Chapter three, father and daughter bonding.

Walking in to the room holding Sorano, they were greeted by a baby screaming and crying.

"We tried everything doctor Johnson, but she won't stop crying" one of the nurses explained in a worried voice.

However, before the doctor could tell her to get some kind of medication to knock little Sorano out with, Sesshoumaru swiftly led his brother to the bedding.

InuYasha did the only thing he could think of, crawling up in the big emergency bed with his daughter hugging her to him.

The hospital staff watched the whole show stunned and slightly shocked, for as soon as the boy touched the little toddler, she stopped crying.

Silence filled the room, only InuYasha's soft whispering could be heard - for humans it sounded like a low mumble but for Sesshoumaru a confession of his brothers love for his pup.

InuYasha laid there, locking eyes with his little girl growling low in demon tongue - never before had he even known he was capable to speak the language of pure demons but here was proof that he was actually really talented in it.

Sesshoumaru felt oddly proud of his brother, he knew it was all instinct but it didn't matter - his brother was speaking the ancient language only he and their father had been gifted with, in their family.

Slowly Sorano fell asleep in her fathers strong arms, with a small smile on her lips.

Making his way to the board meeting with the hospital staff, Sesshoumaru could hear the whispers of the nurses of how cute his brother was and how dedicated he seemed to his child.

Yes, Sesshoumaru himself had been surprised by his rebel of a brothers actions, he'd taken a hard job working his ass off every day to provide the best for Sorano and then going to school and still kept a good contact with his friends.

Straightening his tie, the older Watanabe brother walked into the big room - shutting the large oak door with a ~boom~ behind him.

Hours later...

InuYasha hadn't left his pup side as he was now sitting next to her bed doing homework that Kirara had brought over.

The cat demon had left just minutes ago, and the hanyou was left alone with his problems. Knowing that Sesshoumaru wouldn't fail him in the meeting upstairs, he relaxed and allowed himself to smile.

A low noise from the small bed, that Sorano was now in, got his attention.

Getting up and leaning over the metal bar he smiled down at his pup, who smiled brightly back.

She had the blue teddy bear he'd found in the red sports bag that first night, and she was now holding it up to him.

"Want me to take it?" he asked curiously, a big grin graced his daughters lips.

"Okay, daddy will take it."

Taking the offered toy, InuYasha hugged it tight to himself like it was a hug then placed it to Sorano's chest letting the teddy hug her back.

She giggled softly at the whole thing, so he did it again.

If there was anything that won his heart over - it was his daughters laughter.

Her eyes reminded him of the sun at those moments, shining bright and full of amusement.

"InuYasha?" A very feminine voice reached his ears, as he stood there with his back turned toward the door.

Knowing perfectly well who it was, he turned around - this time not putting on any masks of seduction as he greeted her.

"Hi Tina."

The young woman stood in the door opening looking surprised at him, the young naive girl who he had thought was so sexy, appeared more that of a brainless blond this very moment.

Shaking how brown hair slight, she let one of her spaghetti straps of her dress drop with a small 'whops'

Of course, he didn't buy that - knowing she wanted him to look there which he did but not in the manner she was expecting.

The low gurgle and baby talk of his daughter brought his attention back to the large hospital crib.

She was once again offering the blue teddy to him, smiling innocently.

Tina was quickly forgotten as he continued to do the 'hug' game with his pup, who was laughing as hard a baby could.

However, it seemed that Tina hadn't left and given up on InuYasha for she swayed into the room and leaned over the crib on the other side - smiling down at his daughter.

"What a cutie," she cooed softly at Sorano who was just looking at the brown headed girl curiously.

"Your sister?" she inquired, InuYasha could only stare - hadn't she heard? He thought everyone at school knew about him and his kid.

"No, she's my daughter," he explained while handing the blue bear back to Sorano who was giggling softly at him.

"Serious?"

Tina jerked up staring wide eyed at the sexiest guy she had ever seen, a kid? How come she didn't know about that?

"Of course I am serious," he growled at her, not liking the stupid bitch much more as she stood there staring at him with wide eyes that reminded him of dinner plates.

This seemed to turn the young woman off as she hurried out the room covering her self with a jacket, which he wanted to laugh at.

Keh, he didn't like her anyway - why would he want a brainless bitch like that.

Looking down at Sorano who was grinning a big toothless grin at him he snapped out of his bad mood and smiled back "daddy didn't like her anyway," he whispered as his daughter was now laughing at him.

The days that followed, InuYasha knew that Sesshoumaru was doing his best to get Sorano a new heart before time ran out - and every day Sorano seemed to get weaker, sleeping more and soon ended up on feeding IV since she refused to take the bottle.

Soon two months had passed and Sesshoumaru had finally good news to tell his brother who had refused to leave his girls side this whole time - even sleeping next to her on a borrowed bed.

Glancing into the room which he had payed a good bit of money to keep private - for InuYasha and Sorano only - he actually smiled.

There on the big bed laid his little brother fast asleep hugging the blue teddy close to him in one hand and in the other his math book, while Sorano slept soundly next to him in the crib.

Deciding to wake him up to tell him the news, knowing if he didn't InuYasha would yell and cuss at him for not saying anything sooner.

