Victoria was in Sesshoumaru’s bed when the phone rang. She went to spend Thanksgiving in Japan with Sesshoumaru. Her family was to join them within the next couple of days. She sighed and looked at the time. This was the first time they were really alone since he took her as his mate and she didn’t like to be interrupted. Before she could reach the phone Sesshoumaru leaned over her and picked up the receiver. It was three in the morning and he was pissed.

“This had better be good.” The cranky youkai growled. Victoria tried to go back to sleep but she was unsettled with Sesshoumaru’s silence and tense body. He hung up the phone and sat up. He placed a hand on her shoulder and held her down. Victoria was getting worried.

“Sesshou-kun?” Victoria whispered as she tried to fight against the tight grip he had on her.

“We are returning to America now.” Sesshoumaru said quietly.

“But why it’s Thanksgiving day, travel will be terrible.” Victoria sighed. She tried to get up again but Sesshoumaru still held her down without looking at her. “Sesshoumaru, your scaring me.”

Sesshoumaru looked into Victoria’s eyes then turned away. “Victoria, they’re gone.”

Victoria furrowed her brow and chuckled nervously. “Wait, what? Who’s gone?”

“There was an accident at the house in America, they’re gone.”

Sesshoumaru was right in holding her down, Victoria screamed and thrashed in agony. “NO! It’s not true. They can’t be gone!” Sesshoumaru put his body over hers and held down both her arms.

“Please, Victoria. Calm down.” Sesshoumaru pleaded quietly.

“Please, no Sesshoumaru. Don’t tell me their dead. Please tell me it’s not true.” Victoria pleaded with Sesshoumaru with tears in her eyes. She closed her eyes as more and more tears flowed. “Please.” Sesshoumaru watched the torment in his mate’s face and closed his eyes.

“I’ll take you home.” Sesshoumaru whispered as he nuzzled her neck.

Victoria’s wails died down to chocked hiccups. Sesshoumaru finally lifted his head to see Victoria’s flushed, moist face asleep. He let her wrists go and pulled her body to his.
4 months later...

Victoria stood in the kitchen humming as she cooked dinner. She decided to move to Tokushima on the Shikoku island with Sesshoumaru, it was far from his home in Tokyo but she didn’t mind. She liked living in a more modest house compared to the mansion anyway. She had been sick lately and she couldn’t understand why, just when her life was starting to find some normalcy. Dinner would be ready soon and Sesshoumaru would be home. She sighed when she thought of the man who was now her husband. He told her in the old times youkai just gave the making mark and youkai and humans alike would understand it, but these days to deter other youkai he uses the mark, to deter humans he’ll use a wedding ring. They came to live in Tokushima a month after their small wedding. After that Sesshoumaru had been insistent on leaving Tokyo. He told her that he didn’t want to run into old friends and enemies.

She couldn’t sleep for the first month after her family’s death. She stayed up all night as Sesshoumaru told her stories of the feudal era, his brother and his drama. Sesshoumaru told her how he kept secrets of their father’s will and how he wants his forgiveness but now it’s too late. Victoria wanted to know how her Uncle Yasha died. Sesshoumaru told Victoria of a evil youkai named Naraku and his wife Kikyou. They had been waging a silent war for the world for over five hundred years. That at that very moment, Inuyasha and a member of her family named Kagome were fighting a battle along with him. He told Victoria of Kagome’s fate and how she was able to travel in time. Kagome was killed for her life force and Inuyasha was killed five hundred years later for his. Killing powerful mikos and demons were the only way they could live. Once the dark miko and youkai mated they sealed their fate, and now they couldn’t survive unless another died. That was why Sesshoumaru took Victoria away from Tokyo, Naraku and Kikyou once again took up residence there.

Victoria slept more now that she has been sick. So the stories stopped, Sesshoumaru was much more protective now and took her to Russia to meet with a associate. She came back from Russia with new sai swords made from Sesshoumaru’s fang, especially for her. He even refused to take man made transportation. As he carried her in the sky across the ocean he told her that he wouldn’t trust humans with her safety.

Sesshoumaru stepped into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around he waist. He entwined his fingers on her stomach and kissed her neck.

