InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Drama of Edo High: A Modern Tale ❯ Intermission to Plan ( Chapter 12 )
CHAPTER 12: INTERMISSION TO PLAN
With the ear incident under control, the couple had walked out of his room to find their friends nearly unconscious on the floor, faces red as tomatoes. When they saw Kagome and Inuyasha, they broke out again into a fit of laughter. However, a glare and a few bumps put them back in place. Life went on as usual. Home life, school life, a separate life for homework, dates, making out, school sports starting, some food fights between the boys at lunch, more making out, and the every day life of a teenager. But Kagome had one advantage. She got to rub Inuyasha's, rendering him helpless to her touch. Giggles followed, then a growl, and then…well, I'll let you decide.
Fall was leaving the last leaves on the trees, its attempts to blow them off futile, and left it for winter to handle. The November nights were crisp cold, and frosty winds whipped at faces, flushing cheeks red and making noses run. The last of mums were fading, and frost now appeared on glass at night. Flurries had whipped by, but left no hope of snow for wishful children. And Kagome's sixteen years was coming to an end. In just two weeks, she'd officially be seventeen, and have the right to a driver's license. Hm, dangerous thinking. Who knows what would happen with her temper.
Kagome pondered this as she sat by her window, a cup of hot cider in her hands, Shippo curled on her feet. The night winds lashed at her window and had trees shaking to the root. Sipping cider, she smiled slightly at the expense of her friend. Sango was more excited about than she was. Coming closer to the day of her birthday, Sango bounced with energy. "We're gonna throw you a party, and get you drunk, and push Inuyasha and you into a room alone for the night…" and on and on. Of course Kagome only laughed and told Sango not to make a big deal out it. It was only a birthday, another reminder that high school was closing and college looked pretty good. But of course, she let Sango rant. She stared into her drink as her mind wandered. She didn't expect gifts, but she wouldn't mind them. She knew Sango would get one, with Miroku's help, no matter what. That girl was obsessed about making people happy. But she wondered, what of Inuyasha? Would he get her something? Or just wish her happy birthday and kiss her? Well, if it was a good kiss then she wouldn't mind, but it had to be worthwhile to count. He hadn't hinted to a gift, but it would be nice. Just another insight to how he felt.

Inuyasha waited by her locker, growing impatient as she grew later. Where in the hell was the wench? She should have been there by now. He stared at his Tims, just a little wet thanks to the storm last night, causing puddles. He scratched his ears through the torque he wore, which had to match his sweater. Though manly, he was vain. So deep in his anxiety, he didn't notice the scent of wilted flowers until it was in his face. With a growl, his head snapped up to face Kikyou. She gave him a raised brow and a sly smile.
"Why so worried Inuyasha? Waiting for your wench? You've seem to have grown close," Kikyou purred. "If you wanted a plaything Inuyasha, I was always available."
His eyes heated in anger, but he kept his cool, "sorry, but I don't like used goods."
Her spine snapped straight and she gave him a cold glare. She turned on her heel but gave the last word. "But I'm not as naive as her, and could do better then she could. I wonder if that's the leash that she has on you."
Inuyasha's temper flared and he was about ready to smack the little bitch to abstinence when Sango's friend, Miru, stepped up to him.
She sent a glare in Kikyou's direction. "Don't bother, she is most definitely not worth it. Here, Sango said to give this to you. She said it was a reminder."
Handing the note over, Miru smiled and continued down the hall. Inuyasha snorted to himself. She was right. The frozen bitch wasn't worth it. But if she didn't hold her tongue about Kagome's modesty, she'll find it missing form her mouth. Frowning, he opened the note.
`What are you waiting for baka! Kagome's birthday is in a few days, and you still have no gift. Use your connections or something, but it seems Kagome's looking for a little something from you. A gift or `otherwise' I don't know.'
He frowned some more at the note as he crumbled it. Damn it, he knew when Kagome's birthday was! He didn't need her to remind him of that. He just…didn't know what to get. Kagome wasn't materialistic; she valued sentiment more than the value. But, he wanted to get something for her, really he did. He just didn't know what. Maybe he should ask Miroku-no! No, I don't think so. Though hooked and anchored, Miroku could still be perverted, even if it was in his mind. The boy thought more about sex than all of them combined. More than the school he believed. Good thing Sango was strong willed, otherwise, she would have fell to the lecher's kind words and charming smiles. But then again, Miroku wouldn't have given her a second look. But that still left the question unanswered. What should he get Kagome?
"Hi Koinu!" Kagome panted to her locker and spun the lock. A few turns and it popped open.
Inuyasha groaned slightly, "do you have to call me that?"
"Only when nobody can hear," Kagome smirked and hastily tore through her locker. She had to make it before the bell rang.
Inuyasha noticed her hurry and raised his brow. "Could you go any faster? I don't think enough papers were crammed illegible."
She gave him a dry glance. "I have to make it to computers before the bells rings, I have to hand in a late assignment. Ah-ha!"
Triumphant, Kagome pulled out a packet and stuffed it in her bag. Slamming her locker, she gave him a quick peck before she hurried down the halls. Inuyasha watched her go a bit worried. She looks tired, and stressed. And knowing her she woke up late and didn't have breakfast, making her cranky until lunch. Man school was a pain. If only she could take some time away, relax. But she'd just laugh and get right to work again. She needed a rest from the work, sometimes like Sesshomaru. At least Sesshomaru took the rest…wait a second! That's it! Inuyasha smiled as an idea of the perfect gift formed in his head. Yeah, all he had to do was ask his big brother and have a few strings pulled. He grinned. He so hoped he got a good kiss for this. Pondering happily to himself, he stalked to PE, where Miroku was waiting.

Sango sat on her bedroom floor, clippings and glue everywhere. Well just the clippings were everywhere. Construction paper had found its way into her hair, and she wiped her hand on a rag. She smiled as she cut another picture out, remembering when it was taken.
She applied it to the page, along with a few prepared decorations. A couple of hours later, she held up the album with a satisfied grin. She had made the cover herself too. She had always been handy with crafts, and the talent showed. Sighing at the sentimental feelings in her chest, roused when reviewing pictures, and carefully laid the book in tissue paper. Placing the card on top she put it in a safe for the morning. Kagome is so going to love this…

Inuyasha hurried to his room in a beaming mood. Akiko's eyes followed the bright boy all the way to his room. She blinked at his cheerfulness. Now what in the world had gotten into him?
Not what had gotten into him, but what came to him. He held the envelope up and he grinned. Right now, Sesshomaru was the greatest person on the planet. Inuyasha didn't even need to thank him, Sesshomaru just laughed and waved the energetic boy off, saying that his brightened mood made all the difference. Inuyasha could have hugged him, but that would have embarrassed both of them and dampen the moment. But with no further words, Inuyasha almost ran to his room and up to his desk. On it was a very nice card, the calligraphy done on hand made paper. Opening the arrived package, he took out the two pamphlet like papers and put them in the card, his handwriting already expressing his intent. Licking the seal, he pressed it closed and wrote Kagome's name in his best handwriting, which was really good. He couldn't wait to see the look on her face.
