Inu Yasha dragged the bags out of the car from shopping as soon as Kagome parked the car in the drive way. "Do you think we got enough?" he asked.

Kagome laughed and leaned against the car, then pushed off, dancing in the yard spinning around. "Yea. I think we got plenty," she giggled into the cold night air, breathing deeply. She looked up at the stars. "Hey, Inu Yasha?"

Inu Yasha glanced over at her as he adjusted the heavy weight of the bags on his arms. "What?"

Kagome smiled as she walked back over to the car and scooped the bags out of the back. "Welcome back."

He laughed. "Thanks its kinda good to be home again," Inu Yasha said as he walked towards the house. "But I'm not wrapping this stuff, if that's your plan," a smirk plastered across his face as he stepped up on to the front steps.

The girl glared at him, restraining a very nasty comment. She unlocked the door, and pushed it open and backed into the living room, tugging the bags after her.

Inu Yasha laughed at the annoyed look on her face. "I will help you some but I'm not good at wrapping things like that," he said as he walked in and slipped off his boots.

Kagome smiled and walked over to the phone, dialing Kouga's cell phone number. "I gotta check up on him and the kids so hush."

Inu Yasha sat down on the couch and did as he was told but still rummaged through the bags anyway.

The girl listened to the phone ring as she picked through the presents and sorted out which ones to hide from Inu Yasha and which ones to leave out.

After a few rings, Kouga picked up. "Hello?"

Kagome smiled slightly. "Hey, Kouga. How goes it?"

He laughed. "It's good. How did work go?" he asked.

The girl smirked. "I was mysteriously convinced to quit stripping," she said as she looked up at Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha rolled his eyes .Kouga coughed. "And who convinced you of this?" he asked. "Cause, I couldn't ever nag you into quitting."

Kagome shrugged. "Eh, no one important."

Inu Yasha turned and glared at her.

Kouga laughed. "Must be someone you care a lot about then." He replied. "Well, when do you want me to bring the kids home?"

Kagome grinned wickedly. "Who said I wanted you to bring them home?"

Kouga paused for a minute before responding. "You want me to keep them here tonight?" he asked.

Kagome blinked for a minute. "I was only joking, Kouga, I didn't mean it. They're my responsibility," she scowled.

He laughed."It's ok,if you want me to.I mean it's just quiet around here you know and it's kinda nice to have some noise in the house."Kouga said."I didn't mean anything bad I sorry."

Kagome smiled and sat down at the kitchen table. "Kouga, you sure it's gonna be ok with the kids there and stuff?"

Kouga laughed "Sure its good to have someone here again.You know especially after Inu disappeared ."He said sadly.

Kagome sighed and ran her had through her hair. "Yea, I know." she said.

Souta yelled."Hey,Kouga can we watch FindingNemo again?!"

Kouga laughed."It sounds like I am being beckoned. Butno,its ok,it'scool if they stay over tonight and I will bring them home first thing in the morning."

The girl nodded and looked down at the list lying on the table of the things she had to take care of later tomorrow morning. Her eyes lifted to look at Inu Yasha. "Alright, Kouga. I'll see you tomorrow. Kiss the kids for me."

Inu Yasha sighed. "Did you have to talk to him for so long?" he asked as he lit a cigarette.

Kagome looked up at him. "I'm sorry, Lord and Master, I stole your boyfriend while you were away."

Inu Yasha scowled "Yeah it sounds like wedding plans are in the make."

She laughed. "What you jealous?"

He blushed. "Me,jealous? You have to be kidding,"InuYashashot back."Besides,I thought we were going to wrap presents not talk about your love affairs."

She narrowed her eyes. "And we both know what one of you are jealous of too?"

He growled "Hey thats yours and his business not mine.Remember I left and when I did that I threw alot of things away."Inu Yasha picked up a bag full of toys "So its none of my concern."

Kagome looked at him, smiling slightly. "The man's still in your court."

He shrugged "So what? He isnt the kind to stay alone long he will find someone else."

She sighed and rubbed her nose. "You know, you are a pessimisstic fuck.

Inu nodded "Tell me something I don't know." he said as he finished off his cigarette "Now where is the wrapping paper?"

