Out on your own

Cold and alone again

Can this be what you really wanted baby

Blame it on me

Set your guilt free

Nothing can hold you back now

Now that you're gone

I feel like myself again

Grieving the things I can't repair and willing

To let you blame it on me

And set your guilt free

I don't want to hold you back now love

I can't change who I am

Not this time

I won’t lie to keep you near me

And in this short life

There's no time to waste on giving up

My love wasn't enough

And you can blame it on me

Just set your guilt free honey

I don't want to hold you back now love

Aliya wrapped her arms around her middle as she stared into the flickering waters of a large river. It had been a whole year since she had finally uncovered the truth behind her past life. And the truth hurt far worse than she could ever imagine.

Inuyasha, the one whom she trusted with her life and had fallen in love with, had betrayed her past life self Aeiru to her to-be mate. When she had first learned the truth she wanted Inuyasha to tell her why he had used her that way but she soon realized that she did not need him to tell her.

It was clearly obvious that this was a way to pay Naraku back for all the times the demon had hurt those that Inuyasha had cared about. Aliya closed her eyes feeling the familiar pain in her heart. They had both hurt her beyond anything that she had ever known before. Taking a deep breath, she cleared her mind of any thoughts of them.

She had to move on if she was ever to hope for a normal life. Aliya slide off the rock that she was seated upon and began to cross the river. The river water was icy cold making it difficult for her to climb upon the rocky shore. Groaning, Aliya crawled upon a large rock. Resting there for a moment she didn't notice the shadow that fell over her.

"What are you doing on my lands?" asked a male voice. Aliya raised her eyes to see a gorgeous man standing over her. He had long flowing white hair, a pale complexion and beautiful golden eyes. On each of his cheeks where two purple stripes painted upon his skin. His clothing consisted of a white haori and long pants with a chest plate of armor. Draped over his shoulder was a large fluffy boa. Or... to Aliya it appeared to be a boa.

The young woman calmed herself closing her eyes as she raised herself upon her feet. "I was not aware that these lands belonged to anyone. I'll leave.." she said. During the year that she traveled from Naraku's palace she had come across many demons. All of whom were territorial. Some could be thwarted just by a simple apology but there were some of those who she had to battle against.

The man before her who Aliya realized was a demon remained in her way. His face and his voice remained devoid of any emotion although she could still hear a hint of coldness in it. "You should have known that you were in my lands." Aliya sighed heavily not really having the energy to fight but she spread her legs apart. "Look all I am asking is to be able to pass through." The demon's clawed hand flexed popping his knuckles as he did so. "Fight me and you may pass..." he said, calmly.

Aliya flew back narrowly escaping the demon's strike. Slowly her breath she kept well ahead of all the demon's attacks with much difficulty although she managed to only have her kimono slashed up. Keeping her breathing even she leapt high flipping over the head of the demon. As he turned around to face her, she kicked him hard in the stomach.

The demon seemed slightly surprised by her attack but the emotion quickly passed as he unsheathed his sword. Aliya's eyes widened. He's drawing his sword!? Jesus, he plans to kill me! The young woman felt panic overtake her senses as she desperately tried to get away from him. But with each move that she made the demon matched her move.

"Let me pass," Aliya breathed as she jumped onto a tree before using it as a push off point just barely missing the blade of the demon's sword. Just as she turned to face the demon, she made a series of symbols before forming her hands into a triangle and pointing them at him. "WAVE CRUSHER!" she shouted as a huge beam of water shot out of the triangle space of her hands.

Again the surprised expression passed over the demon's face like a shadow. He jumped back narrowly dodging the water wave. He drew his hand back. His hand turned a yellowish color as he leapt towards Aliya slashing at her again. His claws slashed her across her stomach, drawing blood. Aliya cried out from the pain.

Catching her arm, the demon raised her high before flinging her with all his might away from him. Aliya winced as she hit the ground with a tremendous amount of force. He was more powerful than she had bargained for. She looked up at him as he towered over her, his face not clear as the sun burned brightly behind him. The young woman's eyes rolled to the back of her head as she slipped into unconsciousness.

