CHAPTER 9: OBSESSIONS AND INVITATION

Inuyasha's head as well swiveled around at the voice. What he saw quirked his eyebrows up. Well hello…long time no see. Curious, he looked over to Miroku. He smirked as he saw the panicked look. That boy is so in for it…

"Oh my god! Miroku! I am so happy to see you again! Did you miss me?" the girl with dark brunette hair charged right up to Miroku and wrapped her arms around his neck. He stumbled back in surprise, but did not return the embrace. She didn't notice. She was back and with Miroku.

"Uh-uh…K-Koharu. Uh…I…" useless things tumbled out of Miroku's mouth, none of which was what he wanted to say. He could only stare down at Koharu, his ex-girlfriend of six months. Of course she didn't know that yet.

She only giggled at his awkwardness, and grabbed his hands. She assumed it was because he noticed that she had grown up in the past six months, away in England. Her tomboyish body had filled with her blooming womanhood, and she smiled seductively at him. His color went down a notch.

"Oh Miroku! You have no idea how much I've missed you! All those boys in England were pathetic!" she turned when Inuyasha cleared his throat, "Inuyasha! I'm sorry, didn't see you. O'genki desu ka?"

"Oh I'm just fine," Inuyasha bit his cheek hard to keep his smirk at bay. "But I think~"

"A~hem…" Miroku slowly turned in the direction the noise came from. He knew who it was, and he really regretted he had to be found this way. God have mercy on his soul.

Sango pushed through the bathroom door, Kagome hurriedly following her. Kagome's heart wouldn't stop pacing like a bird's, surprise and anxiety pumping through her body. How did this happen? Why did it happen? Was god cursing her?

"Okay," Sango let go of her hand, turned and crossed her arms. "What the hell was that back there?"

"How should I know?" Kagome said a bit too loudly, "did I ask him to follow me?"

Sango sighed, "I know, but he didn't follow you, we both know that. But are you like jinxed or something? I thought we saw the last of Hojo when you told him to back off."

"It wasn't that easy Sango," Kagome looked down at her hands, "he just kept following even when I told him to leave me alone. He's just so dense. I finally got through to him when I smacked him and told him to get out of my face."

Sango sighed, remembering, and fell into silence with Kagome. Kagome stared down at her hands in thought. She still couldn't figure it out. Hojo had been so sweet when she met him outside of Dojima's gates. He had been on his way home, taking a short cut. She bumped into him, and it just went from there. Every day, he was there outside the gates waiting for her. He finally got the courage to ask her out, and she accepted. They had never officially kissed, but they snuggled. Then, he just got creepy. He'd call so many times a day, and asked really personal questions. And she could have sworn she saw him outside her window in her yard. He had been over her house once, and when she came upstairs, she noticed a few black hairs sticking out of his pocket. And noticed her brush had been cleaned. Sango told her once that she saw him sneaking around the shrine grounds too. That was the last straw. If Sango told her something creepy was going on, then it really was. She avoided him after school sometimes, and walked faster if he called out to her when she got on the bus. His politeness got to her too. He was just so damn nice all the time. He started obsessing and going after her more. He was so dense he ignored when she said she wanted to see someone else. The last time, he grabbed her wrist gruffly trying to get her attention, and she just flipped. She smacked him hard on his butt and screamed that they were over. She didn't hear from him since. But once and awhile she got a chilling feeling, like she was being watched.

"So," Sango snapped her out of her thoughts, "do you think it matters if he's here now?"

"Iie, I don't. Besides, I'm with Inuyasha now and that's all that matters. All I know is that if he starts following me~"

"I'll visit you in prison," Sango grinned. The tension broke and they fell into a fit of laughter. The bell rung, and Sango helped her off the floor.

"Sango, you're my best friend," Kagome wrapped her arm around the other girl's shoulder.

"I thought I was your long lost twin?" Sango smiled.

"There's that too."

The two walked out of the bathroom laughing madly into the crowded hallway. Heads turned their way but they shrugged it off. Just two silly girls. Laughing madly in the hall. That is until they spotted their boyfriends. Sango's eyes narrowed at the scene. A skimpy little girl released herself from a still Miroku's neck (the same neck Sango left a hicky on) and clasped his hands. Miroku still didn't respond as the girl chatted excitedly to him. Next to him, Inuyasha bit dowon on his bottom lip, trying hard not to snicker. As the girl gave Miroku a very inappropriate look at HER boyfriend, Sango had enough. Stalking up behind Miroku, she crossed her arms and pursed her lips. Kagome went over and stood by Inuyasha, sending him a worried look, as he turned red with restraint.

"A~hem…"Sango cleared her throat. A dark brow perked up as Miroku turned to her slowly. The girl looked around Miroku to her, giving her a curious look. Sango wanted to give her a scowl but she didn't even know her. As she made eye contact with Miroku, she blinked when she saw the relived look enter his eyes.

