CHAPTER 10: SO MANY SURPRISES

Kagome looked at the building. Looked back down at the paper with some writing. The house. The paper. She glanced at a wide-eyed Sango, and noticed her friend seemed more surprised than she was.

"Are you sure this is the right address?" she asked the driver of the taxi.

"That's what you gave me lady. I don't ask, I just drive," he grunted back, still waiting for his pay. Miroku came to his window and pulled out his wallet. He still wanted the girls to `adjust' to Inuyasha's house.

Sango and Kagome stared through the iron gates to the beautiful light coral and white house. Two Roman pillars stood each side of the porch, which was very big and had a yawning hanging over the driveway. On either side of the main body was a very big wing, the glass in the windowpanes shining brightly in the sun. It was slope roofed, not flat, with French doors lining the bottom floor. Shrubs were planted smartly in between doors; wild flower beds bloomed in their last blossoms of the fall. Only the mums remained, tinting the air with a cinnamon smell. The driveway was gravel, granite. Through the large window on the front and middle of the house, an elaborate glass chandelier hung in the main hall. Waves could be heard from out back, and Kagome noticed the long stretch of sand that led away from the house. `That's where we met…'

Miroku walked past them familiarly, ignoring the accusing glare Sango gave him, and pressed the intercom. They waited a second.

"Yes?" a woman's voice responded.

"Hey Akiko! Its your favorite gentleman escorting two lovely ladies for a visit to the Baka king." Miroku replied with a smirk.

On the other end, the head maid rolled her eyes. She still didn't understand how the boys were friends. "Oh really? I can let the girls in, but I should I let you?"

Miroku gasped dramatically, "Akiko! How could you hurt me so?"

Behind him, Kagome and Sango exchanged a glance at his little act.

Akiko only smiled, "hold on." She let go of the voice button and pressed the one next to it. Outside, the large black gate creaked open slowly. Miroku welcomed them with a smile and bow. Kagome went past him with out a word, but Sango waited for him.

"Akiko?" she raised a brow.

"Don't worry, she's way too old." Miroku smirked.

They walked placidly up the bluish gravel driveway, Kagome's and Sango's heads going ever which way. Miroku walked up the lane bored as ever, use to it all. He had known Inuyasha practically all his life and the riches and glamour had no more effect on Inuyasha as it had on him.

"Look at those flower beds! They make my mother's look like weeds," Sango whined.

"But do they have the care your mother gives to hers? Or the giant rose bushes in a beautiful shade of red that goes great with your eyes?" Miroku winked at his girlfriend, and wrapped a gentle hand around her waist.

Sango blushed, her own roses blooming under her cheeks. "That was so sweet!"

"Anything for you Koi," Miroku sighed contently as Sango leaned into him, charmed beyond words, and placed her own arm around his waist. He tilted his head and leaned it on top of hers.

From the back, Kagome watched this little scene with some envy. But she smiled warmly nonetheless. Now if Inuyasha would do that…

As they neared the giant polished oak doors of the entrance, Akiko opened the doors expectantly, and stopped in surprise at the sight of Miroku Houshi, a boy she had known since he was 8 and turned `girl concentrated' at 12, with a pretty girl, hand wrapped around her lovingly. That look on his face, she thought she'd never see it on a boy like him. She smiled as they neared, noticing how clam and relaxed the couple was, and her pride grew for her adopted nephew. So he finally found someone.

"Hey there boy, O'genki desu ka?" Akiko asked warmly at the welcome boy.

"Genki. Akiko, this is my girlfriend, Sango. Behind me is Inuyasha's girl, Kagome. Guys this is Akiko, the head maid and surrogate mother here." Miroku grinned as Akiko gave him a warning glare.

"Stop making me sound old, boy. Hajimemashite Sango, Kagome. Come on in." Akiko opened the door wide for them to enter.

