Chapter two, joggling things can turn deadly.

InuYasha ran as fast as he could up the flight of stairs leading to the math class, he was going to be late - really late.

The morning had started out good, he had gotten up, got Sorano out of her crib, got some breakfast in them both - for him toast for her formula.

Then everything went bad.

He couldn't locate his boots, his car keys or Sorano's winter jacket.

It had been six months now since he was told he was a father, six months since Kikyou died and made him promise.

Kirara had helped as much as possible, but it was tight for her as well as she had also school, a job and had to pay bills because she lived with her half sister and half brother - Sango and Kohaku.

Turning eighteen in a few days didn't exactly make InuYasha happy either, there was no way he'd have a choice to party or whatever, no he had to stay home with his kid.

"InuYasha, wait up," a female voice rang from behind. He mentally cursed for not looking his best, when he knew who the voice belonged to - the transfer student, Tina.

She was probably the hottest girl, he'd ever seen and never got to bang.

Standing around 5'11 she was a tall brown haired beauty with killer legs and two shining light blue eyes.

He stopped and turned, putting on his sexy wolfish smile that always got girls knees shaking - this being no exception.

"H-hi!" she breathed out, he could smell how nervous she was and aroused by his Godly appearance.

"Hi," he smirked, winking a golden orb at her while taking her curves and long legs in slowly.

Of course, she notices, they all do eventually.

Blushing ten shades of red, she turns to walk down the stairs again, knowing he'd just made her knees wobble.

"So...did you want something?" his voice low and hinting a seductive manner.

"I-I just wanted to say hi," he could smell she was lying, but then again they all were not wanting to spit it out like the slut their minds were.

But today, he really didn't want to play so he just turned and kept running back up the stairs.

InuYasha Watanabe walks into the math class, a good twenty minutes late.

Spotting a seat next to Kirara, he raises a brow and sits down - wondering why this seat was vacant.

But before he could ask his friend the teacher spoke up "So...Mr Watanabe, thanks for gracing us with your presents." Their math teach was a old man in his fifties, salt and pepper hair that was shaved short, but long enough to see the colors.

He always wore a black Tee and blue jeans, this day being no different.

Piercing the hanyou with his black eyes, InuYasha could only stare back - he knew it was coming, his punishment for being late.

"You'll stand up right now and show the rest of the class how to solve problems 124, 177 and 190."

'Thank God for an intelligent brain' he smirked inwardly.

His father had been one of the most intelligent men in Japan and his mother wasn't that dumb either.

Standing up, he walked across the room slightly swaying his hips - knowing the girls would sigh and look dreamy at him.

Sniffing the air, he confirmed that at least 90% of the girls got aroused by just that little stunt alone.

Grabbing the paper with the problems he snatched the chalk and started writing down the problems on the board.

After that he turned to the class, smirking like the devil himself.

This got the rest of the girls, with the exception of one - Kirara who just quirked a fine brow at him smirking back.

Proceeding telling the class how to solve these math issues, he got a standing ovation once it was completed.

"Settle down, settle down" the teacher said, catching the chalk the white haired boy tossed at him as he walked back to his seat - after bowing of course.

He knew InuYasha had the brains, even the looks - but hell did that kid have a problem, someone had informed him about his unexpected kid and to say the least the teacher was surprised to hear InuYasha was raising the girl on his own, and was actually working too.

Maybe he should go easy on the boy, for now.

Soon the bell rang, and everyone practically ran out the small door, leaving only the teach and two students who always walked out last - Kirara and InuYasha.

They stood smoothly, gathering their books while small talking.

"So how is my baby girl doing?" Kirara asked as they now walked down the crowded hallway, it was lunch hour and the friends were heading for the cafeteria.

"She's doing good, some woman running an orphanage named Kaede has her now, Sesshoumaru is actually paying, believe that."

Kirara gapped, the older version of the Watanabe brothers wasn't someone who just tossed money around, and none on his brother InuYasha.

"So when are you supposed to pick her up?" she asked curiously, after getting over the initial shock of the final proof that Sesshoumaru had a heart beating inside of him.

"After work, 7 tonight, why? You want to have her for the night?" InuYasha teased, locking her arm in his, before entering the slightly over crowded school restaurant.

Going to private school like this had its pluses, first one was they had an awesome cafeteria, serving really good food on tables with dining cloths.

Second one was, according to the horny hanyou - the school clothing policy, there were none. Meaning girls usually strutted around in mini skirts and other nice skin showing outfits.

Taking a seat at their normal table, after glaring some preps off who had sat down by accident, Kirara poked her chicken sandwich around with a long slender nail.

"Hey what's wrong?" InuYasha inquired leaning closer, he didn't give a fuck about guys jealous looks and girls giving his friend the green eye.

"Yasha, I just found out yesterday that I might have to move!" She buried her face in his white Tee, which wasn't much to grip as it was really tight.

Tugging her closer, she sighs deep leaning on his shoulder.

"Why? Where are you moving?"

"I don't know, Sango told me that we couldn't afford the rent anymore and you know my mother - not giving a damn about me or them, so we're stranded."

"Move in with me," he shrugged knowing that Sesshoumaru wouldn't mind anyway, since he was never home.