Making his way over to the white sheeted bed he nudged his brother in the shoulder,

"InuYasha."

Luckily the hanyou was a light sleeper, cracking an eye open focusing his sight only to see his brother hovering over him.

"What?" his voice rasp and low, he hadn't gotten much sleep these last few weeks as Sorano had gotten worse.

"I got news, wake up." Sesshoumaru commanded as he took a seat next to his brother on the bedding.

"I am awake," InuYasha growled seating himself up - running a hand through his white long hair.

Sesshoumaru handed him a few white papers and a pen that had the name Watanabe on it - pointing at a dotted line.

"Sign there." He said with a stern emotionless voice as if that would explain it all.

"What is this?" InuYasha skimmed through the black typed text trying to see what the hell he was signing.

"She's getting a new heart, that is just safety papers saying if something goes wrong we wont sue them," Sesshoumaru felt a smile come on again as InuYasha dropped the papers into his lap looking at his brother with hopeful filled eyes.

InuYasha felt as if a million ton had been lifted off his shoulders, his pup would get a new heart - everything would be fine.

Scribbling down his name quickly, he handed them back to his older brother with a bear hug, whispering his thanks.

The Watanabe brothers sat in a locked position for a while before Sesshoumaru broke away with a "Ahem" straightening out his dress shirt.

"When will it happen?" InuYasha requested, making his way over to the crib holding his sick little pup.

For the last week or so he had a problem looking at her for she was so sick and helpless and he couldn't do anything to ease her pain - but now he could actually smile down at her.

"In one week, as soon as Totosai and the hospital lawyers settle the papers and draw copies etc." His brother replied, also making his way over to Sorano.

"This came for you yesterday," he continued, handing a yellow large envelope to InuYasha who was looking curiously at it.

Using a claw to split it open his eyes widened as he saw the content - a copy of an American kid magazine, on the front cover was he and Sorano in the picture he had went and done before she got sick.

"Holy smokes." He exclaimed, seeing a check for 50,000 US dollars and a note attached to it, reading;

'To InuYasha Watanabe,

Thank you for letting us use this picture as we pleased, as you can see it

made it to the United states of America and your face was a huge hit, but

more so your daughter, Sorano is a name on everyone's lips.

They request to use her again, but unfortunately we heard the horrible news of her sickness, we send our best wishes to the beautiful baby girl of yours.

Sending also a check for 50% of the check the magazine paid to use this picture, as you can see it made it to the front page.

Thank you again and please contact us if you have any questions or wish to pose for us again.

Mr Houng.'

InuYasha knew exactly what to do with the money as he now handed the check to Sesshoumaru.

"For her collage, make her an account." He explained, smiling.

Sesshoumaru glanced at the check and then at his brother, nodding.

He had already secretly started an account for Sorano without the hanyou's knowledge but he didn't need to know everything.

So he would just add that money to the other amount, which he knew was probably triple the amount on the check.

So the week finally passed and InuYasha was so nervous he wanted to throw up. He'd actually gone to a shrine writing on a wooden plate, wishing for luck in his daughters operation - hoping that the Kami would smile down on her.

Sorano's heart was beating so faint now, that she had trouble keeping herself awake but when she was - InuYasha was there all the time to greet her.

Sesshoumaru had made sure the best heart surgeon was flown in to do the delicate procedure, not wanting to risk little Sorano's health.

Even though it was never said, InuYasha knew that his older brother loved his daughter just as much as he did.

Never had she posed to be a problem for them, she was a quiet child that could brighten up anyone's mood within seconds.

So when she got sick, Sesshoumaru felt as it was his own pup that was ill and moved in the manner of protectiveness and fierce determination to make her better, just to be able to see her smile up at him again.

Of course, he'd never admit that out loud however.

So now the doctors prepared their little bundle of joy for the very dangerous job to change a heart in an toddler.

InuYasha found himself pacing the waiting room once again, but this time he wasn't alone both Sesshoumaru and Kirara were there.

The cat demons hair changed from blond to red in a weird manner as she was really nervous and couldn't keep a straight thought.

Not much conversation was passed between the trio and the hours crept slowly by, feeling like pure torment.

InuYasha was on his fifth cup of java when one of the specialists showed up at the door opening, still wearing his lime green operating coat.

InuYasha could smell his daughters blood from the man who now bowed in respect to them while addressing Sesshoumaru first.

"Mr Watanabe, the operation was successful - of course there is a twenty four hour period were we wait and see if her body accepts the new organ, but it looks good."

Kirara flew up, hugging InuYasha tightly to her smiling big, "oh Kami I am so happy I can fucking cry," she exclaimed not caring for the doctors horror look at the young woman's foul mouth.

"Thank you doctor, when can my brother see her?" Sesshoumaru asked, completely used to Kirara and her cussing.

"Tomorrow, she's recovering right now and I suggest you all go home and get some rest, we will call if something comes up." The older man tried, but knew by the looks of the younger Watanabe brother he wouldn't leave until he left with his daughter.

Nodding, Sesshoumaru bowed and thanked the man for his time.

"Now all we can do is wait." He said sitting down, also knowing that sleep and going home wasn't part of his hanyou brothers plan.
