Chapter 4
“Kikio Himura?” InuYasha looked at the nurse at the front desk. She looked up,
“OH! Her! Poor girl, follow me.” She got out of her chair and led the four up to the third level where the suicide victims stayed if they were recessitated. She opened a door at the end of the hall, `265', and led the group inside. The nurse checked Kikio's stats, monitors and such, and then left the room. The group approuched the bed and was shocked when Kenshin whipped around and glared at InuYasha,
“You. Leave. Now.” Kaoru, Kagome, Sango, and Miroku gasped. Kaoru looked at her husband,
“Kenshin! It's not his fault.” Kenshin growled,
“But it's his brother's fault. He's fucking related to the guy that fucking made my baby sister attempt suicide!” Kaoru laid a hand on her husband's shoulder,
“Settle down Kenshin. Why don't you and Yahiko take Kenji to get something to eat.” Kenshin nodded and got up taking Yahiko, out the door with him. Kikio's friends approuched the bed,
“What happened?” Kaory glared at Miroku,
“What happened?! WHAT HAPPENED! She tried to commit suicide. After she left the club Kenshin went to go see her, we were there, considering we had to pick up Yahiko, and found her looking like hell and reaking of alcohol. She was really drunk and had a bad hangover. He left and went to get groceries and me, Yahiko and Kenji, and we got back to her apartment and found it snowing feathers. Kenshin took Kikio to her room and Yahiko went and sat in with her. He came back a while later and told us that she told him she wanted to die. While he was gone she drank a whole bottle of whiskey and emptied a whole bottle of asprin.” Kagome and Sango sat at Kikio's bedside watching her chest rise and listening to the monitors beep. InuYasha snarled,
“SO you mean to say that because of my ass of a brother she wanted to die.” Kaoru nodded,
“I guess it was something he said to her at the club.” InuYasha nodded,
“Miroku, wait for the girls and take them home. Or bring Kagome to my place, I don't care. I'm going home and then I gotta go to my parent's for dinner. See ya.” He got up and left the hospital room.
InuYasha drove into his parent's long driveway. He parked his car and got out walking up to the door. He opened it and walked in ignoring the butler that was standing at the door. He walked into the study where his parent's and brother sat. He walked up to Sesshoumaru and grabbed him by the collar shoving him against the wall, “I'm going to kill you, basterd.” His mother got up,
“InuYasha!!! Put your brother down, right now.” InuYasha growled,
“Stay out of this mother. Do you know where I've just been?!” Sesshoumaru shrugged,
“I could care less, but my curiosity has been peaked so tell me.” InuYasha growled and punched his brother in the stomach,
“Smart ass. I was in the freakin hospital talking to your ex-best friend's brother about how she tried to commit suicide!” His parent's gasped.
“Kikio? NO, she wouldn't have. Oh! Taisho we shouldn't have put Sesshoumaru in that class just because you wanted him to have the same skills as you and I. Now look what you've done.” InuYasha threw his brother to the other side of the room, making him knock down the door,
“It wasn't you mother, is was that basterd on the floor over there. Ever since he started dating Kagura she's been dieing from the inside out. She's been in love with him since kindergarten. Before she even knew.” Taisho smiled,
“you would know this?” InuYasha smirked,
“Her brother, he tells me everything I want to know. I could even tell you her first words if you like.” His mother smiled,
“You really are like another big brother to her.” InuYasha blushed and then snarled as his brother came walking back into the study,
“Listen, Sesshoumaru, it is your fucking fault that she's lying in a hospital bed having her stomach pumped! You gotta do something…she loves you.” He growled at himself for admitting one of his best friends' secrets. The boys' mother looked at Sesshoumaru and then to InuYasha,
“Is this true, this better not be to spite your brother?” InuYasha nodded sadly,
“Hai, okaa-san, it is.” His mother glared at his older brother,
“SESSHOUMARU!!!!” Sesshoumaru winced a bit,
“Yes, mother?”
“How long have you hated this girl?”
“Since senior year.”
“Because?”
“Kagura.”
“Why?”
