Bachan was the famous IY fan fiction writer Kristine Batey. On June 17th of this year at 10:08PM Bachan died. Chapter Twenty - Assassination Attempt

The early rays of the sun woke Sango up that morning. She had laid under a tree for some sort of shade. Kilala had snuggled next to her. The two-tailed still couldn't walk and Sango wondered how long was she waiting by the river before she found her. Nonetheless Sango got up and walked to the river. Even in the blistering heat Sango wanted to relax in a hot spring-which worked out the knots in her lower back. She instead stripped down and jumped into the cool cold river. She substituted crushed black berries for soap all the while keeping her eyes on her harness with her guns, small sword, and knife.

It was so hot that she only wore the harness around her hips.

If Miroku saw her, he'd have a field day.

Sango got out from the water after twenty minutes she went back to the tree she occupied before. She looked to the still slumbering Kilala and let the sun kiss her skin. Kilala awoke with a snarl and Sango petted her head.

“Do you sense something?” Kilala meowed and Sango rose to her feet and clipped the harness around her waist.

She saw two eyes that shouldn't have been there.

The panther pounced.

InuYasha held the doorknob tightly while looking from Rin to Shippo. He stood there shocked at the pair. He only meant to find the bathroom but every damn door looked the same- Mahogany red.

“Hell no!” InuYasha looked at Rin under Shippo. They both had been in a passionate kiss fully clothed. Although Shippo's hand was on Rin's naked thigh.

“Does Sesshomaru know you do this in his home?” Shippo didn't move but raised an eyebrow. His orange red hair spilled over his back and Rin's amber eyes showed true horror.

“This isn't his home, its base.” Shippo responded. InuYasha clenched his hands and went to pounce on the Kitsune but a hand held him back. Rin did jump up then as did Shippo. Sesshomaru clamped down on than hanyou's shoulder. Sesshomaru's other hand helped hold his five year old daughter. Kiku's golden eyes twinkled and she jumped on her uncle's back. Her red hair flapping off her shoulders as InuYasha struggled to hold the unexpected weight.

“Rin this is not the time or place.” Rin nodded.

“Yes I'm sorry.” Shippo sighed in defeat. He was starting to dislike the Takashi brothers' rules. Sesshomaru grabbed InuYasha and led him and Kiku - who was still on his back- out of the room.

“We need to talk little brother.” Sesshomaru said. InuYasha nodded in agreement. He didn't feel like arguing. They walked down to Sesshomaru's office and they sat down. Kiku scrambled to her father's lap. She snuggled into his chest and closed her eyes. Within a few minutes she was asleep, Sesshomaru ran his claws through her hair.

“What's this all about Sesshomaru? Having a child with Ayame her herself is young.” Sesshomaru looked down at his daughter. He loved her more then life itself.

“I met Ayame when she was fifteen years old. She was searching for Kikyo, when I gave her no information on her she attacked. She was extremely well in sword play. She defeated me and I told her to come to my corporation a year later. We trained her in other things as well. I made her third command. Her first mission was to seduce a Kitsune. Ayame was a virgin and she asked if I would take her. I did but she infatuated me. So she became like a mistress to me. Then she got pregnant with my child. I was proud but we didn't love each other. Kiku was born and we became close - Ayame and I. Not like a sister because I can never see her that way but maybe more like a `best friend' just closer. It was her birthday yesterday; she has chosen to forget the day in light of what has happened. ”

InuYasha looked from Sesshomaru to Kiku. They were such a contrast. Sesshomaru was stoic and Kiku was a vibrant ball of energy like her mother. Although in Sesshomaru's arms Kiku became contently calm. Ironic how she slept without a care curled up to the man who murdered hundreds. InuYasha felt a pang in his heart when he realized that he too had killed hundreds and how he was having a child with Kagome.

“Sesshomaru…Did you know Kagome is with child?” Sesshomaru looked up at InuYasha and narrowed his eyes.

“No, but when we get her back here you had better take care of her and the child.” InuYasha gave a weak smile.

“I love her.” Sesshomaru nodded. There was a knock on the door and the member's of the base walked in all expect Kikyo that is.

