InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Falling For the Baby Sitter ❯ Storoms of the Heart ( Chapter 56 )
Kagome groaned and flopped down in the kitchen chair. She had just put the kids down for the night and given them all a bath.
Dinner had been hectic, but not unexpectedly so. Just a few upset dishes and so forth. But having to give a sex talk to two four year olds?! That was another story. Christ, she had just created two more Miroku's! She groaned and rubbed her temples, reveling in the peace and quiet. Everybody had finally cleared out, leaving her, the kids, and bitchy boy who was currently in the shower.
Inu Yasha walked out of the shower wearing a towel around his waist and one across his shoulders.
The young woman under his employment arched a brow and yawned again. "Nice toga, Apollo."
The man struck a pose and flexed a muscle. "I do look like a God, don't I?" he said with a laugh.
Kagome laughed and shook her head. "Yea, one who's been through a meat grinder."
He shrugged and walked to the fridge to get a Coke. "Yeah, I'm a walking scar."
The girl nodded towards the counter top where a brown bag sat. "Miroku and some guy named Hachi stopped by and left you that. Said you'd want it after your past few days. "
Inu Yasha shut the fridge and looked at the bag. "Keep that away from me, if it's what I think it is."
An eyebrow arched on her head. "What do you think it is?"
"Open it and tell me what it is," he said as he opened his drink.
Kagome stood up and peeked into the bag. Her eyes flew open and her gaze shot to Inu Yasha, disbelief showing in her eyes. "Oh my god, it's a bomb!"
Inu Yasha rolled his eyes and set his drink down on the counter. "What is it, really?"
She shrugged and pulled the bottles out of the bag. "Just some Bacardi, Ever Clear, and a sour mash."
He breathed a sigh of relief as he walked over and picked up the bag and headed down the hall.
Kagome eyed him suspiciously, and then leaned against the counter, eyeing the object she had pulled out of the bag. A scowl settled over her features as she looked at the 'gift bag' and its contents.
Inu Yasha put the alcohol away and pulled on some clothes. He walked back down the hall. "So, how long did Miroku and Hachi stay?" he asked as he walked over to the couch.
The young woman put the small sandwich bag on the counter and flipped on the faucet. "Long enough for Hachi to try and sell me some acid," she said plainly.
Inu Yasha raised a brow. "He left me a gift in the bag, didn't he?"
Kagome shrugged again and pushed the chairs into the table. "About five pills and a gram."
"I'm sure Miroku didn't know of it, and if he did, he would have thrown it away," Inu Yasha said as he ran a hand over his face.
The girl leaned against the counter and folded her arms over her chest, looking level at the man in the room across from her. "Is that a fact?"
"Yes, it's a fact, Miroku doesn't like drugs, and he sure as hell would give me a lecture on the sins of using them, if he knew I had some," he said as he closed his eyes.
Kagome arched a brow and then turned around. "Good, then you won't mind if I sell the drugs to buy the kids some new stuff." She started putting dishes away as she spoke.
"If the kids need new stuff, just tell me, and I will give you money, just throw that shit in the trash."
The girl turned and stared at him for a moment more. "Are you going to go digging it out of there later?"
He shook his head no. "Don't need it, hell, flush it if you want."
Kagome smiled sweetly. "All of it? Even the bag of danks I found in the bottom of the hall closet while cleaning the other day?
Inu Yasha blinked and then looked up at her. "What?"
The girl scowled. "If you tell me now that you have stopped using that crap, I will believe you. Because the stuff I found in the closet was old. But if I find out that you are using that shit again, Miroku's not the only who's gonna be giving you a lecture."
Inu Yasha scowled. "I don't need a mother; I already have one, thank you very much."
Kagome's control wavered for a matter of seconds and she lashed out by slamming her fist into the freezer, leaving none a too friendly looking dent. "I'm being a mother to those damn kids, Inu Yasha!" she snapped. Her eyes flashed with anger. "You think that you are invincible, don't you?! Well, let me tell you something you're not. And if you aren't going to give a damn about yourself, at least give them half of a thought."
She took a few steps toward him, struggling to keep the volume of her voice low. "You know what happens when you die from overdosing, or just even get caught with that shit?? They go to Sesshoumaru! And if they get a hold of it before the cops do, you better be running for the hills, because I'll be all over your ass like white on rice. This is one of the main reasons I shot that asshole, Hojo!"
Inu Yasha glared at her. "Look at me, does it look like I use the shit anymore?!" he snapped back as he walked over to the door and slipped on his shoes.
Kagome sighed and sat back against the wall. "Inu Yasha, just please tell me you aren't. I just have to hear you say the words that you aren't using drugs." Her hair fell over her eyes and her voice fell the last couple notches till she was almost whispering.
Inu Yasha reached out and grabbed his leather jacket. "I'm not using it, Kagome. I haven't done that in years," he said as he walked out the door.
"Inu Yasha, wait!" Kagome cried out as she lunged for the door.
"Mommy?" a little voice asked, startling Kagome so she dropped her grip. She turned to find Mayu staring at both herself and Inu Yasha with a strange expression on her little face.
