InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Even If You Cannot Hear My Voice ❯ Kikyo's plan of vengeance ( Chapter 3 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
“Nani?! You SAW the shikigami, and you didn't even DO anything, HOUSHI?!” Sango was admittedly way more pissed at Inuyasha than Miroku at the moment, but it's not like he didn't deserve constant tongue-lashings anyways…As well as other types of lashings. She thought darkly.
“Miroku, you know that Inuyasha is nothing but a two-timing meanie. The least you could've done is tried to talk him out of leaving.” Shippou stated matter-of-factly and as adult-like as possible. Even though the word “meanie” was included in his statement, Shippou felt confident he remark was certainly warranted.
*Yawn* Kagome woke to the sound of arguing, but she decided not to worry about it as she stretched for the upcoming day.
“Morning everyone.” She said sleepily as she yawned once more. Though she was still rousing and her head was still pretty fuzzy, she knew her friends had all become unusually quiet. Her heart sunk as she knew there could only be one explanation.
“He's gone to her, hasn't he?” Kagome preferred the word “her” over “Kikyo” because every time she heard that name all she could think about is how stupid she was falling in love with Inuyasha. Everyone knew she had-probably even Inuyasha, though he had proven himself to be completely clueless when it came to Sango and Miroku's relationship. So maybe he didn't, she thought hopefully, but she knew she was always one to show her emotions openly. She sighed quietly to herself and stared at her increasingly interesting hands. When everyone just kept staring at her, she knew her suspicion was true. It wouldn't have mattered if they hadn't been arguing or had said anything at all, anyways. She knew in her heart whenever Inuyasha had gone to see Kikyo, and she could never breathe properly whenever he did.
“It's alright everyone. Let's just get breakfast started.” Everyone erupted into action the moment she spoke. Sango had already started the fire, so she looked for some cooking utensils, Miroku got up and began looking for more firewood, and Shippou started rummaging in Kagome's backpack to see if she still had anything left for them to eat. Even Kirara got up and headed toward the stream. Maybe she was going to see if she could catch any fish.
At least they stopped talking about it. Kagome thought to herself. She felt it was bad enough waking up to arguing! That's not how someone should start their day! Of course, at least this way she did get sleep. Whenever Kikyo sent her shikigami to get Inuyasha at night, Kagome found herself tossing and turning-she even woke Shippou up a few times fidgeting. Oh well, nothing I can do about it. She'll never release Inuyasha, and he'll just go to Hell without another thought. Dammit. I can't cry! I just woke up! Kagome felt the hot tears searing her eyes, screaming for release, but she was able to restrain them before they could fall down her cheeks.
“I think I'll go get a bath if that's alright with everyone. If I don't come back in time for breakfast, don't hesitate to eat without me.” Kagome started gathering her things for a nice, long bath when Miroku lightly touched her arm.
“Kagome-sama. Do you feel it wise to wander off by yourself?” Kagome glanced at Sango who was ready to pounce if Miroku's hand moved a centimeter from its current position and then warmly smiled at Miroku.
“I'll be fine. Kirara went down to the stream, remember?” Kagome felt weird whenever Miroku touched her because she didn't want Sango to get jealous. Kagome knew that Sango would never get mad at her for something Miroku did, but still…
“As you wish, Kagome.”
Kagome smiled prettily at everyone and took off towards the stream. It wouldn't be as cold as a river, she surmised mentally, but what I wouldn't give for a hot spring! One of those would definitely help Kagome's down-spirited mood. Usually, she was nothing but smiles and giggles with enough energy to make everyone around her feel refreshed and invigorated. Today is going to be one of those days. She silently moaned. Kirara noticed Kagome prepare herself for her morning bath and walked over.
“Hi, Kirara.” Kagome greeted softly. Kirara transformed back into her kitten form. She decided it would be best to stop fishing and look as cute and cuddly as possible to cheer up Kagome.
“Mew!” She exclaimed and started to purr as adorably as possible.
“Oh, Kirara, you know just how to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.” Kagome giggled lightly as she stroked Kirara's silken fur on the edge of the stream.
“Hmm…I wonder how long Inuyasha will be gone this time.” Kagome felt lighter whenever she talked to Kirara about Inuyasha because she wouldn't get mad like Sango or Shippou, and she wouldn't try to comfort her by touching her butt (no need to point out who that was)! It was nice to have someone just listen…just listen and nothing more. She appreciated the fact that they all meant well-well, maybe not Miroku-and they simply felt they needed to stick up for her, but they didn't realize that that just made her feel worse, not better. She loved Inuyasha, and though she did feel like he was wronging her, she didn't want anyone berating him, either. Especially not the people she cared the most for. She felt sad whenever village people whispered about Inuyasha and gave him dirty looks, but she really couldn't stand it when she heard the insults coming from her best friends.
“I love all of them, but sometimes they don't know when to shut up!”
Kirara mewed heartily in agreement, though she was confused about Kagome's statement. She found them to be rather quiet about it this morning even though that wasn't always true. But of course, she wouldn't have told Kagome that even if she could talk.
Inuyasha slowly approached Kikyo. She was sitting down with her back against a tree looking off into the distance as dejectedly as always. He did pity her. It was hard not to with all that she had been through. He just wished she didn't look so fucking sad every time he went to see her. Well, I better get this over with. I need to hurry back to the others so we can continue searching for any clues about how to get rid of that bastard Naraku and all his fucking offspring.
