First let me say thanks for reviewing this chapter. I've been working on the errors you've have stated and the chapter wasn't really rushed. It's just I just type and if the Spell check and such doesn't show my errors then when I go over it. I feel nothing is wrong and I also miss things. Actually I no longer have a beta because she didn't beta the chapter for weeks. So please excuse any grammar or punctuation.

Chapter Eighteen - Ill- fated Mate

Kagome's Point Of View

I heard her scream, Kikyo's scream. Since I can remember Kikyo has never screamed before in her life. She hates to voice pain. I run up the stairs faster and I reach a room and pull out my gun. This room must be where all the files are because I see three rows of file cabinets. I hear a buzz in my ear piece and then Ayame's voice shoots into my ear.

“I'm going to get Kikyo, I've already gotten Kiku.”

“Okay, I'll be there shortly.” I say into the microphone that's pinned on my shirt. I look at the file cabinet that says “Sesshomaru.” I open the file and I see Sango's name with Ayame's and my own. I pull out my file.

Name: Kagome Higurashi

Age when attacked: 15

Attacked at: The Higurashi Shrine, Tokyo

Attacked for: Last of the Shikon Miko's,

Family: Kikyo- Last Name Invalid

Currently: An assassin for Sesshomaru

Level: Second Command.

Current Age: 20

I pull out Sango's file next

Name: Sango -last name invalid

Age when attacked: 16

Attacked at: Naraku's home, Osaka

Attacked for: Plans to stop Naraku, disloyal, Taijiya, broke youkai rules.

Family: Invalid.

Currently: An assassin for Sesshomaru

Level: First Command.

Current age: 22

Name: Ayame Takashi - Maiden Name Unknown

Age when attacked: 13

Attacked at: 1968 Mushin Street, Hiroshima

Attacked for: Last of the Lunar Wolves, holder of the Shikon no tama, knowledge of the prophecy.

Family: Kiku Takashi

Currently: An assassin for Sesshomaru

Level: Last in command.

So that's how Naraku got the Shikon, when he attacked Ayame he took it from her. And Ayame's a lunar? What prophecy? I connect with Sesshomaru.

“Sesshomaru ask Ayame about a prophecy.”

“What do you mean?” his monotone voice rings out.

“Just do it.” I disconnect when I feel InuYasha's presence. I turn around and there he is. I shoot my gun and he drops and pulls my legs out from under me. I fall on my ass and I go to purify him but he jumps up behind me and I lose my focus. Damn he pins me to the floor and I struggle to break free. I kick him in the chest and push him off of me. I shoot another bullet and this time it hits his arm.

“Fuck Kagome!” the blood that drips off of his arm makes me sick. I mean really sick I drop to my knees and vomit behind a desk.

“What's wrong…with you?” InuYasha moves to my side and I jump up and point the gun at him.

“Get away from me.” he does but only to lock the door then he looks at me and sighs.

“I'm no longer on Naraku's side. I, Kagura, Kouga, and Miroku are breaching Naraku's contract.” I spit to get the taste of bile out my mouth although I don't lower my gun.

“Why?” InuYasha narrows his eyes at me as if I should know. To bad I don't have a clue.

“Did you know Kagome, that Youkai can sense their mates? It's because we are all reborn and as youkai we can sense our mates from the past even though we don't remember our past lives.”

“What do you take me for? Of course I know that!” Being a Miko takes a lot more work then just having spiritual powers.

InuYasha gets up and grabs my gun and places it on the desk. Me being too tired to fight, I slump to the floor.

“What I'm saying woman is that I sense that you're my mate. And even if you weren't I still would want you as my mate. It's up to you whether you want this or not.” I look up at him surprised. My heart is pounding in my ears.

“Of course I want it. But do you forgive me?” I ask him, who want to be with a woman who tired to kill you?

“I'm not going to lie to you, it's going to take time but I'm willing.”

He smirks down at me, that arrogant smirk of his, I love it.

Sango's Point Of View

I wake up in a room where there is a big oak wood table. I `m strapped to a chair. What the hell? I try to break my bounds but it's futile. Miroku comes out a door with a purple cloth tied with prayer beads around his hand to his wrist.