Victoria giggled and leaned back for more affection. “Hey you,” she said sweetly. “Dinner will be ready soon.” Suddenly a wave of nausea hit her and she rushed to the bathroom. It didn’t take long for Sesshoumaru to follow and lift her into his arms after she finished kneeling over the toilet. She wrapped her arms around his neck and cried.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” She sobbed. “Maybe I should go to the doctor.”

“No.” Sesshoumaru responded flatly.

Victoria looked up in confusion. “Why not.”
“They will see that our child is not human.”

Victoria’s eyes grew wide. “O-Our child! I’m pregnant!”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

The following weeks had been happy ones as Victoria prepared for her baby. Sesshoumaru assured her that it would be a fast pregnancy and that their baby would be full youkai but with the soul of a human. Victoria was ecstatic. Then one night all that was taken from her.

Sesshoumaru rushed into their bedroom and lifted Victoria up in his arms, along with her swords. He ran into another room and refused to answer her frantic questions until he was there. Victoria knew what the room was for and was scared. Sesshoumaru bent down and opened the entrance to the under ground escape route.

“Go!” He yelled.

“No, what’s going on!” Victoria said with tears.

Sesshoumaru grabbed her and put her in the hole. “Do you remember how to mask your scent and aura!?”

Victoria shook with fear. “Y-yea but please come with me, tell me what’s happening.”

“Naraku and Kikyou. They found me and Naraku is dying.” Sesshoumaru responded.

Victoria knew what he was saying and heard a thump. They were in the house. She looked up in fear as she masked her scent. Sesshoumaru closed his eyes as if in pain. He couldn’t smell her anymore, she knew that tore him apart. “Please Sesshoumaru.”

“I love you.” Sesshoumaru said softly. “I’ll find you, I promise.”

Victoria began to back away, never taking her eyes off his.

“Higurashi.” Sesshoumaru said. “Remember that name, and tell my brother I asked for his forgiveness. Now go.”

“I love you, I love you so much.” Victoria cried as she kissed him over and over. Then he closed the entrance and left her alone. Victoria turned and ran as she heard crashing and fighting. Then silence.

Victoria was too afraid to return to the house and get her things, she went straight to Tokyo and found the Higurashi shrine.

Sesshoumaru watched in horror as Victoria slumped to the ground with the arrow in her chest. Her youkai had separated from her and disappeared, she had been purified. She breathed heavily as the human part of her began to die also. The arrow had hit her heart. Sesshoumaru fell to his knees and roared in agony. Victoria looked up and smiled weakly.

“Don’t be sad.” Victoria said softly as she reached up and touched his cheek. Sesshoumaru took her into his arms and pulled her in his lap.

“Victoria.” He whispered.

“I’ll find you, I promise.” She said as she remembered the last night they were together before she came to the feudal era. “Please don’t forget me. I won’t forget you.”

“I-I love–“ Sesshoumaru began. But before he could finish, Victoria’s hand dropped away and fell limply to the ground. Sesshoumaru’s eyes shook as he gently placed Victoria on the ground and placed her hands over her pregnant belly. His mate, his children. They were dead and he was dead inside.

Sesshoumaru twitched his ear at the sound of approaching foot steps. He didn’t care who it was he just sat there.

“Get up.” It was the voice of his younger brother. He sounded hurt by Victoria’s death and his brother’s reaction to it. “Don’t let it end like this.”

Sesshoumaru looked up at felt more lost then he has ever felt. He stroked the hair from his mate’s peaceful cheek and stood. Slowly he turned to Inuyasha and punched him square in the jaw. The others looked on in silence as Sesshoumaru turned to Kikyou and drew his other sword. Kikyou took a reflexive step back as the other members of the pack stood and faced her. Kagome lifted her arrow with tearful eyes and aimed it for the shikon no tama is the dark miko’s hand. Inuyasha took his battle stance and prepared for Kagome to shoot her arrow. Sango and Miroku stepped back in respect for Inuyasha’s wishes. He said that this was his and Kagome’s fight. Inuyasha now understood that this was now also Sesshoumaru’s fight.

Kagome felt tears fall down her cheeks and she tried to block out the images of Victoria being killed. She didn’t have to help them, but she did. Her only crime was being in love and now she was gone. Kagome squeezed her eyes shut in anger, hurt, and frustration.