“Ki…Kikyo?” he asked uncertainly. He never knew why she always acted like his presence was never felt. Surely she always knew when he had arrived as soon as he crossed her barrier. Half the time when she spoke, however, she spoke as if she was talking to herself or no one at all.
Kikyo smirked inwardly. That baka always buys it. I can see it in his eyes. His great pity for me, and his longing to see me happy. He doesn't understand that I'll never be happy. Any chance I would have had at happiness died with me over fifty years ago. My only joy now is knowing that I'll have my revenge. She desperately wanted vengeance on both the filthy hanyous who were responsible for her horrible fate, and she would stop at nothing to make sure her wishes came true. Even though Naraku himself was gone, at least she could destroy his heart, and then she would wait for her revenge on Inuyasha. She wanted to make it as slow as painful as possible before dragging him down with her. She would leave him with his friends and that pathetic excuse for a reincarnation long enough to have hope of his release, but not long enough for him to actually feel happy in their company. She would stay close to their camp, ensuring Inuyasha could smell her at all times. That should keep him away from that little bitch miko. But first-
“Naraku is dead. His body was sent to Hell by Sesshoumaru.”
“NANI?!?! Sesshoumaru! That bastard was almost absorbed by Naraku once, and his sorry ass would've been too if it wasn't for me! He couldn't have killed Naraku himself!” Inuyasha was shaking with intense anger and shock. Damn you, Sesshoumaru. Naraku was MY prey, you fucking bastard. Inuyasha's thoughts were interrupted by Kikyo's audible sigh.
Kikyo hated being so patient with the half-breed. She knew she would have to keep her information to no more than one or two sentences at a time as he would surely be unable to refrain from shouting continuous outbursts.
“Sesshoumaru told me himself. I am also sure he killed Byakuya as well.” Despite the fact that this was an outright lie, Kikyo was certain Inuyasha would never find out nor would he ever know of what Sesshoumaru really told her. He'll be well on his way to Hell with me before that happens, Kikyo thought as she smiled to herself. Inuyasha was not paying attention to Kikyo's apparent change in expression as he continued his tirade.
“Keh! Who cares about that bastard?! I could've easily killed him myself if he wasn't disappearing all the fucking time.” Inuyasha could believe that idiot Byakuya could be killed with little effort by Sesshoumaru, but Naraku? Does that mean that he already killed Mouryoumaru and the baby and then Naraku himself?! What the fuck is going on? He cursed mentally.
“Naraku was sent to Hell by Sesshoumaru using the Tenseiga. Apparently, he can now send entire beings through the Meidou.”
“So that means Naraku's heart is still in that baby? And that bastard Mouryoumaru is still alive, then?”
“Yes. It also means that Kohaku's life is still in danger because Mouryoumaru desires his jewel shard.” Inuyasha really didn't want to talk about that at the moment. He had told his friends that he wouldn't let Kikyo take Kohaku's life in exchange for Naraku's. As far as he was concerned, that went the same for that fucking bastard Mouryoumaru, too, but he didn't know how far either he or Kikyo would go if and when it would come to that particular disagreement, and he wasn't about to find out right now.
“Err…Right” was the only thing he could muster as Kikyo languidly arose from her position on the tree's roots and stared into Inuyasha's eyes as somberly as possible, effectively hiding her intense hatred for the hanyou.
“Mouryoumaru and Naraku's offspring must all be destroyed. The Shikon no Tama must also be restored and correctly purified. This must be accomplished before fulfilling your promise to me.” Inuyasha cringed at her words. He tried to cover it up by quickly crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Kikyo did not let his infuriating reaction go unnoticed. How dare he cringe at my words, she thought severely.
“Do not forget me or your promise to me, Inuyasha. Your life belongs to me.” She stated as confidently and dangerously as she could without revealing her intense disgust with the half-breed.
“I know, Kikyo” he replied softly. “I won't forget.” Dammit, why did I ever promise her anything? She's not even the Kikyo I once cared for. He mentally berated himself further. Even though I know her soul will not be at peace even if I go to Hell with her, I…it's not as if I ever truly loved her, either. I didn't even know what love was until….No. Don't finish that thought…I'm just a disgusting half-breed anyways, she would never want me.
Kikyo knew he could never lie to her. He could never lie to anyone for that matter. If he ever didn't want to tell the truth, he would simply keep silent, and that in itself would always reveal the truth. He was so easy to manipulate, it was almost boring at times. Kikyo consoled herself with the fact that at least no matter what happened or would happen in the future, and even though he fell in love with that little bitch, he would definitely suffer her fate and be willingly dragged to Hell prematurely. Heh. She thought pleased with herself. He is so disgustingly weak. Filthy hanyou.
“Always remember that you are mine, Inuyasha. I will come for you when I am ready.”
Inuyasha stood frozen as Kikyo slowly walked away from him and into the deep forest. Her soul collectors gathered around her, and Inuyasha watched until the bluish-white glow faded completely. He knew she would not release him of his promise to her, but whenever he was with Kagome, he couldn't help but hope that she would.
Author's note: I'm sorry to all the Kikyo lovers out there. I simply find her a manipulative and evil bitch. But you can still enjoy my story anyways, ne?
