Chapter 5: Friends?
'Friend?' Sango thought to herself. 'Do I think of Kagura as a friend now?' Sango was lost in her thoughts for almost the entire time they traveled. Finally, she noticed that Sesshoumaru had stopped, and she looked up, to see an interesting palace. "Isn't this a dojo?" Sango asked aloud, not meaning to.
"Yes, it is, but this is not the part I live in," Sesshoumaru answered her, slightly amused.
"Oh," Sango said, still in awe of the dojo. 'If that is just where they fight…the rest of this palace must be beautiful!' she thought, looking at her surroundings in awe. She finally settled her eyes on the housing part of this palace, and noticed that Sesshoumaru was not heading towards them. "What about those?" Sango asked carefully.
"Those are the servants' quarters," Sesshoumaru reassured her. Sango gaped at them.
"They're so beautiful though," she muttered. Sesshoumaru stopped, causing her to stop and look up at him. Sesshoumaru looked her over without saying a word.
"Do you really think so?" he finally asked her, still looking her over.
"Hai," she said, looking down to hide her blush.
"Then I'm sure you will be keen on the quarters I will have furnished for you," he replied.
"Furnished?" Sango asked, not quite understanding. "Oh! No! You don't need to furnish quarters for me…I can stay wherever you put me…really, I don't mind…" she started rambling after the realization hit her. This caused Sesshoumaru to laugh slightly.
"You and Kagura will share quarters, if you do not mind," Sesshoumaru told her.
"No! Of course not!" Sango said, feeling really stupid.
"Good," Sesshoumaru said, leading them into the actual palace. Soon, Jakken took Ah-Un to the stables, and Rin skipped, rather than walked, at Sesshoumaru's side. Although she didn't know why, this little girl seemed to remind her of her own little brother.
"Kohaku," Sango whispered, looking at the floor, and feeling tears coming to her eyes. Both of the youkai heard Sango, and looked at her. Kagura put a reassuring hand on Sango's shoulder, understanding what she was going through.
"Would you like your cat to stay in your quarters, or in the stables?" Sesshoumaru asked, not wanting to get on a touchy subject for Sango.
"I um…I want her to stay in our quarters, if that is alright with you, Kagura," Sango muttered.
"That's fine with me," Kagura said, wanting to help Sango feel better in any way she could.
"Arigatou, Sesshoumaru-sama and Kagura-chan," Sango said, lifting her head slightly.
"Sesshoumaru-sama!" Rin squealed. "Rin wants Sango-chan and Kagura-chan to be near Rin!" she said in one breath.
"Okay, Rin," Sesshoumaru said. Sango knew that he did not smile, but she saw a smile in his eyes. His eyes seemed to tell her so much about him.
"Yay!" Rin squealed, and led Sango towards her quarters. "This is my room!" Rin said to Sango and Kagura, pointing at one room. She then pointed to the room next to it and stated, "And that is your room!" Rin drug Sango into the room she had just pointed to, and Sango let out a gasp of awe.
"Wow…" was all she could get out. Kirara came in next, Kagura still on her back. Kagura looked appreciatively around the room, and then got off of the neko-youkai's back, and stumbled onto the bed. Sesshoumaru entered last, and looked at the awed expression on Sango's face.
"I take it you like it?" he asked her, seeing her nod at him slightly.
"It's amazing!" Sango finally got out.
"I am pleased that you like it. The bathing chambers are through there, and as you probably know, Rin's quarters are next to yours, through there," he said, pointing. "Rin will bring you two to dinner after you have cleaned up," he finished, and left the room.
"Rin will leave now," Rin said to the two older girls with a bow, and also left the room.
"Would you like to take a bath?" Sango asked Kagura as soon as they were alone.
"Hai, if you wouldn't mind," Kagura replied.
"Okay, let me get the water ready for you," Sango smiled at Kagura, then headed into the bathing chambers.
'What an odd girl,' Kagura thought, watching her walk off, a slight bounce in her step. 'She truly seems happy,' Kagura thought, and then felt herself smile. Kirara jumped up next to Kagura and nuzzled into her neck. Kagura felt happy…for the first time in a long time.

