InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Dog Daze ❯ Ear Rubs and Rabbits ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Kagome watched as Inuyasha brought down the powerful youkai that had been sent by Naraku. He claimed the jewel
shard and tossed it to her yelling “Here wench, purify that, it burns like fire.” she smirked as she used her miko powers
to cleanse the shard of evil.
As the creature died a whisper ran through the surrounding trees “Inuyasha, a clever little hanyou you have been, but I
believe, my next action will take you down a few notches.” It paused as the group looked around in confusion “Become
what your appearance suggests, for your mind shall be a greater prison than any wrought of steel.” Kagome watched as
a large dark aura burned around Inuyasha, and tossed him high in the air he crashed down and she was at his side before
the dust could settle.
The young miko grasped his hand and asked him worriedly “Inuyasha are you alright?” the hanyou gazed up at her
with a look she couldn’t place, it wasn’t anything she had ever seen in him before. It was almost akin to the look of a lost
puppy, alight with that sort of hope that you were going to be good to them.
She repeated his name “Inuyasha?” he looked up at her and did the last thing she or anyone of their small shard
searching party expected. He licked her on the lips, Kagome froze and he whined, flattening his ears back. She didn’t
know what was wrong with him but, she felt bad when he cringed and his cute little ears flattened, she reached out and
scratched gently behind one ear coaxing it back into a natural position. He purred with satisfaction and leaned into her
hand, his amber eyes drifting closed.
Kagome looked up at Sango and Miroku, as she continued with her ministration, and asked “What is wrong with him?”
Miroku looked half amused as he spoke, leaning onto his staff “It appears a curse of some kind has been placed on our
dear Inuyasha.” Sango looked at the purring hanyou who had sunk down to rest his head in Kagome’s lap while she
continued to stroke his ears. “Well, that is a bit obvious, Miroku, but what kind of spell would be powerful enough to
reduce him to this--” she stopped, watching in amazement when Kagome began absently stroking his silver hair. “This
big puppy.” she finished.
Kagome looked down at him and decided “We’d better go see Kaede, and find out what she has to say about this.”
Kagome stood, leaving Inuyasha crouched on the ground watching her expectantly. She looked to the others “Uh, how
are we supposed to make him come with us?” Miroku smirked “Try walking away and calling for him like you would a
dog, I think he’ll come.” Kagome gave him a wilting look at the thought of calling Inuyasha like a dog and what he would
do to her if she tried that when he was in his right state of mind.
She sighed and started walking away whistling and calling “Come here, Inuyasha, come here, boy.” his ears perked and
he bounded over to her, she reached down and patted him on the head as she watched Sango and Miroku slump over
trying to conceal their laughter.
On their way to the village, Inuyasha wandered off, his nose to the ground sniffing into the trees, they sat down and
waited, knowing he’d come back if Kagome called. After a half an hour of waiting, Inuyasha leapt out of the foliage with
two dead rabbits hanging from his mouth, Sango and Miroku stared at the grotesque objects dangling from the hanyou’s
jaws.
Kagome watched as Inuyasha came over to her and dropped the carcass’s in her lap, flecking her with blood and saliva.
She was just as disgusted as the others but decided it would be best to praise him, she reached out and stroked his
head, saying in a voice she used on her cat “Good Boy Inuyasha! You did such a good job bringing us dinner.” He
practically beamed with pride from her comment and gratefully licked the blood from her face.
She sat still as his slightly rough tongue moved over every inch of her face, she could hear Miroku mutter to Sango “Why
Sango, please let me take Inuyasha’s example and clean your face for you.” she head a familiar smack and when
Inuyasha finished she could see Miroku lying unconscious with a bright red hand mark on his cheek. Kagome looked at
the bloody pile of fur in her lap and looked to Sango asking “Can you dress these? they should taste pretty good.” the
exterminator nodded and reached over to take the rabbits. She glanced down at Inuyasha, who was settling himself on
Kagome, curling up so that he was partially on her lap.
Kagome looked down and stroked his hair, when she felt Sango’s gaze she looked up to see her watching in
amusement. She broke the silence by saying “I hope Kaede will know what to do with him, I know Shippo will never
stop laughing when he finds out.” she smiled as she played with his ear, and he began to purr softly “Though he is really
sweet this way.” Sango looked up from the second rabbit she was dressing and gaped at Kagome.
She didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to embarrass the younger girl, she watched as Miroku began to stir.
The monk sat up clutching his cheek as he looked around “What did I miss?” he then saw Kagome and Inuyasha and
smiled the way he does when he is thinking perverted thoughts. Sango interpreted the smile and glared at him to keep
him quiet, he caught it and instead changed the subject “Ah, is that rabbit? My dear Sango, what sort of holy man would
I be if I let a beautiful woman such as yourself dirty your hands while I sat idly by?” he took the rabbit which by now had
been cleaned, and placed the strips on a pan over the fire.
The meat crackled and when it was done Miroku removed it and placed in bowls for them all to eat. Kagome took hers
but then looked down at Inuyasha who was dozing peacefully in her lap. She thought and then said “I’d better make
Inuyasha some Ramen noodles, he must be hungry.” She pulled out a couple of packages of his favorite noodles and
cooked them, he woke just as she was finishing up.
She set it in front of him, he sniffed and it immediately registered as a good thing, he dug into it face first. When he was
done he looked up at her with a noodle dangling from his nose, Kagome laughed and pulled it off, he took it out of her
fingers, eating it as well. As they all finished eating and bedded down for the night, Sango and Miroku watched in
curiosity as to where Inuyasha would sleep. Kagome climbed in her sleeping bag and silently prayed that Inuyasha
wouldn’t come and sleep by her, not that she minded but she couldn’t bear it when Miroku and Sango laughed at the
two of them.
Her prayers turned out to be futile when she heard Inuyasha sniffing near her feet and observed as a pair of white dog
ears popped into view. He curled against her as she gazed into his amber orbs and he licked her lips, then snuggled
against her and fell asleep, their faces centimeters apart.
She heard Miroku move closer to Sango and attempt to perform his perverted habits, soon after, she heard Sango
smack him and hiss insults “Will you leave me alone!!” he pulled away quickly and said innocently from the safety of a
distant tree “My lady Sango, I was merely trying to keep you warm.” silence again fell upon the surrounding woods.
