The van zoomed down the road as the occupants paid no heed to the scenery, too caught up in their own self-created entertainment.

Inu Yasha smiled as he heard Kagome chime in as he sang. "That's when you came to me and said, 'Wish I could prove I love you, but does that mean I have to walk on water?' When we are older, you'll understand it's enough when I say so; and maybe some things are that simple"

A soft smile tugged at Kagome's lips as Nazuna's, Inu Yasha's, Sango's, and her own voice blended together. "When you walk away, you don't hear me say, please, oh, baby, don't go. Simple and clean, is the way that you're making, me feel tonight. It's hard to let go."

Mayu smiled and leaned back, listening to the song and snuggling into herself.

Inu Yasha smiled and stopped singing as the yawn he was fighting won.

Kouga cleared his throat. "Hey, you guys, I see ocean," he said.

Miroku perked up. "Oh, I see girls in bikinis!" he said, practically drooling on the window.

Mayu leapt up and strained her neck to stare out the window her eyes alighting onto the beach. "Yay!!!" she cried joyously.

Kagome's smile faded as she thought of what would happen as soon as this short vacation was over. Mentally shaking herself, she laid her priorities out in her mind. First, she would do her job and enjoy this vacation as much as possible. Then, she would worry about her resignation.

Souta clapped his hands. "I wanna play in the water!"

Shippou yawned and stretched, looking out the window.

Inu Yasha rolled down his window and took a deep breath. "Ocean air..."

Nazuna beamed and got a dreamy look on her face. "Oh my god, Sango, look at those hunks playing Volleyball!!" both girls squealed and leaned out the window.

Muuona rolled her eyes as her daughters rump waved around in her face, and brought her hand up, snapping her palm sharply against it.

Nazuna yelped and jumped, bumping her head on the window frame. "Mooom!" she whined.

Muuona huffed. "Keep your ass out of my face."

Kouga and Inu Yasha broke out into a fit of laughter at them.

"She can't help it, Okaa, its just so big she cant control where she points it," Inu Yasha teased his sister.

Nazuna growled at Inu Yasha and smacked him over the head. "Shut up, Bakamono!" she snapped.

Inu Yasha glared at her. "Bakayarou!" he snapped back.

She snarled and loomed over the seat at him, glaring darkly. "Omae..." Her lip curled as her arms tensed ready to let loose on a rampage of punches.

"Owwww Shimatta ..." Inu Yasha growled as his sister hit him. "Baka ja nai!" Inu Yasha shot back at her.

Fed up, Kagome stomped her foot. "ENOUGH!" Nazuna jumped and sat down abruptly at the strict command.

Inu Yasha blinked and looked at Kagome. "Nani?"

She pointed to where Kouga had parked. "We're here," she stated quietly.

He smirked and stuck his tongue out at Kagome. "Michigan." With that, Inu Yasha bounded out of the car, as Kouga did the same to get the bags out of the back of the van.

Infuriated, Kagome leapt past Miroku who was working on the kid's seatbelts and darted after Inu Yasha, chasing him for quite a while before throwing herself forward and tackling him to the ground. She grunted and crawled up on top of him glaring down at him.

"What did you call me???" she growled.

Inu Yasha laughed as he looked at her. "All I said was that you're so crazy; it was nothing bad." He chuckled.

Kagome grunted then rolled off of him, to save herself from any further embarrassment.

All the guys went around to the back of the van and started unloading all the heavy bags.

Inu Yasha growled "Damn Nazuna do you think you brought enough shit?"

Nazuna smirked and tossed her hair, throwing the boy a wink. "Oh you know it, I had to pack all my sex toys since I am gonna be away from my boyfriend for so long."

Sango snickered and shot a glance at Kagome who was now talking a bit louder, distracting the children from the dangerous turn of conversation.

Inu Yasha gagged and walked towards the hotel. "Nasty," he grumbled to himself.

Kagome tossed Souta over her shoulder, and hiked Shippou up onto her hip, carrying him like a sack of potatoes. Mayu clung to her leg as she drug her way to the hotel under the weight of the giggling children, falling behind the others as the girls raced up to catch up with the guys.