“Kikio told me that I had become too stuck up to hang out with her anymore…but come to think of it…she smelled a bit off.” InuYasha growled,
“She was a bit `off' Kagura's brother, Naraku, had cast a controlling spell on her, so that she wouldn't get in Kagura's way. But she ended up dieing, didn't she Sesshoumaru?” He growled,
“Uresei, shi ne.” Taisho watched the two brothers fight,
“Sesshoumaru, I suggest you try and make up with Kikio…she was such a nice girl…unless you want her death to be on your concionce forever.” Sesshoumaru growled at his father,
“She's not dead, yet.” Taisho smirked,
“Yet is the key word, my son. She'll try it again I garentee you.” Sesshoumaru sighed and grabbed his jacket,
“Forget this, I'll see you all next week…I just hope you aren't here, InuYasha.” InuYasha flipped him the bird and winced as his mother wacked him with a book, upside the head.
“InuYasha!” She glared daggers at him and InuYasha whimpered,
“Sorry mom.” She smiled and then led the two men into the kitchen,
“Let's eat.” The two men immediately dug in.
~kikio's POV~
I opened my eyes and noticed it was white, I looked around thinking I was dead but then I caught sight of red, I looked down and saw my brother sleeping next to my bed. I smiled and stroked his soft hair, mindful of waking him up. I looked around and growled to myself, “Chukisho, I'm not dead.” Yahiko came out of the bathroom with Kenji and smiled at the sight of his sister in law,
“WE're glad you're not dead.” Kaoru walked in the room with some food. Yahiko looked to his older sister, “Should we tell her?” Kaoru nodded,
“we have to.” I looked between the two,
“What?!” Yahiko clenched his jaw,
“Sesshoumaru was here.” I snarled,
“WHAT!!!!” Kenshin jolted awake and crushed me with a giant bear hug, “Kenshin. I. Can't. breath.” He let go of me and smiled. I rolled her eyes and looked around, “I wanna leave.” Kenshin noded,
“I'll page the nurse.”

After a few hours, Kikio was returned home to her apartment. She had to take some medicine and her brother was meant to call her everyday to make sure she was alright.
A few months later and got dressed in a pair of Khaki pants and a red button up shirt. She grabbed her keys, breifcase, pruse, and dance bag and walked down to her car. She got in and drove to work. She got out of her car and walked to her office.
“Hey Kikio, you've got something in your office for you.” Kikio nodded grabbing her mail on the way up.
“Hey Kanna, any messages for me?” Kanna looked up,
“Nope. You've got some stuff in your office though.” Kikio nodded again and opened her door, only to gasp as she noticed the various arrangments of Tiger Lilies and Sakura clippings and a bunch of chocolate. She walked up to the arrangement on the desk and found a card. `Kikio, meet me at the resturaunt down the street at lunch. -Sesshoumaru' she gasped and then sat on her couch. `he-he can't!' She took the vase off of her desk and set it ontop of her sterio and got to work.
At lunch she grabbed her wallet ,put it in her back pocket and walked out of her office leaving a note on Kanna's desk on the way out. She walked down the street to the small resturant down the street and walked in. She spotted his silvery hair as she entered the café and walked towards the table. She waited for the man to acknowledge her, “Sit.” And sit she did.
“Why the hell did you ask me here?” Sesshoumaru watched as the hanyou before him glared. “After four years of waiting to forget you, you all of a sudden waltz right back into my life, convieniantly, just as I was getting over you.” A tear slipped down her cheek. Sesshoumaru sighed,
“I had an argument with InuYasha after he saw you in the hospital. He said something about you and the way you felt about me.” Kikio gasped a hand creeping to her mouth,
“He didn't?” Sesshoumaru nodded,
“He did.” Kikio sighed, and made to get up,
“He shouldn't of told you but I guess it was better that he did instead of me.” She dropped a twenty on the table and started towards the door. Sesshoumaru placed a check on the table, grabbed the twenty, and ran off after Kikio.
“Kikio! Matte chotto!” Kikio stopped as she neared a park bench near a small lake. Sesshoumaru caught up to her. She looked at him over her shoulder.
“Nani.” She stated icily. Sesshoumaru sat next to her.
“I want to start over. Become friends again.” He ran a hand through his hair. Kikio whipped around.
“Why?! Just cos your precious Kagura is dead and gone?!” She glared at him, “I loved you Sesshoumaru, dammit, it killed me to let you go, but I did because I knew you only cared for me as a sister.” Sesshoumaru turned to face her completely.
“Do you still love me?” he whispered shakily. Kikio looked away.