Kagome opened her eyes and looked at Kikyou with a pained expression. “I never wanted it to end this way.” She said to Kikyou right before she released her powerful arrow. There was nothing the weakened miko could do as Kagome’s arrow hit the mark, right into the shikon no tama. Kikyou gasped as the jewel burned her hand. The jewel fell from her hand and Inuyasha saw Kikyou’s barrier waver. He swallowed hard and took a deep breath.
“You were the first woman I ever learned to care for.” Inuyasha said to the surprised Kikyou. With tears in his eyes, Inuyasha unleashed his mighty wind scar and hit Kikyou’s barrier with full force. When the smoke cleared, Kikyou was standing with the jewel at her feet and her barrier gone. Kikyou sighed as she saw Sesshoumaru walk towards her. She looked at Inuyasha and Kagome and smiled sadly.

“I didn’t want this either, Kagome. Be happy, the both of you.” Kikyou said softly. She turned to see Sesshoumaru towering before her. He looked down with an unreadable expression. A small tear slid down her cheek and she closed her eyes. She didn’t cry out when she felt the ice cold blade of the tokujin pierce her heart. She open her eyes again and gave Sesshoumaru a look of peace. “Thank you, Sesshoumaru. Please forgive me.” She closed her eyes for the last time and fell to the ground.

Inuyasha took Kagome in his arms and closed his eyes. “Miroku.” He said softly. Inuyasha turned away when Miroku stood besides him and opened the kazaana on Kikyou. The body of the priestess disappeared. And seconds later the hole in Miroku’s hand closed for good.

Inuyasha looked over to the spot where Kikyou once laid in silence. Suddenly he felt the warm palm of his sweet Kagome on his cheek. He looked down on his Beautiful mate and smiled. “It’s over Kagome.” He sighed.

Kagome frowned and turned to the shikon no tama on the ground. “It isn’t over yet.” Kagome walked over to the jewel, just as she was about to pick it up, Kanna came from the trees. The demon of the void rotated her mirror in silence and began to absorb the souls of the heros. Kagome clutched her eyes shut and wanted to scream.

‘No, not like this. It can’t end like this.’ She thought to herself. Then suddenly the feeling of emptiness was gone and she opened her eyes in disbelief. Kagura was standing over Kanna who was ripped in half with her mirror scattered over her. Kagura looked at the group with pained eyes.

Inuyasha ran besides Kagome and looked at Kagura. “What are you doing!” Inuyasha asked in shock.

Kagura smiled softly and looked to Victoria’s body. “Returning a favor.” Kagura turned to Sesshoumaru and wanted to cry. “I’m sorry.” She said quietly.

Sesshoumaru remained silent, throughout the entire ordeal.

Kagome stepped forward and finally picked up the completed Shikon no Tama. She sighed as her heart pounded. “Once again the future is uncertain.” Kagome said. “I never expected something like this to happen.”

Inuyasha wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “Kagome, I want you to make the wish.”

Kagome took in a sharp breath and looked up at her mate. “But, Inuyasha. What about your dreams, the reason you sought out the jewel was to become a full demon.”

Inuyasha laughed. “I don’t need that Kagome, I have everything I need.” Kagome smiled brighter and looked at her friends. Her smile fell when she saw Sesshoumaru in the distance, knelling next to his lost love. Kagome walked over to Sesshoumaru and Victoria.

She sat next to the body and Sesshoumaru and sighed. “I don’t know what will happen after this. Maybe the well will close, maybe not. But I can’t think about that right now can I?” Kagome closed her eyes and held the jewel close. ‘I’m not sure how to do this, please hear me Midoriko. Help me purify the jewel.’ Kagome could hear shocked gasps all around her and she opened her eyes and looked up. There was Midoriko in all her glory she was bathed in a pure white light and floating over Victoria’s body. She looked sad as she lowered herself down next to Victoria.

“Kagome, I am so proud of you.” Midoriko looked up and smiled. “I’m proud of all of you.” The legendary miko looked at Sesshoumaru. “And you Sesshoumaru, you loved this woman who died for you. Would you like to know why I’m here right now?”

Sesshoumaru remained silent.

Midoriko smiled warmly. “Because Kagome made a wish, a wish for love.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes had hope in them as he looked down on Victoria expectantly. Midoriko sighed sadly and lifted Sesshoumaru’s chin to look at her. “I’m sorry young prince. I can not grant the wish.”

For the first time in a while, Sesshoumaru spoke. He sounded so lost. “Why?”