I did that.

“You know Sango, you shouldn't be so rough. Besides I work for Sesshomaru now so theoretically you attacked one of your own comrades. Does Sesshomaru punish you for that? I would.” There is a twinkle in his eyes despite that there is a hole in his hand.

“You are?” I ignore his lewd comments. His prior words have me enticed. He brings his face closer to mine. I think he is going to kiss me but instead he unties my wrists.

“Yes, after all there is no way I can kill you.” Miroku sighs and sits down next to me.

“Miroku…?” I call his name hesitantly, after all my next words are ones I haven't uttered to a man since I was sixteen.

“Yes Sango.” He reaches out to grab my hand and I take comfort from it.

“I love you.” Not even a second passes and it delights me when he speaks next.

“I love you too.”

I blush a little and stop holding my breath

Ayame walked into the room where Kikyo was. Together with Kouga and herself they cleared the room although Kikyo was anesthetized. Kouga picked her up and made sure to be careful of her wounds.

“Sesshomaru can you hear me?” there was a bit static before Ayame could hear his reply.

“Speak.”

“Kiku and Kikyo are safe; Naraku's assassins wish to help us.” Ayame waited for his reply.

“It could be a trap.” Ayame sighed.

“It isn't, I've made sure of that.”

“If anything were to go wrong it would be your fault. Since you've have done your part along with getting Kikyo you may return back to base with the girls and your in change to I arrive.”

“I can't just leave.”

“You can and will, we need someone there to protect the wounded. Rin and Shippo need help.” Ayame nodded even though she knew he couldn't see her.

“I hope you return safe my lord.” There was a mute minute before Sesshomaru spoke again.

“You take care also Aya.” Ayame smiled then turned to Kouga.

“Let's go.”

Sango and Miroku loaded up on guns and weapons before heading out of the boardroom.

“Miroku where is Naraku?” He hesitated at first but then sighed; he knew he could not keep her away from his former boss.

“Sango, I have to help other people and I cannot appear with you when you enter the room Naraku vacates. I want you to promise me that you'll be safe.” Sango took off her platinum ring that held her sworn alliance with Sesshomaru. She placed the ring in Miroku's hand.

“I promise till then hold this to the next time I see you.” He grabbed the ring and put in on his chain. InuYasha also wears Kagome's ring around his neck. Miroku examined the ring.

Sango Taijiya 368 lead command USEP

“What does USEP mean?” Miroku asked her.

“It's a tracking device that means Under Sesshomaru's Elite Protection.” Miroku raised an eyebrow.

“Kagome doesn't have that.” Sango grabbed two guns off the table.

“Kagome situation dose not require her to need one, she doesn't have to be on call at all times like me and Kikyo.” Sango tip toed and gave Miroku a light kiss.

“Be safe.” With that she walked out. She followed Miroku's directions and now she stood before the door that Naraku was in. She breathed in and twisted the handle to the door. It was the only door on this floor.

She pressed open the door.

“Hello Mate.”

“Shit!” Kagome cursed into the crowd and killed another one of Naraku's men. InuYasha looked over to Kagome to see her holding her ear. InuYasha snapped another Youkai's neck.

“What's wrong?” he asked her and Kagome gave him the most forlorn look he ever seen.

“I lost connection with Sango.” He finished the last youkai off and now the fourth floor was cleared.

“Try to contact Ayame and see if she has connection.” Kagome nodded

“347 where are you?”

“I'm at base taking care of Kikyo and the other wounded. What's wrong?” Kagome was relived to hear that her cousin was okay.

“I've lost contact with the director, do you still have contact?” Ayame looked at her hip and pressed a magenta button on the small compact. She waited for the beep to switch her over to Sango but nothing came up, her number flashed then went off.

“368 is no longer there only your number 164 and mine 347.” Kagome shook her head `no' at InuYasha when he mouthed `Contact?'

“Okay locate her USEP if you don't get her, connect with Sesshomaru, he is the only person who can get her connection if she turned her ear piece off. Connect back to me and report.” Kagome signed off.