"Besides it would be nice having a woman's touch in our fucking depressing household."

Swatting his arms she jerked up, glaring at him coldly "don't joke Yasha."

"I'm not" seeing he meant it, she smiled slightly "but what about Sango and Kohaku, you know I won't just leave em."

InuYasha thought about this before answering, "what if I got you a better job instead?"

"Really? Think you can do that?" her voice laced with hope and anticipation.

"Sure, why the hell not? Sesshoumaru could probably get you a spot in our company, your pretty handy," Now she really hit him hard across the arm.

"What was that for bitch?!" he growled at her, knowing perfectly well why she'd done it, still he loved their little fights - it got him through the day.

"HANDY?" She hissed, eyes narrowing.

People avoided them, like always when this happened - taking wide circles to get around their table.

Everyone at school knew Kirara and InuYasha were best friends, they were legends - always doing mad shit together, some even gossiped that they slept together.

As we know, they didn't.

The day went by fast and InuYasha found himself driving to the shrine which held his little girl, for some odd reason he felt anxious to see her.

Walking up the steps, he could smell something being wrong - but what?

Shrugging the father instincts off that it might be Sorano, he kept walking the pace he'd set.

Finally reaching the top he could only stare, there were a ambulance there and people rushing in and out the small house - the very same he'd dropped her off in this morning.

Spotting the old lady, Kaede with a big frown on her face and a solemn look, he half ran, half walked to her.

The ambulance rushed off before he reached her.

She saw him coming, and her eye misted over - as one was covered with a eyepatch.

"Mr Watanabe, they took Sorano to the children's hospital, she's very sick I've been trying to reach you all day!"

"Sick? What the hell happened hag?!" he was fuming, had he left his child in the wrong care?

"Don't talk to my grandma like that!" a young boy, around six spoke up glancing up at InuYasha from behind her pant dressed leg.

"It's okay Shippo, Mr Watanabe is just anxious about his little girl, is all."

The woman spoke softly to the small demon child, but when she looked up she saw the young white haired boy was already gone.

InuYasha rushed to the children's hospital, driving so fast he had a cop after him the whole way - but as he reached the building and ran inside with a frightened look on his face the police man shrugged and walked back to his car.

Knowing the young man had speeded because someone he loved or cared for was in there.

InuYasha hadn't even payed attention to the road, it was all raw instinct that lead him here, to his little girl.

"Name?" the woman drawled at him over the counter.

"InuYasha Watanabe, you guys have my baby girl, Sorano - she's six months old."

He rushed through the information and got really pissed off when he was told to fill in a family information and medical history sheet.

After doing so, he almost threw the clip board at the stupid old nurse sitting there on her fat ass behind the white counter.

"Now can I see her?" It wasn't a question.

However, they told him to wait in the waiting room for the doctor.

This was all to familiar for the hanyou, as he paced back and forth in the empty room, feeling everything he'd felt just six months ago - only this time also real concern.

Deciding to call his brother, InuYasha hit the speed dial button on his cell, to Sesshoumaru's office.

"What is it little brother?" the older male answered emotionless, as always.

"Sorano, she's sick I went to pick her up and the ambulance had already taken her..." he quickly went over the basic facts, fear laced his voice.

Sesshoumaru arrived ten minutes later, he also slightly scared - not as much as InuYasha though.

"Calm down little brother I am sure they'll do what they can."

The whole comfort thing, didn't come naturally for the ice king as he sat there next to his devastated brother.

"We don't even know what's fucking wrong! Why the hell don't they come and tell me?" InuYasha nearly roared out of frustration.

Before Sesshoumaru could answer, a man with a white coat came in - his name tag dangled as he walked toward em.

Presenting himself as doctor Johnson, they brothers quickly noticed his western features. His eyes round and blue, short black hair and pretty tall, almost as tall as Sesshoumaru himself.

"What's wrong with Sorano?" InuYasha demanded, not taking the offered handshake.

"Please take a seat Mr Watanabe, this might be hard to hear."

InuYasha could only stare at the man before him, 'hard to hear? Oh God NO.'

In his minds eye he saw death.

Feeling Sesshoumaru's steady hand on his shoulder, the hanyou relaxed involuntarily.

"Please go ahead doctor," the older brother urged him to continue, as he pushed a trembling InuYasha down to a seating position.

"Sorano has a heart problem, I don't understand how someone could have over looked it when she was delivered, but I am afraid it was done." he paused a second, taking a deep breath - this usually didn't go to well, "she needs a new heart and soon, or her small body won't survive."

"What's the waiting list on a heart for a child her age?" Sesshoumaru was doing the talking since InuYasha could only stare blank at the peach colored floor.

"Well that is the problem Mr Watanabe, the list is several years long and this hospital does not have the founding to stand higher up on that list - we fall under donations and left overs, I am afraid."

Sesshoumaru didn't hesitate as he asked how much money would the hospital need for Sorano to get a new heart before it was to late.

The white cloaked man told him it wasn't his area, that it needed to be discussed with higher people.

Sesshoumaru thanked him for his time, and asked if his brother could see his little girl.

The black haired man nodded, and Sesshoumaru grabbed InuYasha by the shoulders leading him down the hall, to Sorano.