“I'm not really sure anymore.” She whispered. Sesshoumaru watched her wide eyed as she got up and headed back to InuYasha's company building. Sesshoumaru stood up,
“I'll see you at class?” Kikio looked back and smiled sadly,
“Yes. Good afternoon, Mr. Takahashi.” Sesshoumaru swore and walked off back to his building.
Kikio parked in her spot and walked into the dance studio's office. She set her stuff down and changed, after locking all the doors. She pulled on a big sweater and unlocked the doors as she waited for the coffee to be ready. She poured herself a cup and grabbed her stuff heading for a room in the corner of the studio. “I thought you would be here.” She looked up to find Sesshoumaru leaning, casually, against the back wall, against the barre. Kikio gasped and set her coffee down,
“What do you want from me, Sesshoumaru?” Sesshoumaru began walking toward her, and with each step she took two steps back.
“I want you, Kikio. I want us to start over be friends again, maybe even more.” He stared at the girl, infront of him, intensly. She soon found herself drowning in the pools of Amber which she loved so much. “Please Kikio.” His voice cracked and turned into a whisper. Kikio sighed and looked away, picking her coffee back up and taking a sip.
“I'll think about it, Sesshoumaru, I'll think about it.” She smiled weakly at him as she picked up her bag. She walked into the changing room to change, to come back out a few minutes later fully changed. Sesshoumaru couldn't help but notice, all the years she had been dancing had helped her figure from the first time he met her, in seventh grade.
~Sesshoumaru's POV~
I remember when InuYasha first brough Kikio to our house. Him, Kagome, Sango, and Miroku were doing a project and their group had been added a member. A short, kinda plump, hanyou. She was almost shorter than Souta, Kagome's little brother, and he was kinda short for his age. After that Kikio and I became pretty good friends. Freshman year of Highschool we were best friends and she began getting taller and skinnier. I asked her about it and she got all happy explaining that she had started ballet and Karate. Kind of a weird combo, if you ask me, but Kikio was an interesting girl. She liked some girly stuff yet she refuesed to wear pink. The closesed you would get to pink was her ballet outfits and that was it.
Sophmore year a new girl started school, her name was Kagura. She had a younger sister, Kanna, and an older brother, Naraku. From the first time I set eyes on Kagura I was in love. I told Kikio and she was so happy for me, giggling about, `Sessy's first crush', we ended up having a little sparing match and she won, like normal. By Junior year Kikio had offers for a date from almost every guy in the school, yet even if they were on the football team or she thought they were good looking she would turn them down saying something about she already liked someone. I could never get it outta her. Junior prom, she was beautiful, we went together as friends, though she had a lot of offers, as did I. She almost took my brother but as it turned out he had plans that night with Kagome. Kikio didn't mind. She had a wonderful time, and by the end of the night. I was looking at her differently. `She's your best friend, dammit!' I kept telling myself, but my eyes kept wandering to ass and her chest, she was really really sexy that night. But the next day when I turned up at her house, she was in sweats and a tee shirt, of her brothers that he had given her, she was back to being my best friend. She smiled at me and all thoughts of her being sexy and hott, had left my mind.
Senior year, a few weeks before Spring Break Kagura walked up to me and asked me on a date. We had set it up for that Saturday at six, we would go to dinner and then go see the show our school was putting on. I got home and immediately called Kikio telling her the good news. She was so happy. That Saturday dinner was great and we walked to the school and got good seats. I excused myself and went backstage to look for the star of the show, Kikio. She was in her chair getting her hair and makeup done. She smiled and kissed me on the cheek before she looked at the clock, cursing and then saying goodbye to me before she ran off into the back room to change into her costume.
A few days later Kikio stormed up to me. She smelled sick and her eyes were puffy, she looked really really bad. She slapped me and told me I was too stuck up to hang around with her and she didn't want to be seen with a ass hole like me. She walked out of my life. I couldn't help but wonder why she wasn't at school for the next two months. But then I remembered all she had was choir and drama, she had passed all her classes and gotten all her credits. But even then there was something wrong.
I looked for her at Kagura's funeral, hopping maybe she would be there, begging me to take her back. But she wasn't. I was pissed at the world. Now I had a two year old daughter to take care of. And Kagura had left me. So I holed myself up in my office, while Rin was sleeping or at daycare, wether at work or at home.
