Chapter 6
Home Again
Here we go again. I'm squeezing another chapter out of my brain. I don't quite have
the whole plot plannned out right now, but I think I know what direction I want to head in with this story. Maybe Hojo will be in this chapter. Maybe InuYasha won't
like that?! Well, you should just read and find out. Here we go.
Just to tell you, Hojo won't be in this chapter more than the mention of his name.
Thank you and read on. I don't like this chapter, myself, but the
others after it are better because I'm two ahead of this one already and I know, trust me.

"I'm home!" Kagome said as she and InuYasha walked through the door. He closed itthe whole plot plannned out right now, but I think I know what direction I want to head in with this story. Maybe Hojo will be in this chapter. Maybe InuYasha won't

behind them, which surprised her since he actually had the good courtesy to do it.
She looked back at him like he was crazy.
"What?"
She rolled her eyes and looked away from him as her mother came out of the kitchen.
"Kagome! I'm so glad you're home. And InuYasha. What a pleasant surprise."
"Hi mom," she said as she wrapped her arms around her in a warm hug.
"So what brings you home this time? Would you like me to make you something to
eat or draw you a bath?"
"Bath please. Well, I haven't been back in so long and I have to catch up on school. I
really shouldn't get too far behind since this is my senior year."
"I understand. I've gotten all of your make up work and you can work on some of it
while you're here."
"Thanks mom."
"Why don't you go say hi to you brother and grandpa while I get started on that bath?"
Mrs. Higurashi headed up stairs while Kagome headed for the living room.
The phone rang and Grandpa answered it.
All she heard as she made her way into the room was No, Kagome can't talk,
something about tonsilitis, and bye.
"Hey Grandpa," Kagome said as he turned around.
"Oh. You're back," he said as he looked from the phone to her.
"Well, that phone call wasn't for me, was it?" Kagome asked, even though she was
pretty sure that she already knew the answer.
"Uh....umm....."
"Hey Gramps. Have you seen my.....Oh hey Kagome! When did you get back?"
"About a minute ago. InuYasha and I..."
She didn't get to say anymore.
"InuYasha? He's here?" He took off towards the kitchen.
Kagome sighed and started up the stairs to go take her bath.
#-=~*::(xXoOoXx)::*~=-#
"InuYash a. I was wondering..." Kagome began as she sat at her desk to finish the last
of her make up work, which she had been working on non stop the whole day.
"Wondering what?"
"What if Sesshomaru won't give you the book?"
"Keh. He'll have to or else I'll stick Tetsusaiga right up his..."
"You will not stuck Tetsusaiga up places where it doesn't belong. Just think about it.
You're the one who will have to use the sword afterwards, not him."
"Keh."
She finished the last of her Math work, which took her the longest to do. She then
decided to finish reading her library book so that she could have her book report done
by Wednesday.
'There's nothing worse than listening to the sounds of preparations for a
great party, knowing that you're not invited. It's even worse when the party is
located in heaven, Sterling Brooks thought to himself.' Kagome read out loud.
"Do you have to read that out loud?" InuYasha complained as Kagome continued on.
"No."
She began to drum her finger nails against the wooden desk in a rhythmic pattern.
Kagome finished reading the last of the book and closed the it, finally sitting it down
next to her lamp.
She hated that she had to wake up so early the next morning, but she set her alarm
clock and turned off her lamp before she climbed into bed. InuYasha wouldn't like it
when the alarm clock went off in the morning and she knew it. She just hoped that he
wouldn't break it or something.
Kagome sighed as she remebered her smashed alarm clock and the smug look on the
perpetrators face. InuYasha had been too entirely satisfied by his feat.
And that had been her brand new alarm clock. Of course she had been so mad that
she was about to say 'the word' and sit him to kingdom come when just at that moment,
his ears twitched innocently. She didn't do it. For some reason, the dog ears were one
of her biggest weaknesses. The upside to it all was that he didn't know that, yet.
Thank goodness he was out of her hair for a few hours. He knew how to push her
buttons a little too well.
What he was going to do all day long, she had no idea, but she had a feeling he'd find
something.
"Hey Kagome!"
Kagome turned around and saw Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi running towards her.
"Oh. Hi guys!"
"We thought you wouldn't be here," Ayumi began. "Your grandpa said you had
tonsilitis."
"Yeah, well. I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics and now I'm better."
"Hojo's been asking about you," Eri said as the school bell rang.
"Um...Aren't we gong to go late?" Kagome asked as she tried to change the subject.
"Yeah. She's right," Yuka said.
