Inu Yasha kissed her lips and pulled her into to a tight hug. "Kagome, please," he muttered as he rubbed her hair. "Someone is going to get hurt if we keep doing this."

She sighed and let her shoulders slump slightly as she leaned against him. "I know...I just love being held in your arms..." she mumbled staring at the foot of her bed.

He ran a hand through her hair. "I know you do," Inu Yasha said.

Sighing again, she looked down at the floor. "Do you want me to stop?" she asked quietly.

"Its not that I want you to stop," he said with a sigh. "It's just ...I think it is for the best right now."

Kagome nodded and pulled away. She lifted her eyes up to his, at first open and sad, then as she squared her shoulders, they hardened with resolve and she turned to unlock the door.

Inu Yasha lowered his head in guilt as he saw her eyes but didn't stop her when she moved away. She held the door open for him and stepped against the wall to let him pass as she kept her face turned away, staring at anything else but him; her radio, her window, her bed. The boy walked out the door and down the hall to where the kids were.

Kagome picked up Shippou and walked out to the car to strap him in.

Mayu chased after her and bounced up and down. "Can I sit in the front seat, can I, can I?"

Kagome looked down at the little girl, giving a sort of forced smile and nodded. Mayu paused at the look on her Mommy's face, but opened the door and slid into the seat, frowning.

Souta bounced into the back seat and strapped himself in. Inu Yasha tossed Kagome the keys. "You're driving," he said as he slipped in next to Shippou.

"Wonderful. Now I'm a chauffeur," she muttered as she walked around to the driver's side and slipped in, starting the car.

Inu Yasha scowled. "Fine, give me the damn keys back and I will drive."

Kagome started down the driveway and took off down the highway. "Inu Yasha just shut up and enjoy the ride." She flipped on the radio to drown him out, focusing on the road.

Inu Yasha growled and debated on opening the car door and jumping out. He watched the scenery fly by and it made his head hurt something awful. Mayu scowled up at her mother then turned to look in the backseat at Inu Yasha too. Kagome looked down at Mayu then back out the windshield. She sighed and reached a hand over and took one of Mayu's in it, squeezing it gently. Inu Yasha rubbed his temple, trying to get the headache to go away.

Kagome pulled up into the parking lot moments later and parked the car. Inu Yasha unbuckled Shippou from his car seat and opened the door to get out. Souta unbuckled himself and bounded out of the car. Mayu raced after Souta. Kagome took Shippou from Inu Yasha and grabbed Souta's hand, walking into the store with Mayu attached to Souta's other hand. Inu Yasha followed slowly behind, his head was pounding, and he didn't feel like even doing this shit now.

The obviously too cheerful girl looked through the stuff in the store, grabbing the things Muuona had mentioned and debated with the children on what candy to buy.

Souta looked back at Inu Yasha and the tugged on Kagome's hand. "I think Inu don't feel good."

Kagome looked back at Inu Yasha, then back to Souta as she sighed. "What do you think would make him feel better?" she asked quietly, trying to beat back tears that were stinging her eyes.

Souta shrugged. "I don't know, but he looks like he is hurting."

Kagome sighed again and brushed her hair out of her face. "You go ahead and pick out what you want; I'll buy it for you. I'll be back in a second. Keep the other two in line for me, ok?" she asked, tweaking his nose.

Souta nodded as him and the others kids ran off to look at the candy.

The girl stood and walked over to Inu Yasha. "Are you feeling okay?" she asked quietly.

Inu Yasha squared off his stance as he looked at her. "I'm fine," he said. "It's just a dumb headache."

Kagome stared at the floor. "Do you want me to pick up some Advil or aspirin?"

He shook his head and walked towards where the kids were. "I think I will live, Ms. Higurashi."

She stiffened as tears gathered in her eyes. She blinked a few times and looked down. That had stung worse than any blade ever had. She walked over to the kids and listened to their suggestions about what candy they wanted. "Just put it in the cart," she whispered hoarsely.

Souta and Shippou dumped the candy into the cart as Inu Yasha stood there with his arms folded across his chest and his nose stuck defiantly up in the air.

Mayu stared at her mother's face. She saw the tears ready to spill down the woman's cheeks, then put her candy bar and Bottle Pop in the cart and yanked Souta and Shippou into a conference.

"Well, Daddy and Mommy are sad at each other," she grumbled. "And now Mommy's crying."

Souta looked over at them. "I think Yasha is sick. He doesn't act like that," he whispered to her.

Shippou just stood there looking at Inu Yasha and Kagome.