Inu Yasha pulled on his jacket as he walked across the yard and to the drive way. He fished the keys to his car out of his pocket. "I got to get out of here," he muttered to himself.
Kagome sighed and gave her daughter a small wave back to bed. She raced out the door to go catch Inu Yasha, leaving Mayu staring after her in her pajamas. "Inu Yasha, stop!" she pleaded and grabbed his arm.
Inu Yasha looked up from just unlocking his car door. "What?"
She sighed and threw her hands up into the air. "I'm...I'm sorry. It's just... well, hell. If you were me what would you have done?"
He raised a brow as he leaned onto his car. "Listen, my past is just that, my past, if I was doing something, you would know it."
The girl ran a hand through her hair and nodded, looking down at the ground. She took a deep shaky breath trying to calm herself and not sound melodramatic. "I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions and exploded like that."
Inu Yasha sighed. "It's ok, Kagome, I understand. All I do is drink now a days, and take the medication that I'm suppose to take."
Kagome nodded and motioned towards the car he had been unlocking. "When will you be back?" she asked quietly.
He shrugged. "I don't know, I was just going to go out for a while." Inu Yasha smiled. "I shouldn't be long, and you have my cell number if you need me."
Kagome gave a short laughed at the way the conversation had switched around. "Yes, dear husband, and should I have a hot bath waiting for you when you get home?" she asked in a meek voice, looking up at him through her eyelashes demurely.
He rolled his eyes and sat down in the driver's seat of his car and turned over the engine.
Kagome smiled slightly and stepped back, watching him as he started the car, and tucking her hands into her sleeves.
Inu Yasha smiled as he backed out of the drive way and out into the road. He spun his tires leaving black marks on the high way as he left.
The girl shook her head and went up the stairs and inside the house. Mayu was sitting on the couch, hugging her knees. "Is Daddy coming back?" she asked quietly.
"Yes." Kagome smiled and scooped Mayu up, taking her back to the bedroom where she had her own futon rolled out in a corner in the boy's room. She tucked the girl in and smiled at her, watching as the little girl yawned hugely.
The young mother leaned over and gave Mayu a kiss on the forehead. "I promise he'll be back later." Mayu smiled and hugged her mother around her neck. Kagome smiled and stood to walk out of the room to dispose of the drugs she had left on the counter.
Kagome flushed the last of the pills and looked up at her reflection in the mirror. Her messy appearance frightened her, especially the bags under her eyes. She sighed and bowed her head to wash her face.
The girl looked back up at her reflection and sighed, beginning to wash up for the night. She wrapped a towel around her and walked out of the bathroom, dropping the clothes in the hamper just inside her door.
She walked into Inu Yasha's room and flopped on his bed. She turned her head and inhaled deeply. His scent was all around her here. A soft smile tugged at her lips. Here, no one could harm her at all. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, trying to soak in his essence, but before long, she found herself falling asleep on his comfortable bed, wrapped in a towel.
Inu Yasha drove down the road listening to the radio. "Damn it, Hachi, I told you, I quit that years ago," he cursed his friend under his breath.
He drove for awhile and ended up in front of a familiar cemetery. He got out of the car with some flowers that he stopped and bought on the way over. The young man made his way down the rows of tomb stones and then spotted the one he was looking for, and knelt down by it.
"Hello, Kikyou."
He placed the flowers on the grave and bowed his head in prayer.
Inu Yasha reached out and touched the cold stone angel that marked his lost lover's grave. "I'm sorry, Kikyou, even after all these years," he muttered.
He touched the angel one last time and stood dusting off his jeans. "I love you, Kikyou, always will, no matter what," he said as he headed back to his car. Once to his car, Inu Yasha pulled out his cigarettes and lit one up looking at the sky. "Looks like rain."
Inu Yasha pulled into the drive way as the rain poured down. He walked to the house the rain coming down in sheets. The young man walked into the house, soaked to the bone. "Kagome, I'm home," he called out as he pulled his shoes and jacket off.
The house was silent all around him, and only the light above the stove was on. The door to Kagome's room stood wide open, but she wasn't in her bed. The house was dark, and only the creaking of the floor underneath him let him know he hadn't gone deaf.
Inu Yasha walked down the hallway to his room and flipped on the light. His eyes moved over to his bed and saw Kagome asleep. Inu Yasha shook his head and pulled the covers over her and turned out the light. He walked down the hall and into the living room flopping on the couch.
Kagome groaned as sudden warmth enveloped her. She opened her eyes and yawned. Just as she noticed some one had come and covered her up, a loud crash of lightening sounded and she yelped in terror loudly and bolted from the bed, tripping over something in the dark and doing a fantastic face plant.
Inu Yasha was dozing on the couch half asleep the TV on a zombie monster movie marathon.
The girl picked herself up and groaned, rubbing her face. She looked around the room and saw the downpour outside. She dug around in the bottom of Inu Yasha's closet for a bit and tugged out some rather feminine looking night pants and a t-shirt. She brushed her hair up in a ponytail and went out into the living room to look for Inu Yasha. She spotted him on the couch and smiled softly.