Midoriko frowned. “Because at this very moment everything will be different, the entire world will shift and the future will change, her soul doesn’t belong in this time. I wouldn’t be able to revive her.” Sesshoumaru turned away from the miko and reached down to pick Victoria up. Just as he touched her, she disappeared leaving the necklace he gave her and her clothes behind. He didn’t react, he only picked up the necklace and walked away.

Midoriko sighed and looked at Kagome. “You would give up your wish for him. For your self-sacrifice, I will give you all what’s in your hearts. Thank you for freeing me, and saving the world.” And with that Midoriko disappeared in a brilliant flash of white light. Kagome gasped when she felt herself grow stronger and her body shift and change. Midoriko’s voice was all around them.

“Miko Kagome, the well is closed but you will see your family again. And be the man you love forever.” With her words, Kagome blacked out.

Inuyasha went for Kagome when Midoriko’s voice stopped him. “Hanyou Inuyasha, she is safe and always will be with you by her side. Your strength is incredible and will continue to grow. You will be loved and accepted and you will rule your lands wisely.” After Midoriko addressed Inuyasha he passed out next to his mate.

Sango held her brother close. “Young slayer Kohaku, you were just an innocent victim in this. You will come to understand your role in the future of your village and know that the deeds you committed were not your fault. Be happy young one, for you have a family who loves you.” Kohaku was the next to close his eyes and fall over in his sister’s arms.

Sango looked into the sky and felt Miroku’s arms hold her close. “Slayer Sango, be happy my dear. Your child will grow as will your other children. The sun will shine on your home again it will be alive with happy faces and you will be happy also.” Miroku laid the now unconscience slayer besides her brother and smiled softly. “Monk Miroku, it seems your wish was granted already. You will live a full life and with the woman you love. I give you the gift of love and friendship. You will be a great father and a great friend.” Midoriko giggled. “It’s up to you to be a good husband.” Miroku smiled as he wrapped his arm around Sango and passed out.

Shppou was silent for the most part and trembled next to Kagome’s sleeping form. He watched Victoria die and disappear and now he was afraid he would lose Kagome. “Oh, my dear fox demon Shippou. You stayed by Kagome’s side and was very brave. Do not worry my child, you will have your family and will never be alone again, and some day you will see her again. And some day you’ll understand love.” Shippou stifled his sobs and laid his head on Kagome’s chest and closed his eyes.

Kirara mewed sadly. “Sweet Kirara, you don’t need to protect me anymore. They need you now. And do not worry, I’ll always watch over all of you.” Kirara mewed again happily and rested her head next to Sango.

Kagura watched the events and began to turn away. Midoriko’s voice surrounded her. “Wind sorceress Kagura, you saved them without a second thought. Please believe me when I say that you will know happiness even if it isn’t with the young prince you’d expect.” Kagura sighed and allowed Midoriko’s sleep to claim her.

All was silent for a long while, except for the soft footfalls of Sesshoumaru. He came back and sighed. He started gathering the unconscience bodies in the fields and began carting them back to the castle. Something told him to return and now he knew why. This was now his pack and he needed to ensure their safety, though he would never admit that fact out loud. As Sesshoumaru took the last person to the castle, Midoriko’s image appeared in the sky and watched as Sesshoumaru disappeared into the castle. She smiled sweetly and blew a kiss in the dog prince’s direction.

‘I see what is in your heart great prince. Her soul will know you. You will find each other again.’ And finally Midoriko disappeared but not before remembering the wolf prince, Kouga and his clan. She knew his legs were destroyed when Naraku and Kikyou took his shards. Midoriko closed her eyes and granted what was in the wolf prince’s heart. She smiled and knew he would be happy. And then she was gone, carried away by the gentle breeze.

10 years later...

Kagome looked out on the land with golden eyes, her two black, triangular ears atop her head twitched in different directions. She dug her claws into the ground and sprinted into some bushes that were inadvertently giggling. Kagome roared playfully as two youkai children and a young handsome fox demon barreled out of the bushes together.

“Hanako gave us away!” A young silver hair boy growled at the even younger silver haired girl besides him.

Kagome stood up and frowned. “Jiro, be nice to your sister.”

The little boy lowered his head. “Sorry Mama.”

Kagome looked up at the fox demon. “Shippou, where’s Shiori?”