Mayu scowled and folded her arms over her chest. "I think so too, but why won't he let Mommy take care of him? She always makes me feel better when she takes care of me."

Souta shrugged. "He's a butt head that's why."

The little girl sighed, frustrated. "He's a poop!" she exclaimed. Scowling she studied the two adults who were looking anywhere but at each other. "Maybe we should give Inu Yasha gang action?"

Souta shook his head. "When Yasha is sick, he doesn't like to be bothered."

She looked up at him. "Then what?"

"I don't know," the boy said.

Mayu's mind worked over time as she tried to scheme. "Maybe we should fake sick so they take us home. If we're there, then Daddy won't have a choice, because Mommy will already be taking care of us, and will be in doctor mode." A grin blossomed across her face. "Like we ate too much candy and our tummy was hurting really badly."

Souta and Shippou looked at her with a weird expression "I don't like telling things that aren't true," Souta said.

The girl scowled. "Well, do you got a better idea?"

"No," the boy said, folding his arms across his chest just like his uncle.

"I don't like them when they act like this, it makes all of us feel bad," she grumbled leaning against the shelves.

The boys nodded in unison. Inu Yasha walked down the aisle of the store, looking at the candy and trying to look like he wasn't in pain.

Mayu looked up at Souta and Shippou pleadingly. "Please, help me with this, just so they'll be happy and so Daddy will feel better?"

"Yasha looks sick," Souta said and walked over to his uncle and tugged on his arm. "Yasha are you sick?" he asked.

Inu Yasha shook his head no. "I just have headache."

Kagome looked back at the boys from ringing stuff up. She looked back at Inu Yasha then scowled. "Hey you guys, lets go."

The boys looked over to her and started walking towards the exit. Inu Yasha held Shippou's and Souta's hands as they walked out.

Mayu bounded out after her mother. "Mommy, Daddy's sick."

Kagome scowled. "I know."

Mayu looked up at her. "We need to take him home."

The woman looked straight ahead. "I am." Mayu smiled and grabbed one of her mom's hands.

Inu Yasha helped Souta into the car and the walked around and buckled Shippou in before sliding in next to him.

Kagome slid into the car, after putting the groceries away and handed the candy to the kids. She started the car and scowled as the skies opened up and it started to pour. She drove through the rain in silence, forgetting about the radio.

Inu Yasha sat in the back seat with his eyes closed trying to get the pain to subside.

Kagome pulled up to Muuona's house, raced the stuff in, then raced back out before anyone could move, then sped back off down the road, pulling into the driveway in front of Inu Yasha's house. She tucked the keys into her bra and reached back, unbuckling Shippou.

Inu Yasha stepped out of the car as his head began to hurt more. He stumbled for a minute as the pain became too much and he felt himself begin to get sick and started coughing. Inu Yasha covered his mouth trying to fight back the urge to wretch right where he stood.

Souta got out of the car and looked at his uncle in shock.

Kagome handed Mayu the house keys and told her to go inside and stay there, and to take the other two too. Mayu obeyed silently and quickly yanking the boys into the house. Kagome walked over to Inu Yasha and wrapped his arm around her neck and straightened him pulling him into the house, and situated him in the bathroom. "Damn stubborn fool," she cursed moving things around so he could sit.

Inu Yasha covered his mouth as he sat down in the floor of the bathroom with all the color drained from his face.

Kagome bustled about cleaning up the place so he could maneuver a bit better. She turned to Mayu who was standing in the doorway with her eyes wide.

"Take Souta and Shippou and go watch cartoons, I'll come get you in a bit when he's feeling better."

Mayu nodded and backed away, casting a last glance at Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha leaned against the wall as he sat near to toilet. "I feel like shit," he said as he rubbed his temples.

Kagome stood against the door, looking down at him. Her forehead was creased with deep worry lines and something was flickering in her eyes. "You look like it to," she said in an emotionless voice.

The boy turned even paler, if that was possible, and leaned over the toilet and began throwing up.

The girl darted over him and grabbed his hair up, keeping it off of his neck. She situated herself on the counter looking down at him while he threw up. Soft silver eyes roamed over as she cringed inwardly at his retching.

Inu Yasha sat back and wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. "Damn, I never had a headache so fucking bad in my life," he muttered as he reached over and flushed the toilet.

Kagome stared down at him. "Are you ok?" she asked quietly.

He nodded. "Yeah, I need a cigarette though," he said with a small smile.

Kagome tugged the ponytail out of her hair and wrapped it around Inu Yasha's hair to hold it up in a messy bun. She walked out of the bathroom, coming back soon with a cigarette and a lighter.

