InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Emotions ❯ Nothing is What it Seems ( Chapter 13 )
A/N: Okay, I'm trying to write this chapter faster…after some of my reviews…I was scared…people scare me…*shudder*. But anywho, lets see what I can do…
Chapter 14: Nothing is What it Seems
The little girl giggled at the houshi's antics. He was obviously attracted to Kagome onee-san, but wasn't sure how to show it. She giggled again.
"And what, pray tell, do you find so amusing?" the houshi asked the little girl with a friendly smile.
"You don't know the first thing about Kagome onee-chan, do you?" the small child asked. Miroku raised an eyebrow at her.
"And I suppose you do?" he asked her, amusement in her eyes.
"I know enough to know that she doesn't seem to appreciate to be groped…" the girl told him with a grin. Miroku sputtered.
"Such language!" he scolded lightly. She just grinned, and he smiled down at her. "What can I do to win her over, then?" he asked. She just smiled brightly.
"Buy her pretty things, but nothing expensive. Small things that mean a lot to her…or even you. Give her flowers, and other things that can only come from the heart, and not from money. It's the thought that counts!" she smiled brightly. Miroku couldn't help but to look at her in wonder.
"Rin…you've matured so much," he said softly. He couldn't help but remember when she came back to them.
~*~*~*~Flashback~*~*~*~
Kagura opened her eyes to find that her head was laying in somebody's lap. "Is Kagura onee-san going to be okay, Sango onee-san?" a voice asked. 'I know that voice…' Kagura thought, then her eyes snapped open is surprise. For a moment, she totally forgot about the ultimatum from Naraku.
"Hai, Rin…Kagura will be fine," Kagome reassured the small girl, who was now in her arms.
"This is all Rin's fault!" the little girl wailed.
"No! No Rin, it's not!" Kagura said quietly, slowly sitting up. The small girl cried out, and launched herself into the wind youkai's arms. Kagura looked at Sango, then at Sesshoumaru, wanting an explanation for the girl.
"I thought she died," Kagura whispered.
"Rin didn't die! Rin had help from Kikyou-sama's soul stealer! It agreed to trade places with Rin. It called Rin a mighty sorceress…." Rin frowned in thought for a minute. "Kagura onee-san…what is a sorceress?" Rin asked her. Kagura couldn't answer. She was gaping at the child.
'A sorceress?!' Sango thought with a gasp.
"Sango onee-san…do you know?" Rin asked her.
"You foolish Ningen! The human wench can't talk!" Jakken growled at the little girl, earning a glare from Sango, and a swift kick from his Lord Sesshoumaru.
"Quiet Jakken," Sesshoumaru demanded.
"H-h-hai….Sesshoumaru-sama.!" Jakken stuttered.
'Rin…can…can you hear me?' Sango tried to ask the girl.
'I can, Sango onee-san!' Rin thought back to the older woman. Sango gasped again, and hugged the small girl. 'But…I feel that I shouldn't tell the others…' Rin thought sadly.
'Why…why not?' Sango asked her.
'I don't know…it feels…it feels wrong,' Rin admitted. 'But do you know what a sorceress is?'
'Hai Rin. They were a powerful species that appeared human and youkai at the same time,' Sango started.
'Like Sesshoumaru-sama? Or Inuyasha-sama?' Rin questioned her.
'Yes…but no. Supposedly…this race died out a long time ago. They relied on magic and on natural beings to help them. They can talk to anything natural, and are one of the highest beings to ever roam this earth,' Sango explained.
'Oh…' Rin frowned again. 'So…I'm more powerful than Sesshoumaru-sama?' Rin asked the older girl.
'Hai Rin…at least you have the potential. But your powers are not trained yet.'
'So someday Sesshoumaru-sama will be calling Rin "Rin-sama!"' the girl thought in glee. Sango couldn't help but giggle at the mental image of Sesshoumaru following Rin, and obeying her every order.
'Perhaps,' Sango mused. Rin pulled away from Sango and grinned.
'Thank you Sango onee-chan!' Rin whispered mentally to the older girl, then looked around the group. "Rin is happy to be back with Sesshoumaru-sama!" the girl exclaimed abruptly. Sesshoumaru let a small smile come across his face before hiding it from everybody's view. Rin and Sango still caught the smile though.
'I wonder if that girl remembers anything about Shippou…' Kouga wondered, looking at the girl in awe. It seemed that the only two that knew anything about sorceresses were the two that could not talk.

Rin smiled at the Houshi, and ran away into the field, staring to pick a bouquet for Miroku to give to Kagome.

"Kagura…are you okay?" a man inquired. Kagura shot her head up, and found herself looking into golden eyes.
"I'm fine, Inuyasha," she muttered halfheartedly.
"No you're not, wench," Inuyasha said, and plopped down next to her.
"Did you come here to insult me?" Kagura demanded.
"Listen…I'm sorry about what I said that one day…but I want to know….what happened. Why were you crying, and begging for it to stop?" he looked at her, genuine concern in his eyes. Kagura wanted to tell him everything. She wanted to tell anybody…but when she opened her mouth…she felt a terrible pain clench her heart. She slowly shook her head, and a single tear slid down her cheek.
"I…I have to leave…I don't want Naraku to hurt you," she said quietly, then pulled a feather out of her hair, and was gone.
"To…to hurt me?" Inuyasha questioned, looking at the spot where Kagura was sitting. 'Maybe I'm looking to deep into that statement…' he thought sourly. 'Nobody wants a damned hanyou like me. Not even Kagome loved me like she claimed to,' he thought bitterly.

(A/N: yes, I know, yet another one ^_^)
Inuyasha raced towards the well when he felt Kagome come through. "Kagome! Why didn't you tell me you were…" but he cut himself off when he saw her in Miroku's arms. Immediately, jealousy took over. "What are you doing?" he asked quietly, trying desperately to hide the bitterness in his voice.
"Inuyasha! You bastard! You have the decency to ask me that after all you've done to me?!" Kagome demanded, tears in her eyes. Inuyasha stared at her in shock.
"What I…" but was cut off by the girl screaming 'Osuwari'. 'What have I done to her? I haven't done anything but treat her good since I told her,' he thought dejectedly. "Kagome…I thought you loved me," he whispered, tears forming in his eyes. "I guess nobody can really love a hanyou like me," he said bitterly, and let the tears roll down his cheeks. "First Kikyou…then you…" he whispered in a pained voice. His ears drooped, and he decided to lay in the indent in the ground that was formed by him.
In the shadows, a lone figure watched, and smirked at the sight. 'Good. Even if Kikyou failed me…I still got what I wanted. I don't need that damn walking clay-pot!' the figure thought, an evil glint in his eyes. "Soon Inuyasha. Soon you will meet your end…and nothing is what it seems anymore!" the dark figure whispered before disappearing in the darkness.

A/N: ANOTHER CHAPTER DONE! That's 2 in one week! I'm all proud of myself! I know it's short, yet again…but I wanted to end it there. I hope that explains more about what's going on.
