(Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha)
Inuyasha's stomach churned violently as the smell death and sin assaulted his nose. Heiwa twitched in his arms. A ball of dark aura moved from the frail child's body as a tall lanky male appeared His eyes were as dark as oil and his hair was a fair shade of gray. He looked not old, yet a mere male younger than Inuyasha's features. His attire was a black robe that seemed to flow with the night itself.
“You must be Virgil.” “That I am, but here I am only a soul deprived of eternal peace.” Nodding, the hanyou ran a clawed hand over Heiwa's head. He was so small and weak, the male realized. Virgil coughed. “If we plan to ride over the Styx we must leave now.” “Sticks?” Sighing Virgil made a gesture to make the inu-hanyou walk with him.
Inuyasha's eyes couldn't help to wander over the triubune of lost souls that lay scattered over the hot desert like land. Arid and dry it seemed as if nothing could thrive here more than a few hours. He licked his lips and noticed how dry they were. Heiwa groaned in his slumber, sweat dripping down his pale face.
“The Styx is the river that leads us into the City of Dis. It's the next city beyond Purgatory. The only souls here are one's blind to the power spirit world.” Inu blinked. “You mean those who don't believe in Kami?”
“Precisely. Although some of us are stuck here leading souls like you through these horrid circles of hell.”
Virgil snapped.
“Ah.” “Momma….wait…..” Heiwa batted at Inuyasha's chest with tiny clenched fists. “Don't leave me again…” Virgil glanced back. “Quietis parum unus. Vos imperium vestri aura quod servo vestri prosapia.” Virgil waved a long delicate hand over Heiwa. Latin rolling off his tongue like liquid mercury. The boy's mouth opened. “Ego must servo.”
“Yes, that is right.” Heiwa fell back into a deep sleep. Fingers clutching his father's haori. “What did you say to him?” Inuyasha bit out. “Nothing that concerns you.” “He is my son….whatever…” “Calm yourself. People and anger award themselves hell.” “Inuyasha!!!” The hanyou's face snapped towards a river boat upon icy water. “Styx.”
Virgil grasped Inuyasha's hand but the half demon's eyes were glued to the figure clinging to the boat for dear life. “Kagome.” The ship hand tried to pry the woman off with an oar. His mannerisms short and choppy like a mechanical arm. “Be gone with ye wench!”
Inuyasha set Heiwa down on the river bed and proceeded to run out into the turgid water “No Inuyasha. This thing you must not do. The water itself is a sea of souls kept there by the silent hatred they held for someone dear or someone close to them. If you want her back lead your child onto the boat and I will aid you.” The pacifist spoke almost monotonely.
“Ego must servo.” Heiwa mouthed again as his head lay on Inuyasha's lap aboard the small boat. “Merinos! Drive the boat out to sea, there is one soul who should not be in the water.” The boatman's face turned into confusion like a snake writhing through a murky mud pile stuck on half truths and lies. “How is this?” “Never mind that. We have but little time to waste.”
“Uhnnnn…..” Hands like transparent sheets grasped the boat. The oars beating at them gracefully sliping they're hands from the sides. “Do you see her?” Virgil asked Inuyasha, who had his son pressed to his chest. Her beating madly like a wild animal caged. “Inuyasha….” A silk hand touched his. The male turned his face to the sheer beauty.
“Ego must servo!” The succubus was tossed back into the sea her lips coated with venom. “Be forewarned that some of these souls will trick you. Only one is Kagome.” The orb of light that permeated little Heiwa's chest ebbed back into his body. “Ego must servo…”
“Please….please help me…..Inuyasha…..” He knew that voice, even beyond the depths of hell he could never mistake that gleam of devious desire in her eyes. Kagome's soul floated next to the boat Her hand gently caressing Heiwa's hair.
“Kagome…” He lifted her limp body onto the boat. “Can we turn this thing around….I would like to get home.” Virgil shook his head. “We have 8 other circles to pass before we can go back. I will lead you there, but alone you will not get far.”

AN: I will have pics up for character designs. Virgil, I will plan for him to be the next one I draw. Fanart contains the pic for Heiwa. Now, let me be blunt. Heiwa looks and talks older than he is because it is said that demons age faster than humans. So there.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Forgive me. I couldn't help myself ^__^ There will be a lemon in later chapters or else this wouldn't be rated M.