Inu Yasha wrinkled his nose at his hair being in a bun as he grabbed the cigarette and lighter from Kagome. "What, do I look like a girl?" he asked as he popped the cigarette in his mouth and lit it.

She sighed and shook her head. "It was so if you started puking while I was gone. That way it wont get covered in vomit."

Inu Yasha looked up at her. "I mean now I understand why you fixed my hair like this," he said as he tugged at the bun.

She watched him for a few minutes then turned her head. "Do you need anything like medicine or something?"

Inu Yasha walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to the kitchen. He opened the fridge and looked inside, finding hardly anything. "Oh man, there's no soda or anything in this fridge," he grumbled.

Kagome looked up from where she stood on the phone. "Inu Yasha, go to bed, I'll make you something."

He closed the fridge door. "Im not tired." He looked over his shoulder at her. "Who are you talking to?"

She arched a brow. "I'm talking to your maker and convincing him to leave your ass on this earth forever if you don't get to bed and lay down to rest."

Inu Yasha growled. "Who are you talking to?" he asked again.

She glared at him. "I have to go, I'm sorry but he's being an asshole. Just see if you can come before Friday? He looked really sick. Thanks, Kouga." She hung up the phone and walked over to Inu Yasha and dragged him down the hall.

The enraged man stopped and looked at Kagome. "You called Kouga! What the fuck for?!"

She just tugged at his arm guiding him into his room.

He scowled as he walked into his room and sat down on the bed. "Now care to explain why the hell you called Kouga?"

"Because you're sick. He said he'd try to be over tomorrow or the next day because they are under pressure at work. He gave me orders to keep you bed ridden." She pulled at his shirt, tugging it off.

Inu Yasha frowned. "I'm not a child I can take care of myself, ok?"

She stood up and looked at him, her eyes dark. "Then do it.

He lay back on the bed and closed his eyes. "I'm fine as is," he said. "Just fix the kids something to eat, I will be out later."

"Yes sir." Her bitter voice came as she turned and walked through the mess.

Inu Yasha sighed and threw his arm over his eyes. "Damn, I feel like shit," he mumbled as he tried to relax.

A little while later a small little body crawled up onto the bed to curl against him. He opened his tired eyes as he felt something crawl onto the bed with him. "What? Who is it?"

A little image of Kagome blinked up at him sadly as the girl nestled herself against him. Inu Yasha closed his eyes again. "Hi, Mayu."

"Are you ok, Daddy?"

Inu Yasha nodded. "I'm fine just had a headache," he said.

She smiled and snuggled against him, falling asleep as well.

Kagome walked back to the bedroom but froze at what she saw. Inu Yasha and Mayu were snuggled against each other and were sleeping peacefully. Tears shimmered in her eyes and she brought a hand up to her mouth to stifle a sob. Why couldn't he have been Mayu's father, instead of that asshole Hojo?

Inu Yasha's nose wrinkled as Mayu's hair tickled it. His hand reached up and scratched his nose in his sleep. Kagome turned around and walked back down the hall trying to get herself under control. Her thoughts were everywhere and she had to get the boys fed.

Mayu's eyes opened and she looked at where her mother had been standing. The little girl sighed and snuggled against Inu Yasha even more.

"Daddy..." she whispered quietly. She sighed and let her head droop to look off to the side. "I think Mommy's sad...really sad..." she mumbled.

Inu Yasha cracked an eye open and muttered. "Shit, what did I do now?"

Mayu shrugged and cuddled against him. "I dunno... maybe she's said cause you are sick and are being a butt brain and wont let her take care of you."

He snorted. "I hired your mom to take care of the boys, not me."

Mayu looked up at him and gave a strange little smile.

Kagome stalled at the door where she stood, overhearing Inu Yasha. 'That's right...I'm nothing but your babysitter, Inu Yasha.' She pushed the pain down and rapped her knuckles on the door. "Mayu, honey," she said hoarsely. "You're food's ready."

Inu Yasha leaned over and gave Mayu a kiss on the forehead. "Go and eat, Mayu."

Mayu stared at her mother for a few seconds. She nodded slowly and crawled out of the bed and raced past her. Kagome turned then paused, turning her head only slightly. "There's food if you feel like you can eat something."

Inu Yasha yawned. "I will be out in a minute," he said as he sat up and stretched.

Kagome nodded and walked out of the room and into the kitchen with the rest of the household. Souta sat at the table with Shippou. The youngest boy looked over at Kagome and smiled. "Juice pwease," he said as he shook his sippy cup at her. The girl gave her a small smile and poured juice into the cup and then hugged him tight, ruffling his hair.