Kagome woke up with a start she raced out to the - as she dubbed it- living room. Her harness! How could she forget! The harness still held her communicator. She picked up the harness from the floor and detached her communicator. She looked at the number and saw that Sango's must have broke since her number wasn't there. Although Ayame and Sesshomaru were still connected. Kagome pressed the button that alerted both the Inu and Wolf. It beeped for about a minute before she got any voice. It was choppy but she could make out most of the words.

“Sesshy!” Kagome yelled over the static, she grasped the mouth piece in her hand tightly. She slowly felt tears roll down her eyes.

“Kagome! Damn it! Where are you woman?” She could hear InuYasha. He must have taken the connection from Sesshomaru.

“Yasha…I don't know. I'm staying in a hut in a forest. No one is here. It's completely empty.” InuYasha choked back a cry of depression.

“Kagome, baby that still doesn't tell us where you are.” She was crying now.

“I know but this isn't easy.” Sesshomaru took the connection back from InuYasha who fell into a chair.

“Kagome we are going to find you.” Kagome let out a small sob.

“Sesshy I can't hear you!” Kagome yelled franticly but the connection was lost after Sesshomaru's words. The communicator must have finally given out. Kagome placed a hand on her small bump. She walked out the hut and began her search for food.

She always wanted to try fishing.

“Fuck!” Sesshomaru shouted. Everyone looked at him they were not familiar with Sesshomaru losing his control.

“Rin take Kiku to her room.” Rin nodded, Sesshomaru sat back down at his desk. Kagura was by his side standing.

“We haven't found anything yet. We have no clue where Sango is. Kagome is somewhere in a forest.” Ayame stood up from her seat.

“Sesshomaru…what if me and Kagura try to get a vision on where they are?” Sesshomaru looked to his mate.

“We can try tonight.” Kagura smiled softly and Ayame nodded. Sesshomaru looked at the rest of the people in the room.

“Since you guys work for me there will be changes. Miroku you will be second in command along with Kagome. You are both partners. InuYasha you will work will Sango as first command. Kouga we can not have you work with Ayame since the distraction of your mate will affect your performance. Kouga you will work Shippo in a general command. You'll most likely be working on standard attacks. Rin will be your partner Ayame, till this mission is over, then you will be at liberty of an assassin.” Ayame jumped out of her seat at that.

“What! Sesshomaru how can you restrict me?”

“Aya, you were only hired till Naraku's death. You wanted to spend time as Kiku's mother did you not?” Ayame sighed.

“Yes, but can I at least do inside work along with Kikyo?” Sesshomaru nodded.

“First and foremost I want to say that Kagome, Sango, and Ayame have trained hard. What I notice that you three haven't been trained in Medical and Defense. Why is that Miroku?”

“We felt that a defense team was not needed and as for medical…the rule was every man for himself. If someone was hurt they were left behind.” Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes.

“If someone is hurt you carry them.”

After the meeting Rin decided to get a few things for base. She was also in charge of finding a mansion with fifteen rooms - it was her brother's favorite number. She tied her long black hair into a pony tail but it still reached right above her backside. After all base was just that, a base for all of Sesshomaru's outside cooperation work. There were twenty rooms but only six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and the rest was training rooms and such. Not one kitchen. Not to mention Kiku's enormous princess room. She never knew a child could have that many toys!

Rin stopped.

She looked around but saw nothing out of the ordinary. She walked into the supermarket. She strolled down the aisle and grabbed what she thought was needed. She was shocked today when she found out that Sesshomaru was letting her work as an assassin. She had to admit that life style wasn't great but she wanted to avenge her mother and step mother who died by Naraku's hand.

She heard it.

A bullet shot.

“Shit!” Sango cursed and dodged the panther's claws. She grabbed Kilala and pulled out her gun. Damn this could not be happening to her. Damn wild animals. Sango jumped up and landed on the panther's back. Sango screamed as she fell onto her back. She pointed her gun at the animal and shot. The Black Panther collapsed and struggled to fight the intense pain. Sango then saw a young man jump out of nowhere. He had long blue black hair the same length at Sesshomaru's. Sango pointed the gun at him and hid behind a tree. She was after all naked. Despite the fact that the guy had only white boxer shorts on.

“You work for Sesshomaru or Naraku?” he asked. Sango put on her outfit from the battle with Naraku back on.

