CHAPTER 11: FIGHTING SECRETS AND LAUGHING PASSION
Kagome didn't notice how Inuyasha's face paled, or the horrified look that came upon his face. She just lay there fascinated to no end. They sat behind his bangs, two dog-ears with the pointed tips, furry on the outside, and pink on the inside. It never once crossed her mind that that was why he wore hats all the time, but more along the lines of what they felt like.
But she didn't get the chance, seeing as Inuyasha all but jumped off her like he was on fire. She sat there staring into space for but a second, then sat up quickly to see his fast retreating back down the hall.
"Inuyasha?" she called softly. Reason slowly crept back up on her, making her gasp in realization. "Inuyasha! Wait!"
He only went faster up the stairs at her voice, and a slam could be heard on the second floor.
By this time, enough noise was made to wake a peaceful Miroku, Sango snuggled comfortably by his side. When Kagome called for Inuaysha a second time, he all but jumped out of his sink, mumbling something about `it's not what you think'. When he looked back, he saw Kagome standing by the door, hand slightly reaching out down the hall. He brows furrowed in concern, and he slide out from under the grumbling Sango, who woke when her head lightly hit the couch. Sango looked up to see Miroku walking up to a still Kagome, her shoulders drooped. Uh-oh.
"Kagome?" Miroku placed a hand on her shoulder and peered upon her face. His level of concern went up. She looked lost, forlorn, her eyes unexplainably regretful. She turned to him with tears pooled in her eyes.
"I didn't mean to…I was just curious…" she trailed off to look down the hall.
"Kagome, what happened?" Sango came up to her other side, worry written all over her face.
"His ears…" she whispered.
Miroku's eyes widened and he slapped his forehead. "Kagome, how did you find out?"
Kagome seemed to snap to attention and blushed as she remembered what they were doing precisely before she snatched the hat. "Well…we-we were…kind of close and~"
"Okay you were making out, then what?" Sango slapped Miroku on the arm from behind Kagome's back.
"I just, took his hat off. It was getting annoying and I felt something under there…but…I didn't know it was a secret! Then he just ran off." Kagome finished.
Cursing under his breath, Miroku rubbed a hand over his face tiredly. "Listen, I'll go talk to him, explain what happened~"
"Iie, I'll go," Kagome stated, determination filling her eyes. What is with him and his damned secrets? First the house and now this. What else is he hiding from her? She paused half way up the stairs, fear clenching her chest. What if…she never found out? What if he never wanted to see her again? No, she told herself, he's talking whether he likes it or not. Their relationship comes after. Enthused over again, she continued on her way to Inuyasha's room.
Miroku and Sango watched her go, confusion for Sango, worry for Miroku. He hadn't expected this. He had expected her to scream and run out the house yelling something about freaks. That would have been a lot worse. But no, she wanted to talk to him and make it right. Miroku shook his head at Sango's questions.
"Leave them be, and no I won't tell, it's not my place. Besides it's their first fight, let them have it."
Kagome stood outside the black doors that led to Inuyasha's room. She clasped her shirtfront in dread and worry. I can't believe I did that! I should have let him tell me in his own time, not just all of a sudden kill my curiosity. It was his business, not mine. Anxiety shaking her hand she reached down to the knob.
"Go away," a muffled voice said, his venom dripping from every word. She winced at his tone, but turned the knob nonetheless. She let the door swing open and stood in the doorway.
"Inuyasha?"
"I said go away. I don't want to see you." He heard her breath cut short and cursed himself mentally. He hated to do this but he couldn't take it. He was a freak and he knew it, and she'd never be interested in him again. He knew her enough that she wouldn't tell anyone, but he couldn't take any looks she'd give him now. His chest was still open, and any more wounds would put his defenses up. And those weren't very nice. He only buried his head in his pillow deeper, trying to block out her marvelous scent.
She felt the tears threatening but held them back. He had turned off the lights, and was wallowing under one of his pillows on his bed. He told her to leave, that he didn't want to see her. As much as it hurt, her commonsense wouldn't be heard, and she stepped forward. And then again, then thrice.
"Didn't you hear me? I don't want to see you!"
"Well that's too bad, cause I want to talk to you," she said, anger rising. The nerve!
"What? Just so you tell me that I'm a freak and never want to see me again? Sorry but I've heard it before," came his muffled response, his pillow in the verge of suffocating him.
Her teeth gritted, and she stepped faster into the room. "Excuse me? Just whom do you think your talking to? And all this time, I thought you knew me. When would I ever say that? Hm? Tell me, I'm dying to know."
Her snotty little remark was all that was needed for his temper to take a turn. He threw the pillow across the room and slide from the end of the bed. Without him knowing, she was about three feet from it, so they were practically face-to-face. "All the other people I know say it, why not you? What makes you better?"
Heat kindled in her eyes, "for one, I'm not every one else. And two, I'm not that type of person. What about Miroku? He doesn't care, why can't I?"
Inuyasha's ears lay back flat as his ire rose. "Because you're my girlfriend, your suppose to be freaked out~"
"Oh, is that right?" she snapped voice rising, "and is that why you didn't tell me about your family too? About this mansion and your brother and you freakin' huge bank account? You thought I would just freak and use you to my whim? And what about your ears, why haven't you told me about them?"
"You don't understand~"
"I don't UNDERSTAND!," she gasped, "me, a person who's seen more demons, though pathetic, in a few years than another human being in their entire life? Me, a person who has a hanyou for a boyfriend, a grandfather whose trying to get me to be this great miko like my ancestors, and lives in a shrine that's littered with all sorts of embarrassing history? And `I' don't `understand'?"