"Cutie, you're going to turn into a juice berry."

Shippou giggled and started drinking his juice.

Inu Yasha dragged down the hall looking like a monster from a horror movie. "What's fixed to eat?" he asked.

Kagome straightened and dished the noodles onto a plate for Inu Yasha. "Hamburger Helper."

Inu Yasha blinked and rubbed his eyes. "Ok…" he looked at Kagome. "Now the million dollar question. What's wrong with you?"

The girl's grip tightened on the spoon as she paused for a moment. She shook it off soon though and smiled widely at Inu Yasha. "I'm fine!" She forced a semi decent laugh and handed the plate to Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha took the plate and looked at her curiously before making his way to the table. Mayu sat scowling darkly and only slightly speedily ate her dinner. Kagome poured Inu Yasha some juice and then set it front of him.

"Thanks," Inu Yasha said as he looked up at Kagome. She sat down, her cheerful smile about to split her face in two. She ate in silence while Mayu glared across the table at her then back down at her food.

Souta looked around the table. "What's wrong with everybody?" he asked. Inu Yasha just shrugged as he took a drink of juice.

Kagome softened her smile to more of a more genuine quality at Souta. "Nothing's wrong honey, why do you ask?"

"Well you and Yasha aren't fighting and everyone's quiet," he said.

Kagome forced a laugh but it caught in her throat and sounded more like a sob. She swallowed and looked down at her plate. "Everyone's just too busy eating I guess," she said, her hair hiding her eyes.

Shippou poked at the food on his plate as he sat there quietly. Then a smile broke out on his face as he picked up a noodle and threw it at Inu Yasha. The older mans eyes went wide as he felt the noodle hit his face.

Inu Yasha scowled as he pulled the noodle off his nose. Kagome blinked, and then giggled hiding her face behind her hand. Mayu blinked a few times then grinned wickedly. She tossed a noodle at Souta, getting him right between the eyes. Souta grabbed a handful and threw it hitting Kagome right square in the face.

Inu Yasha burst out into laughter at the sight of her sauce covered face. The girl blew out hard, brushing the noodles off of her face. She glared at Inu Yasha and scooped up some noodles.

"Oh, you're dead, boy." She pulled her hand back and they hit him right on his mug.

Inu Yasha took his hand and wiped the noodles from his face. The sauce streaked his face and made it appear that he had war paint on. "Oh yeah, is that so?" he asked as he got up with his plate in his hand. Inu Yasha walked over to Kagome and dumped the plate's contents onto her head. "Oh my, it just slipped I swear!" he said with a smug grin.

Mayu shrieked in delight and started a war with Souta and Shippou.

Kagome looked up at Inu Yasha with the creamy white sauce decorating her face. Leaning her head back against an enticing body part while the kids were busy she closed her eyes, letting out a soft moan and licking the white sauce off her lips with her wet pink tongue.

Inu Yasha blushed and backed away from her and then looked at the messy kids. "Ok, time for a bath," he said as he hit his hands together. "We have to get the party supplies to my mom's today."

Kagome stared at him for a few minutes. "I already did that, Inu Yasha."

He blinked. "What? When did you do that?" he asked.

She looked at him oddly. "When I was racing you home. I stopped to drop off the supplies."

Inu Yasha's brow furrowed in confusion. "I don't remember you stopping there."

Mayu piped up. "That's cause you were too busy hurting!"

He sighed. "Well did anything else happen while I was out of it?"

Kagome made a big show of waving her hands at the kids.

Mayu giggled, getting it and looked up at Inu Yasha seriously. "You started saying Mommy's name and grabbing her boobs."

Inu Yasha turned bright red. "I did not!"

Kagome was as red as Inu Yasha but didn't say anything as she coughed and turned around. Mayu nodded very solemnly up at Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha closed his eyes and growled at himself. "Kags, I hope you had enough sense to smack the hell out of me," he said as he leaned against the wall.

Mayu decided to pipe up again. "Nope she was saying your name really loudly too and grabbing your penis." She nudged the boys to get them nodding. "I think you were going to have sex."

Kagome flushed darkly. "Mayu!" she cried.

Inu Yasha's eyes shot open. "We were going to do what?"

Mayu nodded. "Have sex." Kagome's blush now had her stuttering and choking.

Inu Yasha turned beet red as he pushed himself off from the wall. He grabbed his head as he walked towards the front door. "Why don't I remember any of this?" he asked himself as he walked out onto the porch.

"Because it didn't happen!" Kagome stormed as she stomped her foot.