The girl looked up at him with a little more than slight certainty of what was going on in his head anymore, but she trusted her heart with how she still felt. "Inu Yasha, you know, we both still care a lot about you. He does, especially." She finished there, not wanting to add her feelings to.

He dug around in the bag acting like he didnt hear her but he did "Now ."Inu said as he pulled out a toy "Who does this go to?"

Kagome smiled slightly as she settled into the homey Christmas feel of present wrapping, trying to forget her worries for the moment.

Inu moved from the couch down onto the floor as he tried his hand at wrapping "This is the only thing I dont like about this time of year ."He said.Mean while behind the pair golden eyes watched them ready to pounce at any moment.A few moments later Buyo ripped through the kitchen and into the wrapping paper and tape that lay in the floor.

As Buyo ripped through the wrapping paper and sprayed glitter all over Kagome that lay on the floor. Kagome sneezed and yelped as she dodged at out the kamikaze cat's way. She fell into Inu Yasha's chest and stared after the psychotic trial it left in it's path.

Inu laughed as Kagome laid in his lap "Damn what on earth have you been feeding that cat?"Buyo got out of the paper kicking her feet from some tape that was stuck to the botttom of them.

Kagome looked up at him from her crumpled position her silken hair splayed across his legs. "Well, the boys have probably been sneaking them the Hershey kisses that I have left out for the kids all through christmas."

He blinked "Well that explains alot."Inu said.

The girl laughed and smiled and nestled her head against his abs a bit. "You know, it means a lot to have you back for the holidays, Inu Yasha."

He nodded as he ran a hand into her hair "I know but I do miss my friends." The young man sighed "Give me the phone Im going to call the pervert and see how he is."

Kagome paused slowly then nodded. "Alright." She nodded and reached over, not wanting to leave his warmth but slowly rolling out of his cradle of comfort. She lifted the phone and handed it to him from it's spot.

Inu took the phone from her hand and looked at her "Is Sango and Miroku living together or what?"He asked.

Kagome nodded and rubbed her arms slightly. "Sango doesn'tly really come around much; its better if she didn't strain on her's and Miroku's relationship," she said softly as the soft thunderous rumble of the theater kicked on.

He sighed as he dialed the number to Miroku's home "Well they will get over it."Inu stated as he heard the phone click and pick up "Hello ."Said a sleepy female voice from the other end of the line.Inu smirked "Well well did I disturb you and the pervert in the middle of something ?"Inu asked Sango and looked over at Kagome with a wide grin.

Sango's eyes widened as she looked over at Miroku's sleeping form. "Inu Yasha?" she asked in surprise.

"The one and only."He said in response "How are things going ? Any kids yet?"

Miroku rolled over and yawned "Who the hell is calling Sango?"He asked as his voice cracked with sleep.

The woman laughed and stroked Miroku's forehead. "No, oh my god, here's Miroku," she said excitedly.

Miroku blinked and took the phone "Hello?"

Inu laughed "Tired from fucking all day ?"

Miroku blinked "Inu Yasha? Is that you?"

Inu rolled his dark eyes "No its your mother Im calling to see if you have clean underwear.Yes its me you baka."

His friend set up in bed "Where the hell have you been?!"

He yelled "You have had everyone worried!"

Inu held the phone away from his ear "Ano...Can you like stopyelling in my ear?"he asked

Kagome laughed and sat up, smiling with a weary look in her eye, sure of his friend's relief to hear Inu Yasha's voice.

Miroku calmed down a bit "Ok now where are you at right now ? Do you need someone to come and pick you up?"

Inu blinked "No no Im fine I dont need anyone to come and get me .I just wanted to call and check up on you and wish you guys a Merry Christmas is all."

Miroku looked over at Sango as he talked "Inu when are you coming home? Everyone is worried about you."

Inu sighed "I dont want to talkabout that right now."he said in response "But I will be by to visit around Christams so dont worry."

Miroku frowned "Alright bone head I will see you then."

Inu laughed "Ok I will see you in a few days hentai,night." Violet eyes closed in aggrivation as his friend sighed "Yeah good night Inu."

Sango slide her arms around Miroku's waist and closed her eyes. She was happy that everything was happy with his friend.

"What do you think is going on with him Sango?"Miroku asked as he wrapped his arms around her.

The woman smile and stroked his forehead. "Something good, I hope," she whispered into the night. "I love you, Miroku."

