!"

The memory faded.

That arguement had taken place five hundred years before. That was around the time he
left for the continent, vowing to be back. He and his brother hadn't parted on the best of
terms.

He had always been looked down upon. He had always been in the shadow of his brother.
But he'd heard about it. He knew this to be true. His older brother had been slain in the
defense of a moral woman. How fortuitous for him. Now only one thing stood in his way of
claiming the lands he should have been afforded so long ago. The Western Lands. Only
Sesshomaru stood in his way.
Staring at his reflection in the pot of water, he removed the conealment charm temporarily
to stare at his inu youkai crests. The maroon crescent moon on his forehead marked him
as a poison bearing youkai. And he had blue stripes on his cheeks, marks like his brother,
his father, and his grandfather, and so on. But he took his black hair and amber eyes after
his father when his brother took the silver hair and amber eyes from their mother.
Kurosuke moved into the shadows of the room. He thought it to be ironic, that after all of
the years he had waited in the darkness, yearned for the light, that he'd prefer the darkness
to light, night over day.
He unclenched his hand and looked at his palm. The pink Sacred Jewel shard glowed.
"I really should thank this jewel shard, for without it bursting through the ceiling of the cave
and into my stone encasement, I'd have stayed stuck there." He threw back his head and
laughed. Maybe he should pay a visit to the one who shattered the jewel, the one who
allowed him his freedom. Yes, maybe he would do that.

Well, this chapter is done, but a new one shall begin soon, like in the next few minutes
when I'm ready to type again. Well, I must say this, "Bad Miroku!" Keep on reading
and enjoy. I actually like writing this stuff so far. So have you guessed who
Kurosuke's brother is, yet? I shall reveal it in the next chapter, I suppose. Until next
time, bye.
Next chapter: A New Objective, Consequences and Repercussions

~*Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha or any of the characters.
Though I do give my undying gratitude to Rumiko Takahashi
for creating it. But I do own any original characters I that I may