"Wee!!!" Shippou giggled as he held on.

Inu Yasha looked back over his shoulder. "Umm, Kagome, looks like you have a load to carry there," he said with a smirk.

She smiled at the kids who were clinging to her and gave her body a shake. "Yea, just a light one though."

He laughed as Kouga looked back at her. "Do you want me to carry one of them, Kagome?"

She shook her head, continuing to walk up to the hotel with Mayu smacking her butt and saying, "Yaw, Horsy, Yaw!"

The guys walked into the hotel loaded down with bags. Kouga walked up to the desk and handled the checking in business while Miroku put down a bag so he could grab Sango's ass.

Sango whipped around, and promptly introduced her smooth left palm with his firm tanned cheek.

Muuona fussed over Nazuna's bright pink head band that she wore for a while before Kouga came back, trying to fit in as much nagging as possible.

Kouga looked at everyone. "Alright, everybody, we have our rooms."He said as he handed out keys. "Nazuna and Muuona have room 203, me and Inu have room 205, Kagome and the kids have 207, and Miroku and Sango have 209." Kouga said with a small smile.

The throbbing red hand print on Miroku's cheek now had a gleaming twin on Kouga's as Sango stood there with her eye twitching.

Kouga and Miroku stood there, rubbing their war wounds. "Sango, no need to be violent, you have twin beds in the room," Kouga said quietly.

Miroku pouted. "Well, that's no fun."

Kagome snickered and raced over to the elevator, with the kids following behind her. She laughed loudly as they tackled her just as the doors shut on them and the elevator sped upwards.

Nazuna stared after them. "I hope Kagome has enough stamina, especially with those stitches, to keep up with those kids. It's going to suck being at the beach and not being able to go into the water," she lamented.

Inu Yasha looked at Kouga. "We could take care of the kids for a day and let her and Nazuna go to the spa that they have here in the hotel. What do you say, Kouga?"

Kouga smiled. "I suppose we could do that."

Sango leaned over the railing by the plants, peering at the fabric leaves. "Well what's the point of going to the spa if she can't at least go in the Jacuzzi?" she asked.

Miroku walked up beside her. "Well, I am sure we can find something for her to do."

Inu Yasha sighed. "I will take her shopping or something to make up for it."

Kouga looked at everyone. ''Well, we are not gonna get anything done if we don't go and get unpacked." He stated as he walked over towards the elevators.

Nazuna made a face at the back of Kouga's head and scooped a bag of hers up, prancing after him.

Inu Yasha and Miroku followed the others as Kouga held an elevator open for them to get on. Inu Yasha stepped inside. "I hate these things, it's like a coffin on strings," he grumbled.

Sango rolled her eyes and leaned back, crossing her long legs. "Oh stop whining, you big baby."

Nazuna snickered and high fived the girl.

Inu Yasha growled as the doors closed. "I will stop when you stop being you."

Kouga swatted Inu Yasha on the back of the head. "Stop, before you start a fight, Inu Yasha," He scolded.

"Stop acting like you're my father, Kouga," Inu Yasha shot back with a glare.

Muuona glared at both of the boys. "Stop acting like you are old married men.

Inu and Kouga blushed and looked away from each other, huffing as the elevator stopped on their floor.

A screech came from down the hall in the kids' and Kagome's room as they walked down the hall. Sango pushed open the door as she got there and saw the kids pinning Kagome down as Mayu tickled her sides mercilessly. The older girl was beginning to shriek in pain from the pressure being applied, but tried not to show it, or lash out in her agony and accidentally hurt one of the kids.

Inu Yasha walked into the room and saw what was going on. "Hey, get off of her, you guys, and I mean now," he ordered.

Souta and Shippou backed away from Kagome. "Sorry, Yasha," Souta said quietly.

Mayu scrambled off of the top of her, stepping back at the tone in his voice and Kagome's arm immediately wrapped around her tender side, but she put on a smile. The only place the torment she had been feeling was evident in was her eyes.

