InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Falling For the Baby Sitter ❯ Beach Time... ( Chapter 43 )
Squeals and giggles came from the posse gathered around the elevator. Mayu had slipped into a cute Scooby-Doo one piece and Kagome was wearing a simple and sheer black one piece and a pair of blue jean cut-offs and was piled down by a tower of sand toys.
Souta tugged at Kagome's hand while he held Shippou's hand with his other. "Where is Yasha?"
Her eyes darkened slightly but she flashed a smile at the boy. "He's sleeping." Her answer was short, but she knew if she stayed on the subject of her employer for long, she was going to break.
Inu Yasha walked down the hall and saw them at the elevator. "Oi, Kagome, chotto matte kudasai," he called out and then growled to himself. "Damn it ...I must be tired, I can't pick a language and stick with it."
Mayu, who had suddenly started squealing about what she wanted to do once they got to the beach, had distracted the boys from their uncle. Kagome, however, had heard him, just chose to shoot him the faintest of glances before stepping into the elevator.
"Kagome, wait, damn it!" he called out again and started running for the elevator.
Mayu's eyes shot up just as Kagome glanced again at Inu Yasha while the doors started to close. She threw him a questioning glance and a hurried expression.
Inu Yasha reached the elevator as the doors closed. He pounded his fists on the heavy steal doors. "Bukkoroshite yaru zo!" he yelled as he turned and stomped back to his room.
Sango stood in his way and arched a brow. "Go put your suit on and spend some time with the kids. Kouga has to fix a problem with the manager in ya'lls bedroom so you can't hide in it, and I know you have nothing better to do." She turned and shrugged slightly. "Who knows, you may actually remember to speak English while you are with them."
Inu Yasha growled. "Urasuai..baka." He flipped her off as he walked down the hall.
Miroku walked towards Sango in a pair of purple and black swim trunks. "Who is Inu threatening to kill out here now?" he asked.
Sango's brow was twitching as she ignored Miroku and barked down the hall at Inu Yasha's retreating back. "Big words from a man who's too pussy to talk to his babysitter!" she spat as she slammed the door to her room.
Inu Yasha kept walking and yelled back. "Hirogeru onna!"
Nazuna appeared out of no where, glaring at him, before slapping a pair of swim trunks against his chest, steering him down the hall and shoving him into an elevator she had preset for the ground floor, waving goodbye as the doors closed and the machine plummeted downward.
He glared after Nazuna. "All I want to do is take a nap, Nazuna. What's so damn wrong with that?" Inu Yasha asked as he looked at the swim trunks.
He sighed as the elevator doors opened and let them off. "I don't really feel like doing this, and where in the hell is Kouga?"
Nazuna huffed and drug him outside and down to the beach. "You obviously didn't hear Sango. He's busy with something upstairs." She shoved him into a little changing shack by the life guard stand and stood guard by the door. "Now, hurry up before I come in there and dress you myself."
Inu Yasha snorted and changed over into his red swim trunks. "What do I do with my clothes?" he asked as he stepped out.
She held out a bag and allowed him to drop them into it. "Now, get down there before I tell Sango you are being a chicken shit again." She whirled around and stomped off, spraying him in wet sand as she left.
Inu Yasha walked down the beach towards Kagome and the kids. His long black hair falling down over his shoulders and back swung in the breeze. "Damn, everyone is just pushing it with me today."
Kagome laughed and protected her stitched from the water the kids flung at her. They were currently burying her in the sand, saying they were going to make her a mermaid.
She sputtered and laughed as they "sculpted" the sand that covered her from neck down.
Inu Yasha laughed as he walked up and looked down at Kagome. "Having fun?" he asked.
She made a face at him and stuck her tongue out. Mayu leapt up and grabbed Inu Yasha, pulling him down on the other side of Kagome's chest where she was working on sculpting the bra-type thing. Holding his hands over her mom's left breast, she explained to him how to pat the sand in good and wet so it would stay and be easier to work with.
Inu Yasha blushed. "Uhhhhh, I think I will let you guys bury Kagome." He pulled his hands back into his lap.
Kagome's burning face turned away as the kids continued to mold her in with sand.
He looked out at the water, watching the waves roll in and out.
The pounding surf roared in Kagome's ears as she lost herself in her thoughts.
He smirked as he looked back over at Kagome. "Why did you get so mad at me when you were in my room?"
Kagome stiffened and acted as if she didn't know what he was talking about. "I just cleaned the damn thing and it's already a mess."
Inu Yasha sighed. "I meant my hotel room. You didn't think I was cursing at you, did ya?"
Her eyes closed and her head tilted back. "I don't care what you were doing."
