InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Dog Daze ❯ Let Sleeping Dogs Lie ( Chapter 2 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
The next morning Kagome woke and suddenly wished she didn’t exist. Inuyasha was holding her tightly, he was in front
of her with his arms and legs wrapped heavily around her body. She was no longer in her sleeping bag but was
enveloped in the hanyou’s bright red kimono, her face held against his chest.
What made the situation worse was that both Sango and Miroku were awake and watching her intently as if they had
been waiting for her to wake up. She looked at them over Inuyasha’s scarlet shoulder, as if hoping they would explain
and surprisingly enough Sango did “As you know Kagome, Inuyasha is a half dog demon, and with the current spell in
place he seems to be acting like a dog. It is a common habit of male dogs to show dominance and protection over their
mates by latching onto them, in that exact manner.” she stopped, allowing her words to sink into Kagome who
stammered in horror, quietly as to not waken the slumbering hanyou. “You mean Inuyasha considers me his mate?!”
Miroku chuckled “It definitely appears that way.”
Kagome tried to ease her way out of Inuyasha's hold but when she moved he growled softly and wrapped tighter. She
looked to the others “A little help here?” Sango pulled out some powder from inside of her battle suit, and leaned down,
holding the substance below Inuyasha’s sensitive nose.
They watched closely as his nose twitched and he sneezed, he let go of Kagome, rolled back and brushed furiously at
his nose while whining. Kagome moved away a bit and asked the demon exterminator “What did you use on him?”
Sango brushed the last of the powder off her hands saying “An old trick of the trade, it’s the first thing I learned as an
exterminator. It irritates a demon’s nose, but I fear it might be a bit stronger for him since he is a dog demon.”
Kagome turned her attention to Inuyasha, he was still whining and was curled against a tree, his nose was red and his
eyes watered profusely. A wave of guilt and pity swept over Kagome, she took a water bottle and pulled out a kerchief,
she moved over beside him. Pouring some cool water onto the material she held it on his nose, his whine took on a
higher pitch at her touch. She stroked his ear with her other hand and cooed softly “I’m sorry Inuyasha, I know your
nose burns.”
Kagome took her hand from his ear to dab a tissue to his eyes saying “And your pretty amber eyes, are running.” If she
had seen the look exchanged between Sango and Miroku she may have stopped and blushed, but at the moment she
was intent on Inuyasha.
Even Miroku was too distracted to try to make a move on Sango. Kagome brought some aloe out of her bag and
spread some under his eyes and nose, his whine dwindled under her soothing touch, she laughed at the green aloe goop
spread on his face. He licked her and rubbed his cheek against her face purring madly, smearing aloe on her, but she
didn’t care.
Kagome melted under his touch, and didn’t even hear the comments from Sango and Miroku. When he pulled away she
was left wanting more, just whishing he would have stayed there with her forever, his rumbling purr vibrating through her.
She shook her head to clear her thoughts saying to herself, ‘Kagome remember he is thinking like a dog, he is not
the stubborn, aggressive, overbearing, handsome, protective, Inuyasha that you love. He is just showing
affection because you are being nice to him, just like an owner and their puppy.’
She looked at him again and stood picking up her bag and turning to the others “We’d better get moving, we should be
at the village by this evening.”