"Inu Yasha."
Inu Yasha opened his eyes and looked over her way. The color drained from his face as he looked at her. "Oh my God," He muttered. "I'm dreaming."
She looked at him confused. "Inu Yasha?" she asked softly.
He stood up and slowly walked over to her. Inu Yasha's hand reached out and touched her cheek. "You're real...you're warm. Oh God, you're here," he said with tears in his eyes.
The girl's brows knitted a bit more. "Inu Yasha?" she asked, placing her hand over his on her cheek. "Have you been drinking again? Where were you? You're soaking wet!"
"I haven't touched a drop, and I was...I was," he stuttered as the realization hit him hard in the face. "I was at the cemetery."
It was Kagome's turn to be hit with realization. "Oh, Inu Yasha, I'm sorry." Her brows knitted together. "I just grabbed these out of your closet without thinking."
He shrugged. "It's ok, no big thing." Inu Yasha sat back down on the couch and started watching the movie.
Kagome watched him for a few minutes more then sighed, and going about the house, working the laundry, trying to distract herself.
Inu Yasha stretched out on the couch and closed his eyes trying to catch a few z's to the sounds of screaming people being eaten by zombies.
The girl came back into the room, wearing different clothes and with some others in hand. She sighed, thinking Inu Yasha had fallen asleep, and went over to sit down beside him. She laid the clothes on the floor and pushed his shirt up over his stomach slowly, as she didn't want to disturb his slumber. His nose wrinkled as he fidgeted a bit, and then settled down shortly after.
She slipped the shirt she had for him on over his head and moved her way down to remove his soaking pants. He moved his arm from his side to above his head as he licked his lips in his sleep.
Smiling softly at his antics, Kagome slid his pants down and off of him dropping them in a wet heap. Shifting him a bit she took of his boxers too, but quickly slid some shorts onto him and smiled slightly down at him.
Inu Yasha rolled over onto his side and aimed his back to face her as he sighed in his sleep.
She shook her head and tossed the clothes back into the laundry room then went about the task of carefully moving Inu Yasha to the back bedroom without waking him. Bright idea, Kagome. Maybe it was you who had been drinking. She grunted as she shifted his weight slightly and drug him the first couple of steps.
Inu Yasha grunted and opened his eyes. "Hey, what the hell? What are you doing?" he asked.
Suddenly, she burst out laughing. "I'm dragging you away so I can rape you while you sleep." She smiled up at him, but didn't let go of her hold on him. "What do you think I'm doing?"
"Ghastly, trying to rape a sleeping man," he said as he walked back to his room.
Kagome scowled as she glared after him. Kicking his door frame she cursed at him. "You're welcome!" she snapped as she turned away.
"Thank you," he said as he locked his door and put a chair in front of it. Inu Yasha jumped on his bed and settled in for the night.
Kagome stiffened as she heard him barricade his door and went into her own room, slamming the door to hide from the storm on her own.
Inu Yasha chuckled and called out. "Someone's pissy!"
"And someone's an ungrateful asshole!" came the reply.
"Pshhhh, yeah right, I said thank you," he shot back through the wall.
"And then blockaded your door. Glad you trust me!"
He laughed. "You wake up horny, I need to protect myself."
That did it for Kagome. She burst out of her room, down the hall and picked the lock with the screwdriver lying on the bathroom counter she had used to fix the mirror. Shoving the door open, she pushed the chair out of the way and towered over his bed. "Believe me, if I'm horny enough, I can get in."
Inu Yasha laughed and threw a pillow at her. "Go to bed."
Kagome growled and burst into frustrated tears, beating him with the pillow with each word. "I can't I am afraid of storms!"
Inu Yasha covered his head with his arms. "Geez, don't kill me over it, would ya?"
She sniffled and plopped down on the floor. A loud clap of thunder sounded again and she whimpered, shrinking against the bed.
Inu Yasha pulled back the covers and motioned for her to get in. "Come on, I'm never gonna get any peace if you don't stay with me tonight."
A reverberating crash sounded again as she dove under thee covers, trembling and clinging to him, her head ducked against his chest.
He sighed. "Damn, you are really scared, aren't you?"
She whimpered again then looked up at him with teary eyes that resembled Mayu's when she gave him the puppy look.
"Ehhhhh, so that's where Mayu gets that look," Inu Yasha stated dryly.
The girl sniffled then yelped and clutched Inu Yasha tighter as another loud bang shook the house.
He wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "It's just a summer thunderstorm, nothing bad is going to happen," he whispered.
She relaxed a bit and stopped shaking as much. She loosened her hold and buried her face in the crook of his shoulder, relishing the warmth of his body.
Inu Yasha closed his eyes, trying to get some sleep. The rain pouring down on the roof in a rhythmic pattern soon helped him drift off.
Kagome closed her eyes finally and relaxed more as the storm let up, but the rain continued. It felt good to be held like this. She breathed in his scent deeply and drifted off for the night.