"I wasn't cursing; all I said was that I wanted to sleep; I sometimes speak Japanese when I am really tired," Inu Yasha said as he looked back out at the water.
Her eyes opened slowly as she stared up at the clouds. "Why are you trying to explain yourself to me?" she asked quietly.
He lowered his head. "I didn't want you to be mad at me."
She eyed him for a moment then leaned her head to the side, debating on whether to rub her face against his fingers that lay mere inches away. "I'm not mad..." she murmured.
Inu Yasha closed his eyes and took a deep breath of salty ocean air. "Arigatou."
Unable to tear away, Kagome studied his peaceful exterior, letting the wind toss her hair against his bare skin.
Miroku and Sango walked down the beach. "Sango come on be nice to me for once," he pleaded with her.
Sango sighed and turned to him, the barely their white swim suit shifting. "Give me one reason why I should."
The boy was almost drooling. "Ummm, uhhhh, cause I'm good looking and loveable," he said with a smile.
A brow arched high on the girl's forehead before something caught her eye. She gripped Miroku's arm tightly and pointed over to wear the kids, Kagome, and Inu Yasha were. "Oh how cute! Look!"
Miroku sighed. "Yeah, down right adorable."
Inu Yasha sat there, looking out at the ocean, and rambling on about nonsense when Shippou ran by and dumped a bucket of sand on his head.
Sango gasped and a hand flew to her mouth as the shock had made him fall over and land on top of the Kagome sand-hill with his face inches from hers. The girl beneath Inu Yasha's face turned a solid crimson as she looked up directly into his eyes.
He looked at Kagome his face matching hers. "Gomen...Kagome," he said as he sat back brushing the sand off him and out of his hair.
Kagome blushed and turned her face as far from his as she could. "Dijoubo..."
Inu Yasha smiled. "Well, that was interesting..." he said with a laugh. "First time anyone tried to bury me before trying to kill me."
A sudden shriek came from the girl beside him. "Inu Yasha, help!!" A rather menacing looking crab was inching up her stomach and over her chest. She was still buried under the mound of sand and unable to defend herself from the creature, and as a result was becoming none to comfortable.
The boy looked at the crab and picked it up by a claw. He held it out away from his face and looked at it. "Looks like we caught lunch," Inu Yasha said as he swung it around and dangled it in front of Kagome's face. "Go ahead and cook it, Kags."
She squealed and shrunk back. "Stop it!!!" she whimpered, her lip trembling pathetically.
"It's just a crab, Kagome," he stated as he threw it out towards the water. "Not like its going to eat you."
Miroku took this opportunity to make a remark and yelled out. "Hey, Inu, you do know that a doctor can give you something for those, don't ya?" He grinned and hid behind Sango.
Kagome took this as her cue and the perfect time to get back at Inu Yasha. "EWWW!! You mean you gave me crabs!! Inu YASHA!!"
Sango's jaw dropped as she stared at the two in front of her.
Inu Yasha literally fell over and then he glared at Miroku. "Damn mother fucking pervert," he growled out as he pushed himself up and to his feet taking off after Miroku.
"Oh shit." Miroku took off like a bat out of hell with Inu Yasha hot on his tail.
"Sango, I'm killing your boyfriend, so you're not getting any tonight!" Inu Yasha yelled back at her.
Sango growled at this and scooped up a large shell and chucked it at Inu Yasha. It pinged off of the back of his head and then clattered back to the ground.
Inu Yasha kept running even though he was hit and tackled Miroku to the ground. "Now, what were you saying, smart ass?!" he asked as he pressed Miroku's face into a small sand bank.
Miroku mumbled and Inu Yasha pulled his head out of the sand.
"I said that you should get some kind of medication for those things." Miroku said as he started laughing again. Inu Yasha growled and shoved his head back into the sand.
Kagome who had finally gotten her self free and bolted after the boys, threw herself at them, and shoving Inu Yasha off of Miroku and tumbling down the beach with him. She finally rolled to a stop beneath him and gripping his arms tightly. "You're gonna suffocate him!"
Inu Yasha glared up at her. "I was not gonna suffocate him."
Miroku pulled his head out of the sand and shook his head sending sand flying every where. "I'm fine, Kagome, he has done that to me since we was kids; I haven't died yet."
Kouga walked down the beach towards the others spying Inu Yasha running after Miroku a few yards back. "I'm afraid to ask what's going on," Kouga said as he looked at the group.
Kagome huffed and shoved her hands roughly against Inu Yasha's chest. "Well, now we know why he always does that. He gets a free chance to grind his hips into your ass, and the boner he gets from it is now digging into my stitches!" she spat, not having heard Kouga.
