He was shattered. Beyond all reasoning that went through his mind. Even as he acted coherently and talked bluntly in his usual tone to Sango, Miroku and Shippo as he left the village, he was undone. His inner being torn to pieces as he stated what had become of Kagome. He watches and listened as each of his former comrades destroyed what was left of his pride.

He would have felt anger, had they not been right. “Bastard.” “Lowlife.” “Scum.” He'd heard the terms spoken many of times but now he cried silent tears as they fell to the ground beneath his feet. Eye dull and unfeeling. What was the point of bringing her back only to have her run away with his heart again? She deserved it. More so than Kikyo deserved to. He silently cursed the miko, a trigger in his problems.

Seeing Kikyo and him together nary helped. Nor would it help if he got her back. The jewel spoke again.
“Go to the Goshinbu.” “I'm going already.” He landed at the base of the large oak. What was it that made his body go cold at the site of this thing? The fact that he'd been dead on this very same wood for 50 years? No. There was something else. He heard a sharp cry from the branches above him.

He leapt to find a young toddler inside the thick leaves. Her body dwarfed by his size. Inuyasha looked at her musingly, to realize that her beauty was caused by a long quaff of hair and that the child was actually male. “Who are you?” The hanyou spoke. Turning his gaze on the taller male the young boy held out his palm.
“My name is Heiwa.” His light blue eyes contrasted with his tan colored skin but all that made his long silver hair stand out. More over the two dog ears on top his head. “You have come here do to mother's passing have you not?” Inuyasha nodded.

The youth, who had to be no more than 3, jumped down from the tree. “I see. So you are my father. Inuyasha the hanyou.” Heiwa's eyes downcast for a moment. Inuyasha could see the young child near tears. “Then I will follow as she commanded.” Touching the tree with his palm, Heiwa watched as the bark split open and blood seeped forth. Inuyasha's first reaction was to jump back to evade the blood. As it poured, he looked on as the tree opened.

“We must go search for her.” It was moist and hot where the tree opened and mist seeped forth from its mouth. “Where is this?” The boy grasped his father's hand. The outfit he wore similar to Inuyasha's except black. “The dark forest of hell.”

Inuyasha had only seen his son for that few moments before being hurled into the depths of hell. For what is was worth at least the boy had no malice towards him.
“Soon there will come three beasts and they will confront. If you are deemed worthy you will pass through hell unharmed. If not then you will be trapped within its layers.”

Inuyasha nodded. Anything to save Kagome. A large wolf came upon them then. Her face that of a woman's and her body the form of a wolf. Her stance cold and wrenching. She looked at the hanyou and slid his spawn to the side.
“Aye, Inuyasha. For you we were not expecting for at least another 200 or so years.” She mocked coldly her face showing no signs of amusement.

“Here to save one that is lost that he is.” Heiwa spoke behind her thrashing tail. “Ah…. The pure one.”
Moving to touch her muzzle to his cheek she pulled from his memory a thought which he knew he would surely burn for all eternity for.
“You are a killer I see.”
He nodded, finding it best not try to lie. Although he knew it to be futile in this case. Her tail whipped as she prowled around him. Her gray eyes piercing his very soul. “But more I see….”
Flashes of past battles flew threw his mind. “To….protect.” Another flash of jumbling images. “To…serve.” Again they flew through his mind. “To….love.”

The she-wolf looked displeased as she let him out of her trance. Nary did he stumble as his feet grew heavy and lead ridden. “Virgil I see that you have given this one a blessing although you had none.”
Heiwa stepped forward, “I gave him no blessing Todamei. He is only pure enough to pass.”

She rose her black head and howled loudly causing the forest to quake with fear and tremble with overwhelming discourse. More was to come. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

AN: My first cliffhanger. If you read the book you're probably wondering where the other two are and what I am doing. Be patient with me. This is anime. It can't all be like depraved lonely people in the romantic period.