They rushed into the school.
It had been an uneventful day. She proudly handed in all of her make up work and got
good grades on all of it.
At the end of the day when her friends asked her if she wanted to go out to eat with
them at Wacdnalds, she almost declined, but decided to go when she heard that Hojo
was looking for her.
"So Kagome. What have you been up to lately?" Yuka asked as she ate a french fry.
"Yeah. Had any boyfriend problems?" Ayumi asked.
"I should have known you were getting to that."
"So fess up. What's been going on?" Eri pressed.
"Look. Why do we have to talk about my love life?"
"Is it going that bad?" Yuka asked when Kagome wouldn't say anything.
"Has he been two timing you again?" Eri asked.
"You really should leave him Kagome, if that's the way he is. He doesn't care
about you. He's no good for you," Yuka said. "He doesn't deserve you."
"You're wrong!" Kagome said as she sat her half eaten cheeseburger down. "He...he
had a very hard childhood. He...lost his mother when he was only a little kid. And his
father died when he was a baby. The only family he had left was his half brother and
who hates him more than anything. He was always talked down to....ended up not
trusting anybody until...until he met me. You say he doesn't deserve me? Well he thinks
that he doesn't deserve anybody, especially not me! But he does, even if he doesn't
believe that. Do you have a problem with that?!!" Kagome said angrily as tears burned
the back of her eyes, tears that wouldn't fall, tears that she wouldn't let fall.
Yuka and Eri sat silent for a few moments.
"Uh...Kagome," Eri began after thinking it over for a while.
"No. I don't want to hear it," Kagome said as she stood up and began to walk away.
"I hope it works out for you, Kagome!" Ayumi said cheerfully as Kagome opened the
door. She was acting as if nothing had even happened. Yuka and Eri didn't understand
how she could do that.
#-=~*::(xXoOoXx)::*~=-#
Kagome enjoyed her time at home, but felt relief as InuYasha picked her up and jumpedinto the well. She was sure that her grandpa would think of some kind of sickness to
explain her inability to go out on that date with Hojo.
She didn't really want to hurt the his feelings, but Hojo just wouldn't get a clue or take a
hint. She didn't want to, but she was sure that she would have to tell him to his face that
she wasn't interested in him.
"Oh cheer up InuYasha. It couldn't have been that bad," Kagome said as InuYasha sat
her on her feet just outside of the well.
"Keh. Crazy old man. Next time I see him I'll use Tetsusaiga to..."
"My grandpa is not crazy and you won't use Tetsusaiga to do anything to him."
"Well he shouldn't have put duck tape all over my sword and then hide it from me."
"Grandpa just thought that a demon sword in a holy shrine was a bad omen. You can't
blame him."
"The hell I can't! He's seen my sword in the shrine many times! Why choose to do it
now?!"
"InuYasha. We really have to talk about your temper."
"Keh."
"Kagome!" Shippo said as he launched himself into Kagome's arms.
"Shippo!" Kagome said as she struggled for balance after almost being knocked over by
the kitsune. "Aren't you getting a little big to be doing that?"
"Sorry. Did you bring me some pocky again?!"
"Yep." She took the box of pocky out of her bag and handed it to him.
"Yes. These are the ones. Thanks Kagome!"
And with that, Shippo ran off towards the village.
They walked back to the village in silence. Every time Kagome looked at InuYasha, his
eyebrows were drawn together and his face creased with concentration.
'He's wondering how he can get the book away from Sesshomaru,' Kagome realized.
"InuYasha?" Kagome said as they reached the village.
"What?" he snapped.
"Um...Don't worry about it. You'll be able to get the book."
"Keh. Who says that I'm worried?"
"The look on your face."
"Your delirious. I ain't never been worried, wench."
"Whatever."
But something was worrying him. Sure, he didn't want to turn into a blood thirsty demon,
but that wasn't the thing that was worrying him. What had been on his mind was the
dream he recently had about his mother.
'Why did I dream about her again after all these years? Why now? Does it have
something to do with what Myoga said?'
He could still hear her words in his head. 'And bring her, too, when the time is right.'
She wanted him to bring Kagome with him to her grave? But why? And when would be
the right time?
InuYasha looked towards the forest once they were were at the village. He smelled
a youkai near. He could go right then and cut the demon down, but he decided against it,
reasoning with himself that he'd take care of the demon if it attempted to attack the
village.
They reached Kaede's hut only to find that Kaede was doing much better than she had
when they left. They discussed the matter at hand and decided that only InuYasha and
Kagome should travel to Sesshomaru's castle, but they'd all travel together once the
book was retrieved.
It was decided that they would leave in the morning.