“Who are you?” the man's green eye's looked at her with mild curiosity.

“I'm Shoji Meioh…I've been here for five years. Naraku put me here. I'm married to Kikyo…we have a son.” Sango lowered her gun. Five years ago she started working for Sesshomaru's elite. Back then Kikyo went into a seven month depression. A year later both Ayame and Kagome had joined. Kikyo never talked about her past she said it hurt, that her past was died. The ring on his finger only proved his truth.

Her past was very much alive.

“I'm Sango Taijiya; I work for Sesshomaru as first command. Kikyo is in a state of comma for the second time in four years. I work with her cousin Kagome and Ayame who fathered Sesshomaru's only child.” Shoji looked around.

“Come Sango, I have my son back at my hut.” He looked sadden by the news of Kikyo. Kikyo was a strong woman but after Sango's mishap with a Shikon bullet she lost her sparkle.

Sango grabbed Kilala and they followed Shoji.

Shippo looked at the documents that Sesshomaru had sent him and Kouga. They were things that he found odd or things like a small youkai clan rioting for invalid reasons. His cell phone rang interrupting the conversation about Sesshomaru and Kagura.

“Hello?” For awhile all he heard was static then Rin hushed voice.

“Shippo, I'm at the supermarket but Naraku's men have attacked in a full out assault.”

“We'll be there in a minute, stay safe till then.” They both hung up. Shippo rushed Kouga out the room and they went to Sesshomaru's room. Sesshomaru was sitting with Kiku and Ayame watching some child movie. Sesshomaru stood up slowly and looked the two.

“Who said you could enter?” Sesshomaru asked calmly but he hated having his private space trespassed upon without his permission.

“Sesshomaru! Rin is in the supermarket and Naraku has planned a full out assassination attempt.” Sesshomaru nodded at Ayame.

“Ayame you stay here with Kiku and Kagura. Protect Kikyo, Souta, and Kohaku. Shippo get InuYasha tell him to bring his guns. Kouga you do the same with Miroku.”

`A full out assassination attempt? Why would he want Rin dead so bad?' Sesshomaru thought. Right now he had no time to think InuYasha was running out the house with the biggest damn gun he ever seen.

Kikyo's Dream

She ran as fast as she could- dodging bullets as she grabbed the prophecy in her hands. She had translated it while being held in Naraku's restrictions. A bullet pierced her shoulder and she fell. The bullet made her drowsy as she slowly recalled Naraku taking the manuscript from her hands. He picked her up no-gentle.

“I let you have a little freedom and you blow it. Now you'll be restricted to your own private room. You won't tell a soul of this translation or I'll personally make sure you'll sleep forever.”

Kikyo's only thought was Rin, Kagome, Sango and someone she didn't quite know yet.

AN: Yes things to clear up since these -what I call- turning point chapters are a bit confusing.

Kikyo was/is married to Shoji Meioh (Yes I am aware that Shoji is also the name of a door) - a simple human - and they had a child. But Naraku took both Shoji and their son. Kikyo thinks they are dead. No one knows about this except Rin (who was fourteen at the time) Sesshomaru and Yura (who died in a battle with Naraku)

Kagura and Sesshomaru are mates, and Kouga and Ayame are mates.

As to why Miroku is now second in command apposed to first be because Sesshomaru doesn't want Miroku to work with Sango. She would be a distraction.

Any questions on Ayame and Sesshomaru just ask me them. Otherwise I don't think I need to stress that. Yes Ayame had Kiku at sixteen, Sango aborted her child at seventeen, and Kikyo had her son at twenty.

Naraku? Naraku is currently hurt and planning to reappear.

The “War”: People have been confused as to what Sesshomaru and Naraku are fighting for. There is a human society and a Youkai society only because their vast differences. There is a president for the Youkai society and he sets all the rules and laws that youkai must abide by since they coexist with humans and other Youkai. Naraku is that president, some Youkai favor him but most don't. To gain control over Youkai society one must eliminate the pervious Youkai. Sesshomaru is that man who wants to eliminate. Sesshomaru is liked by most but more then a few either dislikes him or is in fear. There is no good side in my story. Both parties kill humans and demons alike. Everyone is tainted in my story which mostly means they are all going to hell =)