Kouga's jaw dropped and Miroku turned bright red.
A flash of hurt crossed Inu Yasha's face. "Gomen, Kagome." He turned his eyes towards the others. "Sorry, Miroku," he said quietly.
Kagome's mouth shut and she sat up slowly. Her eyes flicked between Miroku and Kouga and then Sango before they finally settled on Inu Yasha. She felt a hand squeeze around her throat and something clench in her chest. Why had she said that? Her face turned dark crimson and her face lowered.
"G-gomen..." she muttered so low that only Inu Yasha could hear her before she darted back to her charges.
Inu Yasha stood up and dusted himself off. "Kouga, give me the key to the room, I need to go and get cleaned up," he said as he held his hand out waiting for the key.
Kouga sighed and pulled it out of his pocket, handing it to him. "Be ready for dinner tonight, Inu. We all are going out tonight, "Kouga said to Inu Yasha's retreating back.
"Yeah, yeah, fine, whatever," he mumbled. Inu Yasha marched up the beach to the hotel and went inside to get away from everybody.
Sango settled herself beside Miroku and looked up at him. "Hey..."
Miroku looked at her. "Huh? What?"
She gave him a half smile. "You never did tell me what you though of my suit."
Miroku smiled. "It's nice, but I would prefer to see you in your birthday suit." He held his hands up in front him. "Kidding, joking ...one escape from near death today is enough for me."
Deciding to be generously evil, the girl leaned in a bit and winked at him. "Well, maybe later, if you're lucky."
Inu Yasha lay down on the bed after he took a shower and looked at his arms and cringed at the scars on his wrists. "Why couldn't it have ended then, instead of making me stay here in pain?" he asked himself.
Kagome scooped the two children who had finally collapsed up and draped them over her shoulder. She tossed the toys together and drug them up the hill to the hotel with Souta rubbing his eyes and tagging along behind her.
"Ok, bed time for you guys. It's already eight o'clock. By the time I get you guys showered and ready for bed it will be nine and you guys will be dead asleep."
Kouga walked up behind Kagome. "Let me carry some of that for you, Kagome," he said as he picked up Souta and took a bag of toys from her hand. "You're going to kill yourself carrying all this stuff."
She gave a wary smile and looked back down at the ground. "Thanks..." she trailed off and shifted Mayu's and Shippou's weight. "I need to get a wagon or something for them," she laughed wryly.
He smiled. "Either that or a pack mule."
She feigned a gasp. "But Kouga, then you would be out of a job!" She laughed slightly.
Kouga laughed. "I'm sure I could find something to do," he said as he opened the hotel door for her.
She stepped in and strode over to the elevator. While they waited she studied the children's faces. "They are adorable...I think that as soon as I get them situated in bed that I'm going to draw a picture of them." She smiled up at him. "No better way to spend a peaceful night."
He looked at her. "You don't want to go out with us to eat? Muuona said she was going to stay in, cause she got sunburned. I figured she could watch the kids and you could come out with us."
Kagome let out another sigh and shook her head. "Kouga, the reason I was hired was to baby-sit the children. Too many times have I already left them in the care of Muuona. She should be out having fun." She stepped into the elevator and punched in their floor number.
Kouga thought for a minute. "Alright then, do you want me to bring you back anything?" he asked as he followed her in and adjusting Souta's sleeping form on his shoulder.
She gave a wry smile. "Lots and lots of coffee for tomorrow morning." A wince settled over her features as she shifted position. "Oh, and my pain killers out of my purse. I left it down in the van and I only have a few more in my pocket."
He nodded. "I will bring you something back to eat, too."
She smiled softly. "Ok, that would be nice." The elevator came to a stop and she stepped out and strode down the hall. After unlocking the door she quickly went to work, getting the children settled and washed and dressed for bed. "Thank you, Kouga," she said, not looking up at him.
Kouga smiled. "It was no problem; I only wished it was this easy to please Inu Yasha." He turned and walked to the door. "If you need anything, call and let me know, ok?" Kouga walked out into the hall and shut the door behind him.
She paused at his comment of pleasing Inu Yasha and then finished walking about the room setting stuff up.
Mayu yawned and sat up, rubbing her eyes. "Mommy?" she rasped quietly.
Kagome looked over to her and smiled. "Hey, Mayu, it's ok, I'm here you can go back to sleep."
Her little girl peered up at her. "I had a bad dream about Daddy..."
Kagome sighed softly and scooped her up into her arms. "I'm sorry..."
Kouga walked into his and Inu Yasha's room, seeing Inu Yasha sitting on the bed with his head hung down. "Inu Yasha, what's the matter?" He asked as he approached him.