Miroku lowered his face to hers "And I love you, Sango."He whispered and kissed her lips.

Inu Yasha put the phone back on the cradle "Well that was fun."he said as he rubbed his ear "I think Im deaf in that ear now."

Kagome reached out and traced a finger down the back of his hand. "I think... that everythings going to be ok," she said as she closed her hand up and pulled it back into her lap, lifting her silver eyes to his, as they reflected the snowflakes falling outside and the fire behind them, mirrored in the window.

He sighed. "It might be ok but it will never be the same and you know that."

"I know it wont be easy, but I know that I can do it if I have to." Kagome said as she looked down at her clasped hands in her lap.

Inu's shoulders slumped as he sat there "I just want everyone to get along you know.For everyone to have a semi-peaceful life."

The girl rested her head back and blew her hair back. "I mad some sucky choices as a teenager and...I want to do stuff with my life now, that I can't really do with Mayu as an asset." Hurt suddenly passed through Kagome's eyes as something hit her. "My god. I've actually come to think of her like that..." Her eyes darkened considerably as she stared off at the wall. "What the hell has happened to what I used to be?"

Inu lowered his head "All parents feel that way.I felt that way when Shippou and Souta came to live with me. I felt like my life was over that all the fun I was having would be over with."He smiled slightly "But its not."

Kagome pushed her hands through her hair and trailed her fingers down her face. "I love them like they were all my own babies, and I always promised Mayu brothers and sisters. That's why I was so upset when..." her voice faltered and she rubbed her eyes unconsciously. "I don't want to take her away from here, but I'm pretty sure that even if you don't marry Kouga, I can't be your babysitter forever."

Inu looked up at her and frowned "I just got back and here you are talking about taking her away again."He stood up and rubbed his face in aggrivation "If you dont mind Kagome I think Im going to go to bed I feel a headache coming on."

Kagome wrapped her hand around his. "I don't mean right now, Inu Yasha, I just want to get this out of the way now, so that we can spend as long as we do have together, thinking about everything else, but that."

"Well why in the hell do you have to bring it up now?!" He shot back. "Hell you were saying how much you were glad I was home and now you bring up this. And where did you get that Im going to marry Kouga?"

The girl frowned and backed off."I don't know, I just..." she looked away and bit her lip. "Dammit, Inu Yasha!" She looked back up at him with tears in her eyes. "I don't want you to, but if I expect that, then I wont be disappointed ya know?" she said as she stood up and walked off to go scoop up the rest of the groceries, mostly the bathroom stuff, and went to put them away in the mirror above the sink.

Inu growled and walked down the hall to his room pulling off his shirt as he went .He threw it on the floor and closed the door behind him "Damn I should have just stayed gone ."He muttered under his breath as he moved over to his bed and sat down.

Kagome finally came back out and cleaned up, finished up wrapping the presents, assumed Inu Yasha was his room for the rest of the night, `wrapped' his door, and stuck a `for Kouga' sign on it. Kagome looked at the small door handle, for a moment, wanting so badly to open it.

She closed her eyes and swallowed, turning back around, pausing to look at the kids room. She smiled, walking in. Sitting down on the floor she picked up one of Mayu's dolls that Souta had spent so long trying to convince Kagome that had he had not buried in the sandbox to get back at her for pouring syrup on his Power Ranger movie. She smiled and picked up Shippou's pillow that he had demanded to have before he left with Narkau every time he left the house, and he wouldn't let anyone else but Mayu hand it to him. She picked up Souta's favorite Sailor Moon blanket and covered up with it huddled against the wall. She sighed and leaned her head back. Kagome loved all the kids with all of her heart. She didn't want them to hurt ever again.

Inu Yasha laid back on the bed and stared at the ceiling "Im just a bad luck magnet..every time things start looking good it fucks up."he yawned and closed his eyes tired from the events that happened earlier in the day.

Sun filtered through the country house to the dawn of the new day and freshly fallen snow.

Inu Yasha growled and hid under the covers .

Kagome stepped out of the showers and wrapped the soft satin robe around herself. "Well, I better wake Inu Yasha," she sighed, looking at the clock on the sink. "It's almost 6:00." she pulled her hair up and walked down the hall, carefully walking in and over to Inu Yasha's bed and sitting down, leaning over him, perched at his hip and stretching her torso across his. "Inu Yasha, wake up, Kouga's gonna be here around Nine tonight and I want to start decorating now so we can get it all finished."