Hitomi smield wickedly as she pressed her hand against Goshinboku. It told her theabout the hanyou, the half demon InuYasha. About how he lost his heart to a mortal and
ended up pinned to the tree. And about how a young miko freed him. It told her
other things, every little thing about InuYasha she needed to know. Hitomi left the tree
and walked to the edge of the forest, watching as InuYasha and a girl neared a village.
He knew she was there and she knew it. Hitomi gasped as she saw the girl who was
with him. Just one look at the girl told her that there was no doubt that she was in fact
a Higurashi.
She had completed her mission. Her master would be pleased. She wondered if
Katami was doing just as well on her mission as she was. She left to tell her master what
she had found out. Hitomi rose up into the air and began to fly. It had been so long since
she had been free to feel the wind on her face. Nature. This was her ally. Nature was
her friend. They would talk to her. The trees, leaves, creatures of nature. That was how
she always retrieved her information.
She thought back to when she was but a child. Craving the attention that nobody would
give her, the attention that had always belonged to her older sister. That was what had
eventually driven her to joining forces with Kurosuke. He was the same as her, wanting
what he couldn't have, what was given to his older sibling.
He understood her and gave her the attention that she had always been deprived of.
The trees whispered to her as she soared through the air. 'She has returned. She has
been set free.'
Hitomi frowned. If this was to be true, then her sister was back. But maybe this would be
the perfect opportunity to get rid of her, the one who made her life a living hell.
Yes. She would have her time soon enough.

Ichimori looked through the trees and saw the womans form pass by. She must havebeen too lost in her thoughts to notice her presence. That was good. She didn't want
to deal with her yet.
Where had she gone wrong? She had failed the little girl who had always looked up to
her. But at some point, that girls admiration turned to jealousy, envy. Ichimori never
wanted all of the attention, but she had always been stuck with it. She remembered
The day her younger sister left, declaring that she had found somebody who understood
her. She remembered the day she left to join Kurosuke. She wished that her sister had
allowed her to explain herself, to tell her how she never wanted to be the center of
attention. But every time she tried, the stubborn girl refused to listen.
'Hitomi,' Ichimori thought as she stopped her journey for the rest of the day. 'Will you try
to finish that which you started, little sister?'
If Hitomi truly wished to do this, then Ichimori would be ready.

told him that somebody wished for entry. But who would be out in the middle of
the night during a terrible thunderstorm such as this?
He immediately left the shelter of his home to venture out into the
storm. Kyo opened one of the shrine doors and cam face to face with a young
woman. Her beauty astounded him. Though drenched from head to toe, he
could see that her beauty was unparalled.

her arms around Kyo.