Inu Yasha sat down on the front step and looked out at the horizon.

Kagome gave Mayu a look, which made the girl hide behind Souta and Shippou.

"Go...clean your room," she muttered to the three of them and walked out to stand quietly behind Inu Yasha.

"It didn't really happen, Inu Yasha...they were just teasing.

Inu Yasha sat there just staring out at the sky. "Some times when I get headaches like that, I do things I wouldn't normally do," he said quietly.

Kagome eased herself onto the porch beside him and looked up. "Inu Yasha...I promise you didn't."

He nodded. "Alright, I will take your word on it."

She stared down at her skirt that she was twisting in her hands. "Inu Yasha... I... want to talk to you about Mayu."

Inu Yasha looked over at Kagome. "What about her?"

She stared out at the ground. "She loves you... a lot."

He nodded. "I know that, Kags."

A tear leaked down her face as she shut her eyes tightly. Her voice shook as she spoke. "I just wanted to know if you wanted her to come and visit you."

"Visit? What do you mean visit?" he asked.

She stared down at her hands again. "You're right about this continuing and someone getting hurt. If I keep up the way I'm going people are going to get crushed..."

Inu Yasha scowled. "So you're going to take her away from what she considers her family."

Kagome let go of the edge of the fabric. "I'm not doing what you hired me to do, Inu Yasha. How long will it be before you fire me anyway?"

"Keep acting like this and I will do it now!" he said as he stood up. "After all the shit I went through to go and get her back, you want to take her away from me! Have you lost your fucking mind?!" Inu Yasha shouted.

"Yes I suppose I have!" She yelled, standing as well. "What am I supposed to do Inu Yasha? Please if you have any suggestions, let me know! All I know is that I can't stay in the same house with you anymore! You said it yourself that you didn't hire me for anything but to take care of the boys! Well look how well of a job I've done of that!"

A look of pure hatred crossed his face. "Fine, have it your way, Ms. Higurashi." He turned and yanked the door of the house open. "You're fired; gather your things and leave my property immediately," Inu Yasha said as he stormed into the house slamming the door in behind him.

Kagome paled as she watched him storm into the house. She looked down and walked into the house, ignoring the look that came from her wide eyed daughter's face. As her mother went to go pack, Mayu ran to Inu Yasha. "Daddy, what's wrong?"

"Mayu..." he said as his voice began to crack from holding back tears. "Its nothing, go and play with the boys," he said as he walked down the hall.

She shook her head and stomped her foot. "No! Why are you making Mommy go?!"

Inu Yasha stopped but kept his back to her. "She wants to go, Mayu, she cant stand to be around me."

Mayu picked up a pillow and threw it down. "That's not true! She loves you! You're just too dumb to see it! I may be a kid, but I know my mommy! She looks at you like she never looked at my dad!"

Inu Yasha growled. "Stop it; let her go if that's what she wants to do. I can't make her stay!"

Something crumbled in the little girl's eyes. She looked down at the floor and whispered. "It because I'm too much trouble, isn't it? It's because you and Mommy had to kill someone for me."

The man hung his head out of guilt for snapping at the little girl. "No it's not that Mayu, it's just me. I have been trouble for everyone, it's got nothing to do with you."

The little girl looked up at him, refusing to listen. "You don't love me. You never did." Betrayal flashed through her young eyes. "You are just like him!" she screamed and turned around and ran out of the house.

Inu Yasha spun around on his heels. "Mayu that's not true!" he yelled as he rushed towards the door.

The little girl was already out of his sight in the dying light. She must have ducked somewhere into the woods, because she was nowhere in the clearing around his house. Kagome came out of the room with a couple bags and refused to look at Inu Yasha.

"Kagome, Mayu ran off and I don't see her!" he said, frantic.

All the color drained from the girl's face. "What?!" She dropped the bags and dialed Sango's number telling her to get here as soon as possible on her cell phone as she darted into the woods.

Inu Yasha pulled on his sneakers and told the boys to stay inside and then rushed out after Kagome. "Kagome, wait, you don't know these woods like I do!" he yelled.

The girl was already pushing through the branches and underbrush calling out desperately for her daughter. "Mayu!" he screamed. "Mayu, please come back!"

The sky over head boomed and a clap of thunder sounded just before it opened up to rain again.

Inu Yasha cursed himself as he rushed over to the dog kennels and grabbed a leash. He snapped it onto his black labs collar. "Alright, Flash lets go." The dog barked as he ran beside his owner and into the woods.

"Mayu!" Inu Yasha yelled as he pushed through the forests under growth.