The young demon shrugged. “I think she and Kagura are in the fields with the new pup.”

Kagome smiled. “Kagura’s here with Midoriko!” She slapped Shippou’s arm. “Why didn’t you tell me!”

“OW! Ma that hurt!” Shippou held his arm in exaggerated pain.

Kagome turned and jogged away. “Serves you right! Keep an eye on your brother and sister!” Kagome said before she broke into a full run.

As she ran she looked around her surroundings, the sun was bright and warm on that beautiful summer afternoon. She passed the people of the demon slayer’s village, they waved happily at the miko turned hanyou. Kagome smiled when she thought of the memories involved with rebuilding the village. She loved leaving castle affairs and visiting the slayers village and her sister and family. Kagome passed the head house and an older Sango waved at her with a child in her arm and another older child reaching up to her with a orange for her to peel. Kirara was running in circles around her as a child not even two followed playfully. Kagome smiled and waved back. Next she passed Miroku and Ken’ichi, Rin’s mate. Miroku was showing Ken’ichi how to change the cloth diaper of his son. Kagome giggled as Ken’ichi fumbled cautiously. They looked up and waved. Kagome waved back, happy to see that Ken’ichi had brought Rin and their kids home from America for the celebration. Sometimes she forgot she was 500 years in the past and still slipped and called it America.

She kept running to the fields and passed her dear mate, Inuyasha. He and his first born son, Kazuki were scowling as a small servant read a scroll, no doubt business of the eastern lands. Kagome giggled at the mirror image of Father and Son. They both sat crossed legged and hunched over with their cheeks resting on their fists. The golden eyed boy flicked a ear in his mother’s direction but didn’t acknowledge her. Kagome smiled. He was so much like his father, it was scary. She continued running until she was stopped rather rudely by a hand grasping her arm. Kagome turned and looked into the blue eyes of a wolf.

“Hey Kouga-kun!” Victoria smiled as the wolf grinned and released her.

“Hey my Kagome, you ready to run away with me?” Kouga winked.

“Kouga!” It was the voice of Ayame, she stomped behind him with two demon wolf children in each of her hands.

Kouga turned and chuckled nervously. “Hey, koishii. You know I was only kidding right!” Kagome turned and shook her head in amusement. She dashed off again.

“Keep an eye on that wolf of yours, Ayame!” Kagome laughed over her shoulder.

“I will, thanks Kagome!” Ayame called out as she waved. Kagome could hear ‘damn wolf’ fading behind her.

Kagome slowed slightly as she enjoyed the rays of the sun. Kagome looked over and saw Rin sitting with Jaken and a young hanyou child who’s resemblance to a certain youkai human tore Kagome apart. ‘Victoria.’ Thought to herself as she waved at Rin and Victoria’s future father, Ryuu. Victoria smiled brightly when she finally caught sight of Kohaku and Shippou’s intended mate, Shiori. Kohaku smiled happily and waved at the hanyou approaching them. Kagome grinned and hugged Kohaku tightly.

“Whoa, easy sister! I’m only human, remember!” Kohaku choked out.

Kagome blushed and backed away. “Sorry Kohaku, sometimes I forget. Especially when I don’t see you all season.” Kagome chastised him playfully.

“Sorry sis.” Kohaku began. “But with the birth of Midoriko, Kagura just wanted it to be the three of us for a while.”

Kagome could see the sparkle in Kohaku’s eye when he mentioned his first born daughter.

Kohaku stepped aside and Kagome could see Kagura sitting in the grass with a small bundle in her arms. Kagome smile softened as she sat besides the new mother. “It’s amazing isn’t it.” Kagura said softly.

Kagome looked over to the little chocolate haired baby who was asleep in her mother’s arms. “She’s beautiful.” Kagome said.

“Thank you, Kagome.” Kagura smiled.

“I’m glad you came.” Kagome said. “I know Midoriko would be honored that you named your first child after her.”

Kagura sighed as a lone tear fell down her cheeks. “She gave me so much, when I didn’t deserve it. I could never thank her enough.”

Kagome leaned back on her hands and looked at the sky. “I don’t think she wants to be thanked. We freed her from the jewel, she just repaid the favor.”

“How is Sesshoumaru?” Kagura asked suddenly.

