InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Emotions ❯ Promises ( Chapter 3 )
Disclaimer: Nope…I don't own Inuyasha! With a muse like Cael…do you really think I would be able to come up with that?!
A/N: Stupid Cael was out with his good buddy Ickabod (my best friend, Jen's, muse) drinking, so he's not very helpful right now. *growls* And those damn cookies didn't work!
Now, feedback to some of my reviewers! ^_^
Redtail and Sora-Boshi: Thanks for the advice on trying to get my muse to come back! I think I'll try that on Cael now! *evil grin* Thanx!
Ookami Spirit Hishana: Thanks for all the cookies! Hehehe, I'm glad you like the story so far! ^_^
Chapter 4: Promises
Sango turned to the person who spoke to her. "I um…er…" she said, looking at the man's deep golden eyes, and his long silver hair, which was flowing slightly in the breeze. She also noticed the markings on his face, and found she could not take her eyes off of him.
"She is helping me, Sesshoumaru," Kagura said, bringing Sesshoumaru's focus off of the girl in front of him.
"Kagura? Why would she help you? To help free you from Naraku? I thought you were going to do that alone, after those words I told you," Sesshoumaru mused.
"No, she's helping me with my wounds," Kagura said weakly. This made Sesshoumaru look back at the girl that was kneeling in front of him.
"Her wounds? Why would a taiji help a Youkai?" Sesshoumaru asked with much amusement in his voice and eyes.
"Is it any of your concern?" Sango snapped at him.
"You are crossing into my land, so, it is my concern," Sesshoumaru said back to her, keeping his voice cool and calm. 'Why am I bothering with this human girl? I do not understand, but her scent seems appealing to me,' he thought, and immediately tried shaking the thoughts out of his head.
"I need to take her somewhere to rest, and let her wounds heal," Sango replied, letting her tone soften. 'There is no reason for me to snap at him,' she thought to herself.
"I still do not understand why you would want to help a youkai…especially a detachment of Naraku," Sesshoumaru replied, hearing her tone soften.
"I don't mean to be rude, but I need to get her somewhere fast," Sango said with a bit of urgency in her voice. Sesshoumaru looked back, and saw Kagura slip into unconsciousness.
"Follow me," he told Sango. "Rin, Jakken, come along." Jakken followed, leading Ah-Un, with Rin on top of it. Sango looked pensive at first, but when she saw Sesshoumaru turn back to see if she was following, she summoned Kirara, who had Kagura on her back, and followed Sesshoumaru to wherever he was taking them.

"Did you see that?!" Inuyasha asked his comrades, looking at what was taking place before his eyes.
"Hai, Inuyasha, we saw," Kagome said in a saddened voice.
"It looks as though our Sango has found a new group," Miroku said, also sounding sad.
"Sango-chan is leaving us?" Shippou asked, a whimper in his voice.
"Stupid wench," Inuyasha sneered. 'Why would she leave with my brother? And Kagura! Both of them are youkai…and she's a taiji!' he thought to himself, getting discouraged.
"Maybe we should talk to her?" Miroku suggested.
"Feh! This is her own fucking choice, remember?" Inuyasha sneered at Miroku. The thought of Sango betraying them was really pissing him off.
"This is my fault!" Kagome said, almost on the brink of tears.
"What the hell do you mean?" Inuyasha asked in surprise.
"Gomen," Kagome said. "I should have been there for her…"
"Shut up! Baka!" Inuyasha yelled at her. He then took her in an embrace, and whispered into her ear, "It's not your fault." Kagome blushed at this, and at any other time, would have been happy with Inuyasha warming up to her, but right now she was thinking about Sango, and she still felt as though she had been the cause of Sango leaving.
"He is right," Miroku said, not looking at either of them anymore. "It is not completely your fault, Kagome-san, but all of our faults."
"What do you mean by that?!" Inuyasha snapped, pulling away from Kagome. "Are you saying that it's partly my fault that Sango left with my brother?!"
"That would be what I'm saying, Inuyasha," the monk sighed.
"Feh!" Inuyasha snorted, and stalked away, back to the village.
"I guess we should follow him?" Kagome asked Miroku, looking wary herself.
"I think it would be best…we at least need to try and get him to understand how Sango must be feeling now," Miroku said, and with that, the remaining three followed Inuyasha back to the village, and Kaede's hut.

