Chapter one, what friends are for.

The whole homecoming, wasn't as great as it would normally be in a family which just had been blessed with a child.

No the Watanabe household was quiet and depressed, no female lived there - so maybe that was why.

Sesshoumaru had made InuYasha get a job - screw collage until he could pay for a baby sitter and someone who would help him take care of this problem.

The older male liked to call her a problem, as she didn't have a given name yet.

InuYasha felt that if he gave her one it was official, you know? Of course it was ridiculous and very childish, but back off okay? He was seventeen and his life was over - meaning no more girls and no more party.

Sitting down on his bed, InuYasha sighs deep glancing at the basket holding his daughter, who was currently asleep.

He'd sue the condom company, if he could - this was not suppose to happen, not to him especially.

Up til now, InuYasha had seen himself as a rebel someone who couldn't get in trouble because he was way to smart for that.

'Well smart my ass!' he cursed, he'd just done the most idiotic thing in his lifetime.

It was dark outside, and Sesshoumaru had yet to come back home from the company they had inherited from their parents, Tetsuiga & Tensuiga corporate.

It was a place where they made things for hospitals, ironically - incubators for babies who was prematurely born and other things, InuYasha didn't know much about it.

Someone of the nurses had given him a baby kit, just a few things to hold him over night until he could get more.

Opening the dark blue plastic bag, InuYasha spotted things he'd never seen before and things he knew what it was but refused to touch.

As he sat there scanning the content, his cell phone vibrated in his semi tight leather pant pocket. Picking it up and reading the number he felt a smile creep up on his face, Kirara.

"Hey girl" he answered softly, not wanting to wake the baby up.

"Yasha-baby!" a very feminine but slightly dark voice replied on the other end, sending a larger smile upon the half demons face.

Kirara was his best friend, seriously. She was a fiery cat demon with long blond hair that could turn bright red within seconds. Not reaching over his shoulder, she stood around 5'6, but always wearing high heels, which made her look taller.

Her eyes deep green and always glimmering with mischief and amusement, as they many of times sat making fun of the preps at school, she was a rebel like himself - a free spirit.

"I heard you have a kid, fuck Inu, how the hell did that happened?" That was Kirara for you, right on the money, not caring if she insulted you with the harsh biting truth.

InuYasha got up and walked around the room, until he reached his favorite recliner worn out by time but to damn comfortable to throw away.

"Yeah, got me one of those, bought it at the supermarket, figured I'd really love one they are so damn peachy," he replied sarcastically.

"How the fuck do you think babies are made Kira?"

His voice was dead of emotions now as she continued questioning him about this "Kikyou person", as she liked to call her.

"Sucks that your half demon Yasha, other wise you could have sex and not have to worry about a damn thing, but nooooo now you have to wait til you find your mate, fuck sweetie, your life sucks."

Her statement was blunt and somewhat cold if it wasn't for the sympathy and concern for his well fare in her voice and actions, she was like his sister.

"No fucking kidding, Kira I don't know what to do. Could you help me?" His plea could have ripped any woman's heart into shreds but Kirara wasn't just any woman, no she was his friend.

"Want me to come over?"

"Yeah" tears wasn't far from falling now, as he sat there gripping the cell phone close to his ear.

"I am coming, I'll pick some things up for the baby too and we can name her ok?"

"Sure."

"Sweetie, listen to me it'll be okay, I'll help."

"Thanks Kira, you're the best."

"Yeah I know," he could hear the grin she made on the other side of the phone, she was always so full of her self.

They hung up and InuYasha smiled a little, as the tears ran freely down his cheeks - thank God for Kirara.

One hour later...

Door bell rings, InuYasha dashes through the house still alone with the kid - he opens the door presenting his flame haired friend.

"Red today huh?" he joked, pointing at her hair with a raised eye brow.

"Yeah you know, shit happens" she leans up kissing his cheek, handing him a big red sports bag of stuff and two grocery brown paper ones.

When Kirara meant shit happens, it meant that she got pissed off at something and her hair color changed - it was odd but it was almost as if when her body started boiling over with lava, so did her hair.

"What's in here?" he inquired as they made their way down the dark hallway leading to his room.

"Baby stuff" she explained, taking off her brown leather jacket as they walked.

If it wasn't for the whole best friend thing, InuYasha probably would have pounced this little woman walking beside him a long time ago, if they never had became friends, that is.

Knowing perfectly well, now, that if he had she probably would have knocked him out cold, no one messed with Kirara Kaneko.

They had been best friends for years now, since they were like ten or nine years old. It had started in the sandbox - tossing sand into each others hair and developed into a team, one who could do anything together. (AN: Not THAT, perverts >.<)

Tossing the red bag on the floor and placing the grocery ones on his desk, InuYasha proceeded looking them through as Kirara made her way over to the basket holding the little girl.

"Oh God Yasha, she's a beauty! She'll be a killer you know, you'll have to fence off the boys that'll line up for her attention." The cat demon said as she picked up a wide awake baby girl.

InuYasha smirked, "That's just what I thought when I saw her.

But Kira, I don't think I can do this, seriously I don't know how to and there is little I can give to someone else except myself, I feel so fucking helpless."

