Kouga wiped the batter off of his face as he looked down at the little girl. "That's not nice to do, small one." He reached for a towel and wiped the batter from his hair and face.

Mayu huffed and stood there glaring at him.

Inu Yasha walked out of his room, dressed, even though he didn't want to. "What's going on here?" he asked with a raised brow.

Kouga smiled at him as he finished cleaning up, "Nothing, Inu Yasha, it was an accident, I am sure."

Inu Yasha ruffled Mayu's hair as he walked past her and smacked Kouga's ass when he wasn't watching. Kouga faked shock and snapped the towel at Inu Yasha as he followed in behind him.

"Something smells good this morning," Kouga said with a smile as he and Inu Yasha walked into the kitchen.

Mayu chased after Inu Yasha and clung to his leg as he walked. "Momma's messy!" Mayu giggled and pointed at Kagome, who, like Mayu, was covered in pancake batter. The girl looked up from the last plate she sat on the table and laughed, "Yeah, because you made me that way!"

Kouga blinked. "Momma?" He looked to Kagome.

Inu Yasha patted Mayu on the head. "Go and get washed up, small fry, you're all sticky," he said with a smile.

Kagome paused for a moment and then sat the syrup on the table. She kept her head down and walked towards the bathroom. "I'd better wash up too..."she muttered as she brushed past.

Kouga looked at Inu Yasha. He just shrugged at the look and sat down to eat. Kouga dropped the subject and sat down next to him.

A bit later, Inu Yasha smiled as he heard the ruckus in the bathroom. He ate a pancake but he didn't eat anymore than that cause his stomach wasn't agreeing with him.

Kouga drank some juice and looked at Inu Yasha. "You don't look well, Yasha," he said as he reached over and felt Inu Yasha's forehead.

"I don't feel good...those medications do that to me..."Inu Yasha grumbled.

Then the streakers ran past.

Kagome flipped on the shower and tossed Mayu in, crawling in with her. Mayu turned around with a wash rag and started to scrub at Kagome's leg. Kagome laughed and crouched down, "Not yet, Mayu, you need soap first." She put soap on the little girls wash cloth, and scrunched up her face when she reached up and started wiping batter off of her face and neck.

Kagome laughed the snatched Mayu up and scrubbed her down in a matter of minutes. Mayu giggled and squealed, squirming in her grasp, trying to get out of the line of fire. Her eyes flew open and she grabbed the shampoo bottle, and squirted it at Kagome.

The older girl blinked a couple times with a face full of shampoo then started laughing. Mayu giggled and pointed at her face, "Momma, your hair's not on your face!"

Kagome laughed and wiped the shampoo off of her face then finished washing the two of them up. She got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around them both. Mayu made a face at her and bolted out the door. "Can't catch me!!" Kagome's eyes widened and she took off after Mayu out of reflex, chasing her through the living room and out the front door in nothing but a towel.

Inu Yasha and Kouga look over at the pair.

"Nice outfit, Kags," Inu Yasha said with a smirk, "Mayu, get dressed so I can take you and the boys out on a trail ride."

Kagome made a face at Inu Yasha and flipped him off then herded Mayu back into the bed room, pinching her butt, making her run off, squealing.

Inu Yasha laughed as he got up and walked outside with Kouga following in behind him.

Kouga nudged Inu Yasha's arm. "Are you well enough to do that?" he asked out of concern because the boy looked deathly pale.

Inu Yasha nodded. "I promised and I keep my word."

"Inu, I honestly think you should go back to bed and rest."

He rolled his eyes, "I am fine and you know I don't like staying in bed unless I have a good reason." He smirked. "Are you going to give me a good reason to go back to bed, Kouga?" he asked as he leaned back against him.

Mayu ran back out of the bedroom and shot over to the two men, wearing overalls and pigtails. She scowled up and Kouga and glomped onto Inu Yasha's leg.

Inu Yasha smiled down at the girl. "You ready to go riding?"

Kouga smiled at the pair and wrapped his arms around Inu Yasha's waist.

