Sango frowned and stood up, intercepting Miroku and tugged him away from the others. She eyed his cheek. "So who'd ya grope? Kagome or Inu-san?"

Miroku frowned. "I didn't do anything." His glare hardened as he looked off towards the kids and Kouga. "Inu Yasha is a self righteous son of a bitch who thinks he can have everything."

The woman's eyes widened realizing what he must have walked in on and looked over to Kouga. She loosened her grip a bit. "Well, Inu Yasha is a big boy and can decide how he wants to fuck up his life.

"It's not fair, you know." Miroku sighed. "He is going to hurt someone and cause a whole lot of problems."

Sango reached up and brushed his hair back. "I'm pretty sure he knows that." Reaching down, she linked her fingers through his. "But in the end Inu Yasha has to be the one to make his own decisions or he'll never be happy."

"Oh well, his ass, not mine," Miroku said as he watched the kids play. "I'm not picking up the pieces this time."

A soft smile tugged at the woman's lips before she placed a kiss on his. "Miroku, no one asked you to. The best you can do is support your friend. Whether that be Kouga, Inu Yasha, or both. No one's asking you to choose sides either. It's their drama to play out." She eyed him and linked her arms around his neck. "Would you stop being his friend even if he chose Kagome?"

"I don't know," he said. "I honestly don't know; this will kill Kouga, you know."

Just then Inu Yasha walked outside with Kagome in behind him. Miroku flashed a glare at his best friend as he tightened his grip on Sango's hand. "But for right now, I feel like killing Inu Yasha," he muttered.

Sango sighed and let go of Miroku's hand. "Well, then that's how you feel, and nothing I say is going to change that." The girl turned and walked back to the campfire and sat down beside a very silent Kagome.

"Inu Yasha, its time to go and get the surprises for the kids," Raven called out.

"Ok I will get Kouga to help me go and get them." Inu Yasha and Koug walked down towards the barn to go and get the surprises.

Sango looked at Kagome and reached down and linked her fingers through hers. Kagome looked up at her and gave a faint smile. "Now do you know why I needed to leave?" she asked quietly.

Inu Yasha and Kouga walked back with their packages in tow. "Ok now, kids, you need to cover your eyes, and no peeking," Inu Yasha yelled out.

Shippou and Souta closed their eyes tight and then puts their hands over their eyes.

"Ready!" Shippou yelled.

"Yeah bring it out!" Souta chimed in.

Mayu covered her eyes tightly and hid behind the boys waiting for the surprise.

Kagome watched the kids, her heart falling further and further into a dark abyss. Sango smiled over at the kids and pulled her friend close; cradling her against her side as she felt a damp spot appear on her should from Kagome's tears hidden by the darkness.

Inu Yasha and Kouga came walking up with three weanling foals in behind them

"Now hold out one hand, but keep your eyes closed," Kouga said and the boys did as they were told. He placed a lead rope in each of their hands.

Inu Yasha walked to Mayu and stood in front of her. "You too, Mayu, hold out your hand," he said with a smile.

Mayu held out her hand and took the rope. Her brows flipped up and she struggled not to open her eyes.

"Ok, now, open your eyes," Kouga said.

Shippou opened his eyes to see a small red colt with a white star on its forehead looking at him and swishing its tail. He squealed and petted its nose.

Souta opened his eyes and saw a black colt similar to his uncle's standing there looking back at him. His eyes widened. "He looks like your horse, Yasha!" The colt shook his head and neighed.

Inu Yashasmiled "That's because Cole is his sire."

The little filly that Mayu held reached her head over and sniffed the girl's shirt. The little paint snorted hot air onto the girls face as she lifted her head to get a good look at her new owner.

Mayu giggled and wrapped her arms tightly around the horse's neck. "Yay!" she squealed excitedly. Kagome's lips twisted up into a smile and she leaned her head on Sango's shoulder. "Do you think it's all going to end now, Sango?" The older woman sighed and raked her fingers through the girl's hair. "That would be up to whoever gives a damn up in the heavens, dear."

