No sooner did those words leave her mouth his world shattered completely. His very livelihood snatched by the same hands he so betrayed.

“I am sorry for what I have done…but Kagome…”

Her eyes shot a cold glare. “It is Lady Kagome to you Inuyasha.” He knew that tone, it was the same one Kikyo used before she shot the arrow that sealed his fate. But this hurt far worse than any sacred arrow could.

 

The discolored water lapped at the shore as an eerie silence split between the ex-lovers. Energy crackled as the miko's body began to slowly reject the mating mark on her neck, Inuyasha clutched at his heart as he began to feel a piece of him rip. Ebony locks billowed around her as dog ears began to shrink and human ones replace them.

 

“What….is this….” He choked as he fell to the ground. The product of your mistakes… The voice of Inu-youkai answered, red speckled his vision. Kagome eyed his show of agony with a questionable stare. “What's happening to Daddy?” Heiwa stepped forward and lurched, his body shaking.

 

Aura crackled again as the mark began to throb. Frantically the miko looked to Virgil. The pagan was quietly sitting on a rock roasting some sort of animal with the lashes of her energy. “What's happening to them?!” Poking thoughtfully at the meat the male bite a piece off wincing at the taste. “In light of you rejecting your mate,” He swallowed another bite, “Your energy is killing your son and him from the inside out…like a balloon or a water bag, if you fill it up to a certain point…” “It'll pop.” Kagome finished looking from son to mate.

 

The winds picked up as a small ferry arrived on the shore. The family loaded upon it, writhing in pain just as the souls in the murky water. Feelings eerily strange and unknown began to harbor in the priestess, feelings of hate, wrath and anguish towards the man she once loved. Angry hands shook the boat, curses hurled through the air causing it to billow with dirt colored smoke.

 

“Ka…gome…” Amber eyes twined with purple and red swirled and looked at her with longing. “All three…” He reached out a hand, voice broken as not one but three tones uttered forth. “Kagome….please…” The boat shook harder as her energy surged, Heiwa lurched again, eyes rolling to the back of his head. “NO!” The water stilled as Kagome's aura returned, eyes moving to the slitted blue and dog ears reappearing.

 

Virgil sighed. “So much for a good show. The sea of the wrathful has that effect on some people.” He looked over to the woman who was gently rocking both husband and child in her bosom.

 

“Tis a sad day in hell when those like they can find peace within these depths.”