He groaned. "Chotto…five more minutes." Inu rolled over and pulled the pillow over his head.

The girl smiled and slowly pulled the pillow away. "If you don't open your eyes, I'm going to kiss you with Listerine Mouth. I didn't rinse my mouth yet."

He cracked his eyes open "Keh...Im awake Im awake."inu said as he sat up and stretched.

Kagome smile and groaned. "I'm glad someone is," she muttered, stroking her hands through the folds of the silky robe."

Inu looked over at her. "Ever hear of instant coffee? Make some, that will wake you up."

The girl`s eyes suddenly went wide and she yelped. "Oh my god!" she screamed and leapt back towards Inu Yasha and point toward just in front of where she had been sitting and where a large fat black spider sat.

Inu focused his eyes to where she was pointing and jumped out of bed squishing the spider "Damn they just follow you every where dont they?"he asked as he looked at her.

She nodded and stood up shakily, looking up at him. "Thanks."

He rubbed his eyes and yawned "No problem I dont want you to get sick again."Inu said as he walked out his door and towards the kitchen.

Kagome shook her head and sighed, walking out to the kitchen. "What do you want for breakfast?"

Inu shrugged "Doesnt matter surprise me."He said as he sat down.

"Bad move," she said as she turned, smirking to the cabinets, hiding what she was doing from then on out to him."

He raised a brow "Oh no am I going to live through it?"

She winked at him over her shoulder. "I dunno..." she teased.

Inu stood up and slowly began to creep out of the kitchen.

The girl reached over grabbed his wrist yanked his wrist, pulled him over and pinned him against the corner. "No, see, you gotta be indecisive and not make a simple choice for breakfast," she sneered, teasingly. "You aren't going anywhere."

Sweat beaded on Inu's brow "But but I want to survive breakfast."he asaid as he stood there.

A wicked gleam shone in Kagome's eye, as she pushed him harder against the counter. "Oh you'll get your breakfast, and believe me, you'll survive." Suddenly she noticed how close her face was to Inu Yasha's, how little she would have to move to kiss him. She froze, then started to move to pull back.

Inu blushed when he heard a knock on the door and a familiar voice yelling "Kagome are you home?!" his head whipped around and looked at the door "Oh shit Miroku."Inu bolted from the kitchen and down the hall to his room.

Kagome drew in a shaky breath and dropped her head, embarrassed. She walked over to the door and opened it slowly. "Miroku?" she asked.

Miroku stood at the door with Sango standing behind him "Can I come in?"He asked.Inu quickly pulled on some warmer clothes and his boots while back in his room.

Kagome watched them catiously and then cast a glance behind her down the haul. "Um... sure." She opened the door wider. "What's up?"

Miroku stepped in "I got a call from Inu Yasha last night.Have you heard from him?"He asked .

The girl blinked slowly. "Inu Yasha?" Sango laughed. "Yes, isn't it so wonderful?!"

Inu opened his bed room window and bounded outside into the snow .Miroku nodded "I figured he would have called you or Kouga and told you where ge was."

"Why would he do that, he left because of us, remember?" she said sadly.

Miroku sighed "I guess I was just hoping was all."

Kagome nodded. "Well, Kouga will be here later... do you want to see the kids?"

"I would like to ."Miroku said "We have shopping that we need to get done first.What time can we come back?"

Kagome smiled. "Any time's fine."

Miroku returned the smile "Alright thats good and then maybe we can figure out where Inu is."He said .Inu creeped around the back of the house and sat down on the back porch to smoke a cigarette.

Kagome smiled and nodded as she led them to the door. "We'll all be glad to have you guys."

"Yeah it would be good to get back to some normal routine again."he said as he opened the door "We will be back later tonight."

Kagome nodded and closed the door as she watched them drive away out the window.

Inu heard the car pull out of the drive way and went back into the house through the back door "Damn its cold outside ."He muttered and pulled off his boots.

Kagome shivered and rubbed her arms. "Yea, well, lets get to the decorations," she said.

He nodded "Alright."Inu walked down the hall and into the living room "What do you want me to do?"

Kagome smiled and laughed. "Stay here at home."