Miroku smiled brightly and thanked anyone out there that's she got here in time. Miroku quickly tugged his hands from a confused Koharu's, and wrapped an arm around her waist.

"Sango dear!" Miroku cheered relieved, "there you are. I'd like you to meet someone. A friend of mine" ~emphasis on the friend~ ", she just got back from England. Sango, this is Koharu. Koharu, this is my girlfriend" ~again, emphasis on the girlfriend~ "Sango."

Sango held out a hand stiffly, "nice to meet you."

Koharu only shook her hand weakly with a shocked expression in her eyes. Girlfriend? But, wasn't she…Miroku's girlfriend? What happened? He actually met some one while she was away? Before Koharu left for her father's in England, she had told Miroku that she wouldn't be returning for a while, and that he could see any one he wanted. At the time, he said no one else was for him. But now…and this girl…Koharu couldn't match with the beauty. Her hair was luscious, her heart shaped face was fabulous with lashes Koharu would kill for, and they way Miroku changed when she arrived…it was dampening to Koharu. And the way Miroku minded her…he never gave that kind of attention to all his other flings.

"Hey guys," Inuyasha distracted, "we should get to class."

Kagome nodded and tugged him along. She felt very uncomfortable watching Sango gave Miroku some pretty deadly glares. Sango only followed stiffly as Miroku turned her around and towards their next class. She cut him another glare as he sighed in relief.

"What was that about?" she clipped her words sharp.

Miroku winced at her words but smiled nonetheless. "A fate worse than perversion."

"And that would be?" again with tart words.

"Obsession."

Sango's brows scrunched in confusion, and she asked question after question as they headed to Drama.

"Tough break for Miroku," Inuyasha grumbled at his desk in his giant room, chewing on his pencil as he read over some biology homework. His phone was tucked on his shoulder as he flipped pages looking for answer.

"Yeah, Sango didn't calm down until she got the whole story," Kagome replied over her wireless phone, unknowingly doing the same homework. Her chair creaked as she leaned back to stretch. She frowned as she heard clinking. "Inuyasha, stop chewing on your pencil, its annoying."

Inuyasha growled as he plucked the pencil form his mouth. A dog-ear swiveled around as he heard Akiko come up the stairs. He snorted as he remembered the `interesting' class after the Koharu incident. Sango wouldn't leave the sweating Miroku alone till he gave her every detailed. She only calmed back down after he reassured her for the tenth time that Koharu didn't matter anymore. At least not in that sense. Miroku had been a nervous wreck when the interrogation was over. But he instantly perked up when Sango leaned on to his shoulder. it actually had been a cheesy romantic moment, but he didn't complain cause Kagome was there.

"So what are you doing this weekend?" she chirped up.

"Nothing you?" Inuyasha mumbled as he read a section of the textbook.

"Well, I was wondering if I could finally come over your house," Kagome replied.

Inuyasha's pencil tip snapped. "My house?"

"Yeah, maybe I could meet your brother, you know the one you always complain about. Maybe bring Sango and Miroku with me?" she worried at the silence at the other end.

"Inuyasha?"

Right now, Inuyasha was in lala land. He still hadn't told her about what his brother does, and where they live. They actually got pretty far without him going into details. But now she had brought it out into the open. He had been considering bringing her over, but would it change anything? Would she mad at him for not telling her? Or would she take advantage of him and his money, like Kikyou had done? What the?! What's wrong with you? How could you even compare her with that bitch? No she's not Kikyou at all.

"INUYASHA!" the phone condensed Kagome's voice right into his sensitive ear.

"Ah! What is it wench?" he growled and rubbed his poor ear, switching the phone so she didn't damage it further.

Kagome's face went flat, "don't call me that. I was just wondering if you still there, and if it sounded like a good idea." Silence. Well, time for the begging. "Please, Inuyasha! My house is just getting so boring! And you never tell me anything! I just want~"

"All right! All right already! Jeez, you don't have to pull my heart strings," he sighed,

"How bout Saturday?"

She smiled to her self, "Saturday it is. Mind if the others come?"

"More the merrier." She laughed, "but Kagome?"

"Hm?"

"Just don't be mad at me, okay?"

Her brow arched, "and that is suppose to mean what?"

"You'll see. Anyways, did you do bio?" he quickly changed the subject. He'd just have to prepare for the yelling or accusing or maybe both.

"Uh…yeah, I'm doing it right now. Why?" she said unsure. What was that about? Its like he was trying to avoid it. What was he hiding?

"I just need some help." He stated, chewing on his pencil once again. They spent the next two hours doing homework over the phone. They stopped when Kagome's mom yelled up for the phone. Saying quick goodbyes, they hung up.

Kagome lay awake for a little while worrying about how Inuyasha reacted to her request. It was simple enough, nothing major. But he had acted as if it was a huge turning point in his life. It couldn't be all that bad, could it? What did he live in a rundown shack or something? Well no, not with the god clothes he wore, so what was it? She sighed and rolled over. Inuyasha, the enigma that was her boyfriend.