Mayu nodded and tugged on Inu Yasha's hand, pulling him to the car with her, away from Kouga. When they reached the vehicle, she shot Kouga a venomous look over her shoulder and stuck her tongue out at him, pulling down her bottom lid.

Kouga laughed. "Looks like I have competition for my Inu."

Inu Yasha laughed as they got into the car. "You know I'm always yours, so don't get jealous. Kagome, you're driving," he called to her. "You remember the way, right?"

Kagome came out of the house wearing cut offs, hiking boots, and an old flannel, another one she had found buried in the depths of Inu Yasha's dump, aka under his bed. She was tying a red ribbon around the end of one of her braided pigtails. She nodded and slid into the driver's seat. She checked the bandage on her neck, which she had place over the bite in the mirror quickly and made sure her collar was pulled up over it, covering the movement up by making it look like she was brushing her hair back. She started the car and peeled out of the drive way. After she hit a button, the top of her car moved back and lay down. She looked in her review mirror at Mayu and stuck her tongue out at her. "Flirt." Mayu giggled and wrapped her arms around Inu Yasha's waist as best she could.

Inu Yasha sat there with his arm draped over Mayu, enjoying the air that was blowing against his face. Kouga sat up front with Kagome with his shades on, enjoying the sun.

Kagome spied a huge puddle in the middle of the road and grinned wickedly. She sped up slightly and once she reached it, she jerked the wheel to the left, causing muddy water to spray all over Kouga, Inu Yasha, and Mayu.

Mayu brushed her shirt off and glared at Kagome in the review mirror. "Hey!"

Inu Yasha glared at Kagome. "Yeah! What the hell?"

Kouga wiped off the muddy water and went on like he was before.

Kagome laughed wickedly, looking into her review mirror at Mayu and Inu Yasha. "Shower number 2!" she chirped happily, speeding down the road like a man whose balls had caught fire.

Mayu stuck her hands into the air and giggled profusely. "WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

Inu Yasha shook his head. "Damn lunatic," he said in aggravation.

Kouga laughed. "A little water won't hurt you, Inu Yasha."

The younger man snorted. "You never know, it might," he retorted.

The driver rolled her eyes, "The only thing it could hurt on a man is his *ahem*; and that's only if it's cold water to make it shrivel. The only thing it could do to yours though is improve it, tiny Tim."

Mayu started making her fingers walk over Inu Yasha's chest.

He snorted, "You haven't ever seen it, so shut up."

Kouga rolled his eyes behind his sunglasses as he said, "You have to see it to believe it."

Kagome arched a slender brow, rounding a corner at breakneck speed. "I'm not even going to ask about the terrifying lack of definition he must posses."

Inu Yasha ground his teeth together as Kouga glared out at the scenery on his side of the vehicle.

"You're asking for it, Kagome...you're riding the damn donkey when we get to the stable. Since you're an ass, you should get along with it very well." Inu Yasha smirked and put his hands behind his head.

Kagome's eye's shot open, "Oh no, I don't ride animals. Thanks, but that's ok."

Mayu giggled and sucked her thumb.

Inu Yasha looked at her. "You don't like horses?" He raised a brow. "Do you prefer ATV's?"

She shook her head profusely, "If it doesn't have a seat belt, four wheels, a steering wheel, and an enclosed body, I don't get in or on it."

He rolled his eyes. "Chicken shit." He pulled out a pair of sunglasses and put them on. "You're getting on something today if I have to tie you on it."

Kagome laughed sarcastically, "I'd like to see you try to get me on something."

"Inu, if she doesn't want to ride anything, don't try to make her," Kouga said, looking at Inu Yasha in the side view mirror. Inu Yasha snorted and looked up at the sky.

Mayu grinned and tugged on his hair.

Inu Yasha turned to look at Mayu. "What is it, small fry?"

She giggled. "Mommy's scared!"

Kagome choked. "I am not!"

Inu Yasha laughed. "She is scared of what? A wittle horsey?? Like I said; chicken shit."

Kagome growled her eyes darkening, "They ARENT little!"

Kouga laughed. "Some are down right huge. Especially Clyde."