Inuyasha gave her a nervous glance and his legs were pushed back into his bed as she neared, eyes furious, cheeks red. "Kagome, its different for me, I've had a difficult life~"
"You?! So you think you're the only one who can grab attention with embarrassing situations and heart breaking stories? Let me tell you something bub, your not the only one who's had it hard. While you live in your comfortable mansion with servants, I was forced to be something I didn't want to and grow up before I was ready! You think its easy taking care of a little boy when his mother wouldn't pay attention to him cause she's mourning her husband? You think its easy trying to dish out comfort and explain to a little boy why his father isn't coming back? You think its easy taking care of a shrine because then your grandfather too has become sick? Well guess what, its not, and I know, because I did it. So the next time you think your life has been hard think again!" with the final word, Kagome turned on her heel and went to storm out. But a strong hand grabbed arm and whirled her around to meet an enraged hanyou.
"My life hasn't been a fucking piece of cake either wench! Let me ask you, do you think its easy having your father die cause no one can cure him at the age of three? And then have your mother die three years later because she can't take the world anymore? Do you think it was easy for Sesshoumaru to come and tell me in kind words that my mother has wasted away to nothing and she's not coming back? Do you think it was easy having to grow up and have people stare at you cause you've got strange ears? Because you're a filthy half breed? Well? You can't say, cause you don't know, so don't go comparing your life when you don't know mine."
"And whose fault is that," she hissed at him, "you never tell me anything! And I've let it slide, but now I feel as if I can't be trusted. Is that why you keep secrets cause you don't trust me? You don't, do you?"
"That you have the audacity to say that just shows how much you don't know," he narrowed his eyes at her and felt a good growl coming on.
"I don't know cause you don't tell me! Just tell me something! Just tell me your rich, I don't care! Just tell about the cute little white fuzzy ears in top of your head! Don't make a difference!"
This time he did growl, "don't call them cute, it makes me sound like a puppy."
And at this Kagome was brought back to the fact of his ears. She looked up and saw them, alert in anger, sharp and refined like a wolf's. It didn't matter that they were cute, or they were white and fuzzy. They were there. And she realized, they belonged there. They went perfectly with his dark look, the anger in his eyes snapping. They went perfectly with his one exposed fang, his tense muscles, and his sexy snarl. He was right, they weren't cute. They were right. They added something she had looked over. They added wilderness to him, and a pull that she didn't know could be real. It was primitive, and alluring. And she liked it. The familiar curl of warmth in her lower region went unnoticed, and her fingers inched to touch them.
Inuyasha waited for her to snap something witty at him, to yell something and run away. But he didn't expect her to lunge.
Now, you have to understand, Kagome is innocent to an extent, where she won't go as far as sex yet. But the curiosities of touching and kissing with Inuyasha had given her a sharp turn in the hormone section. She liked his touches and she liked his kisses. Probably liked them more than she should, but no body needed to know that. And all the while, tension had built up, her hormones put on stop time and again, collecting to the breaking point. And now it chose the breaking point.
For the second time in their relationship, the first being the night of the dance, she jumped his ass. She jumped him like a fucking cat in heat. And scared the hell out of Inuyasha. Now, when you see a sexually enraged female heading you way, you better be careful. Cause half of her knows what she's doing, and the other is pure heat waiting to get out. And that my friends, is a dangerous combination.
So like I said, she jumped him, making his eyes go wide and freeze in surprise. She firmly planted her hot lips over his, and took advantage of his shock to push her way into his mouth. Of course, stopping at the foot a bed is a bad place to be. Cause you just fall. They landed with a bounce on his bed, Kagome ravishing Inuyasha's mouth in tongue torture, Inuyasha taking a second to respond. But when he did, oh, all hell broke loose.
She straddled his stomach, and worked her way down his throat, leaving searing licks and nips along the way. Not to be outdone, Inuyasha fisted her hair and brought her back up to work some magic of his own. His heart raced as her tongue traced one of his fangs erotically, and he took the opportunity to switch positions, trapping her under him. Kagome let out short gasps as she felt his tongue slide down her throat, burning her skin off, and did a nice little trick on her collarbone. She shivered as he scraped a fang along her shoulder. She didn't care that the door was open and anyone could hear. She just cared about the way Inuyasha flicked her earlobe with his tongue, or the way his mouth left her hungry for more. Going on instinct, she reached up and grasped one of the owner's self hated ears and started rubbing circles on the inside. She heard his breath catch, and a rumbling flowed out his mouth, in what could have been a rough purr. But in the next second, his mouth found hers again and poured all he was worth into driving her crazy. It worked as she let out a loud moan when his hand smoothed over her buttock and nipped her bottom lips.
"Oh my God! We're so sorry!" Sango squeaked at the door and quickly shut it. The sound caught the enraptured couple's attention, and Kagome screamed in surprise. Outside, a wide-eyed Sango placed a hand over her racing heart, and looked across the hall to find Miroku having trouble with his breathing. Covering his madly smiling face, he slide down the wall to his butt and had a good quiet laugh. Before long, tears rolled out his eyes. Sango placed a hand over her own grin, and seemed to have trouble holding off her giggles.
Inside, Kagome and Inuyasha, stared at the closed door in shock. Then looked at each other. Since she couldn't help it, a smile cracked over her face and snorting giggles escaped. Inuyasha tucked his head in her shaking shoulder, hiding his grin. Not a second later, the two were laughing their freakin' heads off madly. Inuyasha rolled off of Kagome, clutching his stomach in pain, and Kagome was too weak to move. Tears wouldn't stop despite their attempts to wipe them away, and air was soon in short supply. When they both calmed down, staring at the ceiling, they tried to gain their breath.
"Weren't ~ we ~ suppose to~ be fighting?" Kagome gasped, panting.
"We were?" Inuyasha panted back.
They merely turned their heads and looked at each other. And again, air was in short supply.
