InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Falling For the Baby Sitter ❯ Secret ( Chapter 69 )
Kagome smiled and tugged on Inu Yasha's hand. The "Gentleman's Palace: Get 'em Hot!" flashed like a neon strobe light over the dusk stained city.
The day had passed at Stix fairly well, with Inu Yasha stuffing his face with Chinese food, and only one phone call about Mayu sticking gum in a girl's hair that was picking on her. (It would have to be butched in order to remove all the miniscule pieces that Mayu snuck into it during class.) Kagome had promised Inu Yasha that he would enjoy himself for the rest of the time, even more than he had earlier.
Inu Yasha looked around feeling uneasy. "Uhhhh...What is this place Kagome?" he asked quietly.
Kagome grinned and tugged him in further towards the door. "This is my other job." She waved to some girls dressed in barely in anything more than transparent bikinis. "Three of them, anyway."
His brown eyes widened as he looked at three girls. "Is this the stripper job?" the young man asked as he slowly followed her. "If it is, why in the hell are you dragging me here for?"
"Hey, hey, hey. I sing tonight." Kagome stuck her tongue out at him. She grinned and tugged him into the bar. "Hey Theondra!" she called to a girl with long brown hair swept up into a high pony tail, revealing her backless dress that hugged close to her "buttocks."
Inu Yasha blinked as he looked around. "You sing here? This place looks like a dive," he said matter-of-factly. "Let's just go home, you don't need this job. If I have to, I will give you a raise."
Theondra blinked as she came over. "So this is your day job you say that pays a lot?" she asked, indicating Inu Yasha, giving him a sweeping look.
Inu Yasha narrowed his eyes at the woman as he asked. "What, did I grow a third eye in the middle of my forehead or something?"
"No, you just don't look like you'd have much where it counted," she commented, arching a brow at him.
Kagome put a hand on Inu Yasha's mouth, then kissed his cheek, winking at Theondra. "Oh he's got plenty. And he's not paying me enough to just say that." She patted his shoulder and walked away, trailing her fingers down his arm.
"Take care of him, will ya?" she whispered to Theondra as she passed.
Theondra grinned. "She's getting ready to sing. Come with me, I'll get you a front row seat."
Inu Yasha scowled and followed the woman. The chains on his bondage pants clanked together as he walked. "How long has Kagome worked in this dump any how?"
"Ah ever since this dickhead left her to work a shit load of jobs so she could support three kids is what I've heard the grapevine. It's surprising how she's finally got a man to pay her for her services. She works herself to death and still can't make ends meet, and she's getting desperate."
"A man to pay for her services..." he repeated aloud, "What are her services?" Inu Yasha asked in an upset tone "What has she been up to?"
The woman looked over at him. "What ever she has to do to keep things paid for."
Inu Yasha's jaw clenched. "Damn it, I never meant to leave her in such a big mess, I thought I had enough money in my bank account to keep her and the kids up for a while," he muttered to himself.
Theondra sat him down. She winked at him as she walked away. "She'll be on after a while." Some band took out their grand finale and cleared off the stage. Then some music blared as another band took its place. Lights showered down across the runway. A girl in a sparkling dress emerged from the darkness in to the dim maroon lighting on the stage. Her hair was damp and in the dark lighting, her body glinted with a glitter sprayed across her body.
Inu Yasha looked up to the stage as he rubbed his neck trying to get comfortable. "Damn, I am such a fucking jerk," he said to himself. The young man brushed a few strands of dark hair from his eyes and tried to relax and enjoy the show.
The girl sang along with the band for a couple of the songs, and then the guitar strummed a few strings.
"Watch the sunrise," the girl sang as she stepped forward down the runway.
"Say you're goodbyes,
Off we go.
Some conversation,
No contemplation,
Hit the road..."
Her hand slowly traveled up her body as her lips wrapped around her words.
Inu Yasha sighed as he moved around his chair feeling uncomfortable as he watched the girl sing. He smiled slightly as he watched for a bit longer, remembering what it felt like to perform in front of a crowd like she was doing now.
"Car over heats,
Jump out of my seat,
On the side of the highway,
Baby."
She had reached the end of the runway where a pole was place and she was sliding down, her hair gathering at the back of her head, her skirt slowly bunching up, hinting at nothing but bare skin under the dress.
"Our road is long,
your hold is strong,
Please don't ever let go,
Oh no."
Inu Yasha leaned forward and began watching the girl more intently. "Maybe this place isn't so bad," he said as smiled. "Not bad at all."
The girl winked, seemingly straight at him and licked her lips before continuing to sing.
"I know I don't know you,
But I want you so bad.
Every one has a secret,
But can they keep it?
Oh no they can't."
She traced her fingers up her face peering through them with eyes closed so far that you couldn't tell the color.
The young man tilted his head as he looked at her. "What the ...Did she just wink at me?" he asked aloud. Inu Yasha leaned back in his chair and folded his arms across his chest and closed his eyes slightly.
The girl slipped her hand down her thigh, and then dragged it up, pulling the skirt up to her stomach.
"I'm driving fast now,
Don't think I know how to go slow,
Where you at now,
I feel around,
There you are."