Kagome frowned and looked away. “He isn’t here, he knew Rin and Victoria’s father would be here. He can’t face little Ryuu. Not yet.”

Kagura sighed. “Five hundred years is a long time to wait. Do you think he will be okay.”

“Five hundred years is nothing for a youkai. He will see her again sooner then he thinks.” Kagome caught a familiar scent and gasped. She whipped around to see Sesshoumaru towering over her.

“Am I late.” He said flatly.

Kagome stood in surprise. “Sesshoumaru! No, um your right on time we were about to begin the celebration.”

“Hn,” the taiyoukai grumbled. He looked over to Kagura who had stood to greet him. He looked down on the baby in her arms and reached up, pulling the blanket away from the child’s face for a better look. Kagura smiled slightly and held her baby out to her former love. Sesshoumaru looked confused at first then took the baby in his arms. Kagome was glad to see that his arm grew back fully and smiled when Sesshoumaru held the baby carefully. He turned away and began walking to the village.

“Are you coming?” He said softly over his shoulder.

Kagome and the others smiled at each other and followed Sesshoumaru to the village. That night they celebrated Midoriko and the love and friendship they gained. They celebrated Victoria and honored her memory. The exchanged stories and laughed, they had a mighty feast and spent the night in the slayer’s village.

The next morning hinted the coming of fall and Inuyasha shrugged on his haori before stepping out of the guest hut for his morning hunt. He stepped over a small hill and noticed Sesshoumaru standing besides him.

“Hey.” Inuyasha said softly as he looked out on the land. “Things have changed, haven’t they?”

“Hn.” Was the response Inuyasha got.

“In five hundred years, all of this will be gone. People will be everywhere, and youkai will be in hiding.” Inuyasha sighed and looked at his brother. “Are you worried?”

“No.” Sesshoumaru replied.

“In five hundred years, you’ll see Victoria again. Does that worry you?”

“Yes.” Sesshoumaru’s answer surprised Inuyasha.

“Why?”

“She won’t remember me.” Sesshoumaru turned to face his brother. “Are you happy, Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha sighed and took a deep breath. “Yeah,” he replied with a happy far away look. “The happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

Sesshoumaru smiled and walked away without a word.

“You’ll be happy again too, Brother.” Inuyasha said as we walked away in the opposite direction.

500 years later...

Sesshoumaru had received word from America. Someone he hadn’t seen in about fifty years, it’s been fifty years already? Sesshoumaru decided to fly by plane, at least that way he would have time to contemplate as to why Rin’s son would call him there. He didn’t want to go. But things were different and five hundred years is a long time. Sometimes he felt more human than youkai, he was tamed in the years and he was sad most of the time and he didn’t know why. In the last non-existent year he felt more and more miserable and nothing could change that. He had lovers and friends but no one could seem to fill that void in his life.

He stood in front of Ryuu’s door and took a deep breath. His eyes shot open and he slammed his fist into the wooden door. A woman with dark hair answered the door and smiled. She was Japanese but obviously combined with another race, probably African American. The woman was very much human, but Sesshoumaru could sense spiritual energy within her, it was somewhere deep inside her.

“You must be Sesshoumaru.” The woman said with a cheery tone.

“Who are you to my Grandson.” Sesshoumaru asked as he stepped into the house without so much as a second glance at the woman.

The woman was shocked to say the least but smiled and closed the door behind them anyway. “I’m Jade, I’m Ryuu’s wife.” Sesshoumaru turned and feigned interest.

“Nice to meet you. Where is Ryuu?” Sesshoumaru said in a bored tone.

“He is in the office. Waiting for you.” Jade stared intently into Sesshoumaru’s eyes.

“What?” Sesshoumaru asked.

“Oh, nothing. I just seen your eyes somewhere before. I thought that all inu youkai looked alike. Dark hair and purple eyes. But the moment I opened the door, I knew you were inu youkai.” Jade looked away. “I knew you were the one who has haunted her dreams.”

Sesshoumaru was shocked and began to take a step towards the woman who reminded him of someone buried deep in his heart. Suddenly a deep voice stopped him in his tracks.

“Grandfather, I see you took the long way. You were hesitant to answer my call?” Ryuu the dark haired hanyou frowned as he stepped forward and put an arm around he wife. “I see you met my wife, Jade. She is Kagome’s aunt. We’ve been married for twenty years now. It is disappointing that you’ve only met her now. I’m sure mother would be disappointed in this strained relationship.”