“Why would she turn off her connections?” Kagome sat on the floor to rest for a second, the bodies didn't faze her.

“She most likely reached Naraku.” InuYasha grabbed Kagome's hand. She looked up into his golden eyes and felt a little better.

“What's wrong Kag?” She turned her face to the floor.

“I don't want to tell you.” He grabbed he shoulders gently and she made a weak smile.

“Tell me.”

“Alright but promise you won't make me leave till everyone is at base safe and this war is over.” InuYasha nodded.

“I promise.” Kagome exhaled at his words. She knew an Inu Youkai would keep their promises even if InuYasha was only a Hanyou.

“InuYasha…I'm pregnant.” His world stopped along with his breathing.

“You're holding my pup?” Kagome nodded. What InuYasha did next surprised her.

He bit her neck hard.

Kagome didn't feel pain though it was more a warm sensation that made her feel complete. Her body relaxed and InuYasha withdrew his fangs. He grabbed her close to him.

“That's my mate mark it isn't complete but for now everyone knows your mine and I'm yours…forever.” Kagome looked up at him and he helped her up.

“The fucking faster we do this the faster I can get you home safe.” Kagome nodded then her ear piece beeped.

“Speak.”

“Her USEP says the fifth floor and Sesshomaru says that he connected with her but she didn't speak. He only heard Naraku's voice saying something my guess says go to the fifth floor or Naraku.”

“Thanks Aya, I let you know if we find her.” Kagome turned to InuYasha who was loading up his guns.

“Do you know where Naraku is?” InuYasha paused then sighed.

“Seventh floor.” Kagome nodded then grabbed his hand.

“Let's go.”

He brought a sword.

Sango gritted her teeth in anger.

“That will be the last time you call me that.” Naraku raised en eyebrow and smirked at her.

“That can only happen when I die. I'm more then sure your attempt will be again unsuccessful. So get used to that endearment.” Sango with drew her sword that she barely used.

“My mate is already dead.” Naraku shook his head from side to side and pulled out his own sword.

“I'm standing right here.” Sango raged on the inside at his words.

“My mate died when he started to absorb other demons, my mate died when he beat me, my mate died when he trapped me in Osaka, my mate died when he raped me, my mate died when I aborted his evil child, my mate died when he fucking killed my family in retaliation…….he died when he became devoid of humanity.” Naraku looked at her and his eyes sparked and flared at every word she said. Every memory was itched into his mind. From the day he locked her up in their home in Osaka to time he came home and found her taking a very powerful concoction that killed his son.

“If you were obedient none of that would have happened.” Sango looked at him her magenta eyes sparked. Somehow when they had mated Sango's eyes -a clean cut green- had turned into magenta, if it was a few shades darker her eyes would be the same color as his.

Blood red

Sango knew they had been standing there for a minute now. She was sure Naraku knew also, because he smirked.

“Great.” He lowered his sword. “The group is here. Now we wait for the almighty himself. ”

Sesshomaru knew they were waiting for him. He walked up the stairs calmly then remembered what Kagome had said.

A prophecy?

He connected with Ayame. There was a beep and he knew she was waiting for him to speak.

“Do not lie to me, what is this prophecy?” Ayame sighed.

“The prophecy has been passed down from the woman in my wolf tribe. Once they all died I was the holder of it and The Shikon no tama till Naraku attacked. I was supposed to protect the prophecy and find the protector of the Shikon no tama.” Sesshomaru now realized the real reason Ayame was attacked.

“What does this prophecy say?” she had it memorized.

“The half human half devil will become tainted with evil heart. If his favor were to grow the murder of hundreds will stain the earth an insidious red. The white haired one will instigate divine hearts. The wicked heart shall become weak when his side turns to light. But as consequence two shall disappear. However when the crescent moon arrives one wish will be granted. Then the death of three will die, and a divine heart freed. A rebirth and demon peace under the western king.”

Sesshomaru arrived in front of the door. He could already tell that Naraku, InuYasha, Kagome, Sango, and Miroku were inside.

“Ayame get over here with both Kagura and Kouga. Leave Rin, Shippo, Kiku, and Kikyo at base. We're on the Seventh floor.”