Kagome and Sango stepped in and gasped. Miroku smiled smugly. The entrance hall was massive, probably the largest room in the house. Coral marble gleamed along the floor, and the ceiling came up in a dome, with a sunburst painted on the top. The chandelier Kagome saw from outside lit the room evenly, giving a warm feeling not a fake one. Two staircases started from the middle, curved in and connected before going either way on the second floor. The carpet on it looked never used. Doorways opened to either side of the house. The girls ogled the room in awe. Akiko wanted to giggle.

They heard the clicks of footsteps coming from the right. Sesshomaru entered the hall, fixing a cuff on his flawless Italian tailored suit; pin strips on black making him look professional. He looked up and came into eye contact with a very curious Kagome. The brow of his stoic face perked up, gold eyes taking an interest.

"Akiko, who are our guests?" Sesshomaru's cool voice flowed through the hall.

`He's made for this place' Kagome thought.

Akiko bowed slightly, "master Sesshomaru, this is Sango, a friend of Miroku's, and Kagome, a friend of inuyasha's. They came to visit his highness." She couldn't stop the sarcasm from dripping.

Sesshomaru's lips tugged up, and returned his gaze to his little brother's friends. He took notice of how familiar Houshi and his girl was, the contented air filtering around them. The girl, Sango, looked petite, but the nerved look in her eyes showed she had backbone. He switched to Kagome. She was pretty no doubt, but no push over. The semi bored look she wore told him she wasn't impressed too much. His eyes softened a tad as he thought of how good she might be for his brother. Ever since the night of that dance, he had to admit, Inuyasha wasn't causing as much trouble. He also had to admit, if his was Inuyasha's age again, he wouldn't mind being held in line by a pretty girl.

"Ah yes, Kagome, I've heard so much about you," he shook her hand truthfully,

"Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's older brother."

"Yeah, and I've heard about you too," Kagome cracked a smile. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure. Akiko, has Kiro brought the Jag around yet?"

"He should be there now, sir," Akiko answered.

"Well, if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend," Sesshoamru nodded to the introduced girls and Miroku. He walked out, his silver hair billowing as he opened and closed the door.

Kagome and Sango stared at the door for a second. Kagome turned to Miroku, "is he always like that?"

"Are you kidding? You just got royal treatment," Miroku snorted. "Come on, let's go find our favorite hanyou."

Miroku took them up the left side of the staircase and turned left. Kagome and Sango couldn't help but be awed by the lush carpet and fine architecture of the mansion. They approached a black painted door, and from inside they could hear they bass of a stereo. Miroku opened it with familiar boldness and was blasted by some Linkin Park. No wonder Inuyasha couldn't hear them coming.

Kagome entered his room and her eyebrows shot up. His room was very large, with what seemed like a circle dip in the middle. The dip had beanbags and pillows everywhere, a perfect hangout spot or just to be comfortable. The carpet was midnight blue and stretched to every corner. His huge bed was by the big windows, covered in rumpled dark sheets and one black comforter, black pillow ever which way. The windows had dark blue drapes hanging with silver curtain rods. A black reed curtain covered a door way to what she suspected was his closet. A silver painted desk held a good quality computer, in which the hanyou was concentrated on. A stereo on the other side pumped the rock group's music. Pictures and posters hung everywhere. Clothes had yet to be picked up.

Inuyasha had been reading an article on the Internet when a very pleasant scent swept his nose. Her turned to find Miroku and the girls waiting patiently. His chest fluttered nervously as Kagome scanned his room with a frown.

"Do you ever clean your own room?" she snapped.

Inuyasha smirked, "only when something moves."

She laughed and rolled her eyes.

"You have a very beautiful house Inuyasha," Sango commented nervously.

He waved his hand at her, "don't start with that, I hate it. I only live here cause I'm not legal age."

"Well, no matter," Kagome said and walked up give her hanyou a kiss. It was mean to be a peck, but he pulled her close and pressed his lips passionately against hers. She pulled away laughing.