Inu Yasha laughed as well. "Now he is big."

Kagome jerked the wheel, taking the next corner as hard as she could.

Mayu squealed in delight and clapped her hands.

Kouga looked at Kagome. "Are we going to make it there in one piece?" he asked.

She glared straight ahead and growled, "I'm NOT getting on a horse."

"Fine, don't get on one. You ride on the wagon; we will hitch up Clyde," Inu Yasha said with a smirk.

Kagome turned the wheel quickly and sped up the driveway, slamming on her breaks as hard as she could by the house. "We're here," she spat venomously.

Kouga got out of the car quickly and opened the door for Inu Yasha. "Let's get going, before it gets any hotter out," Kouga said.

"Oh yeah, I forget you melt out in the sun," Inu Yasha said as he got out of the car.

Kouga smirked. "Most vampires do; all except you. You're the only vampire I know with a tan." Kouga laughed as he took Inu Yasha's hand, walking up the driveway.

Kagome got out and rolled her eyes slightly. "Oh, please, give me a break," she muttered. She scooped Mayu up and leaned against the car.

Inu Yasha called back to her, "Bite me!" as he and Kouga walked up into the yard, seeing the boys out riding in a power wheels truck.

Mayu looked up at Kagome as she fumed. "Why does Mommy get angry with Puppy?"

Kagome's eyes dropped down to the little girl in her arms who was playing with her locket again. She sighed slightly. "Because Mommy really really realllly doesn't like horses," she replied.

Mayu looked up at her. "Why not? They're pretty."

Kagome smiled. "Yes, they are pretty, but Mommy doesn't like being that high off the ground."

A grin broke out on the child's face and she wiggled out of her mother's grasp. "I'm telling Puppy!!!" she called over her little shoulder as she raced off to go tell the new bit of information to Inu Yasha.

Kagome looked at her for a moment then groaned, sinking down against the car. "I just can't win today," she muttered.

Inu Yasha looked over to the boys. "What are you runts doing outside?"

Shippou and Souta looked up at the sound of his voice. "Yash!" Souta yelled and ran over to him, hugging him around the leg. His uncle ruffled his hair, "Hey, there, runt," he said with a sly grin.

Kouga looked at Inu Yasha. "Stop calling him that," he scolded. Souta moved over to Kouga and gave him a hug. "Yea, tell him to stop, Kouga," Souta whined.

Mayu ran up to Inu Yasha, but stopped short when she recognized Shippou and Souta from the time Kagome brought them over to visit. She blinked and a whole, bright new grin blossomed across her face. "Souta!" she yelled excitedly, and raced over to the little boy.

Souta looked over to the girl and a bright smile came across his face as Shippou walked over, wanting Kouga to pick him up. "Hey, Mayu!" he yelled.

Kouga bent down and picked up Shippou, straightening out his long hair. "Child, you are a mess," Kouga said with a smile as Shippou laughed and tugged on his hair.

Mayu waved happily and looked up at Inu Yasha. "Puppy, mo-- err..." the little girl paused for a moment looking over at Souta and Shippou, "Kagome is hiding because she doesn't like it high."

Souta blinked. "She scared of being high?" He frowned. "That means she won't ride ponies today."

She nodded and looked up at Inu Yasha with a big pouty, irresistibly cute look on her face. "Make her ride once, please, Puppy?" She glomped his leg and nuzzled it. "She won't be scared after a little while."

He sighed. "I can't make her ride a horse; she has to do that on her own."

She let out a sad little, "Oh..." and sat down in the dirt, a crestfallen, heartbroken look on her little face.

Kouga looked at the girl. "Try to talk Kagome into riding, Inu, look at that poor girl." He motioned towards Mayu. Inu Yasha sighed. "I will try to get her to go to the stables with me later and let her pet the horses and maybe she will change her mind."

Mayu grinned and threw her arms around Inu Yasha's leg, "Thank you, Puppy!! You're a lot more fun than Daddy!"

Inu Yasha blinked and stood there, stunned, as Kouga smiled at him.

"Looks like you're collecting kids left and right, Inu."