Inu Yasha smiled until he laid on eyes on Kagome and the smile fell from his face like a star from the heavens and regret took its place. Kouga stood with the boys and petted the foals and smiling.

Kagome's eyes lifted up to meet Inu Yasha's and she smiled softly, trying to seem happy, even though it didn't completely reach her eyes. Sango watched the exchange and sighed inwardly.

Miroku frowned and stayed away from the group trying hard to keep his mouth shut.

"Well kids, how about we go and put the foals back into the barn; its getting kinda late, and we need to eat," Raven said.

Mayu giggled and hopped up to go race off after Raven and the boys. Sango's eyes trailed after the girl as she watched quietly.

Kagome's soft voice reached her ears just barely, but the words couldn't be more shocking if she had screamed. "Would you become her legal guardian?"

Sango's head whipped around as she stared at Kagome. "What?!"

Inu Yasha looked at Kagome. "What's wrong?"

Sango shot a look at Inu Yasha and shook her head. Lowering her voice she turned back to Kagome. "What in Sam Hill are you talking about?" Kagome stared down at her lap and spoke in little over a whisper. "I don't want to take her away from Inu Yasha and the boys when I have to leave."

Kouga looked at Inu Yasha concerned which caused the boy to lower his head in shame. "Kouga, we need to talk now; I can't wait any longer."

The older man blinked. "Alright, Inu Yasha, whatever you say."

Kagome's shoulders tensed at Inu Yasha's words and she shrunk back against Sango, in dire anticipation.

Kouga and Inu Yasha moved away from the group and Miroku's eyes followed them.

"You're making a mistake, Inu Yasha, think twice man. Once it's said, you cant take it back!" he yelled out at the boy.

Kouga looked confused. "What the hell is he talking about?"

Inu Yasha sighed. "You're about to find out."

Kagome stood up, not wanting to stick around for the grand finale and made her way to her bedroom to start gathering her things.

Miroku looked over to Sango. "You get her, or I will; she and Inu started this, and she will be here to finish it."

Sango stood up to shoot him a death glare. "Unless I'm mistaken, Miroku, that's exactly what she's planning on. Finishing it, anyway." Sango's glance swept over Miroku coldly and stormed after her friend.

"She is not leaving Inu a broken, emotional wreck, damn it!" he yelled at Sango.

Sango whirled around and walked back to Miroku, planting her fist square in his face. Her glare was deadly as her aura around her crackled with fury. "Miroku," she said coldly. "You look after your friend; I'll do the same for mine. Take care not to speak out against her, as I've never done so against Inu Yasha."

Something inside of the girl twisted as she spoke to Miroku, tightening her throat, but she ignored it. Kagome needed her right now, and she wouldn't stand for anyone acting like that to someone she had so looked after for so long.

Miroku rubbed his face "She leaves him broken, and I wont allow her to come near him ever again," he shot back. "I almost lost my friend before; I be damned if I will this time."

Sango, glaring down at him, felt tears gather in her eyes. "He's not the only person on the fucking planet who's had a rough life, Miroku! You think Kagome grew up in pink frilly dresses?! God damn it, I'm not saying they were in the right sneaking around like that, but Christ, if it's something that makes them happy why in god's name are you so hell bound on destroying that? You yourself are the one who told me that Inu Yasha smiled more now! Well let me tell you something! When I first saw Kagome smile that night after Inu Yasha got out of the hospital, I almost died of shock!" Her glare turned murderous. "That was the first time I ever saw her truly laugh!" The girl's head whipped around and she turned her back to him. "But if you feel like you have to ban my friend from here...then I'm going with her. I won't leave her on her own." With that, Sango started towards the house.

Miroku started to reach out to her but pulled his hand back. "He is like brother to me; but if you have to go, then you do what you have to do."

The girl paused for a moment. "...I love you, Miroku..." she said quietly, but loud enough for him to hear, before she disappeared into the house.

Miroku fought back tears "I love you to Sango."He whispered.

Inu Yasha and Kouga walked to a private part of the yard and sat down .Inu hung his head. "Kouga, I don't know how to say this, but I love you, and I know you know that."

