Soon enough, Kagome checked her watch and saw that she had better hurry if she wanted to be at her orientation on time. Inuyasha, hungry again, was standing in line with her for an ice cream cone. Kagome pulled him roughly along, exclaiming that she didn't want to be late. The next thing she knew, Inuyasha had picked her up and was leaping over trees and buildings, headed towards the center of campus. A startled Kagome told him to land so no one would see them, and he did. "Wow," Kagome said, "you took me by surprise ...but thanks." Inuyasha blushed and barely nodded as he turned away. Kagome smiled to herself at the uncharacteristic concern for her happiness he was showing her lately.

The orientation left much to be desired. Kagome was bored. Inuyasha was bored. It seemed that all the students and parents in attendance were bored. The only one truly interested in how many times certain students had switched majors and other such topics appeared to be the presenter. Finally the orientation was over. No one stayed behind to ask questions, enough was enough. Kagome wanted to go back to the dorm and finish unpacking and rearranging the room. So back to the dorms it was.

The most important task, to Kagome anyways, was to make sure that the Tetsaiega was carefully concealed. Inuyasha protested, saying that he might need it and it being hidden was not the best place. After much debating and some heated remarks, Kagome stepped down and let Inuyasha keep it stored under the bed, just as long as no one could see it. She had, at least gotten him to not bring it with him everywhere. Inuyasha just rolled his eyes and huffed a little bit. To end the battle of wills, Kagome had taunted Inuyasha with the threat of a "sit", or shall we say multiple "sits". It worked and they moved on to other things. Everything got organized, the only problem being the bed. Obviously neither wanted to share a bed; conscience and morals were against it. Not that anything would have happened, both Inuyasha and Kagome were just bothered at the thought of sleeping side by side on the same bed. The tension between them was at an all-time high anyways. University housing restricts additional beds being in the rooms, a fire hazard. Kagome and Inuyasha ended up in the same room merely because Inuyasha is not a student but was going to room with Kagome. Usually only couples have these sorts of arrangements, hence the one bed. It was resolved that they would sleep on the bed, Kagome threatening Inuyasha's life, among other things, if he so much as touched her. He responded by telling her that he would never even want to do such a thing, he was no Miroku.

That night, before going to bed, Kagome reminded Inuyasha of her threats. He acknowledged her threats, not even protesting to her assumptions, and laid down. Kagome rolled her eyes and went to brush her teeth. When she came back, Inuyasha looked to be sound asleep, but at a second glance she saw his ears were twitching. He was not sleeping soundly. She lay down and drifted off to sleep. The next morning it was Inuyasha who awoke first. He got up and took a shower, thinking that Kagome would be pleased with his attempt to fit in to the standards of her time, no matter how ridiculous they might be. Kagome was awake and dressed when he got back.

"I've got class today, Inuyasha." Kagome said.

"Really?" Inuyasha said.

Kagome said that yes, she did. She thought that he looked a little sad though.

While Kagome was at class, Inuyasha decided to look for a job. He wanted to find something to take up his time but he had to find one that did not want anything beyond his name though, as there was no documentation in this world of his birth or life. Throughout the day, this seemed to be impossible. Inuyasha had about 10 applications in his hand, all of them worthless to him. He was frustrated. In classic Inuyasha fashion, he let some of this frustration out by destroying things. Two cars were severely crippled by his punches and slashes. Luckily, no one saw who had done the damage. The incident did make it on the news but when Kagome saw it she wisely ignored the tell-tale marks on the cars that marked it as Inuyasha's doing. On his way back to the dorm, he saw a club that was hiring bouncers. Not knowing what a bouncer was, he took mind of where the club was and decided to ask Kagome what a bouncer was and if he should ask for a job. Working at a dance club looked like fun. Just as long as no one expected him to ever, ever dance. Inuyasha had heard somewhere that dance clubs were exciting and that fights broke out sometimes. Probably from those things that Kagome called "moovees". This seemed like the perfect job for him, Inuyasha reasoned.

Inuyasha was waiting for Kagome when she got back. She said that her classes were fine and that she already had some work to do. Then Inuyasha asked her about the bouncer job. Kagome responded with a smile before telling him that a bouncer was someone who patrolled the club, basically breaking up fights and keeping things peaceful. Inuyasha asked her if he would be expected to dance, but she re-assured him that he would not have to. With that definition, Inuyasha was still interested in the job. (He was probably mostly still interested because he might get the chance to get in on a good fight. There were not many chances to fight in Kagome's time. ) He planned on going back the next day and seeing if he could get a job.

Dinner went much better than the breakfast they had eaten at the dining hall. Inuyasha did not make a scene and was not rude to the employees. Kagome, who was worried that after his disappointing day he might make a scene, was relieved. The rest of the evening passed without mush activity. Kagome began reading for some of her classes while Inuyasha played around with a game of Tetris that he had found. That night, both climbed into bed and Kagome did not even reiterate her threats to Inuyasha. Kagome and Inuyasha, during the course of their sleeping, moved closer to the center of the bed until Inuyasha put his arm around Kagome. Only then did Inuyasha's ears stop twitching and searching the room and he went into a peaceful sleep. When Kagome woke up the next morning, she was somewhat surprised but was not bothered. Inuyasha was grateful that she did not feel the need to act on any of her threats. After such a good night, he did not want a "sit" to ruin the start of his day.