Sesshoumaru growled. “I am not here to play games.”

Ryuu glared at the youkai who raised his mother as his own. “No, why did you come.”

“You called me here.”

“Indeed, follow me.” Ryuu said softly as he led Sesshoumaru to his office.

“You seem to prefer distance don’t you?” Ryuu smiled mischievously.

Sesshoumaru closed his eyes and thought of the last five hundred years. Sesshoumaru felt dead inside, he never allowed himself to become close to anyone after Rin, even Jaken had noticed the change in his Lord and spoke on it before he died. Sesshoumaru didn’t want to admit the truth. Did he really seem that different to everyone? So he refused to eat and always seemed to sleep even when awake. Sesshoumaru didn’t want anyone concerned for him, after all he never concerned himself with anyone else.

One question always seemed to arise within him. Is it all because of her? The person who gave her life to save his. The demon that was purified instead of him, the human who took a arrow to the heart. The woman who loved him. And he couldn’t save her, he was helpless. Sesshoumaru never wanted to feel helpless, but his sword was lost and she died. And everyday, every year, every decade without her killed another piece of him every time.

“Why did you request my presence, Ryuu?” Sesshoumaru demanded.

Ryuu almost glared at Sesshoumaru but his expression became passive. He got straight to the point. “My wife and I have a daughter. My family knows of demons and they except me as hanyou, they also know of Inuyasha and Kagome. I have regaled them with stories of the feudal era. Of my family and of you. But never in my daughter’s life have I ever mentioned your name or anything about you.”

You looked in my eyes and I get emotional
I know it’s crazy but you still can touch my heart

Sesshoumaru’s heart felt like it was about to give out. He was so weary and all he wanted was to close his eyes and never open them again. But curiosity kept him going, at least for now. “What is this about?” Sesshoumaru wanted to know. He saw Ryuu make a
movement and pull a large book from the drawer of his desk. He tossed the book to Sesshoumaru almost angrily. Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes at the young hanyou and opened the book. There it was done in pencil, was a portrait of a white haired demon. It was him. Sesshoumaru looked up, allowing the twinge of confusion to pass his features.

And after this time, you’d think that I wouldn’t feel the same
But time wasn’t for nothing and nothing’s changed

“My daughter is talented, don’t you agree?” Ryuu said quietly. “She once told Inuyasha that she dreams of a demon, that he is connected to in some way. Ever since she was a little girl, she’s drawn pictures of dog demons, of you Sesshoumaru. When we ask her about you, she says that she knows you are real. And that you are her destiny. My daughter screams your name now at night, it started on her nineteenth birthday. She doesn’t even know she does it. She has changed, if anything she is just like you. She always has been but it is much more intense now.”

Sesshoumaru sat and let Ryuu words wrap around his heart. That’s right he could smell her all around him. Rain on waterfalls.

“Sesshoumaru?” Ryuu pulled Sesshoumaru from his thoughts of the beautiful creature that has so throughly turned his world upside down. “Is there something I need to know?”

Sesshoumaru looked up with a surprised expression. “She’s nineteen?” Sesshoumaru asked.

“No, she’s twenty. This has been going on for a year now.” Ryuu answered. He was hoping Sesshoumaru could explain the change in his daughter, even though they never met before.

Sesshoumaru had been thinking now, she told him, he remembered. They were supposed to meet when she was nineteen. He understood now, although not completely. Suddenly there was a knock at the door and Ryuu’s wife entered.

I still believe, someday you and me
will find ourselves in love again
I had a dream, someday you and me
will find ourselves in love again

“Ryuu, she’s here.” To the couples surprise, Sesshoumaru was the first to stand and was already heading out the door, nearly knocking Ryuu’s wife out the way if she hadn’t moved as fast as she did.

In the living room was Inuyasha and his miko...er, hanyou mate. Sesshoumaru had to remember the wish. It’s been so many years since he last saw them. But they didn’t catch his interests as much as the ebony haired woman standing with her back to him. Her scent was just as he remembered it. Her hair was the same, her thick, tantalizing thighs beckonedhim closer. Then she spoke, in that silky, seductive voice.

“Your late.” She said without turning.

