InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Everytime ❯ Chapter 5
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Sorry for the long update! I was pretty busy after school this month and for spring break I went to Hawaii and didn't have access to a computer, and then my computer had a virus and was messed up…Anyway, Mahalo (thanks in Hawaiian) to those of you who have stuck with the story. Your reviews are really appreciated.
Disclaimer: che, I hate these…..I mean, do they think Inuyasha will suddenly be mine if I don't write this? I wish. Anyway, I don't own Inuyasha…..

I never could have seen this far
I never could have seen this coming
It seems like my worlds falling apart
Why is everything so hard?
I don't think I can deal
With the things you said
It just won't go away
I never could have seen this coming
It seems like my worlds falling apart
Why is everything so hard?
I don't think I can deal
With the things you said
It just won't go away
~Simple Plan: Perfect World
Inuyasha slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he was aware of was the intense pain throughout his body. His back burned, his arm felt like lead, and after trying to take a deep breath, he learned that he could only manage small gasps of air. As he slowly looked around, Inuyasha noticed that he was lying on a small futon by a fire inside of a hut. Upon closer inspection, particularly smelling, he realized he was back at Kaede's hut. A shadow passed over his face and he looked up to see a pair of watery, grey-blue eyes.
“Kagome…”
“In...Inuyasha. I'm glad you're awake. Listen…I need to talk to you. I'm really sorry about what I said to you…”
Inuyasha made a failed attempt to role over.
“Please just hear me out, Inuyasha!”
“keh…” he acknowledged her and Kagome took that as a `yes, I'm listening'.
“I wasn't thinking when I said those things to you. I didn't mean any of it, not one single bit. I know you hear those things a lot…and I know it hurts to be called names and picked on….but can you please forgive me?”
A salty smell reached Inuyasha's nose and he looked up to see Kagome crying silently. An internal battle raged inside his mind.
`She said she was sorry! C'mon! Forgive her!'
`It's a trick! She's just using you!'
`You heard Kagome. She didn't mean it. Believe her. She would never intentionally hurt you, and you know it.'
`Don't believe her!'
“Inuyasha? Hey, say something…anything. Say you hate me and I'll leave. Just don't sit there in silence.”
“……I don't hate you.”
Kagome rubbed her eyes. “You don't?”
“No….but that doesn't mean I forgive you yet.”
“W-what?”
“I can't let what you said by me that easily. It's not like I can just forget and go on with my `oh so happy life'.”
“Yeah, but…”she sniffed.
“Hey! Don't cry! I said yet didn't I?”
“Yes…”
“Then don't worry about it.”
“But I didn't mean it! I didn't!”
Inuyasha sighed. “Do you know how many times I have been called a half-breed?”
Kagome just shook her head and stared at the floor.
“Well…” he started as he stared up at the ceiling and got a faraway look in his eyes. “a lot, more than I can count. All my life that's what I heard, even before my mother died. The village women would whisper behind me and mother's back while we walked through the market or on the way to the fields. The kids wouldn't let me play with them. They would throw stones or sticks at me….and if I retaliated they would get their parents and say I attacked them for no reason. Then, when my mother died…I was chased out of the village. I lived on my own from that day forward…”A pained look crossed his face as he faded off. Suddenly he went into a fit of coughing.
Kagome helped him into a sitting position and rubbed his back until he stopped.
“I'm sorry, Inuyasha. I didn't know.”
“I know you didn't Kagome, I know…”
As Kagome helped Inuyasha lie back down, she slipped and fell on top of him, their faces almost touching. Miroku picked that very moment to walk in.
“Uh…I see you two have made up.”
A growl was heard from Inuyasha as a blushing Kagome stood up and brushed off her skirt.
“Leave. Now.” Kagome ordered Miroku, who wisely obeyed.

And that's where I'm going to stop. I hoped you liked it. I tried not to make them seem too OOC….I don't know if I succeeded or not. So…I hope to get the next chapter up soon. Hopefully in no more than a week. Now all I ask of you people is…review!