"Come on lover boy, where's the kitchen? I'm starving," Miroku said dryly.

As Inuaysha led them out, he held up two fingers, "there are two aspects to your mind, food and women."

"I thought that was every guy," Sango batted at him.

The friends chatted and laughed playfully as they headed to the kitchen. The girls only took notice for a second of the spotless white tiled and silver kitchen before heading for the fridge.

"No wait! I have a better idea!" Kagome chirped and opened the freezer. To her pleasure, there was three gallons of chocolate, cookie dough, and mint. She pulled them out and set them on the counter. Inuyasha, catching the idea, opened the pantry and grabbed gummy bears, sprinkles, marshmallows, cherries, and chocolate and toffee syrup. Kagome went back and found the whipped cream. Since he knew his way around, Miroku grabbed some bowls and spoons. They stood at the counter, all four them reaching over each other when necessary, and playfully made themselves some sundaes. Sango threw a gummy bear at Kagome, and Kagome threw it back. This ended up in a giggling candy fight, marshmallows and gummy bears going everywhere. They only stopped when Inuaysha threatened to cover them in chocolate syrup. So they sat at the kitchen's table, eating ice cream covered in treats, and poke fun at each other, sometimes acting like idiots and said the dumbest things. Inuyasha whispered to Kagome, and made her gasp then giggle. Under the table, his sprayed whipped cream in his hand.

"Hey Miroku?" he grinned. Miroku turned form talking to Sango.

Only to have a handful of cream shoved into his face. They laughed hysterically as

Miroku cursed Inuyasha out. Sango got up and got some paper towels.

The little ice cream party over, they wandered over the house for a little while, Miroku still whipping his nose to see if any cream got up there.

"Why don't we watch a movie?" Sango suggested.

"Sure!" Kagome replied.

"Okay. Besides, they got this big ass entertainment system down the hall," Miroku supplied, only getting confused when Inuyasha glared at him. The poor boy just didn't understand the stress the hanyou was in.

Inuyasha had been nervous about this whole thing since the day Kagome suggested it. He had no idea how she would react to his being rich thing. But to his surprise, it was like it was nothing to her. She just didn't care. And the first thing they did was cause a mess in the kitchen (which Akiko and the chef were going to raz him about) with sundaes. But he only groaned inwardly as Kagome dragged him down the hall. She gasped when they entered.

It looked almost like a theatre. The walls were dark red, and a giant cloth screen hung at the end of the room. Shelves of movies and shows lined the right wall. A mini popcorn machine sat in the corner with all the right materials. Big comfy leather couches were set in rows at an angle in front of the screen.

"This is awesome!" Kagome cried. Excited, she went right over to the popcorn machine.

"You guys pick a movie, I'll make popcorn."

"You're still hungry?" Sango whined.

"Can't have a movie without popcorn!" Kagome replied.

As the machine popped to life, the gang scanned the shelves. Sango gasped and got excited.

"Hey Kagome! We haven't seen this yet!"

"What?" Kagome came back with a huge bowl of popcorn, munching occasionally.

Sango sweatdropped, "how you eat this much and still look good I can't figure out,"

"Genes," Kagome grinned, "so what is it?"

Sango held it up and Kagome gasped. Together, "Gothika!"

As the girls hurried and put the disk in the DVD player, Inuyasha raised a brow, "you guys still haven't seen it yet?"

They shook their heads and headed to the couches. The light automatically dimmed as they player read the disk. The projector above their heads came to life and showed the options screen. With the remote Inuyasha pressed play. Miroku and Sango took the couch closer to the screen, and Inuaysha and Kagome behind them. The couple in front snuggled, and Inuyasha put his arm around Kagome. She snuggled closer with her bowl. He just marveled in her rich scent so close to him.