"Mayu, you go and play while me and Kouga go and get Kagome and take her to the stable to see the horses."

Kouga put Shippou down and watched him run off towards the toys.

Mayu nodded and rushed off after Souta and Shippou.

Kagome sighed and dropped her head between her knees, and heaved a deep sigh, trying to clear her head. Her pigtails drug in the dust and she closed her eyes. "I need gun," she muttered.

She made a gun with her hand and pulled her thumb down. "Pow," she said quietly. She studied the ground, her eyes roaming over the grains of dust and dirt. "Oh, Mayu... what am I gonna do..."

Kouga and Inu Yasha walked over to Kagome. "You're gonna get your ass up and help me, is what you're gonna do," Inu Yasha said looking at her bowed head. "So, come on and let's go."

Her head shot up and she caught sight of the two men. Suspicion immediately entered her eyes, "Where are we going..."

"You're going to help me carry saddles out of the tack room," Inu Yasha said with a snort, "I'm disabled, and it would take Kouga forever to get them all saddled up alone."

Kouga nodded. "It takes a lot of time to do that, and I suspect we have to saddle a horse up for Nazuna, too," he said.

Kagome's face paled immediately at the thought of all the stomping feet and rearing horses with wild eyes. "B-but who's g-gonna watch the k-kids?" she stammered nervously.

"Okaasan will...come on, Kagome, help me, will ya?" Inu Yasha asked.

Kagome's eyes met Inu Yasha's for a millisecond but that was all it took. She groaned inwardly and stood up, brushing the dirt off of her butt. "Alright, let's go," she grumbled reluctantly.

Inu Yasha grinned as he grabbed Kouga's hand and walked down the path to the barn. "We need to get Brandy Wine saddled, along with Cherokee and Bandit," he stated to Kouga.

Kouga nodded. "I'm riding Cole," he said.

Inu Yasha growled. "The hell you will, that's my horse."

Kouga laughed. "I know, I was just kidding. I will take Bonnie out for a ride."

Inu Yasha nodded. "Ok…"

Kagome folded her arms across her stomach as she followed them into the barn. Her eyes flicked over the horses who all peered at her with curious eyes. "Which one's the one Mayu's gonna ride?"

Inu Yasha walked over to a bay pony and opened the stall door and grabbed the gelding by the halter, leading him out. "She will ride this one, he is called Bandit." The gelding shook his head, sending his black mane flying about. The gelding looked at Kagome and snorted and stomped his front foot as Inu Yasha held him by the halter.

Kagome yelped and jumped backwards from the horse, flinching.

The horse stepped back at Kagome's yelp and started acting nervous. "Kagome, don't show them you're scared; it makes them scared if you do," Kouga said, stepping over and patting the gelding on the neck.

Kagome forced herself to sand ramrod straight and not move; afraid the thing would shy and knock her in the face with its sharp looking hooves.

Inu Yasha tied the gelding and looked him over. "He looks ok to take out today," he said.

Kouga walked over to another stall and lead out a buckskin mare. He tied her up and walked into the tack room, pulling out an English saddle and carrying it over to the horse.

Kagome stood where she was, not having a clue of what she was supposed to do.

Kouga looked at Kagome. "Go into the room I just came out of and grab two small western pony saddles for Inu."

Inu Yasha stood there, feeding Bandit peppermint candies and petting his neck.

She nodded slightly, following his instructions, but walked slowly as she approached the horse, hugging close to a stall door. All of a sudden she felt a burst of air exploded on her head and felt something trying to eat her hair.

"Kya!" She winced but couldn't move as the horse got a good mouthful and yanked.

Inu Yasha looked up at the horse and swatted its nose. "Stop that shit, Cole!" he scolded the black stallion. The horse tossed its head and snorted. Its long black mane lay in waves down its neck and over its eyes.

Kagome rubbed her sore head and scowled, turning around ready to glare the horse right out the damn side of the stable, but nothing more than a gasp came out of her mouth as her eyes landed on the horse.

