Chapter four, life happens.

InuYasha got to take his Sorano home a few months later, she was a year old now and he was eighteen.

Sitting down in the kitchen one evening, feeding her some traditional apple sauce his cell phone rang.

Glancing at the receiver he couldn't figure out who's number was displayed on the light blue window.

Shrugging he answered it anyway, "Hello?"

A feminine voice on the other end spoke back in a foreign language he knew by heart - English.

"Mr Watanabe?"

"It's him," InuYasha handed Sorano her spoon, letting her make a mess on her own with the smashed apples.

"My name is Miss Henderson, I am calling from Harvard university in the United states, I have before me your school records, it says here that you're interested in signing up to study here for a medical career."

InuYasha stared blankly before him, yeah it had been his plan to do all of that before Sorano but now he had his responsibilities, he couldn't exactly just pack up and leave!

"I am sorry Miss Henderson but I have to decline that offer, if there was one made." He explained in fluid English, feeling slightly sad to kill an offer like that.

"No, please listen Mr Watanabe, it says here that you're a single parent. Of course we can work something out, if you still want to come over here and study. We couldn't say no to your records and your fine recommendations."

InuYasha thought about this for a moment before replying, "So you're saying I could come with my daughter and be able to do school and keep her with me at the same time?"

"Yes, that is what I am saying Mr Watanabe."

"Seriously?"

A slight pause was made after his blunt question.

"Yes, Mr Watanabe" Miss Henderson chuckled lightly on the other end, "you make it sound like you're the only single parent who has ever applied to Harvard."

InuYasha laughed a little at this as well.

"Well I have to think about it, my daughter just underwent a delicate heart procedure and I want to make sure it's safe to fly with her, you understand."

"Of course Mr Watanabe I will await your answer, please contact me before the next semester starts."

With that they hung up.

"You're serious?"

His brother sat before him in his office, wearing a black suite and a white silk tie that was hardly visible over the white button dress shirt.

"I am, she said it was okay to bring Sorano."

Sesshoumaru didn't like this idea at all, but not because of obvious reasons - no he wouldn't get to see his little girl for months if he said yes.

Scratching his chin, the older Watanabe brother looked at his half one with sharp eyes, maybe this could work after all - they did have an office there in the USA and he could work there for a few years.

"What would you say if we both went?" He hinted to the hanyou who sat before him in his normal leather clothing.

"Both? You mean you want to come too?"

Sesshoumaru nodded.

InuYasha could only stare, his brother amazed him so much sometimes it blew him away. But he didn't need to know why, because he knew why - Sorano.

"Sure, I mean we still have to talk to Sorano's doctors but after we get a green light, we can all go." InuYasha got oddly excited, this was going to be great.

"I'll let Kirara and my trusted assistant Eri to take over here while we're over in the states, I am sure they'll keep everything floating til we return."

Sesshoumaru had hired Kirara right before Sorano got sick and she was now really into the company, knowing it like the back of her hand.

He wouldn't trust it with anyone else, but her and Eri - who had been with him since she herself was only 15 coming in as a child who refused to attend high school.

"Great, then it's all settled - you'll inform your school and do the necessary papers with them and Harvard."

InuYasha nodded, smiling so big his two rows of bright white teeth's showed.

Before he knew it, InuYasha had gotten the green light from Sorano's doctors and the number and location to doctor Johnson who had been present at the surgery, just in case.

Of course there were still months before he would go, but InuYasha felt really nervous and excited at the same time.

Kirara had cried when he told her the news, but mainly because she would miss him to damn much.

Not even a week after the phone call, InuYasha and Sesshoumaru ate dinner at their house with Sorano, together, for the first time in a long time.

It was a silent dinner, until the most remarkable thing happened, Sorano spoke.

It happened when InuYasha put a spoon with peas in her mouth, after she chewed them she grinned big "dada."

InuYasha just stared at her, had she just spoken to him? Had she called him dad?

A swell of pride rose in his chest, he had been waiting for her to say her first words always wonder what they would be.

"Dada."

Her little voice rang again, smiling innocently at him as he just kept staring at her.

Sesshoumaru felt a bit of envy at this whole situation, but it was nice to see how Sorano reacted when InuYasha now embraced her, laughing.

"She called me dad!" He exclaimed, now looking at his older brother at the end of the large oak table.

"So I heard." A smile played in the corner of his mouth, as he glanced at the happy couple.

"Who am I?" InuYasha tried, kissing Sorano's messy cheek.

"Dada," she giggled as he nuzzled her ear growling softly in pride.

"Who's that?" He pointed at Sesshoumaru who kept eating in silence.

His brother was about to say something in protest when Sorano reacher her arms toward Sesshoumaru begging him to take her from her father.

How could he say no to that?

Getting up and walking across the room he soon reached her and wiped her messy cheeks and fingers before taking her into his arms.

"Sess" She exclaimed, hugging his neck as tightly as a baby at one year old could.

Sesshoumaru had to swallow the bump that grew in his throat at the child's excitement and confession that she knew exactly who he was.

InuYasha chuckled softly at this whole situation, his brother looked as if he was about to start crying, and his daughter was so proud of herself for stiring up emotions on the colder Watanabe brothers face.

"Sess," she said again - placing two small hands on each of his hairless cheeks locking eyes with him before leaning in kissing his nose in a baby messy sort of way.

If a dog could purr, this would be the time when Sesshoumaru Watanabe, the greatly feared dog demon would let something like that slip over his lips.

Instead he growled softly at her, rewarding her with a rare smile.

InuYasha graduates from high school a few months after that, not caring for the girls that swarmed him begging him to come to their after party. No, only one girl was on his mind, Sorano.

Sesshoumaru and Sorano walked up to him as he found them in the family and friends crowed that had gathered.

"Dada!" the little girl exclaimed reaching for him to pick her up, which he did peppering her face full of small kisses.

"S`op, s`op!" she squealed as he made her laugh and try to avoid his kiss attack.

"I won't stop until you say 'you know what'."

He chuckled at his daughter who looked so incredibly cute when she was laughing this hard, cheeks puffy and red, mouth wide open showing her new teeth.

After that first night of speaking, words came easy for the little girl who wouldn't stop talking. Everyday she said something new and every time the brothers found it amazing and couldn't wait for more.

"I ove you dada," she breathed out hugging him to her, god he loved it when she did that - it made him feel so complete.

"I love you too, pumpkin."

Some girls who had been watching the whole thing, all went "Awe" seeing the clear connection between the sexiest guy in school and his little girl.

InuYasha grinned at this, rewarding them by sending a sexy smile and a wink their way as he stood up to follow his older brother.

He could hear em as he walked away,

"God he's so damn sexy!"

"I know! Eeep!",

"He's so good with his little girl!",

"Did you hear he made it into Harvard?"

After that he stopped listening, tomorrow he and his small family would fly to the states and a new life would start - one that he had every intention to make right.