The demon stood over her watching her for a moment. His long white hair blowing in the wind. Slowly he leaned down and scooped Aliya into his arms. He wasn't entirely sure why he did so but he just decided to do it. He turned and began to carry her even farther to the west than she was when he stumbled upon her.

He had hidden himself behind a tree downwind and watched her as she sat staring into the waters of the moving river. Her expression had reflected such sadness that he wondered within his heart what could have happened to her to make her feel that way. After watching her silently for a few minutes, he decided to make his presence known to her.

Now he carried the young woman in his arms and stared ahead of himself. Finally he tore his eyes away from where he was going and looked down at her. Even in sleep, there was a hint of sadness in her features. But along with that sadness was a sense of bitter coldness. He had seen this in her golden eyes.

She was a very remarkable woman. A demon that’s scent he had been unable to detect. And she wielded power over water. Looking up from her face which he had realized although was beautiful did not hold any features that really stood out, he saw that he had come upon his palace.

"My lord!" came the squeaky and annoying voice of his faithful servant, Jaken. "You have finally returned." The demon merely grunted in respond as he entered his palace. "My lord?" "Do not disturb me, Jaken." The kappa whimpered. "But my..." The demon turned his cold gaze to the smaller demon before continuing down the hallway.

Inuyasha opened his eyes to find himself staring into the blue eyes of Koga. "Hey how are you feeling?" he asked as he helped the inu-hanyou into a sitting position. Inuyasha did not answer him as he stared ahead in the direction of Naraku's palace. "Did you find her? Why isn't she here? What happened?" Came the three questions that Inuyasha dreaded to answer. "Yeah... I found her," he whispered as he rose to his feet.

"Okay then why isn't she here with you? What happened?" Koga asked him. "She found out the truth. All of it and she chose her own path." Koga frowned not understand what Inuyasha could mean by that but did not question the hanyou any further upon seeing the pain in his eyes. "What do you want to do?"

"I'll find her again, Koga. But not now... she needs to be alone," Inuyasha said as he walked away from the okami. Koga shook his head knowing deep inside that there was something that Inuyasha was hiding from him that prevented Aliya from returning with him. The okami followed after his friend and rival. "Not leaving?" Inuyasha asked never moving his gaze from the road ahead. "I'll stay with you until you find her," Koga said shrugging his shoulders.

Aliya moaned softly as she felt the sensation of something cool touching her stomach. Opening her eyes slowly she saw that her vision was still slightly blurred making it difficult to discern things. "Don't move. You are still under the affects of my poison," she heard a soft male voice tell her. The young woman turned her gaze to see the same man who had fought her by the river.

Too weak to move away from him, she could only make an angered and frustrated noise in her throat. The demon's gaze fell upon her face as he stopped whipping the wounds on her stomach momentarily before returning his attention back to her stomach. Aliya grunted deep in her throat as she tried to sit up but the demon pushed her down hard against soft pillows. "I said don't move or you'll succumb to the poison again," he said.

Aliya sighed as she stared up at the wooden ceiling. She had questions that she wanted to ask him but they would have to wait as the demon medicated and dressed all her wounds. When he was finished, Aliya returned her gaze to his beautiful face. "Wh-where..." she began but she found it difficult to speak as her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth several times.

"You are in my palace," he said calmly as he replaced the towel he was using into a bowl and passed it to a servant that Aliya had realized had been in the shadows. The servant kept her face pointed to the ground as she left the room. "Palace?" Aliya managed to say as the information began to sink in. Is this demon like Naraku. Residing in a palace that did not belong to him? "What is your name, woman."

Aliya broke out of her thoughts and turned her gaze towards the demon. "I am..." she paused for a moment unsure of how to answer him. She wanted to say her own name but she also wanted to answer him with Aeiru. "I am no one..." she finally said. The demon nodded as if he understood why she would answer him in that manner. "Who are you?" Aliya whispered as she felt sleep slowly overtaking her.

"I am the Inu-daisho Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands," he answered her as Aliya closed her eyes and drifted to sleep again.