Inu Yasha took the horse by the halter and opened the stall door, letting him out. The horse's hooves clanked on the ground as his shoes hit the pavement. He patted the horse. "You wanna ride today boy?" he asked. The horse lowered his head and blew hot air into Inu Yasha's hair.

Kouga sighed. "You're going to kill yourself, Inu, give yourself time to heal."

Kagome stood enthralled with the black horse, her grip loosening on the saddle. Her eyes roved over the horse's body, from its flaring nostrils all the way down to its tail which flicked irritably at the flies.

Kouga saddled up the buskin and lead her around the barn a bit and rechecked the saddle. Inu Yasha lead Cole over and tied him next to the stall. The horse shook his head and pawed at the ground with his front hoof. "Calm down, Cole, you will get to go out today, don't worry," Inu Yasha said as he moved back over to the gelding. "Kagome, bring the saddle over, would ya?" He threw the saddle blanket on the pony.

She shook herself out of her stupor and walked over to Inu Yasha, handing him the saddle. "He's pretty..." she muttered.

Inu Yasha nodded. "Hell yeah, that right there is a race horse," he said as he took the saddle and threw it up on the pony. He bent down painfully, doing up the girth and cinch. Kouga nodded. "Inu has won a lot of races on that horse."

Kagome grunted and walked over to Inu Yasha and hip-bumped him out of the way. "Get outta here before you kill yourself, jockey." She reached down and expertly pulled the cinch, fastening it, and checking to make sure it wasn't too tight. She leaned away from the horse and looked at her handy-work proudly. 'Ya still got it, girl,' she thought to herself.

Inu Yasha snorted and walked over to Cole, grabbing his saddle and tossing it up on him. "Scared of horses my ass." He looked over Cole's back at Kagome. Kouga walked by them with another pony on a lead, a black one with a white mane and tail. "You sure you don't want to ride Kagome?" Kouga asked.

Kagome growled, "I never said I was scared of horses! I just said I didn't like riding something that could easily throw me off." She pointed to the scar running down the inside of her left leg, "I've already been thrown once. I'm not too keen to get on another one."

Inu Yasha snorted. "I have scars from horses worse than that." He cinched up Cole's saddle and then reaching for the bridle. Kouga finished saddling up the second pony and then moved to get his horse. He pulled a blood red mare from the stall and led her down the alley way tying her to get her saddled. The mare flung her head back and neighed as she danced about anxiously.

Kagome looked over to the mare and blinked. She wasn't too anxious to get a hoof in the stomach, but if she kept up like she was going, she was going to nail Inu Yasha right in the back. Her eyes darted from side to side trying to find someway to get Inu Yasha out of the line of fire without actually going up to the horse. She groaned inwardly as she realized that someone up above hated her, and took a few steps toward the mare, and grabbed hold of her halter, stroking her head gently, trying to get her to calm down enough so she could back her up a few steps so she wouldn't wind up branding her pain in the ass employer.

The mare calmed down and sniffed Kagome's shirt. Kouga walked over and tossed the saddle up onto Bonnie's back. "Now, Bonnie, are you out here showing off again?" Kouga laughed. "Don't mind her, Kagome, she is just high strung, it runs in the blood line."

The girl reached up and scratched the horses ear a bit, "Yea, well next time tie the high strung one a bit further away from gimpy. I haven't been paid yet this week." She turned around and brushed past the guys, only to get her hair yanked on as she passed Cole again. "Ack!"

Kouga laughed. "He must think your hair is hay." He finished saddling up Bonnie and patted her neck. "Are you done, Inu Yasha?" Kouga asked. Inu Yasha nodded as he pulled Cole's head away from Kagome.

"Yep, Kouga, come over and give me a leg up, would ya?" Kouga sighed and walked over to Inu Yasha and gave him a leg up. He swung his leg over the horses back and flinched. "Oh, that hurt...." He growled out as he pulled back on the horse's reigns.

Kagome stepped well out of the way, and was about turn around to move the ponies out of the way when Muuona appeared at the stable doors. "Kagome, hunny, someone's here to see you." A frown settled on the girl's face as she looked at Inu Yasha's mom. "He says his name is Hojo."
