13: Uhh.. Who are you?

¤§¤§¤ Wednesday:

Kagome gently awoke, only a few hours later, laying next to Inuyasha, the sound of the pouring rain filled the, otherwise silent, room. She shifted slightly, attempting to get out of bed. Inuyasha pulled her back down and kissed her softly. Kagome returned his kisses easily, not wanting to leave the comfort of her bed and his arms.

"I need to get dressed before my mom gets home," she smiled at him as she made her way to the foot of the bed and began to collect her clothes. Inuyasha followed her example and collected his clothing before putting them on carelessly.

"You want something to eat?" Kagome asked sweetly. It was close to midnight and she hadn't eaten since lunch.

"Why don't we just go to sleep? I mean it is pretty late." he suggested. Kagome was skeptical of having Inuyasha laying in bed with her when her mom came home, from wherever she had gone this time. Kagome gave in though and cuddled up next to Inuyasha, falling easily to sleep.

Kagome woke up, once more, it was now seven in the morning, the sun didn't shine through her blinds. It was dark and it was still raining. Inuyasha shifted under Kagome and she moved slightly to allow him room to shift. Inuyasha opened his eyes wearily she smiled at him just as sweetly as ever.

"Morning," he muttered through a yawn.

"Good morning." Kagome paused for a moment before stating, "I am starving." she got out of bed and walked out of the room. Inuyasha got up and quickly followed her.

The two ate breakfast, consisting of some toast, fruit, and orange juice. Kagome's mother hadn't come home that night. This was becoming common for Kagome however, and she didn't seem to notice. After breakfast Kagome decided to bring up the unresolved issue that was plaguing her thoughts.

"So, what are you going to do? About-"

"My father?" Inuyasha finished her sentence. At the nod of her head he exhaled heavily and shook his head. "I don't know what to do Kagome, I mean, I thought I knew. But now there is you, I guess, I can't prove anything."

"Maybe you could just graduate and move out." she suggested.

"Yeah, I could do that. I just want to know that, if he did kill my mother, I want him to pay for it." his anger was rising, Kagome could hear it in his voice. Kagome placed her hand in his, this simple action seemed to calm him down.

"It is okay, we can figure something out," she tried to comfort him with words.

"I hope so. Thank you for your help and support, it means a lot to me." Kagome tried to think of something profound to say now, but she resorted to giving a small smile.

"Well, we are going to be late for school." Kagome looked at the clock on the counter and noticed that it was close to seven thirty.

"Yeah, I am going to go change. I'll be right back," Kagome left Inuyasha sitting at the table. Inuyasha walked into the living room and looked around at the pictures hanging on the wall. There weren't many, and most of them were of special events, like Souta's team winning the pee-wee football Championships. This made Inuyasha think of his freshmen year in high school when he was on the football team. His thoughts of those days were interrupted by Kagome who came trotting down the staircase.

"You want me to drive you home to get some clothes?"

"Nah, I'll be fine in these." he flashed a quick smile and the two left the house and drove to school.

Kagome and Inuyasha ran into school, arriving to their first block classes just as the late bell rang.

School went by rather quickly, Inuyasha received many odd glances at the bruises on his face, some teachers even pulled him aside after class. He dodged their questions and tried making it through the day without revealing that his father had done anything.

After school Kagome brought Inuyasha back to his house.

"Would you like to stay with me for a few days? I hate to think of you alone." Kagome noticed Inuyasha's facial expressions, as though he were debating with himself whether to say yes or not. "My mom is going to be gone for a few days." she added, making Inuyasha's decision very easy.

"Sure, I'm just going to grab my stuff. I'll follow you back in one of my cars. Shit, my dad still has my keys, you don't mind driving me around do you?" he smiled at her casually and she shook her head back.

"Not at all,"

"Great, I'll go get some stuff, you wanna come in and wait?" he asked.

"Nah, I can sit here and listen to the radio."

"Aight be right back," with that Inuyasha ran into the house and Kagome waited.

In his room he grabbed two pairs of pants, two shirts, navy blue and black, and another baggy sweater, from his closet. He then went deeper into this closet and went into a shoe box to grab his stash. He ran out of the room and back through the house.

"I'm staying at Kag- a friends," he called to Naraku.

"Very good sir. Have a lovely time," he replied to the blur of black and white running out the door.

"Took ya long enough," Kagome teased.

"Ha, ha, just drive wench." he smiled and Kagome laughed starting her car.

Inuyasha and Kagome spent the afternoon doing homework, well Kagome did homework and Inuyasha just kind of stared at her. Souta made Inuyasha play catch with him while Kagome prepared dinner. The three sat down to Kagome's Spaghetti and homemade Swedish Meatballs. After dinner Kagome cleaned washed the dishes and put her brother to bed around eight. Kagome sprawled out on the couch, Inuyasha taking up a small corner next to her.