Kouga became frightened. "Inu, good god, what's wrong?"

The boy averted his eyes from him. "I kissed Kagome."

With those words Kouga's world shattered in a heart beat.

Kouga sat there, trying to gather his thoughts. "This isn't funny, Inu."

The boy's heart wrenched at his lover's words. "I'm not kidding, I did it and I'm sorry; actually it's happened more than once."

Kouga sneered "You're lying!"

Inu Yasha felt the tears run down his face. "Kouga, I'm sorry; that's all I can say, I can't take it back, I would if I could, but I cant."

Kouga pulled back his hand and smacked Inu Yasha across the face. "I was a fucking idiot, thinking you would stay true to me!"

The younger boy fell to the ground and looked up at Kouga. "I'm sorry! I swear!" he yelled.

Kagome's eyes shot up from the smack running through the night, and cringed at the screaming. Out her window, she saw Inu Yasha on the ground, and without another thought, she bolted and raced past Sango, to Inu Yasha on the ground. She touched his cheek gently and snapped her gaze up to face Kouga.

"Stop it!" she yelled.

She stood up, staring at him, her pleading eyes glaring holes into him. "If you are going to hit someone, hit me for slutting around the house! It's my fault for constantly throwing myself at him and acting like I did. How can you hit someone you love like that?!"

Tears spilled from Kouga's eyes. "I didn't ...I didn't mean to. Oh god, what did I do?" The man fell to his knees as he sobbed.

Inu Yasha sat up. "It was my fault too, not just Kagome's. I shouldn't have let it go so far."

Inu Yasha reached over and touched Kouga's shoulder only to feel him flinch away. "Kouga, stop, I don't blame you. I swear, it's my fault."

Kouga sobbed heavily at the sound of Inu Yasha's voice.

The boy felt his heart break right there in his chest and just hung his head.

Kagome's head dropped in shame and she turned. She lifted her head to stare at the night sky and sighed, running a hand through her hair. Tonight was the blue moon. Night of excessive love and tenderness. What a joke. Her heart twisted bitterly as she stared down at the spider bite on her wrist that was slowly larger than it was earlier. Maybe...

"I've gotta make a few phone calls," Kagome said before she disappeared back into the house. Sango lay her head on Miroku's chest, not even noticing when Kagome walked by. The girl turned around before she went in the door and smiled, happy for her friend. She gave an apologetic look to Miroku, then went in through the door.

Sango stumbled out of the house, but tripped over the steps and fell on her face in the dirt. She winced and pulled herself up carefully, grimacing as she put pressure on her wrist. Her gaze lifted to see Miroku, but she quickly averted her eyes, spotting the other three in the distance.

Miroku walked over to Sango and helped her up. "Sango, don't leave me. I love you," he whispered into her ear. "If you leave, my heart will break."

Sango lifted her eyes to look into Miroku's and she paused for a moment, feeling emotions overwhelming her. In that instant when their eyes met, all thoughts of Kagome and Inu Yasha, and everything else fled from her mind. She flung her arms around his neck and buried her face against it.

"I love you too, Miroku," she mumbled miserably.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up and spun her around. "Then stay with me, don't leave my side."

Sango pulled back and smiled slightly wiping barely shed tears from her face and she nodded. "Alright," she said quietly. "Ok."

Miroku smiled "Thank you." He leaned forward and kissed her lips.

Mayu yawned and stretched, sitting up the next morning and hopped out of bed bouncing down the hall to the kitchen. She blinked, surprised at her mother not being up and cooking breakfast already. She bounced down the hall to Raven's room and knocked. She peeked in the door.

"Grandpa? Is Mommy outside feeding the animals again?"

Raven looked at the girl. "I thought she was with you, Little Doe. I haven't seen her this morning," he said in surprise.

The little girl scowled and shook her head. "Maybe she's still sleeping." She raced down the hall to her mom's room. The room was bare save for an envelope lying on the bed stand. Mayu blinked and picked it up and frowned. "Grandpa?" she called.

Raven walked down to the hall to the room. "What is it, Mayu?" he asked, eyeing the room.