Inu Yasha looked over at him with blood shot eyes. "Kouga, I can't stop doing it, I'm sorry, I thought I wouldn't ever do it again," he said barely above a whisper.
A look of confusion crossed his face. "What are you talking about, Inu?" Kouga asked.
Inu Yasha held out his arms and the sleeves of his robes fell back to show some deep cuts to his arms and blood running down them. "Don't let them send me back, Kouga ...I don't want to go back," Inu Yasha said as he let his arms drop into his lap.
Kouga covered his mouth with his hand. "I thought...we were over this Inu Yasha?" Kouga muttered as he went over and hugged the younger man.
"I guess not," Inu Yasha mumbled.
Mayu pointed to her mom's guitar case. "Will you sing to me now?"
Kagome gave a soft smile and nodded. "Alright, Mayu."
She picked up the little girl and walked over, and grabbed the guitar, sitting down in the chair beside the door that led to Inu Yasha's and Kouga's room. She strummed her fingers over the strings humming slightly trying to get the right tune in her head.
"Hold on to me, love," she sang in a soft haunting tone;
"You know I can't stay long,
All I wanted to say was I love you and I'm not afraid,
Ohhhh," She smiled softly at Mayu who closed her eyes and leaned up against her mother's chest.
"Can you hear me?
Can you feel me in your arms?
Holding my last breath,
Safe inside myself,
Are all my thoughts of you,
Sweet raptured light it ends here tonight."
Kouga heard Kagome playing and singing as he stroked Inu Yasha's hair. "Let me go and get Sango, and let her come and clean up your arms, Inu Yasha, I don't think they need anything but bandaging."
Inu Yasha nodded and laid back on the bed as Kouga rushed out of the room and down the hall to Sango and Miroku's room.
Kouga reached out and knocked on the door.
Sango opened the door slowly. "Yes?" she asked as she peered up at Kouga, tugging her bathrobe securely around her, her hair dripping from having just gotten out of the shower.
"I miss the winter,
A world of fragile things,
Look for me in the white forest,
Hiding in a hollow tree,
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."
Kagome's eyes drifted closed as she rocked Mayu back and forth slowly, lulling her into her gently voice, unbeknownst to the other part of her audience next door finding solace in her words.
Inu Yasha lay on the bed and held his arm up in front of him watching the blood drip down onto the bed.
Kouga looked at her. "I need you to come mine and Inu's room, we have a bit of a problem, and bring your first aid kit, he's hurt."
Sango nodded and did as he instructed, rushing out of the room after him.
"Holding my last breath,
Safe inside myself,
Are all my thoughts of you,
Sweet raptured light it ends here tonight.
Closing your eyes to disappear,
You pray your dream will leave you here,
But still you wake and know the truth,
No one's there.
Say goodnight,
Don't be afraid, calling me, calling me, as you fade to black."
The woman lowered her voice slowly as she finished singing, letting the little girl drift in her slumber and the man's body numb comfortably.
Kouga ran to the room and opened the door to see Inu Yasha looking at the cuts on his arms. "Oh God, don't let this be happening again?" He walked farther into the room looking at a vacant Inu Yasha staring at his wounded arm. "It's his arms, Sango."
Kouga said as he stood frozen to the spot on which he stood.
Sango quickly went to work as she bustled about, cleaning his arms and binding them quickly, wrapping them in bandages. Her fingers shook as her gaze fell on his pallid face. She gave him a few pills for pain and looked up at Kouga. "Do you want him to rest or come out with us tonight? The change of scenery might do him some good, but then the rest might too."
Kouga stood there as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. "Inu Yasha, do you feel like coming out tonight?"
Inu Yasha's looked up to Kouga. "I don't want to be left alone, Kouga," he said as he looked down at his bandaged arms. "I will go with you."
Sango glanced between the two men, and then nodded. "I'll finish getting ready; Miroku is already downstairs with Nazuna and Muuona." She walked out of the room and back down the hall.
Kouga rushed over to the closet and pulled out a long sleeved black dress shirt and a pair of black jeans for Inu Yasha and helped him get dressed.
Inu Yasha pulled on a pair of boots and walked out the door with Kouga no more than a foot from him watching him like a hawk.
Sango met them out in the hall and walked with the boys down to the lobby and met up with the others. Nazuna and Muuona looked up and smiled warily. "You guys ready?"
Kouga smiled. "We are ready, and we have enough time to get there for our reservations." Inu Yasha yawned and looked uninterested.
The girls smiled and linked arms with the guys to march off into the night heading for their destination.