"You look exhausted," Kagome stated, glancing over at Inuyasha. The lights in the living room weren't on, but the light from the street lamps outside cast a semi-eerie glow.

"I don't know why, I don't feel that tired." he replied, allowing his eyes to droop closed.

"I can see that," Kagome replied sarcastically. After a few minutes, and no response from Inuyasha, Kagome spoke again, "Inuyasha?" The fact that his eyes were closed and he was resting his head easily on the arm of the couch led to only one conclusion, Inuyasha was asleep. Kagome didn't want to try and lift the sleeping boy, instead she went to the linen closet and pulled out a quilt she had made with her grandmother when she was younger. She sat next to Inuyasha on the couch and draped the quilt over both of them. She curled up into a ball and rested her head against his shoulder, and she too fell asleep.

§¤§¤: Thursday:

Kagome woke up, still on the couch, but with a new face in her presence. Her little brother was staring at her.

"I am hungry." he stated.

"I suppose you want me to feed you?"

"Yes, yes I do," Kagome smiled at her brother before getting up and proceeding to the kitchen.

"Where is Inuyasha?" she asked as she scrambled Souta's eggs.

"He said he needed to take a shower." Souta said, staring with hungry eyes at the food Kagome was preparing. Kagome prepared breakfast for Inuyasha too before running upstairs to get dressed.

"Inuyasha," she called into the bathroom, the sound of running water could be heard through the door.

"Yeah," he replied

"I just wanted to let you know your breakfast was ready,"

"Thanks," he called back.

The water turned off a few minutes later and Inuyasha hastily dressed in the bathroom. Kagome was still looking for something to wear. She was leaning into her closet, having finally found a shirt to wear, when a gentle hand slid across her back and around her waist. She inhaled quickly, having been startled by the sudden touch.

"Did I scare ya?" Kagome turned her head towards Inuyasha's,

"No, you startled me, there is a difference," she smiled and Inuyasha kissed her softly. "We have to get ready for school," she said pulling slowly away.

"I am not going today," he stated as he jumped on to her bed.

"Why?" she asked, taking her shirt off the hanger.

"Cause, I don't want to deal with it. I'll be cool chillin' here though, don't worry about it." she smiled at his reassuring comments.

"As long as you are sure." Kagome was about to pull her shirt off and change into the one she had picked out for the day, "Your breakfast is getting cold." she said, implying she wanted him to leave so she could get dressed.

"Fine, I am leaving." he reluctantly got off the bed and wondered down into the kitchen. Kagome came down a few minutes later.

"Are you sure you don't want to come to school?" she asked, hurriedly eating a piece of toast.

"Nah, I am good." he said before chugging a glass of Orange Juice.

"All right, have a good day then. Come on Souta!" she hollered into the living room for her little brother, who came running into the kitchen a few moments later with his school bag.

"Bye Inuyasha," he said as he ran passed him out the door.

"Bye Souta. Later Kag," he added as Kagome followed her brother out the door.

At school Kagome found it very hard to concentrate. Her thoughts were only about Inuyasha, and what he might be doing, how he is feeling. Last block finally came and Kagome was relieved she was about to go home.

"Kagome, could you stay after and help me clean up the science labs? I know it isn't your job but, please!" Kagome's friend, Miki, had come running up to her in the hallway after class.

"Uh," she looked into her friends pleading eyes, "sure,"

"Oh thank you so much!" Miki hugged her tightly before dragging her off to the science room. Kagome helped Miki clean off the table tops, which had parts of dead frogs still laying on them.

"Damn Biology class." Kagome shuddered as she remembered having to take biology. The room was finally back in working order.

"Thank you so much Kagome!" her friend stated again.

"It's no problem really," she flipped another stool up on to the table. "I can finish these up, you can go, I know you have a game Saturday. It's okay, I'll finish up."

"Thank you so much! I owe you." Miki scampered off to her cheerleading practice leaving Kagome behind. She finished stacking the stools and went back to the window sill to grab her bag. She turned around and saw someone was standing in the door way.

"Ms. Higarashi?" the man asked.

"Ah, yeah?" the man walked closer to her.

"Ms. Kagome Higarashi?" Kagome noticed his face in the light. He looked familiar.

"Yes," she replied, getting slightly irritated.

"You do not know me ma'am but I fear I know you." his mysterious ways were really driving Kagome up a wall.

"Then may I inquire as to who you are?" she asked, trying to remain calm.

"That is simple young one," the man paused, smiling devilishly. I've seen that smile before . Kagome thought to herself.

"My name is, Inutaishou."