The girls watched wide-eyed as Hallie (sp?) Berry was attacked by the girl in the road, and woke up in the mental clinic she use to work. Inuyasha felt Kagome jump when Sango screamed at the scene where the girl ghost popped up behind Hallie in her cell. They were very surprised at the ending. (this is all personal experience. If you saw that scene too, you know everyone around you jumped too)

As the movie ended, the light came back on.

"Ano wa cho-kakko ii! (that was so cool!)" Kagome cheered.

"Put on another!" Sango piped up. Miroku got up and racked the shelves. He grinned to himself as he passed one. "I hope your not thinking what I think your thinking hentai!"

He only laughed, "Wouldn't dream it."

Miroku stopped and pulled `The Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Ring' out, and put it in the player. They've all seen it, but it was more to pass the time. As the light dimmed again, Miroku cuddled in with Sango. Inuyasha slouched more and Kagome rested on his chest. Half way in, Inuyasha could tell with his covered ears (it was basically habit now to wear a hat) that Miroku and Sango fell asleep, their breathing even. Only he and Kagome were awake. She shifted on his chest to get comfortable and he was brought back to the fact that her hair was almost under his nose. He tilted his head slightly and was buried in her scent. He felt his muscle go slack and relaxed, and a warm wave washed over him. He loved her scent. It was so rich and complex. He could get lost in her scent forever. He had never smelled anything like this before, and he never wanted it to go away. On its own, his hand starting stroking her back lightly. She sighed in contentment.

Kagome's eyes were glued to the screen, but she was in lala land right now. Being so close to him made her feel so good and warm. She could smell soap and faint cologne, not too much cause of his nose. She sighed as his hand stroked her back. `This is nice…'

She closed her eyes. They opened slightly as she heard his heart pick up and his breathing relax. Snuggling close, she wrapped an arm around his chest; not knowing it pushed her hair close to his face. His heart skipped a beat, and pink tinted his cheeks. It took everything he had to not just sweep her up and do all sort of things to her. But he wasn't too sure if she'd like that, so he calmed down. But he had to do something.

He brought a hand to her chin and tilted her head up to meet her curious eyes. They were just so dark and calm, drawing him. Lets see how to rile those depths. Slowly, he brought his lips to hers, causing her heart shot up to her throat. It was innocent at first, but when she wrapped her arms around his neck, she instinctually pushed him on. He responded, and leaned down to the soft couch, his body pushing down lightly. She gasped as her body woke up to his touch, and felt the beginning heat in her gut. She gasped as he nipped her bottom lip, parting them. Slightly surprised, her lips parted and his tongue boldly explored her mouth. Getting into it, she tentatively slide her tongue over his, getting a slight moan from him.

What she was doing to him, he didn't know. All Inuyasha knew was that he needed more. A shock went through his body as Kagome teasingly slide her tongue into his mouth, deepening the kiss. (this is now an official make out!) His hand fisted in her raven locks and pressed harder into the kiss. Instincts taking over, his hands roamed over her sides and hips. She moaned as his hand slipped under her shirt and brought her close. He felt her bra strap but didn't dare, so he kneaded the muscles of her back. As tantalizing waves swept through Kagome, she surprised him by coming up to meet him groin to groin, and breathed out a moan and he pushed her further into the palpable sofa. Heat generated like live wires between them. He groaned as her small hands fisted in his silky hair. They only paused for breath for a second. Kagome slide one hand through his collar and down his lean broad shoulders, her cool fingers sending goose bumps along his skin. It went unnoticed when her other hand combed through his hair to under his hat, where it paused in curiosity.

Kagome fingers traced over triangle objects, furry to the touch. One jump when she rubbed it. He moaned. Curiosity killed the cat. Quick so he couldn't stop her, she snatched the hat back. And gasped, eyes wide. There on top of his head, were two little furry white dog-ears. Probably this cutest thing she's ever seen.

Inuyasha froze when she stopped responding to his touch. His senses coming back, he couldn't feel anything covering his head. He looked into her eyes to find surprise. She was looking at the top of his head. He gulped.