The little girl handed the letter to him, and blinked. "What's it say?"

Raven opened the envelope and read a little bit before looking back at the girl. "Oh, Little Doe ..." he said as he looked back at the letter.

Raven shook his head. "It's nothing to worry over," he said quietly. "Go and get some breakfast, ok?"

Mayu frowned. "Did Mommy take her stuff back to Daddy's? Why didn't she take mine too?"

Raven shook his head and knelt down to the girl. "Your mom isn't here anymore, honey, she left."

The little girl stared at him, not understanding. "She'll be back though, right?"

He shook his head. "She has left you here to stay with Sango and Inu Yasha." Raven sighed. "Honey, I'm so sorry." He hugged her up into his arms.

Mayu went stiff in his arms, realization washing over her. She pulled back from him, carefully untangling herself from his embrace. "Oh. I guess I better go start my chores then," she said quietly, before turning away and bolting down the hall with thunderous footsteps to wake the dead.

Raven rushed after her. "Little Doe come back here!"

Sango yawned and came out of her and Miroku's room, just as Mayu slammed the door. "What's going on?"

Raven looked at the woman. "Kagome left Mayu to you and Inu Yasha." He handed her the letter. "She's gone."

Sango's eyes flew open. "What?!" she yelled. Her eyes skimmed over the letter and looked at the enclosed documents. Her face was paling in a gradual fashion but went pallid paste on the last form. "Oh my god..." she whispered. "God no..."

"Where in the hell would that girl run off to?" Raven asked. "We have to get her back."

Sango looked over her shoulder. "Don't tell Miroku. Or Kouga." She grabbed a jacket and tugged it on. "God damn those three and their bloody love triangle!"

Raven a raised a brow. "Where are you going now? We are losing people left and right; is this a horror movie or something?"

"One, I'm getting Inu Yasha's ass out of bed, and two, I'm going to go find Kagome."

He nodded. "Alright, you do what you need to; I will watch the kids."

The woman kissed the old man's cheek. "Thank you so much!" She raced down the hall and into Inu Yasha's room, yanking him out by the collar and down the hall in a flash.

Inu Yasha blinked. "What the fuck?! Whoa, hold up a second!" he yelled.

"Kagome ran off, and she left her last will and testament."

His eyes went wide. "What is she insane?!" He got to his feet and grabbed his shoes and ran for the door. "That damn idiot!"

Sango ran out hopped in the car with him and started the car, zipping down the driveway like a bat outta hell. She searched the letter for a moment then tossed it to him. "Insane? No. In love and wants to make it easier for everyone she cares about in the only way she knows how? Yes."

Inu Yasha growled as he read the letter. "If I would have died when I tried to kill myself. We wouldn't be going through this right now!" he yelled and threw the letter in the floor board of the car.

Sango slammed on the brakes and turned around to glare at him. "If you say that one more time, I'll rip your balls off and sell them on the black market, you hear me?"

Inu Yasha snorted and looked out the window, not bothering to respond.

Sango growled and drove off again.

A few hours later she pulled in downtown. "You check the air port, train station and all the hotels near here, call me if you find anything, otherwise meet me back here in an hour."

Inu Yasha nodded and bounded out of the car. "I will drag her back, kicking and screaming if I have to; you have my word on that."

The girl nodded and dashed off to go check her own stops.

Kagome sat back against the cool wall of the hotel. Not her ideal place but hey, who cares when they're dead? The girl looked down at the bite right next to the original one on her wrist. It had taken a while but finally last night she had found another spider, and aggravated the piss out of it till it bit her. If that didn't take balls of platinum, she didn't know what did. The girl sighed itched her wrist irritably. The poison had had a good thirteen hours to set in by now and would be near impossible to reverse the effects. The seizures were already starting as she sat shaking uncontrollably, staring up at the sky.

Inu Yasha nosed around and asked strangers if they had seen a strange girl around but everyone said no. "Fuck, I'm not getting anywhere!" he yelled in frustration.

An old woman stopped him on the street. "Wait a moment; does this girl you're speaking of have long black hair and a strange bite on her arm?"