"We're going to get Sango back!" Inuyasha said, looking over his distressed friends. "I'm tired of you three sulking around!" he yelled.
"What if she doesn't want to be saved?" Miroku asked bitterly.
"I'm sure she does!" Inuyasha snapped.
"She wouldn't need to be saved! If she wanted to come back, she would have!" Shippou said in a sad voice.
"He's right," Kagome whispered, breaking into tears again.
"Kagome, don't cry!" Inuyasha said, rushing to her side.
"Gomen, Kagome-san," Miroku said to her, "this is my fault."
"Just the other day, you were blaming all of us for this!" Inuyasha snapped at him, still trying to comfort Kagome.
"I just want to see her happy…" Kagome sobbed.
"What about yourself?! Don't you deserve to be happy?" Inuyasha said in frustration. He felt like he was ready to snap.
"Of course she does," Miroku sighed.
"You guys are too fucking depressing!" Inuyasha said. He then left Kagome's side and jumped into a tree. "When you guys realize it's not our fucking faults…I'll come down!" he yelled from his perch.
"I want to see her again…" Kagome said to Miroku.
"As do I, as do I," Miroku said to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. Since Sango had left, Miroku no longer hit on any women, and forgot his hentai ways.
"Then let's go see her!" Inuyasha yelled down at them. At this suggestion, the three on the ground seemed to perk up a little.
"Do you mean it, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked, hope filling her voice.
"Of course I mean it!" he snapped, landing next to her. "Why wouldn't I mean it?" he asked her, his voice softer. A smile spread across Kagome's face. 'Did I actually make her happy?' Inuyasha asked himself. He couldn't help but smile back at Kagome. 'I think I did…'
"Do you know where your brother is?" Shippou asked, a little skeptical.
"Feh! Of course I do!" Inuyasha shot at the little kitsune.
"Oh, Inuyasha! Arigatou!" Kagome said, throwing her arms around his neck.
'Anything for you, my Kagome,' he thought to himself. He had finally accepted that he loved Kagome, but was not ready to let her know about it.
"Let's go then!" Miroku said, standing, and starting towards the forest. With that, the four made their way to the Western Lands, where Sesshoumaru ruled.

"My dear Kanna," Naraku said in a sarcastic voice. "I think it is time we paid Sesshoumaru and Kagura a visit, what do you think?" he asked her.
"As you wish," <woah…Princess Bride flashback!> Kanna replied.
"When I see her, I will kill her new 'friends' first, and then finish with her. She will die knowing that she was the cause of these people's deaths!" Naraku laughed. "Or…maybe I will let her live…that would be a worse punishment," he thought aloud.
"Hai, Naraku," Kanna said to him, not looking at him.
"Naraku?" a familiar voice said to him.
"Ah, Kikyou…you have finally come to me?" he asked her.
"I will not do as you bid, unless I want to," she replied bitterly.
"So be it," Naraku smirked.
"I hear that your precious Kagura has found new company," Kikyou said in a bored tone.
"That does not matter. She will be the cause of their deaths," Naraku snapped. He looked up at Kikyou, and saw that she looked amused.
"I do not think you will be able to kill Sesshoumaru so easily," Kikyou told him.
"And nobody asked your opinion," Naraku retorted. "He has a weakness…and that will be what kills him!" Naraku added bitterly.
"I want to see you try and find this 'weakness'," Kikyou smirked.
"I already have. He has a soft spot in his heart for that brat of his," Naraku smiled.
"You mean the child?" Kikyou gasped. No matter how much she hated this hanyou, she refused to let Naraku hurt a human child, even if it was the only way for him to make Sesshoumaru die.
"Why should you care," Naraku snorted.
"Because she is a human child! You will not hurt her!" Kikyou snapped at him.
"That is his only weakness," Naraku stated. With that, he left, Kanna behind him, and Kikyou next to him. She was going to make sure he did not hurt the little girl, no matter what the cost.
A/N: Oh my! Does this mean that Kikyou is good? Or is she still evil, but just wants to make sure that a human won't be harmed by the 'girly-man', Naraku? I guess you'll have to review to find out! And if anybody has any suggestions, please feel free to tell me! I will try to make whatever fit, if that's what the readers want! ^-^ THANX! Read and review!