Kirara placed the baby back into the basket, before making her way over to her best friend, who sat on the floor holding one of her own old baby toys.

"My mom sent those, she thought you might have use for em," dropping down to the floor so she could face him, she placed a well manicured hand on his cheek.

"Yasha, you're the strongest person I know, if anyone can do it, you can!"

Taking her hand in his much larger one, he looked up from the toy he held into her green eyes, "Keh, will you help me?"

A smile graced her always red puckered lips, "'course baby, we'll do it together, besides you have more friends and you know it, so you're not alone."

Hugging her tight, InuYasha could hear the baby gurgling up on his bed gaining his attention.

"I think she's hungry," the girl spoke, standing up after being released from her friends embrace.

"How you know?" he didn't know any of that stuff, and could use any stupid hint or tip available.

"I just know."

"Keh."

"Now, now Yasha come hold your baby and I show you how to make this formula."

InuYasha who had yet to hold his daughter felt scared all of the sudden, what if he did something wrong? Held her to tight or broke her damn neck, she looked to fragile and small.

"I can smell your fear Yasha, now come here and hold her. Don't be scared she's not going to die if you pick her up!" Kirara rolled her eyes, but could understand why InuYasha was feeling the way he was.

The cat demon demonstrated how to do it the 'correct' way and then let him try, oddly it came natural as he picked up his daughter, she stopped gurgling and stared up at him with her golden orbs.

A strange feeling of those damn bubbles surged through him again, as he now held her steady in his muscular arms.

"Damn Yasha, I know a way for you to get good money and fast!" Kirara nearly exploded out of joy as she jumped up and down in front of him.

"What are you talking about?"

The red haired girl twirled around a few warps before explaining herself, "you could model! With the baby! You know for a parent magazine! And I know the perfect one at that too! I know the guy who owns it and he owes my mom a favor!"

InuYasha could only stare at the girl before him, her hair was turning back to blonde - he guessed because the idea really excited her in a happy kind of way.

"Why would I do that?" he asked as she made her way over to her jacket, for her cell phone, he guessed.

"Five cash fingers Yasha,"

"Five?" He gapped, damn he could use that money.

"Do what you gotta do," he commanded her as he made his way over to the red bag with the toys.

As he picked up a blue teddy bear, he could hear his friends voice speak into her phone to someone, making some appointment.

After a few minutes, Kirara beamed up at him as he placed the teddy in front of the baby, who just looked really curiously at it.

"I brought you a baby book too, but might not be so accurate since it's a half demon baby I don't know if they are different."

She spoke softly now as InuYasha's daughter seemed to fall back asleep, the eye lids hanging heavy over her golden orbs.

"I can always ask Sesshoumaru." Even if the brothers didn't always get along, InuYasha knew he could count on his brother, he was well educated and knew a lot about demons and such.

Kirara nodded and headed to the blue plastic bag on the bed, the one he'd gotten from the hospital. Spilling everything she proceeded telling him what everything was and how to use em.

"You know how to change a diaper?" she asked with a slightly amused voice, knowing well he didn't.

"Keh, you know I don't."

"Where were you during health class anyway?" she scolded him as she told him they had a assignment to change a diaper one time on plastic dolls.

Of course he had missed that time, being busy banging some girl in the 'secret' room at school he liked to use when 'things' came up (literally.)

"Someone should have chopped that off when they had a chance too," his friend chided, pointing with a pink baby bottle at the middle part of his black leather pants.

It was an awful way to remind him of his mistake and hormone problem, but the mistake was done and all he could do now was to live up to his promise.

They walked into the kitchen, where Kirara showed the white haired boy how to make the formula and how often. Also showing later how to feed and then burp the baby, telling him this was very important - she'd puke all over him otherwise, or worse - die choking on it.

Neither of the options sounded pleasant as they continued the lesson and more facts came up, that scared the hell out of him.

Babies were more fragile then he thought, he would need to keep a keen eye on the little rascal, currently sleeping on a full belly in his arms.

"I think she already knows who her daddy is," Kirara whispered softly gazing down at the baby, as they sat down in the couch in the dim lit living room.

"Keh, of course she does," InuYasha replied, feeling a swell of pride in his chest.

"Cocky ass," the cat demon smirked at his statement, her eyes twinkled with amusement. Somehow she knew this would all just work out perfectly fine.

"So what are we naming her?"

"Do we have to?"

"Stupid ass, `course we do," Kirara hissed - knowing the drawling was because a name would make it official.

"I don't know what to name her, what do you think?"

"You're asking me? Seriously?" The cat demon beamed, naming a kid was something every girl dreamed about, well almost everyone.

The hanyou smiled back the best he could, he really didn't want this shit but knew he couldn't back out a little nine months to late.

"Sesshoumaru will be expecting a name tonight, so he can fax the papers back to the hospital."

Kirara pondered for a bit, biting her red lip concentrating - got to make it good if it's just a one shot thing.

"How about Sorano?"

Inuyasha quirked a brow at this "from the sky?"

Kirara smiled brightly at him, "yeah you know, she came out of the blue so to speak."

He thought about this for a moment before nodding, "Sorano will be fine."

They both gazed down at the little infant in InuYasha's strong arms, both thinking the same thing 'welcome to the world little Sorano.'