He turned around and looked at the woman "Yes have you seen her?!"

She nodded. "She checked into my motel about midnight last night. Poor thing was shaking up a storm and had a terrible rash. It almost seemed as if her flesh was peeling. And I'll be darned if she didn't have a fever from hell."

The boy's face became worried. "Oh god, she's allergic to spiders, she must have gotten bitten."

The woman's eyes shot open. "Well, it's been a good while since then, I do hope she's alright. She's in room 18B at the Huntsmoore Inn."

Inu Yasha paled and began running to the hotel. "Thanks a lot, lady!" he yelled over his shoulder.

The old woman nodded and waved after him.

Kagome's vision swam in and out of focus. Sweat was pouring off of her in rivers but she was shaking horribly, her limbs spasming every now and then. She groaned in pain and tilted her head to the side, a breeze blowing hair over her face.

Inu Yasha lucked out and ran into Sango along the way and grabbed her arm. "She's been bitten again! Hurry, come on!" he said as he dragged her along.

Sango cursed and pushed Inu Yasha into the hotel, following him to the room. Kagome sat on the floor, slumped over and twitching withthe effect of the poison spreading throughout her body.

"Kagome !"Inu yelled and rushed over to her.

The girl gasped in pain and winced. "Oh my god," Sango said as she saw the spider bite on Kagome's arm.

Inu Yasha eyed the bite as he began to cry. "If you die, I will hate you and follow you into hell to torment you."

Kagome opened her eyes in the little conscious she had left. "I told you to stay away..." she whispered hoarsely. "Why'd you come after me?"

He looked at her with red rimmed eyes. "You're an idiot if you have to ask that," he whispered and brushed the hair back from her eyes.

Another seizure wracked the girl's body as Sango worked frantically with the antiserum. "Inu Yasha... Miroku's right... Kouga saved you... I have no right to take that away."

Tears flooded his eyes. "Kouga saved me, and now I will return the favor and save you."

Kagome frowned slightly. "How are you...returning the favor?"

"I must be on this earth for something. I couldn't save Kikyou, and Kouga saved me, so now I can save you," Inu Yasha said as his voice cracked from tears.

The girl closed her eyes, wincing at the needle stabbing in her arm. "Inu Yasha...I want you to be happy..."

"Do you honestly think you being dead is going to help me?" he muttered as he wiped his eyes. "Are you that big of an idiot?"

"I made Kouga hit you..." she said sadly, staring up at him.

"So, it takes more then that to hurt me," Inu Yasha said. "Kagome, there's a lot you don't know about me, and that little hit didn't hurt me in the slightest."

The girl stared up at him and she closed her eyes, her head drooping against his chest. Sango looked up. "The most we can do now is hope we got here in time and hope the fever breaks..."

Inu Yasha nodded and watched Kagome's face "If she dies I will too you know."

Sango stared at him. "You're going to have to make some sort of decision if she doesn't."

"I have already made my decision," he said quietly.

"I don't suppose you're going to tell me, are you?"

Inu Yasha shook his head no. "I will tell everyone later."

Sango nodded. "Well, best get her back," she sighed as she stood up.

Inu Yasha picked Kagome's limp form up into his arms and carried her out the hotel room door.

The girl opened an eye to look up at him. "Just you wait, I'll get out of this bed and kick your ass for disobeying orders," she muttered.

Inu Yasha settled the girl down onto her bed and covered her up. "Kagome, get better for Mayu's sake, please."

The girl opened an eye to look up at him. "Just you wait, I'll get out of this bed and kick your ass for disobeying orders," she muttered.

Inu Yasha snorted. "You couldn't kick my ass if you wanted to."

Kagome smiled slightly. "Get out of my sight, puppy before I throw zombie skin at you."

He nodded. "Get some rest, ok?" Inu Yasha walked out of her room and into the living room and collapsed on the couch.

Sango sat in the chair across from him. "So when's the big announcement?" she asked quietly.

He sighed. "When Kagome is well."

The girl paused then nodded. "Good decision."

Inu Yasha nodded. "I thought so too."