~end~
Kikio noticed Sesshoumaru staring at her with a far off look in his eye. “Sesshoumaru, you ok?” He snapped out of his daze and nodded, blushing slightly. Kikio looked at her schedule, “Dammit, I forgot I didn't have classes today, it's Friday.” She looked at Sesshoumaru, “Then why are you here?” Sesshoumaru smirked,
“I was hopping to get a lesson or two.” Kikio nodded and pointed to the changing room door,
“Go.”
Sesshoumaru came back dressed in a pair of shorts and tee shirt. Kikio smiled, “Don't like tights, huh?” Sesshoumaru shook his head,
“No way in hell.” Kikio giggled slightly and looked around,
“Why don't we go to my place and do this. That way the other teachers can use this room, go get dressed.” Sesshoumaru nodded and growled heading back into the changing room. Kikio found herself staring at his butt, `He's gotta pretty nice ass.' She shook her head clear of thoughts and grabbed her stuff and waited for Sesshoumaru to come back out. He came back out and they walked to her car, both getting in, and driving off to Kikio's apartment.
She flipped on the lights and put her keys on the counter, “You can put your stuff on the couch and the bathroom is down the hall to the right.” She opened the pantry door and stepped inside closing it behind her. She slid against it until she was laying against it. Hugging her knees she looked up at the ramen. “What do I do?” she whispered. She chuckled to herself, “I'm going crazy, I should turn myself in at the local asylum, that's what I should do.”
“Kikio?” Kikio gripped the broom, `Shit'. She straighted out and made herself presentable.
“Be right there. I'm in my room. Did you see the door near the bathroom?” she yelled through the door. She heard Sesshoumaru's reply, “Go in there, I'll be there in a sec.” Sesshoumaru replied and wondered why her voice seemed to be coming from the kitchen but shook his head, walking back down the hall. Kikio walked out of the pantry, after grabbing some water bottles and walked into the room at the end of the hall.
She gasped and dropped the water bottles as she entered the room. Sesshoumaru was in a pair of shorts but wasn't wearing a shirt. “Dammit!” Sesshoumaru turned around and grabbed his shirt,
“What?” Kikio picked up the water bottles,
“Stubed my toe. I would also appreciate it if my students would refrain from stripping while I'm teaching them.” She gasped as Sesshoumaru dissapeared from infront of her, to behind her, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“But you enjoy it don't you.” He whispered into her ear. She pulled away.
“No! Anyway, you're the first.” Sesshoumaru growled,
“And I better be the last.” Kikio's knees weakened slightly and she slipped away to the barre,
“Stretch, or I'm going to add more pay to your bill.” He growled at her and sat on the floor stretching. She walked to the barre and did some stretches too.
About two hours later the pair were looking out the window watching the sky. Kikio looked over, “Hungry.” Sesshoumaru grunted a bit before he turned around and looked at Kikio. He soon found himself inching towards her. Kikio paniced, `He's gonna kiss me! Oh shit!!!' All thoughts went away though as his lips brushed lightly over hers. She touched her lips as she blushed and looked away. She looked back up and smiled slightly before grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling him down again for another kiss. She pulled away and looked away blushing slightly, “Sorry. I'll be in the living room when you get finished changing. I'll take you back to the studio for your car.” She started towards the door but never made it.
Sesshoumaru grabbed her arm and spun her arm, bringing her towards his chest. “Don't go.” He whispered. `Shit…now I've gone and done it…gone and fallen in love with her.' “Don't go.” He leaned down and kissed her tenderly. She kissed back, before pulling away slightly, stopping to nibble on his lower lip. She pulled away before trying to leave the room. Sesshoumaru kept his hold, tight, on her. “I want to try a relationship, please?” he whispered into her ear. She shivered and turned around glaring at him.
“You think a few kisses will make it better?!” she yelled, “well I got news for you Sesshoumaru Takahashi, they won't! `Maybe if you kiss me a bit more' WE can try but I can't garentee anything. One wrong move and I will seriously consider moving half way across the damn globe so I can start over again.” He flinched at the tone of her voice but nodded.
“Fine you win. We'll try. And I'll try to be a good boy.” He smiled sheepishly. Kikio walked towards him,
“Good now come here.” She grabbed his shirt and pulled him down for another kiss.