"Hey, Yash, what's up?" she croaked.

His face softened. "Well, I was thinking that we could get okaa to watch the kids, and we all can go out for a bit to see what there is to do in this big sand box." Inu Yasha smiled as he finished.

A shade drew on Kagome's face as her purpose was brought up into her mind again. A more forced smile worked its way into place as she looked at him.

"No, that's ok, Inu Yasha. I appreciate the offer, but I'm not laying my job off on your mother while we're here. I'm still working, she's on vacation, and I refuse to switch the roles."

A scowl instantly crossed his face. "Kagome, come out with me." His voice held a warning that he wasn't to be disobeyed.

She gave him a level gaze that equaled her tone as she stood. "I'm sorry, Inu Yasha, but you hired me as your nanny, not your new best friend." She turned and walked over, grabbing the bags that Kouga had set inside the door and began unpacking them and putting them into drawers.

Muuona tugged on Nazuna and Kouga telling them that she needed their help to finish unpacking and Miroku and Sango soon took off as well.

Inu Yasha's eyes clouded over. "Kagome, is this about what happened before?" he asked as he walked farther into the room.

Mayu and the boys soon occupied themselves in a game of wrestle mania while the two stood around the front of the room.

Still unpacking and refolding clothes, Kagome refused to lift her eyes to his. "What are you talking about, Inu Yasha?" she asked quietly.

He froze in mid step and stiffened. "Kagome, you know what I'm talking about don't act dumb."

She took a deep breath and looked up at him finally. "I didn't want to bring this up until later, Inu Yasha, but now is as good a time as any." Her eyes dropped to her hands which were slowly beginning to clench Shippou's t-shirt a bit tighter as she tried to think of how to phrase her next words.

Inu Yasha's heart jumped into his throat as he spoke. "You're going to quit, aren't you?" He reached out for her hands. "I swear, Kagome, I wont do it again, I promise!" His voice cracked with desperation.

If the person who said your eyes were the windows to your soul were right, then Kagome had no doubt that Inu Yasha could see the heart break in her silver pools of sight. Tears stung at her eyes as she squeezed his fingers slightly. Her eyes fell onto the children and she spoke softly, as they continued to play, unaware of what was going on. "Inu Yasha, it's more that..." she slowly trailed off.

Inu Yasha tilted his head and looked at her. "I swear, Kagome, I won't do it again, I won't fight with you anymore... Please, I promised Mayu I would take care of her." He squeezed her hands gently. "Don't make me go back on my word, Kagome."

She stared down at the floor, studying the waves and dips of the carpet.

"Are you talking about waking me up, or the kiss?" she whispered.

"What ever I did to make you uncomfortable, I will stop," Inu Yasha said as he bit his lip. "I'm sorry, Kagome, honestly I am."

She gave a half hearted smirk, trying to lighten the mood. "Honestly, you are just not wanting me to go because I'm the only person who would put up with you for this long and for as little pay as you give me," she chuckled.

Hurt crossed his face as he pulled his hands away. "If...if you want to do it, I can't stop you, I don't guess." Inu Yasha turned and walked to the door pausing a minute as he opened. "I'm sorry, Kagome." He then rushed out into the hall, closing the door as he walked out.

Tears stung at the back of her eyelids as she turned back to the clothes. With her back to the kids, they couldn't see her trembling hands as the shirt dropped back into the suitcase.

"LECHER!!!!"

A loud resounding smack signaled the point when Sango decked Miroku, and shoved him out into the hall, right into Inu Yasha's path.

Inu Yasha and Miroku collided in the hall.

"Owwww, Miroku, watch where you're going, damn it!" Inu Yasha spat out at his friend.

Miroku blinked at him. "Sorry, Inu, Sango just threw me out of the room," he said in self defense.

Inu Yasha growled. "What were you doing, grabbing her again?!" he yelled. "Cant you keep your damn hands to yourself?!"

Miroku backed up; his best friend was starting to scare the hell out of him.

