I'm such a baka, I'm sooo very sorry, but I thought that I was only going away for a week but I've been gone for 4 weeks and just getting a chance to update, please forgive me! But don't worry I have the next two chapters already written and I'll post them up in a few days to give you time to read this chappie, ok?

Sesshoumaru who was always cool and calm during the heat of battle never felt this before. His blood was pumping hard through his veins, and a strange feeling settled in the pit of his stomach when his eyes watched Rin fall off the cliff.

With speed faster than light could travel, Rin and the human miko Kagome where safely in his arms.

Rin, who was still conscious spoke. "Oh, Sesshoumaru-sama! Rin missed you oh so much, but Kagome-chan found me, and then saved me from the mean old lizard but then the lizard hurt Kagome, please Sesshoumaru-sama, take Kagome-chan home, and make sure she gets there safely."

Sesshoumaru only nodded. "Jaken, take Rin home and make sure she gets washed, dressed, fed and put to bed. If you lose her again, this time I will torture you before I kill you and I will not bring you back." He growled at the toad youkai, who cowered in fear.

"Y-yes my lord." Jaken, then summoned Ah-Un, and he lead Rin home.

Sesshoumaru looked down at the miko in his arms, and sighed heavily before forming his youki cloud and taking off into the night sky.

Kagome awoke as cold air rushed over her body, she shivered and tried to snuggle closer to the warmth that was being admitted to her. Sighing she opened her blue/grey eyes, which met that of intense gold ones. "Inuyasha?" She blinked, and then spotted the strange markings on his face.

"No, Sesshoumaru." She spoke, looking around finally realizing that she was high up. "Eep!" And her hands suddenly had a death grip on Sesshoumaru's robe.

"Miko Kagome?" Sesshoumaru questioned.

"Huh? Oh, um, yea that's me."

"Even though it is very difficult for I to say this, but This Sesshoumaru thanks you for saving his ward, Rin." He spoke in a calm cool voice.

Kagome was shocked into silence. 'Did Sesshoumaru just thank me? Umm..did hell just freeze over or what???' "Uh, you're welcome, where is Rin?"

"I commanded my retainer to take her home."

"Ok, and where are you taking me?"

"Back to the village you stay at."

"But why?"

Sesshoumaru had to keep from rolling his eyes. 'All humans must be alike when asking all these questions, nevertheless, I will honor Rin's request.' "Rin asked of me to make sure you get home safely."

Kagome giggled.

"And what is so funny?"

"A human child told you, great Sesshoumaru Lord of the Western Lands what to do."

Sesshoumaru bit back a growl, catching on to what she meant. 'Rin must be making me soft.'

"May I ask you a small favor Sesshoumaru?"

Sesshoumaru ignored her.

"I mean Sesshoumaru-sama."

He glanced at her.

"Can you put me in the clearing where that old well is? I'd rather not go to the village." Kagome's eyes were cast downward.

Sesshoumaru blinked. 'I sense sorrow coming from her.' "I will do as you request, because you saved Rin."

"Arigatou Sesshoumaru-sama." Kagome responded softly, tears already in her eyes, her thoughts on Inuyasha.

'Tears, I smell tears from her.' His curiosity was telling him to ask her why the tears and sadness, but his pride kept him from doing so. 'She is just a human, my brother's human wench at that. I would have let her drop if it were not for Rin.'

A few minutes later they arrived at the clearing, the cloud around Sesshoumaru's feet disappearing, he set Kagome on her feet.

"Arigatou yet again." Kagome said, letting a weak smile cross her face.

"Get away from her you bastard!" A human Inuyasha yelled.

"Stop it Inuyasha!" Kagome said firmly. "He wasn't hurting me, he was helping me, it was a request from the human child that follows him!"

"My brother, helping!" Inuyasha snorted. "Yea right."

"Inuyasha, I mean it, attack him and I will say the 's' word until your back breaks!"

"But Kagome."

"Don't Kagome me! I said no, don't attack him, and when I say no I mean it!"

"Look bitch, I was only trying to protect you."

"Protect me my ass, and my name is Kagome! Get it right doggie boy."

"What did you say?" Inuyasha growled.

"Oh, you didn't hear me? Ok, sit boy!"

Inuyasha crashed to the ground, his swears muffled by the dirt.

Sesshoumaru looked on in amusement in how well Kagome could control Inuyasha.

Kagome was fuming. "And how dare you say you're trying to protect me when you're to busy kissin' Kikyo." A few angry tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Kagome, I..I..."

"Just...just leave me alone Inuyasha. Go back to Kikyo." Kagome turned her back to Inuyasha, her hair falling in her face, hiding her tears.

"Fine then, like you said, forget it." Inuyasha stormed off.

Kagome gripped the rim of the well to keep herself standing before sinking to the ground.

Sesshoumaru had disappeared off into the forest, and now watched the young miko from afar, he watched her as she sunk to the ground, even though he smelled tears, most were unshed. Without a second thought, he turned and left.

But to those who did not sense the fourth aura, a pair of silver eyes flashed as they watched Kagome. "Interesting indeed, very interesting. Now, to find a way to make it work."

A shimmering image appeared before this mysterious person. "Aww, the child, the Western Lands ward, Rin."

Just as dawn began to peek over the horizon, Kagome stood, after spending the rest of the night sitting by the well and thinking, she came to one simple decision. 'I will not worry myself over Inuyasha, he can love whoever he wants, and even if I love him, I won't stop him from being with his lover.'

She swung her legs over the side of well, and jumped in.