Sesshoumaru swallowed hard. “I know.” He replied. Sesshoumaru watched as the woman before him turned slowly. All around him everything began to blur and dissipate until nothing was there except him and her. The moment her dark, piercing eyes met his dull yellow ones he almost forgot how to breath. “Victoria.”

“Sesshoumaru.”

Each day of my life, I’m filled with all the joy I could find
You know that I’m, I’m not that desperate type
If’s there’s one spark of hope left in my grasp
I’m holding it with both hands

Sesshoumaru reached through the years, he felt the loneliness and weariness he felt for years come undone. And suddenly he felt alive again. Victoria reached her hand out and caught his. Slowly she brought his palm to her cheek. Suddenly five hundred years were gone from his soul as he caressed her soft cheek.

“I blamed you.” Sesshoumaru said softly. “For so long.” Victoria smiled sweetly and stepped closer, she reached up and brushed the hair from his eyes.

“I’m sorry.” She replied. Sesshoumaru leaned his head down and took in her wonderful scent.

“Don’t be, you’re here now.” Sesshoumaru eyes seemed to begin to shine and it took Victoria’s breath away. She lifted her head until barely a slither of light passed between their lips.

Cause lover it’s still burning
to have a second chance

“Now what?” Victoria said oh so gently, for his ears only. Sesshoumaru chuckled, his familiar, humorless chuckle that tore Victoria to the bone. Sesshoumaru quickly pressed his hot mouth to her soft one. All the sorrow she felt without him, all the guilt he felt without her. None of it mattered anymore. Sesshoumaru pulled her into him together their souls seemed to wrap around each other, neither wanted to let go of the moment.

Kagome smiled and took Inuyasha’s hand. After all these years they were still in love. For years they wanted Sesshoumaru to have what they had. And now he did.

“Inuyasha?” Kagome said softly.

“Yeah?” Inuyasha was happy for his brother, because of him and the woman he loved. Inuyasha had the love of his life still by his side.

“I think it’s time to go home.”

Inuyasha turned to his mate in shock. They lived in America for so long, but he missed his homeland. “Really?”

Kagome rested her head on his shoulder and watched the reunited pair. “Yeah.”

And know, know, know, know
I need you baby
I still believe that we can be together
Know, know, know that if we believe that true love never has to wait
Then we will know that we will love again

Victoria pulled away from the kiss and smiled. “I can’t believe you’re here, you remember me.”

Sesshoumaru gave her a secret smile. “I forgot so many, but I couldn’t forget you. But how do you know me.”

“My soul never forgot you and my love for you.”

“Midoriko...” Sesshoumaru gasped.

Victoria smiled. “Midoriko. She granted my wish all those years ago. I’m so grateful.”

Victoria looked into Sesshoumaru’s eyes and he didn’t want to turn away. He ran he clawed hand through her hair and bent to cup his hands under her thighs, in a graceful, fluid moment Victoria was in his arms and he began to leave. Their eyes never left one another.

“Hey!” Ryuu called out. “Does anyone care to explain what the hell is going on.”

Sesshoumaru didn’t stop. And Kagome stood between the concerned father and the retreating couple.

“Ryuu, let them go. Inuyasha and I will explain everything.” Kagome said. She saw Ryuu sag a bit. “Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll be back.”

Sesshoumaru didn’t care what the voices behind him were saying. The person in his arms was the only thing that mattered. He would take her far away, have her all to himself.

“Sesshoumaru?” Victoria cut into his thoughts before he lost himself.

“Yeah?” He replied.

“I love you.” Victoria said as she buried her face into his chest.

I still believe, someday you and me
will find ourselves in love again
I had a dream, someday you and me
will find ourselves in love again

Sesshoumaru stopped and to Victoria’s surprise he put her down. They were far from the house now. Victoria hadn’t really realized that they left. She was about to ask what was wrong when Sesshoumaru reached into his blazer.

“I think this belongs to you.” Sesshoumaru said as he pulled out the triple moon necklace. Victoria’s eyes began to well and Sesshoumaru caught a tear before clasping the necklace around her neck. Victoria looked down on the necklace and cried. Sesshoumaru caught her face with his hands and pulled her closer.

We’ll find ourselves in love again

“And I love you.” He said softly and brought his lips to hers. At that moment they were surrounded by a blue light and slowly they morphed into a single, small floating orb. Together they disappeared into the sky.