Sango's eyes flew to Inu Yasha's face, studying his eyes for a moment. She grabbed him and yanked him into the bedroom, and locked the door so Miroku couldn't get in. She turned to look at the boy and scowled slightly. "What's wrong?" she asked.

Inu Yasha shook his head and ran a hand over his eyes. "Nothing ..." he retorted. "I guess I'm just tired."

She folded her arms over her chest and pushed him back into the room to sit at the counter. She poured him a cup of coffee she had been making when Miroku decided to caress her buns. "Two ways I can tell you're lying. 1. You have got that same tragic look on your face you had when you thought Kagome was going to die and you never thought you would see her again. 2. The only time a guy gets "tired" is when their girlfriend, boyfriend, sex toy, whatever, has more sexual stamina than they do."

Inu Yasha scowled. "I'm still hurt too, you know. I guess its taking more out of me than I thought it would."

Miroku stood in the doorway. "Man, you scared the piss out of me in the hall," he said as he looked at his friend.

Sango arched a brow and sat back. "It seems to me that Inu Yasha thinks Kagome's gonna vanish off the face of the planet," she comment bluntly to the letch across the room from her.

Miroku stood there a moment, thinking. "Is Hojo bothering her again?"

Inu Yasha lowered his eyes to his cup of coffee and whispered. "No, not him..."

The girl's brows shot up on her forehead as her eyes shone with sudden understanding. "Oooooooh....."

He scowled and stood up. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."

Miroku watched as his friend marched out the door and down the hall to his room. "Ummm, I am so out of the loop on this one," he said as he looked back to Sango.

Sango was battling with a smug, I-told-you-so smirk, and a look of worry and pity. She simply looked at Miroku. "He's just worse than you at handling women. She's gonna quit."

Miroku looked shocked. "She is threatening to do that again? I thought I talked her out of it, one time, already."

The girl arched a brow. "I think she means it this time, if she told him. And by the look on his face... he doesn't want her to go." She turned and poured herself some coffee.

"Then maybe you should talk some sense into that hard headed girl," Miroku stated as he watched her.

She shook her head. "This is their deal. It's never going to come to a resolution if everyone is always fixing their problems for them. They need to grow up and take it into their own hands."

Miroku sighed and sat down. "You're right but I don't want to see them miserable, and if I know Inu, he is sulking in his room because he is being torn in two directions."

Sango nodded a few times. "Love sucks."

Miroku laughed "Especially for poor Inu Yasha."

She smirked. "Especially for my poor ass."

Miroku tilted his head and gave her puppy eyes. "I am sorry, Sango, but it's such a nice ass; I have to grab it."

Rolling her eyes, she threw a towel at him and pushed him backwards.

Kagome put the last jacket away and opened the door for the kids to rush out and down the hall, attacking Kouga who was still helping Muuona and Nazuna. Kagome walked slowly down the hall and knocked softly on Inu Yasha's hotel room door.

Inu Yasha lay on the bed, half asleep. "Nani wa?" he asked in a groggy voice as he rolled over to look at the door.

She pushed it open slowly and stepped into the room, closing it quietly behind her. Not saying a word, she walked over to the boy and sat on the floor beside his bed, draping her arm over her knee and leaning her head on her arm.

"It's not that I don't want you to ...show me affection..." she stared down at her dirty chipped nails. "It's that you aren't showing it to me... you're showing it to the girl you see when you look at me."

Inu Yasha buried his face into his pillow, mumbling, "Nemuritai..." He yawned. "For right now, all I want is sleep, Kagome, and all I can say is sorry." Inu Yasha turned his head, mumbling to himself in Japanese.

The irritated girl shot to her feet, and stormed out. She rounded up the kids to hustle them downstairs and out to the beach in a whirlwind of bathing suits and buckets and floaties.

Inu Yasha squeezed his eyes shut. "Damn it, I keep forgetting, she doesn't know much Japanese ...Shit, shit, shit." He cursed himself as he sat up and pulled his sandals on. Inu Yasha got up and walked out the door looking for Kagome.