Inu Yasha growled. "Ok, maybe I was wrong, maybe this isn't the kind of place Kagome should work." He looked around at all the men drooling over the young woman and he felt sick to his stomach. He stood up and brushed off his shirt. "I need a drink," Inu Yasha muttered and walked over to the bar.
"Cool the engines,
calm these jets,
I ask you how hot can it get,
and as you wipe of beads of sweat,
Slowly you say, `I'm not there yet.'"
The girl continued singing, and swinging her hips to the rest of the choreographed dance, but she watched him walk away for a few seconds before she turned her attention back to the song.
Theondra smiled up at Inu Yasha from the bar. "So how'd you like the boss's prize girl?" she asked, wiping down the bar.
Inu Yasha stood at the bar and looked at the bartender. "Hey, give a scotch straight no ice."
The bartender eyed him for a minute. "Need ID if you want it," he shot back.
Inu Yasha huffed and sat down on the bar stool grumbling to himself.
Theondra eyed him and leaned against the counter. "What no comments? The boss fawns over her constantly, and she gets job offers constantly for roles in pornos, but the boss turns them all down, saying she's the Palace's star."
Inu Yasha eyed the woman. "And who might you be talking about?"
She nodded towards the stage as the song ended and the girl made her way back down the runway.
"And she is?" he asked as he watched the bartender pour drinks for other customers.
"Amazing, that's what she is. But if you're looking for a name, it's surprising that you didn't recognize her. It's your mistress herself."
Inu blinked and looked over his shoulder "Kagome?" he said in disbelief. A scowl settled over his face. "She's not my mistress."
The woman laughed. "Of course you're not," she said. Someone walked up behind him, debating on whether or not to touch his shoulder. "Um, Inu Yasha?" a voice asked quietly
"Huh? What is it?" he asked not bothering to look back at the voice.
Kagome lowered herself into the seat next to him. "How'd you like it?"
Inu Yasha wrinkled his nose and put on a fake smile. "It was good, I liked it."
She watched him for a moment. "Then why'd you walk away?"
He laughed. "I wanted a drink, but I can't get one."
Staring at him, she looked away. "What did you want?" she asked quietly.
"I wanted a scotch, but the prick of a bartender won't let me have one." Inu Yasha said in an arrogant tone. "Guess I'm not old enough to have a drink."
Kagome shot a glare. "Carl," she growled, and jerked her head in Inu Yasha's direction. The man gave an agitated sigh and slid Inu Yasha's drink down to him. Kagome looked off into the crowd.
"Kagome! Your strip number is coming up!" Theondra yelled down the bar. Kagome looked down towards her and sighed.
Inu Yasha grabbed the scotch and downed it quickly and banged the glass down onto the bar. "Strip number?" he asked as he looked over at her. "You have got to be kidding me.''
She looked up at him, and then turned back towards the crowd before standing up at smoothing her skirt. "Gotta keep the kids fed some how," she said as she turned.
Inu Yasha growled. "Kagome, damn it, I have enough money, you don't have to do this now!"
Kagome whipped around and glared at him through tear-filled eyes. "Until when, Inu Yasha?" she asked. "How do I know when you're going to run off next?!"
Hurt flashed on the boys face and he turned around and ordered another scotch. "I swear on my own life; I'm not going to leave again," he said before he downed the scotch.
She glared at him. "Promise me. Promise me I'll never have to tell the kids I don't know if you're coming back or not again."
"I promise, Kagome. I will never leave again." He stared down at the bar. "But I want you to quit this job."
"Then can we leave?" she asked quietly.
He nodded and stood up. "Yeah, let's leave and go home."
Kagome nodded and grabbed his hand, squeezing it gently. She turned with him and walked out of the bar.
Inu Yasha yawned as they walked down the street. "Now that we have made a deal what do you think about doing some Christmas shopping?"
She smiled up at him. "Ok. Where do you want to go?"
"Well, I was thinking that maybe we could go to the mall," Inu Yasha said hopefully. "I haven't been to one in a long time."
Kagome blinked, and then nodded once. "OK, let's go."
Inu Yasha's face lit up like a kid in a candy store. "You mean I get my way for once?"
She stuck her tongue out at him. "Don't think too much of it. It's only because I'm still heady from all the smoke back there."
Inu Yasha laughed. "And, pray tell, what were you smoking back there?"
"Oh, a little of this, a little of that."
Inu Yasha narrowed his eyes at her as they walked and then sighed. "Oh well, cant say I didn't use to do the same at one time."
She giggled and socked his shoulder. "I'm kidding!" she laughed as a crowd of people made them have to hug the wall. Her eyes lifted up to his and she smiled softly, waiting for them to pass.
Inu Yasha pulled his jacket closed around his neck. "I forgot how cold it got here at this time of year."
Kagome nodded gently, her bare legs turning blue, from still wearing her performance outfit. She giggled. "I'm gonna be an ice cube when we get home."
Inu Yasha smirked and pulled off his leather trench coat and threw it over her shoulders. "Here, before you turn into a Smurf."
She stuck her tongue out at him, then leaned up and licked his cheek. Pulling away laughing, the girl cuddled down against his chest and curled into the coat. "Mmm... warm."
"Yeah that jacket keeps a person pretty warm, that's why I like it," he said as they continued to walk.