"Where are we going, exactly?" Sango asked Sesshoumaru, trying to make conversation.
"Sesshoumaru-sama does not have to answer to the likes of you!" Jakken scolded Sango
"That will be enough, Jakken," Sesshoumaru said in his usual calm voice. "We are going to my castle…Sango, isn't it?" Sango blushed at the fact that Sesshoumaru knew her name.
"Hai…my name is Sango," she replied, trying to hide her blushing cheeks. Sesshoumaru smiled a little at her, but did not let anybody catch his smile.
"I think Kagura is waking up," Sesshoumaru said, breaking the uncomfortable silence. Sango silently thanked him.
"Sango?" Kagura asked in a whisper. Sango slowed down to let Kirara come next to her, so she could talk to Kagura.
"I'm here," Sango reassured her. 'I'm here, my friend,' Sango thought.

"Kanna! Where is Kagura?" Naraku demanded.
"She is with the taiji, and the Lord of the Western lands," Kanna told him in her silky, yet monotone voice. Kanna then held up her mirror to let Naraku see.
"She is injured…" Naraku said to himself. "Stupid girl. Letting herself almost be killed by those wolves…" Naraku looked thoroughly displeased. "I could kill her right now, and she knows it…so why is she traveling with them?" Kanna looked at him with her soulless eyes, and then turned to leave. "Kanna," Naraku said to the retreating girl. She turned to him, but still held nothing in her eyes. "Summon Kikyou for me," Naraku told her, and waved his hand as a dismissal.

"Inu…Yasha?" Kagome asked, trying not to wake him if he really was asleep.
"What do you want, wench?" Inuyasha asked, not opening his eyes.
"I just wanted to talk," Kagome said, feeling tears coming to her eyes. Inuyasha could smell her tears, and in a second opened his eyes, and beckoned her to come and sit next to him.
"What do you want to talk about?" he asked her in a soft voice. 'I can't stand to see my Kagome cry,' he thought. 'WAIT! My Kagome?! Where the fuck did that come from?' and he mentally kicked himself.
"Sango…I'm so worried!" Kagome said, putting her arms around him, and letting tears roll down her cheek.
"She'll be okay," Inuyasha said reassuringly. "She's tough, and she won't let Kagura or Sesshoumaru hurt her," he tried to reason, but did not really believe it himself.
"I know…but I'm afraid that she doesn't want to be with us anymore," Kagome cried. "I'm afraid…oh Inuyasha!" Kagome sobbed.
"Kagome…" Inuyasha was at a loss as to what he should say to her now. He put his arm around her, and tried to comfort her the best he could.
"She's the closest friend I've ever had," Kagome cried into his haori. "I don't want to lose her!"
"We won't," Inuyasha said to her. 'I swear to you, Kagome, we will get our Sango back, and she will be unharmed!' he swore to himself.
"Arigatou, Inuyasha," Kagome said, resting her head on his shoulder, once she stopped crying so hard.
"Anything for you," Inuyasha whispered, but Kagome didn't hear him. She had already fallen asleep. Inuyasha smiled at her, and thought, 'She's so pretty…I wish I could make her smile more often, rather than piss her off or make her cry.'
A/N: I know that the title of this chapter really didn't have much to do with the chapter…but it works! BTW, Cael came back, finally!
Cael: Hey…just please don't hurt me…
Mandi: I would never do that! *hides bataka behind back*
Cael: *sweatdrop*
Mandi: Oh…you know you like it!
Cael: *mumbles something that sounds like 'Yeah, but its better when you're in your dominatrix outfit…'*
Mandi: *evil smile*
